Little Dish have partnered this year with Barnardo’s on their Big Toddle, which is an exciting ‘mini’ sponsored walk for toddlers. Now in its 16th year, it is the biggest fundraising event in the UK for under 5s and already attracts an amazing half a million children. All the money that Barnardo’s receives from this event goes towards helping some of the UK’s most vulnerable under 5s. This years theme is Super hero’s. When I asked Noah what he would dress up as, he said Captain Hook – I tried to convince him he was not a Super hero, but he will not hear a bad word said against Captain Hook!

In order to promote their partnership with Barnardo’s, Little Dish are selling special packs of Chicken and Butternut Squash Pie with a pair of toddling shoes for just £5. The limited edition packs are available in Sainsbury’s from Wednesday 23rd May for 10 days only – that means it all ends on the first June! All proceeds from the sale will go to Barnardo’s. Now tell me how this is not firstly a bargain (a meal and a pair of shoe for a fiver!) but also it is supporting charity. To me it is a no brainer and I think you need to be setting off to Sainsbury’s in the next ten minutes (just finish reading this post first!)

The Limited edition shoes are also available in three sizes (small 5-6) (medium 6-7) and (Large 8-9) – that means I can kit all three of mine out for the summer for £15 and have helped a great cause, plus after going on a nice toddle I can feed my hungry children with their yummy dinner!

Volvo prides itself on looking after the Family as a car manufacturer and pays attentions to key details like safety and comfort. We all know how hard travel as a family with kids can be. I am constantly wishing there were easier ways to get three toddlers safety into a car and that is even before they are strapped in and seated!

Driving has never been something that has come naturally to me (six *cough* ahem tests) but I passed finally at 24. I have never owned my own car and have always shared my husbands and since having children I have always been more cautious behind the wheel.

We know that the moment you start engine you are effectively in charge of a powerful machine that has the ability to cause damage, so any means to help to protect the safety of those in the car and those outside is of key importance. The Volvo V60 has groundbreaking technology incorporated into its system that help it to monitor traffic, pedestrians and can even apply the brakes to slow you down to avoid any unwanted collisions keeping you and your family and any families walking around safe.

Not only is it safe and has great ergonomics to seat a family of five but a large boot space and lots of storage as well!  We know that when we travel as a family is not usually light and that things like bikes and roof racks need to be added which can all be accessorised on the V60.

Last week I was invited to a fabulous cookery masterclass hosted by Tesco Real Food, the [...]]]> We are celebrating the Jubilee in style this year and actually having a garden party at my in-laws, where we will be expected to wear red, blue and white, and shall eat yummy food, get merry and be silly!

Last week I was invited to a fabulous cookery masterclass hosted by Tesco Real Food, the in-store food magazine that give loads of recipe ideas and cookery tips. The session was held at The Cookery School at Little Portland Street in London and led by the lovely Rosalind who gave us a cookery methods including  brilliant cookery tips, like the secrets to making the perfect custard. The trick is putting some of the sugar into the cream and boiling it until it is really hot and adding it to the egg yolk and rest of the sugar! Anyhow I digress…

The aim of this cookery Mater class was to teach us how to cook a selection of recipes that can be found in the current magazine to celebrate the Jubilee. They are all recipes that are straight forward, with simple preparation and can actually be prepared in advance so that you can enjoy the party yourself.

The session started with a nice glass of champagne, was put down to concentrate on the cooking (hiccup! Of course) and finished with our own indoor street party and tasting session of all the food we had cooked up! Delicious.

I felt so lucky to get the chance to attend an event where I learnt so much, so a big thank you to Tesco and it is always lovely to meet other bloggers.

Tesco currently have a competition running with lots of great prizes up for grabs including a weekend cookery course for two at Ashburton Cookery School. The children and I were invited to The Marks and Spencer beach clean up last week. We were very grateful that the weather was not only dry but fairly warm. I decided to take the twins out of pre-school for the morning and persuade my mother in law to come with us to help me as I thought it would have a beneficial message to the children, as we use the beach a lot.

The day was not quite what we expected and in fact was not wholly suitable for toddlers, however we tried to make the best of the situation.

BB (Big Brother) was given a litter picker which he felt was his fabulous new toy and we had a bin bag and he really quite enjoyed trying to find litter, pick it up and put it in the bin bag. The twins started off well but as they did not have their own litter pickers the novelty wore off fairly quickly.

We talked about how litter is very bad on a beach, as not only can it be smelly and look horrible, but it can be very dangerous to animals, especially if they eat it. BB seemed to really grasp this concept well. I was also able to reinforce this at home by using the ‘School of fish‘ website which has some fun games and great resources on there including an A-Z of sea creatures.

A BBQ was provided but 2 hours of beach cleaning for 2 year olds was too much, and the wind was too strong on the seafront and whipping sand in their faces. You know how hard it can get with hungry, whiney toddlers and so we had to call it a day early.

Exhausted kiddies!

I do however feel that BB particularly did get an idea that it is helpful to look after the beach and despite the session not really being as equipped for children as it should have been,  but strongly feel that the campaign and the cause was good. The Marine conservation Society do an awesome job at protecting our beaches and marine life and introducing our children to the idea of keeping a world healthy can only be a good thing.
