6 years ago today the Mumba journey began with the launch of our employee engagement service.

Our first offering was a tangible employee incentives and benefits program in the form of a private and secure online shopping website.

Back then it was really the first of its kind in Australia - over 7,000 luxury products integrated into fulfilment centres with automated order processing. Our first client was Lend Lease and I'll never forget the day we went live.

Lend Lease employees were invited to register through a secure link on their intranet. The service was completely private and branded so employees really felt that this was something special for them. You couldn't believe the excitement as we watched the numbers just climb on every page refresh.

From that day we quickly went from strength to strength winning business from Westpac Group, National Australia Bank, Tabcorp, ING, WorleyParsons, Compass Group and so on.

6 years later it's worth reflection because this year we've achieved a huge milestone in terms of striving for our vision: to assist companies with engaging their employees.

We at Mumba have always believed that the ultimate driver of employee engagement and business success is through effective and meaningful communication. Our benefit services were always considered a form of communication, especially our client branded weekly email newsletters.

Today, Mumba has evolved into a world leader for providing private social business networking software to companies that have the greatest communication challenges.

With our launch of Mumba Cloud this year, we're now able to offer companies in Australia and around the world an effective employee communication solution. The year already feels like it is running away from us.

We've got so many amazing things in the pipeline that it just seems like a case of so much to do in so little time.

We are just weeks away from launching our new Mumba Cloud Enterprise edition - our major project announced late last year. At the time of launch, this system will go live for a soon to be named client.

This client undertaking will be one of the world's largest and most ambitious Enterprise 2.0 systems to date. Usage will span over 600 site locations and include more than 20,000 offsite and office based employees.

We're excited about this assignment because the scope and functionality is truly ground breaking. To get an idea, think about a souped-up intranet meets an online portal meets Facebook and then throw in some Twitter and Linkedin type functionalities and blend that with single sign-on and access via any browser or portable device.

Mumba Cloud is perfect for companies seeking to communicate with disbursed, mobile, off-site and office based employees. Over the past 12 months our usability feedback and pilot studies have shape a system that sets the benchmark for this segment of the industry.

Another important update is regarding our Mumba Cloud free private social business edition. This is based on our Enterprise system and will be available worldwide within the very near future.

Please note that Mumba Cloud Enterprise edition will be restricted to Australian clients until further notice. This is due to the high level of consultation required for effective scoping and implementation. Plans are however underway to establish support for European and USA clients within the next 12 months.

There are a number of additional projects simmering in our lab but we'll leave that for another update.

World’s largest implementation (well, at-least one of them)

Over the last 8 months we've been working with the Australasian office of one of the world's largest companies (based on employee numbers) to implement our latest generation social business communication platform. In Q1 of the coming year this implementation will be rolled out to over 20,000 employees across Australia & New Zealand.

The systems, functionality and strategy will be one of the largest and most ambitious Enterprise 2.0 offerings of its kind. Further information is due to be released early next year.

Introducing Mumba Cloud

In line with our extensive platform development (and spurred on by the upcoming release noted above) we are planning the launch of our new software as a service (SAAS) version that will be available to any employee in any company of any size.

This new platform will be known as ‘Mumba Cloud’.

Mumba Cloud has been designed to significantly enhance employee interaction through various online communication tools. It's similar to Facebook in concept however it’s completely secure and customizable.

Mumba Cloud will offer employees immediate access to the latest Enterprise 2.0 tools. They can easily invite their co-workers to join them online without any IT burden or cost. Mumba Cloud will be especially useful for companies with multiple office locations, non-office based staff, mobile and casual employees. The applications will focus on team collaboration, information disbursement, project management, blogs, group communication and knowledge sharing.

Mumba Cloud will be packaged into the following 3 versions that offer varied functionality and support:

• The first version is free and accessible to any person that registers a valid business domain. This version will include a range of Enterprise 2.0 applications however is limited with regards to administration and management
• The second version is available via a subscription fee and will include additional applications and a focus on administration (such as the ability to customise and moderate the site)
• The third version is for enterprise clients and will feature our full scale platform combined with a social business strategy and premium employee support*.

*Due to the level of customization, consulting advice, project management and ongoing support required for the Enterprise package, the system will initially be available within Australia & New Zealand however global rollout plans are in the pipeline.

Mumba is pleased to announce that our Microsoft SharePoint integration is now available for our Social Business Cloud platform.

This integration allows our clients to define 1 or 2 way synchronisation of specific files and folders between SharePoint and our Social Business Cloud platform.

Access roles can be defined for employees to view, create, edit folders and files can be uploaded through the browser directly from the Social Business Cloud interface.

Any changes are then automatically synchronised with pre-determined SharePoint folders. 

An assortment of other SharePoint information can also be pushed to the Social Business Cloud interface and displayed in a variety of ways.

We have recently upgraded our employee gifts and service awards rules engine.

The big news about this upgrade is that employees can now seamlessly redeem gifts without the need for any redemption codes or coupons. 

Employees can still use points however for non-points redemption sites (such as employee service awards websites) employees can now just checkout with the click of a button.

The coupon and redemption codes have been replaced with clever pre-defined rules that manage which employees can redeem what gifts. This allows for a smoother more accurate experience.
