Looking Forward to 2012

World’s largest implementation (well, at-least one of them)

Over the last 8 months we've been working with the Australasian office of one of the world's largest companies (based on employee numbers) to implement our latest generation social business communication platform. In Q1 of the coming year this implementation will be rolled out to over 20,000 employees across Australia & New Zealand.

The systems, functionality and strategy will be one of the largest and most ambitious Enterprise 2.0 offerings of its kind. Further information is due to be released early next year.

Introducing Mumba Cloud

In line with our extensive platform development (and spurred on by the upcoming release noted above) we are planning the launch of our new software as a service (SAAS) version that will be available to any employee in any company of any size.

This new platform will be known as ‘Mumba Cloud’.

Mumba Cloud has been designed to significantly enhance employee interaction through various online communication tools. It's similar to Facebook in concept however it’s completely secure and customizable.

Mumba Cloud will offer employees immediate access to the latest Enterprise 2.0 tools. They can easily invite their co-workers to join them online without any IT burden or cost. Mumba Cloud will be especially useful for companies with multiple office locations, non-office based staff, mobile and casual employees. The applications will focus on team collaboration, information disbursement, project management, blogs, group communication and knowledge sharing.

Mumba Cloud will be packaged into the following 3 versions that offer varied functionality and support:

The first version is free and accessible to any person that registers a valid business domain. This version will include a range of Enterprise 2.0 applications however is limited with regards to administration and management
The second version is available via a subscription fee and will include additional applications and a focus on administration (such as the ability to customise and moderate the site)
The third version is for enterprise clients and will feature our full scale platform combined with a social business strategy and premium employee support*.

*Due to the level of customization, consulting advice, project management and ongoing support required for the Enterprise package, the system will initially be available within Australia & New Zealand however global rollout plans are in the pipeline.

Microsoft SharePoint Integration Now Available for Mumba's Social Business Cloud (Enterprise 2.0) Platform

Mumba is pleased to announce that our Microsoft SharePoint integration is now available for our Social Business Cloud platform.

This integration allows our clients to define 1 or 2 way synchronisation of specific files and folders between SharePoint and our Social Business Cloud platform.

Access roles can be defined for employees to view, create, edit folders and files can be uploaded through the browser directly from the Social Business Cloud interface.

Any changes are then automatically synchronised with pre-determined SharePoint folders.

An assortment of other SharePoint information can also be pushed to the Social Business Cloud interface and displayed in a variety of ways.

Service Awards & Gifts Upgrade

We have recently upgraded our employee gifts and service awards rules engine.

The big news about this upgrade is that employees can now seamlessly redeem gifts without the need for any redemption codes or coupons.

Employees can still use points however for non-points redemption sites (such as employee service awards websites) employees can now just checkout with the click of a button.

The coupon and redemption codes have been replaced with clever pre-defined rules that manage which employees can redeem what gifts. This allows for a smoother more accurate experience.

A welcome message from the CEO

How to motivate people? How to drive productivity and increase passion within the workplace? How to (most importantly) demonstrate a return on our clients' investment?

When I began working on Mumba in December 2005 these were the questions that we set out to answer. It was a journey of discovery.

I’ve always been drawn to technology so it was natural for me to explore how software could help achieve these goals. Our first web application focused on effectively marketing our clients' brand to their employees via tangible employee benefit programs. Since that time we’ve been building.

This first blog post is my introduction to our third iteration of Mumba Corp. In a digital world that moves via the speed of light, I feel the necessity to re-invent ourselves each year. Mumba Corp. V3 showcases what I believe to be the most advanced developments in progressing our agenda.

We understand the potential of our products. We've learnt how they should be implemented and why they are so vital to the 21^st century economy. Our philosophy is to stay ahead of the curve. To invent the future.

Workforce Engagement Defined

Peek into any executive suite and it won't be long before you hear someone bring up the term employee engagement. Engagement is an important topic because of its proven links to critical business outcomes like productivity, retention, and customer satisfaction and loyalty. Everybody wants to have an engaged workforce because it can forge a path to competitive advantage.

On the surface, the concept of engagement appears simple and intuitive. But ask five different people to define engagement and you'll likely get five different answers. Better yet, ask five providers of employee surveys, and you may find that each has pulled together a different combination of traits under a single umbrella they refer to as employee engagement.

The lack of a clear and precise understanding of engagement is more than just a semantics issue; it affects how engagement is both managed and measured. Engagement surveys based on a clearly-defined concept zero-in on attitudes and behaviors that directly affect the bottom line and on ways that identify how to make improvements.

The only way to identify engaged employees is to observe their behaviors. Engagement behaviors are the crux of all the positive aspects of having an engaged workforce. From a managerial perspective, it is the behaviors that make engagement a desirable trait in employees. Feelings and attitudes do not identify engagement in an employee. Without the behaviors, there is no engagement.

Engagement is vastly different from job satisfaction. In simplest terms, an engaged workforce positively affects the bottom line in a way that a merely satisfied workforce does not. The difference hinges on those important behaviors of an engaged workforce.

Even if you ignore the behaviors, you'll see that the feeling and attitudes of a highly engaged employee are very different from a disengaged, but potentially satisfied employee. Feeling engaged, which shows internal motivation to do and to strive, is quite different from feeling satisfied - which can reveal itself in complacency and acceptance of the status quo.

Engaged employees not only feel a certain way, they also behave a certain way, and behaviour is, after all, what matters.
