After researching and finding out about the World's Oldest Mum, it made me wonder who was the youngest. I didn't expect the huge shock of finding out the youngest was a 5 year old! ....

A Peruvian girl called Lina Medina gave birth to a boy weighing 2,700 grams by Cesarean, and named him Gerado on May 1939. Lina was exactly 5 years 8 months old.

Just a month before the birth her parents had taken her to hospital with the suspicion she may have had an abdominal tumor.

The disturbing questions were how did this happen and how could this happen?

Research was carried out and it found that the mother had amazingly began menstruating at just 8 months old. By the age of 4 she had developed breasts and pubic hair.

Lina married and had a second son 33 years later in 1972, who now lives in Mexico.

Lina's son Gerado found out aged 10 that who he thought was his sister, was in fact his mother. Sadly Gerado died in 1979 aged 40 from a bone marrow disease.

Lina never revealed who the father was, and how the situation happened. Doctors say she might not actually know the answers herself as she couldn't give 'precise responses'.

Her dad was originally arrested on suspicion of rape and incest, but was released due to lack of evidence.

It's somthing we always worry about as parents for our unborn child. Alot of people ask the question if it happens to them 'Is it something i did wrong or?'

Your child having the disease is not related to how many children you have had, if you have a new partner, taken any narcotics at or around the conception time etc.

The risk is more related to your age, although parents of any age can have a Downs Syndrome baby.

Here is a brief overview of the risk increase:

In your twenties
You have a 1 in a 1,000 chance

In your thirties
You have a 1 in 900 chance. At 35 this rises to a 1 in 400 chance, and by 37 it becomes 1 in 250.

In your forties
Early 40's would be a 1 in 100 chance, and by the age of 45 or older the chances are 1 in 25.

EVAN'S 5TH BIRTHDAY PARTY PICS

Here are the party pictures from Evan's 5th birthday.
We had a wacky warehouse party for him, where the kids get to play in the ball pits and have hot food.

Evan was so excited to have all his friends from school there. He didn't stop as you can see from his sweaty hair!

Little brother Lewis joined in too of course. He likes to be in with the big boys!

The pits were massive and was hard to take pictures with them all running and climbing around inside. You can just see Evan in the middle here climbing up the yellow stairs.

Time to eat and blow out his cake. Hes looking a bit suspicious here isn't he? I think he just wanted to go and play again! .... Look at Lewis in the background with his falling hat ha ha!

Evan got to sit in a special kings chair. Look at daddy busy chatting away at the back as mommy takes all the pictures. Pah!

And could i get a full length picture of the table? Erm no! There was always someones body in the way! The joy of kids parties!

Evan had a nice time anyway, but i was sure glad when it was all over!

MY LITTLE MAN TURNS 5

It doesn't seem like 5 years ago that i delivered my little man by C-Section, after the cord got wrapped around his neck. I cant bear to think what life would have been like without him.

Now hes another year older (well his birthday was last Friday!) he seems to have grown up so much.

This is a picture of him opening one of his many presents. Oh i would love to be a kid again!
We held a party for him with his friends from school. I will bring you those pictures soon ...

When i'm travelling afar to visit family and friends, i always like to take pictures with me of my family.

When the time comes when you need to save someones life comes panic strikes. Even the most experienced first aider can get flustered.

That's why i think an American AED (Automated External Defibrillator) becomes really useful.

Not only does an automated voice tell you what to do in simple prompts, you also have a 'shock' button for that crucial moment.

My little man in action

Keeping your family fit has never been so much fun with the Nintendo Wii Fit. Now it's even better with the Wii Plus 2nd addition game.

This time your pets and baby's can join in too! Yes you can register them on the system to take part, and they can have their measurements taken.

Like the original you have got lots of different routines you can choose from, that are in the style of games using the Wii board, remote and nunchuck.

The idea is so you think it's not an exercise, but really you are burning off the calories.

21 new activities have been added this time, including the impressive Yoga and Muscle exercise programmes. You can even create your own personalized routine so you don't get bored from doing the same activities.

What i love the most is the fact the whole family can join in. Even my 5 year old had a go, and i couldn't get him off it for ages.

I didn't mind letting him carry on seeing as its not your 'typical computer game'. Plus it was helping him keep active.

For the moms and dads that are looking to loose weight, this is great as you can keep track of what calories you have burned, set your own weight loss goals and see how you progress (or not) over time.

You even get different weight loss and calorie burning tips/advice as you go along.

I like to challenge my family and friends on the games, and try and beat their score, whilst at the same time i'm unaware that i'm actually exercising away!

I would recommend all families invest in the game. It brings you all together at the very least.

TINNITUS RELIEF: Sound Therapy Masking System

I suffer from Tinnitus, and like alot of people i struggle to sleep at night without some background noise. Otherwise the constant ringing in my ears keeps me awake.

I used to use the noise of a fan to filter out the ringing sound, but it soon become costly having the electric on all night and very cold in the winter.

Then someone recommended i try the Sound Oasis S-650 Sound Therapy System.

It carries huge benefits not just to Tinnitus suffers but it also helps calm babies down to sleep, or if you just struggle with getting to sleep in general.

Here are some of them:

You have got a snooze button and the same one stops and starts the sound anytime you want.
As well as all this you are able to adjust the volume to suit yourself, or set it so the volume will decrease gradually.

If you have a partner that is not too keen on the background noise, you can get a headphone/speaker pillow jack. You simply plug this into your machine and pop under your pillow. This way the noise will go directly to your ears, and your partner will hardly hear it at all.

Again you are able to adjust the volume if it appears to be too loud or too quiet even for your ears.

You will need 4 "AA" batteries or alternatively you can use the AC adapter that comes with it.

I use it all the time now. I prefer the Rain and White Noise sounds mostly, but everyone is different and will have different preferences to what suits them best.

SIGNS OF PREGNANCY

There are quite a few signs to look out for that are commonly associated with being pregnant.

The most common and obvious one would be one or more missed periods. But there may also be another reason for that missed period also** ...

Other signs of pregnancy are:

* You need to urinate frequently.
* some smells and tastes may become unpleasant (especially if you have a metallic taste in your mouth).
* You feel or be sick in the mornings or at other times of the day.
* Your breasts feel tender, swollen and you may get a tingling feeling in them.
* You are constantly tired, feeling faint or dizzy.
* You become emotional and tearful for small or no reasons at all.
* You have a sudden suffering from constipation.

** A missed period can sometimes be associated with illness, shock or jet lag. But if you are feeling some or all of the symptoms above with it also you could be pregnant.

If in doubt and to put your mind at rest it is always best to do a pregnancy test if your unsure.
Not everyone has the same symptoms. In fact some only may have one or 2.

A COLD DAY AT THE PARK

I have released that the outdoor stuff we usually do with the kids probably wont happen for a while again, as it's just so cold!

We too the kids to the park all wrapped up warm. Here they are all excited!

But still refused to take their hoods off as they play. 'It's too cold mummy!' -bless!

Even with the cold they still had a nice time, but i don't think we will be going to the park for the next few of months at least!

Now to think of some indoor activities instead! hmmmm ......

I thought i would give these shower gels a try as they always looked like good quality shower gels. The bright colours seemed to draw my in too! I guess that's good marketing for you!

I bought the Lime one. The smell was just gorgeous like i could eat it! In fact all the smells were wonderful.

The strong smell comes from real fruit and flavours that are used in the bottle. The lime one had 40 real limes squeezed into it along with essential oils.

I liked the fact it was 100% pure and natural and that the product hadn't been tested on animals either.

It worked well in the shower too, and you don't actually need that much at all to make the gel into a 'washing foam'.

I kept smelling the bottle like a mad woman! You will see what i mean if you ever buy them! I will definitely be getting a different one each week now.
