Life is a tightrope!

This is the last day of 2013 and there are many happenings that we should reflect and evaluate. Just two days ago, I was shocked with the news of the demise of one of my colleague’s wife who took her own life after she could not withstand life’s pressure. I began to ponder over it, since the after shock is too great. What was she thinking when she ended it all? Did she think about her kids? Could the people around her have prevented her from dwelling deeper into her depression.? Was it destiny? Karma? I don’t think there is any answer to any of them. But I do know something with strong convictions. Everything is impermanent. We are here for only a short time. How we live is really a reflection of our actions and thoughts. Wisdom and mindfulness play an important part in our lives. We should really learn to live with life’s imperfections and know what to let go and what to grasp. Material , wealth, prosperity, status… ? Health, wisdom, family bonds, filial piety …? Life is really a tightrope, isn’t it? And it depends whether you balance in the midst of overcoming life’s challenges.

A ‘"deadly" encounter

This was written some time ago, but only get to be posted now.

Gruesome as it is, I have to relate this experience since it is not something that one encounters every day. In fact, I think this will be etched in my memory forever, as I feel the guiltiness of being an accomplice, trying to cover up the incident.

The incident must have happened in the middle of the night, though I did not hear see any suspicious figure or hear any sounds (coz I slept like a log, as usual and thanks to my infamously ‘good’ hearing). As usual, we went about our early morning preparation for the day, when we discovered the body lying unconscious, on the car porch. The discovery gave us the fright of our life since we had encountered other beings eg dead birds, lizards, bats around the compound, but never this huge, gigantic THING! Not sure if this is good thing for the kids to experience, my daughter was totally disgusted by the presence of the Thing, and my son was trying to guess if the Thing was dead, judging by the eyes, which was still opened. It was lying very stiff and we saw trails of blood around it, as if it had been dragged to where it was now positioned.

I saw the kids off to school, and in my mind, I was thinking fast, how was I to get rid of the body, since I felt disgusted too. I couldn’t imagine myself getting rid of the evidence, the very thought of holding the body with my bare hands was already enough to send shivers up my body. Should I put it in a plastic bag and let the unsuspecting rubbish collector get rid of it, or should I find a spot outside the house compound and bury it? Whatever it is, there was no getting away from this gruesome task, like it or not.

After I mustered enough courage, I equipped myself with gloves, newspaper, shovel, plastic etc. I need to be fully protected to ensure that I don’t get infected by whatever virus that the dead body might have. I went about digging a hole big enough for the body, at the outside the house. Then comes the moment to carry the body to the freshly dug grave. Yeeks! Thinking of it now, still gives me the shudder. I realized that rigor mortis had already occurred as the body had stiffened and it was quite easy (but still gruesome) to catch the Thing by its end, and put it in a plastic bag. All this while, the 2 pairs of eyes of the suspected murderers was watching me from a corner. I just went about my business, with courage and determination to get the task done.

I quickly put the body in the hole and got it covered, all the while chanting a little prayer for the unfortunate being, hoping it gets reincarnated to a higher being. I covered up the hole but still saw part of the ends jutting out. So, I quickly found more soil so that there is no evidence left.

I went back to the house and finished what I started. I washed the bloody murder scene and made sure there is no trail left, all the while thinking whether I was an accomplice or whether I did a good deed by giving the 8-inch dead rat a decent burial. I wished I never have to do this again, and that the 2 obviously guilty but innocent-looking dogs would stop their antics of pouncing on whatever little animals that come into our compound, in the bid to safeguard the house.

A blessing in disguise!

It has been ages since I last updated my blog, mostly, due to I had almost given up on it, since I didn’t feel like writing most of the time, and also due to time constraint.

Recently, I felt like ranting, scribbling here again. This will serve as a reminder, diary, memoirs, short scribbles and what-nots for me or my children to look back on.

Not that I have more time now, but I will try as hard as I can to write in between lunch/dinner preparations, morning breaks, after hanging the laundry or before bedtime etc but I will not force myself, otherwise, it will become another chore. Just as it will be my cooking.

Lately, due to some happenings which is of no relation to me, my mother-in-law has surrendered her dinner cooking duties. For the record, my MIL had been cooking dinner for us ever since ages ago. She cooked dinners Mondays to Thursdays while I handle all the lunches and dinners on other days. It helped a great deal since it gave me some breathing space to do other household chores especially on my full working days. I am more than grateful for her past years’ help, I think it is time for me to manage all meals on my own.

So, starting this week, it is a new challenge for me. There is more groceries to buy, need more recipe ideas, menus to plan etc. However, I am determine that this to not become a chore, but a blessing in disguise. I figured, if I cook , I will have a control over what I feed my family, and I will be able to cut down the oil/salt intake (this is the only downside of eating at my MIL’s). I will be able to ensure no canned food or preserved are used.

This is a good start, making a disadvantageous situation into a blessing with positive thoughts. I will also be able to make the kids help more in the housework, since seeing mummy busy in the kitchen makes them more willing to lend a helping hand.

More to come, this understanding towards my MIL and lovingly preparing the kids’ favourite food, will hopefully, able to send positive vibes to my kids and make them more caring and understanding beings.

Appreciations

My girl has been bringing lunch boxes to school on the days she needs to stay back in school, since last year. SRJKC schools have extra classes for students in Std 5 and 6 three days a week and students in Std 4, 5 and 6 have activities day once a week.

So, I will normally have to make preparations on the night before, wake up at 5 am and cook rice or noodles with dishes for lunch to be in time for the kids to bring to school, as the school bus comes at 6.15am. Starting this year, my boy has to stay back in school every Wednesday for activities. So, he was very excited and kept asking me what was I going to prepare for his first lunch in school (this was in Feb, I think)

I have written previously about how different are my 2 kids. My girl begin the non-expressive person, have not much comments on the food I prepare except if she thinks it is too much and she cannot finish them. Even if it is yummy, she will only comment if I ask her how she likes the food.

But with my boy, he anticipated the first ‘lunch’ day and in the morning, he peered into the wok and after finding out what I prepared, he exclaimed in a very happy voice, “ hmmm…. Smells so nice, what if I cannot stand it, and eat all of it even before lunch!” This was for their favorite chicken curry dish I cooked with fried egg, veg and rice. And later, after school, he mentioned, “I even let my friend try, so that he will envy me….”

So, it is all these simple things that makes me feel all the warmth and makes it worth the while. I bask in glory, by simple gestures like this, and I feel so fulfilled , looking at their beaming faces, while appraising my cooking. (of course, there are some downsides, when some cooking are not to their liking - I encourage them to give constructive comments too , if they do not like certain cookings). Even my girl now, is more expressive, since the other day, she told me she enjoyed her lunch , even though she was just at the gate, after returning from school!

So, here’s to many more cooking mornings!

How true that few sentences are! I have this phrase hung in my house, but everyday, we just walk pass it without much thoughts. In the past weekend, I dwelt on it from differently and thought how wise the Dalai Lama is.

Last weekend, was a sad and solemn weekend for all of us in the family, because my dear aunty (who had been battling with cancer for the past five years has lost the battle). She passed away after much pain and suffering on Friday morning. I wished it was much easier for her. But anyway, I pray and hope she has a better after-life now. And the living will always have her in memory.

I really reflected a lot on life in the last weekend. Life, people relations, goals, happiness, karma etc. It may be difficult to put them in writing, but I hope to capture some of my thoughts here.

Our lives might not be even ninety or hundred. It is highly likely to be shorter than that, taking into account the mortality rate in the current years. In the conduct of our everyday life, we might encounter some negative thoughts. What should have been done/should not, like/dislike someone or what someone else does, dwelling on your neighbour's rights/wrongs, gossips on friends or relatives etc. If we can use mathematics to put some numbers to all these, you imagine how much of time or effort they take up from our relatively short time on this earth!

We have also come across many different types of people in the course of our life. Their life story can be lessons to us. Every human being choose to live their life differently. It is not our perogative to criticise or to say, what is right or wrong and we should never dwell on them. Rather, we would reflect on our own life and improve ourselves further. How certain things happened ot turned out for these people around us, are due to their own karma, and how they handle things is also due to their own encounter or experience.

What matters, is our ultimate goal in life, and how we can make this life more meaningful and how we can say, at the end of our life, that we have no regrets for the path we took, for we ourselves are responsible for our own lives.

Sunday 26/12

My dear ex-schoolmates, Gladys and Li Fung organized a gathering in Singapore last Sunday. We had the gathering a NUS Guild House Cafe, which was really a suitable venue, since they also had a children playroom, which could occupy the children while we chatted. There was a choice of BBQ Buffet or ala-carte. We didn’t have much time to eat though since we were busy catching up.

Some of us have not met each other for close to 20 years, since our secondary school graduation day. Some of us are now mothers, some are career women, some have immigrated half a globe away etc etc.

I would say, it is really a wonderful time, meeting up with old friends, seeing their family and kids, sharing what is latest in our lives, and overall, having a gala time!

What a way to end the year! Happy New Year to all! And may 2011 bring us all happiness and good health! And Peace to the World!

Christmas wish

Merry Christmas! We don’t actually celebrate Christmas, but we only started off the day, with a hearty breakfast of eggs/otak and bread (the kids’ fave!)

In the afternoon, we visited my aunty who is suffering from cancer. This is her fourth relapse, and we are praying hard, that she can make it this time. The CT scan last week showed a large mestatic growth on her liver, though she was in remission after the operation of the intestine more than half a year ago. So, now, after her 1st chemotheraphy, she is very weak, and have bouts of pain which she can hardly bear. I wish she has more courage to fight the disease and the pain. But I guess, it really takes a lot of will power to do that. There is not much we can do, just be there wherever we can, to spend more time with her. Many of my relatives are cheering her on including my parents, who are there almost everyday. My mum would labouriously cook her favourite food, and I know, my aunty is grateful for that, although she can hardly eat a few mouths due to poor appetite.

So, anyway, Om Mani Padme Om… I really wish it is less painful for her and please take this suffering away from her. Yes, this is my Christmas wish!

And, I think we must all appreciate our lives and be grateful for the healthy and happy life that we have.

Trip to Kota Tinggi Waterfall

We spent the past few days leisurely with the family and friends. I should say, it was good time spent.

Last Friday, we brought the kids to Kota Tinggi Waterfall. Some might say, what’s so nice about this “ulu” place? Anyway, it is special for the kids, since they like to explore esp. my daughter who takes to climbing rocks like she has scaled many mountains in her last life. This time, is also special, because we brought along John’s nephew, who is only 5 years old. It is like we have 3 kids all of a sudden. We try to treat him like our child because this poor kid’s mum has left him (his parents are the couple we tried to counsel and are separated).

So, we started off with a good deed in mind, but at the end of the day, both my husband and I concluded, that someone else’s child is just not the same as your own child. It is not easy to teach/handle him because the upbringing is different and you just can’t scold them in case, they brand you as ‘bad aunty’ or throw tantrum until it is out of your control.

So, just try your best, with your most genuine heart, as long as they are happy. That is all that is important!

Vietnam Trip - Day 8 Hanoi-S'pore

We checked out of the hotel at 8.30 am and got transferred to the Hanoi Airport.

On board TR2309 at 11.30 and we reached S’pore at about 3.20pm. Home Sweet Home!

Overall, this is a good trip. A trip which open our eyes to another country's culture, other less fortunate people's plight, deeper meaning into gratefulness, family togetherness, moral values etc. I hope everyone will remember this trip for the time spent together.

Vietnam Trip - Day 7 Halong Bay-Hanoi

8.30 am After a Western breakfast of eggs and bacon, we took a small boat that will send us to a nearby island, where we would be climbing up more than 400 steps, and able to get a bird’s eye view of the Halong Bay.

We had early lunch at 11.30 am and after that, checked out and docked. Thanh was there to meet us for our transfer back to Hanoi.

We had another meal of chicken noodles, which my mother craved for and the durian juice again. Some last minute shopping and it is back to the hotel for a good night's rest.

Vietnam Trip - Day 6 Halong Bay

Today, we would be taking a 4 hours drive to Halong Bay, Vietnam most scenic sight, a recognized World Natural Heritage Site.

At about noon, we reached our destination and boarded the Phoenix Cruise , which is a wooden junk-like boat for a cruise around the beautiful limestone seascape. Lunch was served with a welcome drink.

The kids were so excited that they immediately explored the boat, the deck, the captain's cabin, the rooms etc. Now, they say, this is even better than spending a night on the train to Sapa!

After lunch, we visited the Amazing Cave which boasted some rare shapes of Buddha, turtles, finger, sword etc.

We enjoyed a pre-dinner fruit platter and red wine. After that, is was delicious seafood dinner which my father couldn’t help taking pictures of. Yum!

After dinner, it was free and easy time. Some enjoyed the night breeze on the decks, chatting, drinking wine or beer. We walked around and after that, all of us cramped into one room, to play UNO and Memory game. Even the grandparents enjoyed themselves.

Vietnam Trip - Day 5 Hoa Lu-Tam Coc

27th November 2010

Our train reached Lao Chai at around 4.05 am. Our guide, Thanh was there to greet us, he will bring us to our next destination, Hoa Lu, just 100 km southeast of Ha Noi. Hoa Lu is the Ancient Royal Capital under Dinh Dynasty and pre-Le Dynasty, which lasted 41 years (968-1009). We saw some temples where they worship olden days’ kings.

After that, we continued to Tam Coc, which is named after the low caves through which the Ngo Dong River flows. The essential Tam Coc experience is to sit back and be rowed through the caves. The kids enjoyed rowing the boat. The scenery throughout our boat ride was really breathtaking.

And the classic one,... watch the boatman rowing the boat with his legs when he is exhausted. We were told they earn 60,000 dong (about RM9 or USD3) for the 2 hours of boat rowing, and they are allocated one trip a day!

We stayed at The Long Hotel, which is quite big, facilities eg. toilet is quite old, restaurant food is not fantastic, but the tv satellite has so many channels the kids enjoyed clicking away.

Vietnam Trip - Day 4 Sapa

Sapa

The weather was still foggy. We walked around the markets nearby and bought some local dried stuffs eg. mushrooms, dried bamboo shoots, some local crafts etc. I bought 2 handbags for myself (I never pampered myself so much before!).

We came across a Hmong lady who was carrying a 9-month old baby on her back, while trying to sell her goods. The baby looked so cold and small. She had dirty hands and face, but she was smiling out from her mother’s basket. We gave her some biscuits, she gladly took it in her small hands and put in her mouth. Yum! Her mother, who is 45 years old told us, she has 4 other older siblings, the eldest who is already 20+ years old!

Even a few days after that, I was still thinking of the little baby. What future does she have? What will she be when she grows up? Walk around, selling goods to tourists, just like her mother, and the other girls we saw? But the children there look so carefree and happy. Maybe, that's the simplicity of life!

I wanted my kids to see the the poor people's life in Sapa, I think they would want me to see how other kids enjoy their childhood...

In the evening, we took the overnight train again, from Lao Chai to Sapa.

Vietnam Trip - Day3 Lao Chai-Sapa

We reached Lao Chai at about 4.30 am. It was raining cats and dogs, and we had to quickly run for shelter after getting off from the train. We met the tour guide, Shawn who spoke some English, although broken, we could understand him.

And we were transferred by tourist van to Sapa. Upon reaching the Sapa Boutique Hotel, we requested for early check in, as we needed to get a shower and change out of our filthy clothings.

The hotel was superb, facilities good, rooms immaculately clean, staffs friendly. Breakfast was bacon, eggs, fried rice, noodles and abundance of bananas.

After breakfast, we were to do some trekking at the nearby villages. Armed with bamboo stick and umbrella, we walked some distance to see some mountain sides/paddy fields. But alas, due to the fog and rain, visibility was not good. We only managed to see some corn fields and muddy patches. What a letdown!

All along the way, as we trekked, the Hmong girls from the local minority group followed us closely and repeatedly asked, “ Will you buy something from me?” It is a wonder how they learn to speak some English even without going to school. They try very hard to persuade tourists to buy their handmade pouches, bags, souvenirs etc.

The girl on our right side is only 13 years old and the other woman should be in her 30s. She told us, her name is Lily! So, they followed us down the slopes and all the way up again.

We visited the home of a Hmong family.

We should remind ourselves what good lives we have, after seeing their living condition. So, kids, be contented!

In the afternoon, we did some shopping around the shops.

We had hotpot dinner, which was not much to talk about and retired early.

Vietnam trip - Day 2 Hanoi

After a nice Western/Vietnam breakfast at the hotel, we started the day with a visit to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Many of the local Vietnamese were seen queuing up to pay respect their national hero who died in 1969. It was said that if a Vietnamese has never seen Ho Chi Minh in his life, it is like he/she has never existed. Our tour guide briefed us the history of Vietnam. This is story from another angle of history.

We moved on to visit the Presidential Palace and the One Pillar Pagoda.

The Temple of Literature (pic with the Vietnam girls in their pretty ‘Ai Dao’) and Tran Vu Pagoda.

After lunch break, we visited another pride of Vietnam, which is the Museum of Ethnologic, which exhibits the history and lives of the minorities in Vietnam.

We were rushed off to watch the Water Puppet show. Kids were quite entertained by the puppets but the adults were quite bored since the show was a little too long and we couldn’t understand the story line which was all in Vietnamese language.

After that, we had a one-hour tour around the Old Quarters on the cyclos (like trishaw in Malaysia) – street pollution is worse than in Malaysia, since you see hundreds on motorcycles and cars honing their way through the busy traffic and dusty roads. Motorcycles going in opposite directions is a common sight.

We had a dinner of chicken noodle soup (35,000 dong per bowl). Normally a bowl of noodle cost only 20-25,000 dong each. Only 2nd day and we had the our 2nd experience of being charged sky high. On the day before, we were charged 175,000 dong for a taxi ride which normally would only cost 26,000 -50,000 dong! So, beware of “axes” around Vietnam.

And off we go for an overnight train to Lao Chai-Sapa (on the Kings Express).

Vietnam Trip - Day1 S'pore-Hanoi

John and I had meticulously planned this trip for the past one month. This is the first time that we are travelling together with the kids, my parents and my mother-in-law. So, you see it is quite a challenge to ensure that the kids enjoy themselves, while the older ones don’t find it to tiring or boring. It is also a little pressuring on my part, since I was a little worried, about the weather condition in the Sapa highlands.We were also kind of sceptical about the credibility of the local tour agent in Vietnam - Vivu Travel, since we have found them from the website. As it turns out, we are quite satisfied with the tour arranged.

The day started off with everyone waking up at about 4am, so that we can be in time for the early flight on board TR2308 Tiger Airways to Hanoi, departure time 8.00 am. The kids were so excited, they woke up at the slightest pat on the back, and got ready within minutes.

And fabulous dinner at Quoc An Ngon (the food is considerably good though we were a little pissed off that they wouldn’t let us sit at the open air area, which we think they will only reserved for the Westerners!)The pricing is also reasonably,we ordered quite a lot of dishes and variety and it costed about 660,000 dong (about RM120)

Walnut and Ten Grain Soup

Walnut (as with other grains, eg. flaxseeds, linseed, soya, nuts are great other sources of Omega -3 fatty acids that can reduce the incidence of cardiovascular disease and in cancer prevention.

Omega-3s acids are naturally extremely unstable and it is preferable to use whole foods as source instead of omerga-3s supplement( Drug). Therefore, it is wise to add some of these grains and nuts into our diet.

I have started adding walnut into one of our morning blends using the Cosmo SoyLove blender pot, and it has become another health drink.

Ingredients:
3 tbsp ten grain
2 tbsp barley
A handful of walnut
1300 ml of water

Add of all of the above into the filter barrel and after when it is done after 30 minutes, add sugar to taste.

Swimming lessons

The kids have been going for swimming lessons every weekend (except for when the coach called in sick!). So far, so good, really crosssing my fingers! You see, I never force the kids for extra-curricular lessons, except when they seem to like a particular activity, but past experiences made me wise up.

I have been cracking my head hard, trying to think of some skills which the kids can learn up, besides academic lessons. My daughter has displayed interest in arts. So, when she was 5 years old, we sent her for arts lesson. At first, she enjoyed the crayon colouring and we would painstakingly encourage her and put up her drawings in the house. However, after a few months, her interest started to wear thin and she requested to stop the lesson.

We notice that she always starts shaking her body when she listens to any music at the shopping mall or at home and she seems to have the flair for dancing. So, we brought her to the dancing studio and asked her, 'Would you like to take dancing classes?' She nodded her head eagerly and off we went to register her. She liked the class at first, but after that she could not follow the steps because the teacher was teaching her as she would for those 1 or 2 years older than her. She was taller in size than others her age, so even at 7 years old, she looked like a 9 year old. So, the teacher changed her to another class with those her age, but the dance steps were too boring for her. So, we stopped her lessons after a while.

Learning my lessons, I gave them preliminary piano lessons by myself (instead of sending them for classes) just to gauge their interest. And all this was done at free will, no forcing or coaxing. But I guess, it will not work without constant practising.

So, I thought, maybe they should learn something that can make them exercise as well as play!

My boy wanted to take up taekwondo. We enquired here and there and when we were about the sign up for lessons, my hubby suddenly found out about this swimming lessons held at the sports club nearby. So, every weekend, the kids will look forward to their twice a week lessons, and hopefully, they can swim better than papa and mummy after 10 lessons ! (BTW, it cost RM250 inclusive of entrance fees to the sports club)

Pumpkin and Ten Grain Soup

Here's yet another pumpkin soup recipe. It is an alternative to the pumpkin soup I blogged about sometime ago, if we like it as dessert instead of dinner soup. And we added ten grain soup and pumpkin seeds so that the goodness is ten-fold.

Ingredients:
500 gm of diced pumpkin
3 tbsp of ten grain
1 tbsp of pumpkin seeds
2 or 3 mint leaves (optional)

Put all of the above in the filter barrel of the Cosmo SoyLove blender pot. I tried to add some mint leaves into the blend and the taste is very nice ad refreshing. After 30 minutes and when it is done, add some sugar to taste. My husband and I prefer it without sugar, since pumpkin has some sweetness naturally.

One day, it will make a difference!

Much as I like to do good deed, I must tell myself this very important discovery. Firstly, we must be able to let go. This means, after we tried our best to help others, be it counseling, giving advice verbally or giving financial aids etc., when we go back home, it is time for us to let it go.

Genuine people who can lend a helping hand should not ever get emotionally involved. Previously, on several occasions, I used to get worked up if people do not take my advice or others seem nonchalant on some matters you advice and think it good for them. I will complain to my husband, and in the end, get all emotional about it.

Now, I am able to 放下, right after the deed is done. No haste, no chase, it does not matter if advice not taken, it does not matter if good deed not appreciated. It only matters, if one have good intention to make a difference. One day, it will make a difference!

It is all worth it!

I did something I have never done before today.

Couldn't sleep yesterday night, thinking about it.

When I woke up, I thought about how to put it, and sentences kept forming in my thoughts

Well, I counselled someone today (no names/ reference for confidentiality purpose). A couple has gone separate ways due to some differences, they have a son who is only 5 years old. The boy is very depressed and even have to see a physcologist. The girl coops herself up in her room, talking to no one.

I talked to her in her room, and after an hour or a half. I told her many things about couples suiting to each other's whims and habits. I also shared with her about other friends who fell out with each other and regretted after years. The words and sentences just came out of my mouth very smoothly. So much for the worry the night before, whether I will stumble on what I wanted to say. Thank you, my dear Aunty Peck, for while looking out for foods that are suitable for cancer patients, I have come across some nutritious foods and ways to keep the deadly disease at bay. I have stumbled upon Cosmo Soy Love and the goodness of ten grain, and after that read many articles on alkaline or acidic foods and how we should take care of our body. Now, I fully advocate healthy living and eating. We are what we eat. After our eyes are opened, our whole family are very conscious of our food intake.

Thank you, the company where I work in, for allowing me to work half days on some days, so that I can focus on my kids. The kids are more than happy to have mummy stay-at-home until it is time to go to school. Although, at times, due to work circumstances, I needed to arrange for the kids to go to the childcare because I need to work full-day, I understand this will pass, and I will have the flexibility of being with the kids after the busy period is over. I should consider myself luckier than most other people.

Anti Cancer Pumpkin Soup

After using the Cosmo SoyLove blender pot, I have come across many nutritious drink/blends that has goodness you don't know you miss.

Pumpkin is said to be rich in anti-oxidant and the pumpkin seed is especially good for man to prevent prostate cancer. Recipe below is good for keeping the deadly disease at bay. But of course, we must watch our other food intakes too. It is no miracle, just by itself.

Ingredients:

Quarter of a pumpkin

1 tomato

1 carrrot

1 bombay onion

1300 ml of water

Cut all the ingredients into cube and placed it in the pot. Since there is a lot of stuffs, you do not use the filter basket. All of the ingredients can be blended well too.

After done, add some salt to taste. For cancer patients, use sea salt.

Dye hair using henna - Part III

And ... ta da... the result of the gruelling 5 hours.... is a pretty redhead. Ha! just joking. In case, some of you might get a shock, I decided to post the result/ colour of dyeing hair with henna. As mentioned, it is a little brownish red. The portion where there is more white hair will be more red. Other black hair portion will not be very red. Therefore, if you have a crown of white hair before this, you will turn into redhead. Otherwise, if your white hair is only at the root, or only a few strands, this henna treatment will only be like a hair mask and adds body to your hair.

Enough said, my handsome model...

Dye hair using natural henna - Part II

Here's some visual:

The Henna paste after it has been mixed with olive oil, tea and egg.

Note the texture.

Start dyeing on a slightly wet hair, and start from the
lower back layer by layer.

Always make sure the root of the hair is thoroughly covered with

the henna paste.

When done, the whole head will look like this. Yucky, isn't it?

Well, want to be handsome, no choice...

Put shower cap on. Since we want it to be like a hair mask,
can use 2 or 3 shower caps.

Leave it on for 5 hours and after that, wash off with tap water. Do not wash hair with shampoo on the same day.
