Every Shalalala: Reminiscing The Carpenters

2013-10-20T17:04:00.000+08:00

Yeah, long time no read. Just a bit busy with the wedding and all.Yes, guys, I am going there. Finally!

I just heard my dad play those classic songs again and it hit me: I haven't paid tribute to one of my favorite singers yet! My parents "discovered" that I could sing when I was in primary school and from then on, they bought a lot of multiplex tapes (Google, my dear young friend, Google.) to let me "rehearse" my "pieces". One of my influences was, is and will forever be Karen Carpenter. Though she left us all too soon, her voice was very soothing and distinct.

So, here's some of the Carpenters' songs that might not have been overly commercialized but has meant a lot to me and maybe to a lot of die-hard hopeless romantics like me. :)

MUMOMOMENT HIT #5 FOR ALL WE KNOW

For All We Know was actually written for the movie Lovers and Other Strangers in 1970. It was written by famous musical scorers during that time (Fred Karlin, Robb Royer and Jimmy Griffin and was originally performed by Larry Meredith.

FAVE LINES: We've got a lifetime to share | So much to say | And as we go from day to day

KAREN FACT: Karen Carpenter loved playing the drums. She was even praised by fellow drummers at that time. Proof? Listen to the Carpenters' album Ticket To Ride.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #4 GOODBYE TO LOVE

This song was composed by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis released in 1972. This is the one of the first few who used the fuzz guitar. This was my theme song when I was preparing myself for the spinster life. Hehehe!

FAVE LINES: All the years of useless search have finally reached an end | Loneliness and empty days will be my only friend | From this day love is forgotten I'll go on as best I can

KAREN FACT: She was just 32 when she passed away due to, we all know, anorexia nervosa. This led to a number of celebrities being open about their eating disorders. Her family founded the Karen A. Carpenter Memorial Foundation which was changed to the Carpenter Family Foundation. Aside from raising funds for people with eating disorders, the foundation also finances the arts, entertainment and education.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #3 MAKE BELIEVE IT'S YOUR FIRST TIME

Written by Bob Morrison and Johnny Wilson, Karen recorded Make Believe It's Your First Time intended for her solo album which was eventually shelved and was posthumously released in a very far away era named 1996 under the album Karen Carpenter.

FAVE LINES: This moment's ours | Tonight's the night | And if we fall in love | Well, that's alright

KAREN FACT: Cynthia Gibb played as Karen in the made-for-TV movie The Karen Carpenter Show on January 1, 1989. She lip-synced the songs to Karen's recorded voice except for the song The End of the World.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #2 MERRY CHRISTMAS, DARLING

Yes, I know you are expecting that I would start with "Since Christmas is just around the corner, yadda yadda, Yoda...". Sorry.

Since Christmas is just around the corner (sly me), I added up one of the most popular Carpenters' songs from the album Christmas Portrait. This was written by Richard Carpenter and Frank Pooler originally recorded in 1970.

FAVE LINES: Merry Christmas, darling | We're apart, that's true | But I can dream | And in my dreams | I'm Christmasing with you

KAREN FACT: Karen's musical inclination started when she was already in 1st year high school. She played the glockenspiel and was later interested with the drums, thanks to Frankie Chavez. She practiced with the use of a pair of chopsticks and a set of bar stools.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #1 ONE LOVE

Now, I would really go cheesy on this. This is my secret love song to my first crush who's now my fiance. You know, those days when you just stare at something and start daydreaming.

It was written by Richard Carpenter and John Bettis in 1971 for the album Carpenters. Sounds like a filler to me.

LYRICS:

One love in my young life

Took me somewhere I had never been

And I want to live again, breathe again

In the shelter of his brightly woven love song

So long I have wanted love to be

Sitting just this near to me

Now my waiting heart is free

Few are the choices we are given

The sands of time pass quickly by

One dream of my young life

Now stands holding out his hand to me

Now I can't help but believe that my whole life will be

Spent in one love

Campaign Jingle Suggestions (Isip Pilipinas)

2013-04-21T16:34:00.000+08:00

Hi there!

I was thinking of giving you the top graduation songs but the people I asked seem to find the idea boring or lame... or lame and boring. And everyone knows that Through The Years and Farewell are number 1 so there is no more anticipation factor to it. It was tough to think of themes for Mumomoment but that's the whole point, right? :)

And so I was commuting one day and I heard a jingle that sounded like Psy's Gangnam Style. I know that the artist made it clear that his song plus the horse dance are not allowed to be used for the election campaigns. Therefore:

DO NOT ELECT LAWBREAKERS!!!

Who is he? He never won the posts he was aiming for. He ran for mayor several times but he failed and now I believe he is running for the board member post. If you're from Calamba City, you know this guy very well. *insert evil laughter*

Because of this, I was inspired to write this blog to give Filipino politicians an idea of what the people want to hear, ya know, yung hip and madaling makabola ng tao.

And so I present to you, my dear music lovers:

TOP 3 TRAPO JINGLES

A child's wish: NO TO TRADITIONAL POLITICIANS! Thanks to matangapoy.blogspot.com.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 3 SINGLE LADIES by BEYONCE

This is one great song that can catch the interest of the female voters, which is very strong in number in this country. The politician just needs to be very creative and imaginative... and gutsy.

CAMPAIGN JINGLE LINES: You can change the lyrics to "If you like him/her, then you should've put him/her on Senate/Congress" or whatever. Then enters Sexbomb Dancers or G-Force, if the budget permits.

TRAPO TRIVIA: Joseph Ejercito Estrada and the incumbent mayor Alfredo Lim have been throwing daggers and bombs to each other these past few weeks. Just how big is Manila? Well, if Erap wins, he'd be able to get back on his feet and acquire more wives. That's how "investment-friendly" Manila is, that's why the place is always considered a "hot spot" during campaign season. Funny that the Lim-Estrada debate on TV (Click me to watch the debate on Youtube) has been so sensational that the Manilenos are now confused. ISIP, MAYNILA!

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 2 SABAY-SABAY TAYO by MARIAN RIVERA

This song composed by Geleen Eugenio can also be used as a campaign jingle because of its makamasa factor. This appeals to every Filipino who is glued on TV and is very much well-versed with Pinoy showbiz than Philippine history.

CAMPAIGN JINGLE LINES: Kay [insert 3-syllable name] tayo | siya'y ating iboto then enters Marian Rivera, again, if the budget permits. Oh, there's a "hireable" Kalokalike!

TRAPO TRIVIA: Benigno "PNoy/Noynoy" Simeon Cojuangco Aquino III will be alone no more IF nephew Benigno Simeon "Bam" Aquino IV and Tita Margarita "Ting-Ting" Cojuangco will make it to the senate. The rest of the clan is also busy building the "empire". For instance, incumbent 1st District Congressman Enrique Cojuangco is running unopposed for the same seat. There are rumors that the very sweet youngest presidential sister is going to run for Senate in 2016... Do I hear Kris Aquino for President?

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 1 BEER by ITCHYWORMS

The most important people to persuade are the ones who love drinking so why not use a jingle that could promote your name and beer at the same time? Hahaha!

CAMPAIGN JINGLE LINES: The politician needs to get a great singer or the band itself to get through this. The lines can be like this: Iboto n'yo si [insert 1-syllable name or just say it quickly] sa darating na halalaaaaaaaaan | Upang malunod na ang puso n'yo sa kaligayahaaaaaaaan | Bawat botong bigay ninyo | Ay sooooobrang gusto-gusto ko | 'Yong iboto para sa [insert position that must end with an o]

TRAPO FACTS: According to news, COMELEC is facing credibility issues. According to what I see everyday, they really are facing credibility issues -- getting worse on a daily basis. I think they need fangs if they are going to roll out their projects for the May 2013 elections. Technology equals trouble. Purple/ Blue nails, however dirty they may be, are still proof of voting. Trees are still used for posters. Nuisance candidates were allowed to run. TV plugs and billboards are over the limit. Bashing is allowed on newspapers -- usually gets a one-pager. This is going to be bloody.

Lyndon Gregorio's Vumivideoke Hits

2013-03-10T16:49:00.004+08:00

Yey! It's Graduation Month!

We are dedicating all the March blogs to the graduates of 2013 who still believe that education is the key to success (I thank you *tsunami walk while waving to the audience). Kudos to the parents and guardians as well because they are also graduating from spending (slow clap).

Our list for this week is from one of the Philippines' greatest cartoonists:

Lyndon Gregorio

National Artist in the making.

I actually sent a message to a few people requesting for their Mumomoment Hits and Lyndon was the first to reply (thanks to blastbm.multiply.com for the picture I just grabbed in Google).

I am a comic book fan since I was a kid and I thank my ex-boyfriend for introducing Beerkada to me. I am a very frustrated artist and I really envy people like Lyndon who were given the talent to just sit there, think of fun and pun, and ink it. How amazing, right?

It seems that comic art is kind of a "dead" industry in our country but thanks to a lot of otakus whose passion inspire a lot of our artists. Hello? We're like super talented! Like I'm talking about globally-demanded talent. Duh?

Back to the list before I make gigil pa. The list contains songs Filipino videoke addicts love singing kesehodang hindi nila abot ang tono at hatinggabi na. Put ya hands up in the air yo! We are all guilty about it, most especially with call center friends who love "team buildings" (Team Building = One Team + Booze + Videoke!). Ang saya saya!

So to all the addicts, here is our:

BEERKADA VUMIVIDEOKE HITS!

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 3 TAKE ON ME by a-ha

A-Ha was a Norwegian pop band formed when I was born (very youthful). The band was considered a one-hit wonder because of this song.

FAVE LINES: Oh the things that you say | Is it life or just a play | My worries away | You're all the things I've got to remember

a-ha FACTS: The three members of the band were appointed Knights of the 1st Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav for their contribution to Norwegian music. The Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav is granted as a reward for distinguished services to their country and mankind.

Their final concert entitled Ending On A High Note was a tour in Europe, USA, Canada, South America, Japan and Russia. The last shows were in Oslo.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 2 THROUGH THE FIRE by CHAKA KHAN

The artist's name is actually a gay word for a not-so-pretty person/ situation but given Chaka's talent, she is more than gorgeous.

FAVE LINES: You touch me and something in me knew | What I could have with you | Now I'm not ready to kiss that dream goodbye

CHAKA KHAN FACTS: Chaka Khan is considered to be the Queen of Funk-Soul. Her real name is Yvette Marie Stevens.

The ten-time Grammy Award winning American singer- songwriter is a vegan, saying she adopted the diet to lose weight and combat high blood pressure and Type-2 diabetes. In the past, Chaka struggled with drug abuse and alcoholism. Her drug use, which at times included cocaine and heroin, ended sometime in the early 90s. She would have an on-and-off combat with alcoholism until 2005 when she declared herself sober.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 1 ALONE by HEART

The ultimate videoke song of all videoke songs - Alone. Wuhoo! This is every bitter woman's theme song on every inuman session. Lupet.

FAVE LINES: But the secret is still my own | And my love for you is still unknown | Alone

HEART FACTS: Heart's Ann and Nancy Wilson are hailed the first ladies of Classic Rock by the Rolling Stone.

Ana on making music in the 80s: In the 1980s [making music] became uncomfortable. Music became less understandable in the wake of the new MTV era. You weren't supposed to be anything other than a pop star, to not go deeper than that. It was really strange. It was suffocating, image-wise. What you could talk about in a song changed; if you were misunderstood, you were really misunderstood -- taken literally. That's why Nancy and I felt so stifled, yet that's our biggest commercial success. But that's the way sh*t goes when you sell millions of records but you're dying inside.

Thank you to Lyndon for being down to earth and reaching out to fans like me. Follow the adventures of the Beerkada on their website: www.beerkada.net, like their page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/beerkadacomics and please buy the comic books for crying out loud. Ganbatte!!!

Aiko's 10 Fun Songs

2013-02-25T13:26:00.005+08:00

Yes, we are very much powered by PLDT MyDSL and I love it!

It's just great to know that I am related to a lot of people born on the love month. As promised, here's our 3rd installment with yet another celebrator's list.

These songs are from a lovely, young lady that happens to be a huge fan of fun. and other not-so-mainstream, not-yet-noticed-by-the-judgmental-society musicians. She worries that her infatuation might end up once an artist or a band becomes too popular. But what I like about her is that she knows her music and that lyrics is the most important part of any song. She believes that a song is a memory, not just a bunch of words with melody.

Ladies, gentlemen and the whole LGBT community, let's all welcome the newest convert to reading my blog, my 3rd audience:

Miss Aiko Yerro

Kawaii! ^_^v

Okay, pervs. She already denied being Japanese and she's taken. So sorry. Let's go back to music, shall we? :)

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 10 ALLISON by BRANDON BOYD

Yes, Brandon Boyd was number 1 on my "Marriable" Rockstars List in college. Well, during my time, he's like the hottest human ever created by the good Lord up above. However, due to his physical situation, he was replaced by Daniel Padilla. Oh, he's not a rockstar? Okay, let's put Brandon back then... :)

FAVE LINES: I'm not going to get too sentimental | like those other sticky valentines | 'Cause I don't know if you are loving somebody | I only know it isn't mine

BRANDON FACTS: Aside from being the frontman of the band Incubus, Brandon writes and paints. Not like the kinder writing and painting, you moron. He already published two books: White Fluffy Clouds and From the Murks of the Sultry Abyss and celebrated his first solo painting show titled Ectoplasm.

I still find him yummy.

Tweet him! @mybrandonboyd

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 9 BRICK by BEN FOLDS FIVE

Again, Aiko loves songs with impressive words -- one of them is this song by Ben Folds Five.

FAVE LINES: As weeks went by | It showed that she was not fine | They told me "Son, it's time | To tell the truth" | And she broke down | And I broke down

BEN FOLDS FIVE FACTS: The band is actually a trio. Ben said, "I think it sounds better than Ben Folds Three." Their breakup actually led to a successful reunion, complete with band tours and album galore.

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Ben-Folds-Five/408278449201590

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 8 WHY DOES IT ALWAYS RAIN ON ME by TRAVIS

A very tricky question. Everyone can relate to this. We lie when we were 17, right? LOL!

FAVE LINES: Why does it always rain on me? | Is it because I lied when I was seventeen? | Why does it always rain on me? | Even when the sun is shining | I can't avoid the lightning

TRAVIS FACTS: They are from Glasgow in Scotland categorized as post-Britpop. The band almost called it quits when their drummer Neil Primrose broke his neck after he jumped head-first into a shallow pool while they were on tour in France. He almost died due to spinal damage. But this incident made the band "regroup and re-evaluate", thus producing more depth into their musicality.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 7 FLOWERS IN THE WINDOW by TRAVIS

A sweet, glad-sad-mad love song. Ahhh! <3

FAVE LINES: 'Cause to stand up, out in the crowd | You are one in a million | And I love you so | Let's watch the flowers grow

ADD-ON FACTS: This song is from Travis' album The Invisible Band. The album spent 54 weeks on the UK Album charts, being number 1 since debut. Flowers in the Window was actually composed long before the release of their album The Man Who. Paul McCartney co-wrote the song but he was not credited for it.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 6 JUST GIVE ME A REASON by P!NK feat. NATE RUESS

It became one of our LSS since its release to the Philippine pop public. The music video was much anticipated, too, as it showed P!nk's hot husband, Carey Hart.

FAVE LINES: Just give me a reason | Just a little bit's enough | Just a second we're not broken just bent | And we can learn to love again

P!NK FACTS: Pink has been described as an artist who has changed the scope of pop music, but has hardly received recognition for it. But this fact never stopped her from making great music. Her well-recognized powerful vocals become greater when she stopped smoking.

About her fashion sense, P!nk told In Style: "I'm eclectic. I'm a tomboy, but I'm kind of a hippie and kind of a gangster... I don't know if that's a good thing, but it is my thing." She is almost a vegan, though she eats chicken and fish occasionally.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 5 SOME NIGHTS by FUN.

We first featured fun. last year (see Gaget's Happy 10) and a lot of changes had taken place since. Well, they just won 2 Grammy's and got nominated to a few more categories, just those. Big leap for an indie pop band? Not really. YES, REALLY!!!

FAVE LINES: Well, some nights I wish that this all would end | 'Cause I could use some friends for a change | And some nights I'm scared you'll forget me again | Some nights I always win, I always win...

FUN. FACTS: fun. won the Grammy Award for Best New Artist and the Grammy Award for Song of the Year for We Are Young. I guess their old band, The Format's breakup was a blessing in disguise after all. They are selling records and touring the world.

fun. along with designer Rachel Antonoff have collaborated to create the Ally Coalition, an organization supporting the LGBTQ rights.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 4 HANDS DOWN by DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL

Dashboard Confessional is love. Ever since. Aww!

FAVE LINES: And you stood at your door with your hands on my waist | and you kissed me like you meant it | And I knew that you meant it | that you meant it | that you meant it

DASHBOARD CONFESSIONAL FACTS: They have been active in making awesome "cheesy" rock since 1999. The band was supposed to be a solo side project of the frontman Chris Carrabba while he was in Further Seems Forever.

MySpace: www.myspace.com/dashboardconfessional
Facebook: www.facebook.com/DashboardConfessional

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 3 THE GAMBLER by FUN.

Sweetest. Love. Song. Ever. Reminds me of Up. Aww...

FAVE LINES: 'Til this day, you swore you'd be here 'til we decide that it's our time | But it's not time, you never quit in all your life | So just take my hand and know that I will never leave your side | You're the love of my life, you know that I will never leave your side

ADD-ON FACTS: The song is actually about Nate's parents' undying love and and affection. It mentioned the time when the family moved to Arizona from Iowa. The song also mentioned Nate and Libbie (son and daughter).

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 2 WHY AM I THE ONE? by FUN.

I know, I know! Aiko just can't get enough of FUN.

FAVE LINES: And I just want to stay in bed | and hold you like I used to | You know that I am home | so darling if you love me | would you let me know...

ADD-ON FACTS: Nate, after winning for We Are Young, jokingly said, "I don't know what I was thinking, writing the chorus for this song. If this is in HD, everybody can see our faces, and we are not very young."

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 1 CARRY ON by FUN.

And to top it all, the song that carries the positivity when you feel like the society is against you. Every time someone makes me feel low, I carry on. :)

FAVE LINES: If you're lost and alone | Or you're sinking like a stone | Carry on | May your past be the sound | Of your feet upon the ground | Carry on

ADD-ON FACTS: Aiko dreams of watching a FUN. concert here in the Philippines. Hello, Ovation Productions? :)

Happy birthday, Aiko. May this new year adds wisdom and experience to you. God bless! Love you much!

MUMOMOMENT HIT #1 HUMBLE KING by LAURA HACKETT

I am impressed with Laura. She knows that voice can make her rake millions of fans, dollars, endorsements and awards. She didn't go mainstream because of the passion to share the music to the quiet Christian community. Just as I have thought, this blog is going to be very serious.

RATED PG: GERVY'S TOP 6

2013-02-11T15:00:00.000+08:00

At last! We are now powered by PLDT MyDSL! Yay!

As we celebrate the love month, the Chinese New Year and the end of Midterms for students, we would like to pay homage to the old person who has never read any of my blogs and has always made sure that I know how much cholesterol intake I get on a daily basis. He's the other half of Rated: PG (our "program" that will hopefully be up very soon), ladies and gentlemen:

Gervase Prado!

Which one is Gervs? Hmmm...

There's the FB link but you can also follow him on Twitturr: @gervy_boy

His list is very interesting, given his age. LOL! (I'm so loving it when I could just bash him knowing that he can't get even. Hahaha!) Oh well, this is supposed to be my gift for his birthday so I will try to be nice. Try is the word, but I can't promise. Hahaha!

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 6 THE MAN WHO CAN'T BE MOVED by THE SCRIPT

I know my bestfriend is really cheesy and all but I didn't know he is that cheesy. I've got to admit, this one nails it all. :)

FAVE LINES: Some try to hand me money, they don't understand | I'm not broke I'm just a broken hearted man | I know it makes no sense, but what else can I do | How can I move on when I'm still in love with you

THE SCRIPT FACTS: Amidst autotune and live singing issues, I still find this band an amazing one because of their poetry. You can definitely feel the soul of their music through their lyrics.

Mark on their new album #3: "I haven’t played it for anybody and I need a minute with that song. I can’t even tell you if it is a good song or not. It’s a page from my diary, I produced and wrote it but I have to walk away from it. It is just a weird one. It is a touchy subject for me – I lost both my parents quite young and it was a real dark point in my life. Like Danny said, it is something I have never talked about until now. I don’t know if we will ever find the right moment to play that live at all. I can’t even picture playing it live because it is so personal."

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 5 SMOKE ON THE WATER by DEEP PURPLE

Now, there's age! Hahaha!

FAVE LINES: No matter what we get out of this | I know I know we'll never forget | Smoke on the water and fire in the sky | Smoke on the water...

DEEP PURPLE FACTS: The English band was formed in 1968 considered to be one of the pioneers of heavy metal and modern hard rock. "Smoke On The Water" song is a true story based on how a Swiss casino burnt down during a Frank Zapper and Mothers of Intervention concert in 1971. Russian president Dmitry Medvedev is a big fan of Deep Purple. He has all albums of the band.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 4 CHASING CARS by SNOW PATROL

Who doesn't like Snow Patrol? :) You may not be a fan, but I know that you bumped into this song one moment in your life and got the point. ^_^

FAVE LINES: All that I am | All that I ever was | Is here in your perfect eyes | They're all I can see

SNOW PATROL FACTS: Snow Patrol’s debut album Songs For Polarbears was a critical success but a commercial flop. The single Chasing Cars, taken from the album Eyes Open, was a massive hit both in the UK and the US. It was used in the season finale of US medical show Grey’s Anatomy and was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 3 YELLOW by COLDPLAY

One of my all-time favorites, Yellow shows deep affection. Well, I'm a lyric geek so the words matter. :)

FAVE LINES: Your skin, oh yeah, your skin and bones | Turn into something beautiful | D'you know? | For you I bleed myself dry | For you I bleed myself dry

COLDPLAY FACTS: The band wrote Yellow and co-produced it with British record producer Ken Nelson for their debut album, Parachutes (2000). The song's lyrics are a reference to band vocalist Chris Martin's unrequited love. Oh, that's why Mo Twister loves this band!

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 2 LIKE A STONE by AUDIOSLAVE

I was not a big fan of Audioslave but if I were to marry someone, it's either Brandon Boyd or Chris Cornell. <3

FAVE LINES: For all that I've blessed | And all that I've wronged | In my dreams until my death | I will wander on

AUDIOSLAVE FACTS: Critics initially described Audioslave as an amalgamation of Soundgarden and Rage Against The Machine, but by the band's second album, Out of Exile, it was noted that they had established a separate identity. Audioslave disbanded in February 2007 when Cornell issued a statement announcing that he was permanently leaving the band "due to irresolvable personality conflicts as well as musical differences."

Oh well...

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 1 ENTER SANDMAN by METALLICA

It was one of my uncles who exposed me to Metallica when I was young. So that makes my best friend like an uncle to me, no? Wahahaha!

FAVE LINES: Something's wrong, shut the light | Heavy thoughts tonight | And they aren't of snow white

METALLICA FACTS: The band is considered to be one of the founding "big four" of thrash metal alongside Slayer, Megadeth and Anthrax. Metallica was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. The band was ranked by MTV as the third greatest heavy metal band in history, was listed 5th on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock and was number 1 on VH1's 20 Greatest Metal Bands list. March 7, 1999 is the official Metallica Day in San Francisco.

Ang Lalaki. Bow.

2013-01-14T01:21:00.000+08:00

I missed blogging a lot. Like really. Thanks to PLDT DSL for making paasa.

Since I won't be around much, Mumomoment will be not much "fed" but I promise I will be back... when I am not too lazy to blog, too.

Taking a detour on videos, here's my Top 10 List on how to deal with men. I chose writing this in Filipino to add Filipino humor but translations are available at $2.50 per word. LOL!

Hindi ako eksperto sa pagkakaroon ng jowa. In fact, single ako.

But, again, hindi ako eksperto.

Huwag mo idugtong yung "Last mo na yan". Minsan kasi ang lalaki masunurin, baka habambf or habambuhay siyang maging corny, hala ka.

That's what makes you compatible. Tandaan: Opposites attract.

2. Magpakatotoo ka. E ano kung malakas ka mag-burp? Kumain kayo, nabusog kayo. Mas nakakahiya namang umutot ng wagas, di ba? Mag-contest pa kayo ng palakasan, why not. Basta ang punto don, huwag kang magsinungaling o magpanggap na ibang tao ka.

At ang pinakaimportante sa lahat...

1. Huwag papipiliin kung DoTA o ikaw. Masasaktan ka lang.

IBAHAGI. BE INFORMED. AT SIYEMPRE, MAGING MASAYA. ^_^

Crazy Hospital Songs Of The Bored

2012-11-11T16:36:00.003+08:00

I am free of dextrose! Oooh Wee!!!

So I was admitted during the Halloween break and boy! was it a fun fun day. Not.

The Room. More pictures on FB Album "One More Chance". That is if you're interested anyways.

I would like to snatch this opportunity to thank the ever-patient and amazing people of Calamba Doctors' Hospital who took care of me for one week:

- Dr. Pat "Gloc9" Retusto, the attending physician

- Dr. Ed Cuadra, my pulmonologist

- Nurse Andrea Taobasares, the jolly afternoon shift nurse. YOU SHOULD BE PROMOTED!

- Nurse Melissa Hernandez, the night shift nurse who already left CDH

- Nurse Imman Sy, the sabit nurse from ER

- Nurse "Gwen Garci", to whom I was so stunned I didn't remember her real name

- The Chinese Nurse, who told us Jeric from Protege was just in the other building

- Nurse Frances Fegalquin, the blushing nurse

- Nurse F. Lee, the Sunday nurse

- Nurse Irahcel Pinpin, the cute dawn nurse

- Nurse N. Sucano and the rest of the Cardio-Pulmo staff who NEBbed me even at midnight

- Ate Marilhen and Ate Rebecca, who kept the room tidy and odorless

- The nutritionist and the confused meal boys who gave my Hypoallergenic Diet slip

One more week under medication (plus a lifetime of precautions and self-control) and I'm totally phlegm-free! Wuhoo! It was a real struggle and I thank GOD for giving me my "3rd" chance. :)

For some reason, I didn't like watching OR hearing TV so I opted not to use the television in my room, to my baby sister's dismay. Chenille was my bantay during the whole ordeal and was she very patient... and bored. So, we came up with retard songs that we made into round songs just to pass the time. Yes, we made them all seem endless. Nice.

After a lot of digression, ladies and gents, here are the...

CRAZY HOSPITAL SONGS OF THE BORED!

MUMOMOMENT HIT #5 GULONG NG PALAD by RENZ VERANO

I don't know who originally sang it but I chose Renz' version because it's his version that I know.

FAVE LINES: Gulong ng palad, ang buhay ay gulong ng palad... (and we go on and on and on)...

RENZ FACT: It's hard to find facts about him (I liked the page thinking that it's gonna gimme info but it didn't so I unliked it) but according to his FB Fan Page (he's got one!), his mother is from Paoay and his father from La Union, making him a Genuine Ilocano (and making this the longest sentence I've ever constructed in Mumomoment by far!).

I has bang... I coo'!

MUMOMOMENT HIT #4 EVER SINCE THE WORLD BEGAN by SURVIVOR

How can I forget this song when it was deliberately thwarted by a friend's friend? I told Chenille that funny story and we ended up singing this song like this: And we're just another piece of a puzzle | Just another part of the game | An old man touches me, yahoo...

THE LINES WERE ACTUALLY: And we're just another piece of the puzzle | Just another part of the plan | How one life touches the other | It's so hard to understand

SURVIVOR FACTS: I will never forget this band because they sang the song Eye of the Tiger which was popular in 1982, my birth year. Yay! They have already had 19 members who stayed, returned or didn't care anymore including frontman Jimi Jamison. They might release an album before this year ends or early 2013. Survivor, indeed.

I think I like those glasses. Really.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #3 SHE'S THE ONE by ROBBIE WILLIAMS

I dream that when it's time for me to strut down the aisle, this is the song in my background. I also wish it's Robbie singing it live, if it isn't too much to ask. So dear future husband, you know I don't settle for less. Can I just marry Robbie? :)

FAVE LINES: I was her, she was me | We were one, we were free | And if there's somebody calling me on | She's the one

ROBBIE FACTS: Robbie supports the following charities: UNICEF, Give It Sum, Testicular Cancer, Jeans For Genes, The Anthony Nolan Trust, Charity Karting 2003, The National Kidney Research Fund and Fashion Rocks. He bites his nails, has tendency to lose things (he affords to buy them again, anyway!) and burns candles at both ends. And I love him! <3

Rock DJ

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 2 GOOD TIME by OWL CITY featuring CARLY RAE JEPSEN

It's fun when all you know is the Chorus. Yeah, and the Uh-Oh part. It's always a good time.

FAVE LINES: Doesn't matter when | It's always a good time then

OWL CITY FACTS: Owl City is Adam Young. He records all his music in his basement. He has insomnia.

He may have Bieber's hair but this guy is way more talented... and manly.

MUMOMOMENT HIT#1 AFTER ALL by PETER CETERA & CHER

And our top hit is a lurve song, thanks to the new teleserye A Beautiful Affair starring Bea and Lloydie. Chenille and I would sing this song before we sleep and would get stuck in the middle, making it a powerful round song. Yeah!

FAVE LINES: After all the stops and starts | We keep comin' back to these two hearts | Two angels who've been rescued from the fall

PETER CETERA QUOTE: The rut I was in with the people that I had been previously been with it took the heart right out of me.

CHER FACTS: Cher is known as a singer, an actress and a flamboyant fashion icon. She is the mother of Chastity, now Chaz, Bono.

Rumor has it that Peter got annoyed with Cher during the recording of the song because of her being primadonna.

PETER: Diva. CHER: I know, right?

Hope you guys enjoyed this week's hits. Thanks to Lyrics007, E-Lyrics, Metro Lyrics, A-Z Lyrics, I Am Fan, Youtube and Wikipedia.

Madstick's 10 Mad Songs

2012-10-28T20:16:00.000+08:00

Other than being lazy, I was sick for a few weeks.

I thought it's best to start this blog with a lame excuse.

Hey! I am so back. :)

Our hits for today are courtesy of the birthday boy Alvin "Madstick" Baes.

The Missus, Aileen Baes. Yes, it was a double celebration for the power couple.

3 cakes, 2 celebrators. Alvin's got too much hyper cells thus the blur.

The Conti's cake was actually enough to make me burp out loud. Yum!

If it's not Iron Man, it's not Alvin. :)

Mad.

It was nice seeing you again!

Alvin's list is a very interesting mix of ROCK "genres" (or phases at that) from the very-far past to the not-so-far past. It's as wild as a 16-year-old boy's raging hormones. Oh, he said this is actually IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER, so don't blame me if you'd get confused somewhere. :)

Fasten your seat belts, sweeties. This is one loud rawr-uhmp-aaah!

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 10 MY IMMORTAL by EVANESCENCE

I was not really shocked that this is on his list. Why, Amy Lee is hot!

FAVE LINES: I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone | But though you're still with me | I've been alone all along

FUN FACT: They sold their souls to a goblin named "Bawg".

Evanescence. Or caption this yourself.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 9 INTO THE GLORY RIDE by UNLEASHED

Orgasmic.

FAVE LINES: Hail Thor and the fallen | Join with Odin at slain hall

FACTS UNLEASHED: According to their website, the band's musical vision was to keep to the roots and develop within their own style instead of changing with the winds. They call their genre Viking Death Metal.

Rocking Sweden and the world since 1989.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 8 DESTROY EVERYTHING by HATEBREED

Songs like this are considered noise by some but when you go through the lyrics, it actually makes perfect sense.

FAVE LINES: Cleanse this world with flame | End this, cleanse this | Rebuild and start again

HATEBREED FACT: "Our music brings people of all races together over the world," answered Hatebreed after being "cyberbullied" by a CNN writer in August.

Love Hate.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 7 NOW YOU'VE GOT SOMETHING TO DIE FOR by LAMB OF GOD

You've got to love this band because I do. Great reason, yes?

FAVE LINES: Stoke the flame of the empire | Live to lie another day | Face of hypocrisy | Raping the democracy | Apocalyptic, we count the days

FUN FACTS: The lyrical themes of the band often have a double meaning. They frequently use biblical references, but often convey anti-religious sentiment.

And your boy bands giggle...

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 6 OVER THE HILLS AND FAR AWAY by THE MISSION

From UK with love... and rollin'.

FAVE LINES: A fleeting glance upon your silken face Medusa | And you can turn my heart and soul to stone

FUN FACTS: The Mission UK is a gothic rock band formed in 1986 from the splinters of the freshly dissolved rock band The Sisters of Mercy. Like them on Facebook: The Mission.

UK Men. Hot and Bloody Talented.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 5 TEARS by THE CHAMELEONS

It wasn't only Harry Potter. UK has come a long way since The Beatles and Rolling Stone.

FAVE LINES: Well we were younger then | And the days were long and slow | But were we wiser then? | I couldn't say, I wouldn't know

CHAMELEON FACT: The dream pop/ post-punk band was formed in Middleton, Rochdale, Greater Manchester, England in 1981.

You don't need to pluck your brows just to be handsome, roight, guys?

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 4 I MELT WITH YOU by MODERN ENGLISH

It's almost on the top of my Make Out Songlist. Har!

FAVE LINES: Moving forward using all my breath | Making love to you was never second best | I saw the world crashing all around your face | Never really knowing it was always mesh and lace

ME FACT: They were originally known as The Lepers.

Bad hair day, eh?

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 3 BOYS DON'T CRY by THE CURE

Every man knows this song by heart... to hide the tears in their eyes.

FAVE LINES: Now I would do most anything | To get you back by my side | But I just keep on laughing | Hiding the tears in my eyes

THE CURE FACT: They were originally called the Easy Cure and was formed in 1976 by schoolmates Robert Smith, Michael Dempsey and Laurence Tolhurst.

You don't mess with the messy-haired.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 2 EVERYBODY'S FREE TO WEAR SUNSCREEN by BAZ LUHRMANN

The first time I've heard this I fell in love with it. It's one of those "narrative" songs that are funny yet describes the ill truth about life.

FAVE LINES: Respect your elders | Don't expect anyone else to support you | Maybe you have a trust fund | Maybe you'll have a wealthy spouse | But you'll never know when either one will run out

FUN FACT: The song is actually based from an essay written by Mary Schmich in 1997 published in the Chicago Tribune. Baz Luhrmann is an Australian film director, screenwriter and producer. Luhrmann explains that Anton Monsted, Josh Abrahams and he were working on the remix when Monsted received an email with the supposed Kurt Vonnegut speech. They decided to use it but were doubtful of getting through to Vonnegut for permission before their deadline, which was only one or two days away. While searching the internet for contact information they came upon the "Sunscreen Controversy" and discovered that Schmich was the actual author. They emailed her and, with her permission, recorded the song the next day.

Sunscreen.

MUMOMOMENT HIT# 1 PAGDURUSA by RUMBLEBELLY

This is a different Mumomoment... it's Mumemetal. Music at its finest.

FAVE LINES: Anuman ang ginawa nuong una | Pagsisisi ang pumapangalawa | Kasalanan at katawang pagnasa | Pansarili at walang awa

RUMBLEBELLY FACT: Xzander, Jimmy, Tatel and Alvin (yes, the birthday boy himself) formed the band in 1993. They originally wanted to play grunge but they discovered that they all share the same passion with death metal music. They made a total of 4 official recordings for Ivory and Vicor records across 4 compilation albums. Man, institusyon kayo! ^_^

1994. Ang pogi ni Tatang Madstick.

That's it, pancit. Thank you, Alvin, for sharing your list. See you again very soon!

Tattooed On My Mind - Val's Top 5

2012-09-12T11:00:00.004+08:00

Sorry for the very late Mumomoment blog. My dear old lappy is nowhere in sight and the only dear computer I borrowed from my youngest sister crashed. So much pain.

Speaking of pain, our list today is from a lady who, I think, loves pain. Why?

I has tattoo. I rocks.

She loves tattoos. (DISCLAIMER: I don't own the following photos. This is to promote AppleHead Tattoo and GOOD HAND Tattoo, the shops you can trust. Hehehe!)

World, this is my friend, Valerie Ann Tolentino.

Val's back. This picture is a property of Good Hand Tattoo

Val's arm. This picture is a property of AppleHead Tattoo

This is Val's left arm, obviously. This is in memory of her sister, Flora. Click this to understand.

Tattoos have played a huge role in our culture and only a few people appreciate these ancient marks. Well, I won't be arguing with you if you don't like them. I just wanna show off Val's tattoos. :D

Okay, enough digression. Already. Here's Val's top five songs that are tattooed on her mind.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #5 LOVE SONG by 311

Originally sung by The Cure, Love Song is, well, a love song. :) You don't really need to expound something really obvious, do you?

FAVE LINES: Whenever I'm alone with you | You make me feel like I am home again | Whenever I'm alone with you | You make me feel like I am whole again.

311 FACTS: The band was formed in 1988 by vocalist/guitarist Nick Hexum, lead guitarist Jim Watson (who would later be replaced by Tim Mahoney), bassist Aaron "P-Nut" Wills and drummer Chad Sexton. In 1992, Doug "SA" Martinez joined to sing and provide turntables for 311's later albums, rounding out the current line-up.

On March 11, 2000, 311 began celebrating an unofficial holiday of their own creation, which they called 311 Day.The band chose the date based on its numerical association with their own name: March is the third month of the year, so March 11 is written as 3/11. Every other year on March 11, the band performs an extended concert for thousands of their fans.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #4 INSIDE THE MIND OF A KILLER by URBANDUB featuring SINOSIKAT

INSIDE THE MIND OF A KILLER

Val and I love Gab Alipe. Like SUPER! Oh yeah, best wishes to Lalay!

I was given the chance to work with this band during Nokia's Independent Artists' Club featuring talented indie bands and promoting the ExpressMusic phone a few years back. They are really amazing and down-to-earth. And Gab is super cute! I sound very high school! Ahahay!

URBANDUB FACTS: Urbandub is a Filipino rock band from Cebu City, Philippines. Since its inception in 2000, the band's line-up has consisted of Gabby Alipe (vocals, guitar), John Dinopol (guitar, vocals), and Lalay Lim (bass, vocals). The band's current drummer is Janjan Mendoza, who has been with the band since 2003.

Urbandub is the first indie band who has released albums nationwide thru EMI’s help. EMI also featured Urbandub in a Pinoy rock compilation entitled FULL VOLUME with a remake of Sade’s No Ordinary Love. The band recently garnered the attention of fans throughout Southeast Asia with a recent tour in Singapore.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #3 PRODIGAL by SALAMIN

Paolo Valenciano is famous not because he is Gary V's son. Taking a different path, this Valenciano is a great addition and addiction to Pinoy Rock Music. Genius!

The video is awesome. The song is powerful. Jericho is handsome! LOL

FAVE LINES: I watch the late night's stip rip through you | You're cut up; I know you too well | You try your best to be somebody else | You forget that you can't hide | No, no you can't hide

SALAMIN FACTS: Salamin is so indie they don't even have a Wiki entry. Well, for now. With the band's overflowing talent, a fan would definitely be geeky one of these days...

Like their page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/salaminpilipinas/info

MUMOMOMENT HIT #2 SEXTAPE by DEFTONES

Well, this is not what you expect it to be. No Katrina. No Paris. I'm sorry to disappoint you. :P

FAVE LINES: The ocean takes me into watch you shaking | Watch you weigh your powers | Tempt with hours of pleasure | Take me one more time | Take me one more wave

DEFTONES FACTS: Well, you may just read the not-so-updated site www.deftonesworld.com or just click that Deftones link and it will lead you to their Facebook page for gigs. Much love, Chi!

MUMOMOMENT HIT #1 SOMETHING ABOUT US by BALANCE AND THE TRAVELING SOUNDS

This is one of the first Mumomoment videos we've featured (Click this> Hit Number 8). Special thanks to Michael Marlon Apuan for the jazzy influence. :)

FAVE LINES: It might not be the right time | I might not be the right one | But there's something about us | I want to say | 'Cause there's something between us anyway

BALANCE AND THE TRAVELING SOUND FACTS: This powerhouse of soul, funk, jazz and hip-hop-inspired grooves is composed of seven diverse musicians from a variety of metropolises up and down the Golden Coast (Los Angeles, San Francisco and San Diego). You Had Me At Mumomoment - Pat's Top 5

2012-09-02T19:33:00.000+08:00

Great first Sunday of September! I have been liking a lot of Facebook statuses about the -ber months and Christmas and I haven't posted anything about it so Happy -ber Season! To top that, Mariz forgave me. I really thought it was just PMS and I was right. Yey!

Talking about happy and great, our Mumomoment Hits List for tonight is from a very dear friend who celebrated his birthday on the 29th of August. This is my gift to him, being a loyal Mumomoment fan.

To Atty. Patrick Lubaton, Happy Birthday!

Pat is more into power ballads. Power ballads came into existence in the early 1970s when, according to Charles Aaron, "rock stars attempted to convey profound messages to audiences." This is inspired by the emotional singing of soul artists to produce slow tempo songs often building to a loud and emotive chorus backed by drums, electric guitars and sometimes choirs. So it's not just the tight leather jeans, loud pink boas or mousse-abused hair; it's all-soul. This is the real "emo" -- where it all started.

DISCLAIMER: Views expressed after each video are from the author with no intentions of making fun of the person she begged to come up with this list. The lines are really heavy, the author is just plain retard. The author included poster pictures to compensate.

Ladies and gentlemen, Pat's Top 5 Hits!

MUMOMOMENT HIT #5 JUST TAKE MY HEART by MR. BIG

This Mr. Big song is not a big hit on videoke compared to the other Mr. Big songs (excuse my limited vocabulary). Every emo kid today can definitely relate to the song and literally pluck their hearts out of their chests. I don't think it's a fun collection, though.

FAVE LINES: Just take my heart when you go | I don't have the need for it anymore | I'll always love you but you're too hard to hold | Just take my heart when you go

MR. BIG FACTS: Mr. Big was a Los Angeles band of rock veterans that formed back in 1988. The veterans? Vocalist Eric Martin (Eric Martin Band), guitarist Paul Gilbert (Racer X), bassist Billy Sheehan (David Lee Roth) and drummer Pat Torpey (Robert Plant). After hiring Herbie Herbert, the former manager of Europe and Journey, Mr. Big signed with Atlantic records and released their 1989 self- titled debut. Although the album was not a huge hit in the USA, it was in Japan. The band toured with Rush to support this album.

Mr. Big. The hair defines the glam.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #4 UNTIL YOU SUFFER SOME (FIRE & ICE) by POISON

After hearing this song, you would believe me that heartbreak has been a fad since Old Testament. I thought Poison was an all-girl band, thanks to fashion. I fell in love with this band the first time I heard them, ages ago. I know I digress a lot.

FAVE LINES: Well, it sure seems to me nothing matters tonight | And all those things we worked out, they got lost in the fight | It's not enough, girl, that I gave you my soul | I just want to know if we've got anything left at all and I say

POISON FACTS: Poison is one of the greatest glam rock bands of all time and with a very interesting history. The only original member not part of the band in 1983 was C.C. Deville. Deville was hired after the original guitarist left. Rumor has it that C.C. was chosen over Slash (Guns 'N' Roses), who also auditioned, due to his high energy.

By 1991, after relentless touring, tensions began to grow within the band (as well as drug use). After a drunken MTV Music Video Awards performance by C.C., things between C.C. and Bret Michaels came to blows. By 1992, C.C. was fired from the band and guitarist Richie Kozen took over. After one album, and the discovery that Kozen was romantically involved with Rikki Rocket's fiance, Kozen was soon out. By 1996, C.C. and Michaels had patched things up, and C.C. was back in the band. A very colorful band, indeed.

Poison. No, they are not from Ricky Reyes' Beauty School Plus.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #3 I REMEMBER YOU by SKID ROW

It's hard to recall when was the last time I listened to Skid Row. Well, before I posted this, of course. All I can remember is that I used to drool over Sebastian Bach. Girls, don't deny it. He's freakin' hot!

FAVE LINES: Woke up to the sound of pouring rain | The wind would whisper and I'd think of you | And all the tears you cried, that called my name | And when you needed me I came through

SKID ROW FACTS: Sebastian Bach joined Skid Row in 1987 but the band was formed in 1986 in Toms River, New Jersey. They became a popular club act on the east coast. Dave "The Snake" Sabo, had been friends with Bon Jovi for many years, and the two had a deal to help one another out in the event one made it big before the other. By 1988, Skid Row had signed a deal with Atlantic records and their self- titled debut album hit the racks in 1989.

By 1991, the band released the edgier album, Slave to the Grind, which was a huge success (number one the charts in the USA). Skid Row went on tours with Guns 'N' Roses in support of the album. By the mid-1990's, metal was barely alive, yet Skid Row still managed to release Subhuman Race and go on tour with Van Halen.

Skid Row. Not all power ballads are negative. I ♥ Sebastian!

MUMOMOMENT HIT #2 WHEN I SEE YOU SMILE by BAD ENGLISH

Nope this is not about the poor usage of the English language.

This is the only Bad English song I know. Well, I kinda like songs with the word rain or raining on it. Very deep me! This song brought 90s school girls to blushing. Guilty me! :)

FAVE LINES: And when the rain is falling, I don't feel it | 'Cause you're here with me now And one look at you, baby | Is all I'll ever need, is all I'll ever need

BAD ENGLISH FACTS: Bad English band members were: Ricky Phillips (bass guitar), John Waite (lead vocals), Jonathan Cain (keyboards), Neal Schon (lead guitar), Deen Castronovo (percussion).

By the release of their second album, Backlash in 1992, the band was running into creative differences regarding the band's sound. The debate among band members revolved around whether or not to stick with the pop metal sound that made them popular or go with a harder edge. I think that's when it all stopped. So much for seeing me smile. :(

Bad English. I has liking them songs.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #1 LOVE OF A LIFETIME by FIREHOUSE

I know, even before Pat texted me, that this is his ultimate Mumomoment song. We've talked about this before and it's great to know that his favoritest song is actually a positive one. I really wish he'd already find the love of his lifetime. :)

FAVE LINES: With every kiss our love is like brand-new | And every star up in the sky was made for me and you | Still we both know that the road is long | (But) we know that we will be together because our love is strong

FIREHOUSE FACT: Firehouse was an American band that heralded from Charlotte, North Carolina circa 1989. Although the band's claim to fame did not come until the early 1990s, their talent allowed them to ride the coat tails of 80's heavy metal while other bands were drowned out by the Grunge movement. Firehouse won the 1991 award for Favorite New Hard Rock Artist, beating out Grunge acts like Nirvana and Alice in Chains. Even as the 1990s rolled on and metal rolled out, Firehouse continued to remain extremely popular in Asia, Japan, South America and the UK. I can still hear their songs on the radio on a regular commute day!

In 2004, Firehouse became the first American rock band to tour India with 40,000 attendees in one of the shows.

Firehouse. Check out our chest hair, too.

Thanks, Pat, for trusting Mumomoment Hits with your Top 5. Happy birthday!

Let's make the world a better place! Ole!

I'm Sorry, Mariz! :'(

2012-08-26T22:38:00.000+08:00

I know what I did was the cruelest yet. Been too tactless... I don't wanna say anything but sorry.

This entry is dedicated to the most wonderful girl I have met... and, I pray, won't fade away. This is not enough, I know, but I will try and won't stop until she forgives me. Like a patient man, I will court her.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #5 I'M SORRY by JAIME RIVERA

I can see it in your eyes
There's a certain sadness
Was it me who made you cry
Oh please won't you tell me why
Was it something that I said
Or maybe how I reacted
Please don't make it hard for me
'Cause i'm willing to say I'm sorry

I'm sorry if I'm always out of sight
Or fail to kiss you goodnight
I never meant to leave you
I'm sorry if I've taken you for granted
For the crazy things I've said
I'm sorry I should have loved you instead

I can tell it with your smile
I know you're hurtin' inside
Will you ever forgive me
If I tell you that I am sorry

I'm sorry if I'm always out of sight
Or fail to kiss you goodnight
I never meant to leave you
I'm sorry if I've taken you for granted
For the crazy things I've said
I'm sorry I should have loved you instead

MUMOMOMENT HIT #4 SORRY FOR THE STUPID THINGS by BABYFACE

Sometimes we wish for the better
When we have it good as it gets
Sometimes the grass isn't greener
soon as we find out, we forget
Sometimes the fool doesn't know he's a fool
Sometimes a dog he don't know he's a dog
Sometimes I do stupid things to you
When I really don't mean it all

Sometimes a man
Is gonna be a man
It's not an excuse
It's just how it is
Sometimes the wrong
Don't know that they're wrong
Sometimes the strong
Ain't always so strong
Sometimes a girl
Is gonna be a girl
She don't wanna deal with all the drama in your world
God knows I don't mean to give it to you
So girl I'm sorry for the stupid things I wish I didn't do but I do

Oh so sorry, oh no, oh so sorry

Sometimes I wish I was smarter
Wish I was a bit more like you
Not making stupid decisions made at the last minute
You live to regret when it's through

Well, sometimes the fool doesn't know he's a fool
And sometimes a dog he don't know he's a dog
Sometimes I do stupid things to you
When I really didn't mean it all

Sometimes a man
Is gonna be a man
It's not an excuse
It's just how it is
Sometimes the wrong
Don't know that they're wrong
Sometimes the strong
Can't always be strong
Sometimes a girl
Is gonna be a girl
She don't wanna deal with all the drama in your world
God knows I don't mean to give it to you
So girl I'm sorry for the stupid things I wish I didn't do but I do

Sometimes the fool doesn't know he's a fool
Sometimes a dog he don't know he's a dog
Sometimes I do stupid things to you
When I really didn't mean it at all, at all

Sometimes a man
Is gonna be a man
It's not an excuse
It's just how it is
Sometimes the wrong
Don't know that they're wrong
Sometimes the strong
Ain't always so strong
Sometimes a girl
Is gonna be a girl
She don't wanna deal with all the drama in your world
God knows I don't mean to give it to you
So girl I'm sorry for the stupid things I wish I didn't do but I do

MUMOMOMENT HIT #3 I'M SORRY by 3RD STOREE

I know I said it,

I know I did it

Maybe I went overboard to prove a point

But sometimes my pride gets in the way

Maybe I need some time away to get my head together, yeah, yeah
Maybe this was my last chance (I may never)

I may never get to hold your hands again

I can say that I'm a better man

I'm sorry (Because you made me understand)
I'm so sorry that I tore your heart apart last night

(And I'm sorry)

And I'm sorry if I scarred you again today

(I didn't mean to take your dreams)

I didn't mean to take your dreams and make them seem so trite

(Mmm, I sincerely)
I sincerely (Oh)

Completely (Yeah)

Apologize for doin' what I did

Everything you taught me and everything you showed me

It never seemed that I would listen to anything

But you've got my attention more than you know I take it in,

I dealt with it but I waited too late to use it, oh, oh
Maybe this was my last chance (I never)

I may never get to hold your hands again (I can say)

I can say that

I'm a better man I'm sorry

(Because you made me understand)

I'm so sorry that I tore your heart apart last night (I'm so sorry)

And I'm sorry if I scarred you again today (I didn't to mean to hurt your heart)

I didn't mean to take your dreams and make them seem so trite

(Oh yeah)
(I sincerely)

I sincerely (Completely)

Completely apologize for doin' what I did

I've never ever been so you made me know

(Shameful for what I did)

(But you made me know one thing that I shoulda never did)
If you never take me back again

(I never, never)

I never wanted to burn this bridge

(If I could do it)
Do it (All over)

All over (Again)

Again I'll never mishandle you ever again

I'm so sorry that I tore your heart apart last night (I'm so sorry)

And I'm sorry if I scarred you again today (Oh)

(I'm never, never, never, never do it again)
I didn't mean to take your dreams and make them seem so trite

(Oh, make you seem so, oh)

I sincerely (I sincerely)

Completely (Completely)

Apologize for doin' what I did (Ho)

I'm so sorry that I tore your heart apart last night

(That I tore your heart)

And I'm sorry if I scarred you again today

(That I tore you apart)

(I didn't mean what I said)
I didn't mean to take your dreams and make them seem so trite

(I didn't mean what I did) (Baby)

I sincerely (Baby)

Completely (Baby)

Apologize for doin' what I did (Baby, oh, oh, oh)

I'm so sorry that I tore your heart apart last night (I can't say it no better, I'm sorry)

And I'm sorry if I scarred you again today

(I'm sorry, sorry)

(What do you want me to do?)
I didn't mean to take your dreams and make them seem so trite

(If I could do it all over again)

(I would try to make you understand)

I sincerely (That I'm a better man)
Completely (I'm a better man)

Apologize for doin' what I did (A better man for you, baby)

MUMOMOMENT HIT #2 ONE LAST TIME by KCI & JOJO

One last time, time, time

One last time, time, time
Yeah yeah

Who am I to say the hurt you are to feel?

The one who has the broken heart knows what it takes to heal

But if you understand the human that I am

Find it in your heart the place where lovers start, so we can try again

Then you can give me one last time

To hold you and make you realize the love that I have inside

I need to have you one last time here in my arms

I need you in my life, baby one last time, yeah

I know that I was wrong though I can't explain

I never meant to break your heart or push your love away

But she could never mean much of anything

'Cause love is more than physical, it's mental and it's spiritual and

We are spirits needing one last time

I wanna hold you and make you realize the love I have inside

I've gotta have you one last time, oh oh, here in my arms

I need you in my life

I was wrong but I wanna make it right, yeah

Just hold on, believe in love

And stay with me tonight one last time, oh oh

One last time, oh yeah

Who am I to say?

The future will reveal

One last time, time, time, one last time, time, time

MUMOMOMENT HIT #1 PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH MY HEART by JOSE MARI CHAN and REGINE VELASQUEZ-ALCASID

♥ This is her current favorite mumomoment song ♥

If you love me, like you tell me

Please be careful with my heart

You can take it, just don't break it

Or my world will fall apart

You are my first romance, and I'm willing to take a chance

That til life is through, I'll still be loving you

I will be true to you, just a promise from you will do

From the very start, please be careful with my heart

I love you and you know I do

There'll be no one else for me

Promise I'll be always true, for the world and all to see

Love has heard some lies softly spoken

And I have had my heart badly broken

I've been burned and I've been hurt before

So I know just how you feel, trust my love is real for you

I'll be gentle with your heart, I'll caress it like the morning dew

I'll be right beside you forever

I won't let our world fall apart

From the very start, I'll be careful with your heart

You are my first (and you are my last) romance

And I'm willing to take a chance (I've learned from the past)

That til life is through, I'll still be loving you

I will be true to you (only to you)

Just a promise from you will do

From the very start (from the very start)

Please be careful with...(I'll be careful with...) (my)(your) heart....

I LOVE YOU, BIDADORIA AND I'M REALLY SORRY :'(

Thank God I'm 30!

2012-08-19T19:48:00.000+08:00

It's my Big 3-0 on the 21st! I've got frustrated for a year but now that I am a few steps away from it, the fact makes me very excited.

This blog entry is dedicated to everyone who made my 30 years of existence colorful, wonderful and beautiful.

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 5 ANG HULING EL BIMBO by ERASERHEADS

I am a very huge Eraserheads fan. This is one of the songs that my sister, Dindi, recommended to me when I was still attempting to play the guitar. G-A7-C, right?

Guitar playing, dancing, singing -- performing altogether -- very high school. I had an amazing high school life. Thanks to my dear teachers, friends and bandmates, I discovered that I can do a lot of things.

FAVE LINES: Magkahawak ang ating kamay | At walang kamalay-malay | Na tinuruan mo ang puso ko | Na umibig ng tunay

EHEADS FACTS: The band found that they weren't good at playing covers, so they concentrated on writing their own material instead. "After all, if we committed a mistake, no one would recognize it since they don't know the song, right?" Buendia explained.

The band recorded a nine-song demo tape in the garage of Marasigan's provincial home (in Candelaria, Quezon) on January 6, 1991. They then shopped the demo cassette around record labels, clubs and radio stations, hoping to have their songs reach the public. However, they were rejected at every turn, with one recording label deeming that their demo was "not pop enough". In May 1991, a professor-friend teaching Humanities, Robin Rivera, helped them re-record and mix better versions of the demo songs on a four-track DAT recorder. The new demo was named Pop-U!, an irreverent response to those who turned them down.

The band got their name from the movie directed by David Lynch.

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 4 THE WAY YOU LOOK TONIGHT by FRANK SINATRA

I love this song especially when sung by my fathers. My real dad (yes, he has an FB account) loves to sing songs like this and dedicate them all to my mom. He might be grumpy at times but he's really sweet.

Every time we get the chance of seeing each other, my other dad would sing this song, too. He was like my father when I was still "floating away" in Makati. He would give me advices on life and love.

This one also goes out to my daddy in Ilagan, Isabela. He's actually my mom's dad and he is as lovely as how he sees us all.

Yes, I am a daddy's girl. ♥ I love you, dads!

FAVE LINES: Lovely ... Never, ever change | Keep that breathless charm | Won't you please arrange it ? | 'Cause I love you ... | Just the way you look tonight

FRANK SINATRA FACTS: "One thing that was tremendously important was learning the use of the microphone," Sinatra said. "Many singers never learned to use one. They never understood, and still don`t, that a microphone is their instrument. It`s like they are part of an orchestra, but instead of playing a saxophone, they`re playing a microphone." His thorough understanding of the technology resulted in recorded performances of unequalled sonic presence and impact.

Most videoke and karaoke bars in the Philippines have removed the song My Way by Frank Sinatra on their song lists. Why? Because a lot of people had died singing this song. It's so common that everyone has their opinion as to how it should be sung, thus, creating a This-Is-How-It-Should-Be-Done or You-Are-Not-A-Great-Singer atmosphere.

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 3 CHANGE THE WORLD by ERIC CLAPTON

For me, this is not a love song for just two people. I really love kids and this is my song for them. ♥

Children deserve to experience the world -- a changed world -- a not-so-perfect world but has all the beauties I loved when I was younger. I want them to hug trees, run through valleys, climb hills and mountains. If only I could, I would really change the world... for them.

FAVE LINES: That I can change the world | I would be the sunlight in your universe | You will think my love was really something good | Baby, if I could, change the world

ERIC CLAPTON FACTS: Eric never knew his father, because he was raised by his maternal grandparents. He found out that his father was a Canadian pilot when Eric was 53 years old.

QUOTE: "It's been very important throughout my career that I've met all the guys I've copied, because at each stage they've said, 'Don't play like me, play like you.'"

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 2 HANGING BY A MOMENT by LIFEHOUSE

This is one of the many songs that we used as soundtrack for our college short film project entitled "Lakad" to which I bagged the Best Scriptwriter award. It's very memorable because it was the first time I completed a script for a short film... you know, me being a slacker and all.

Lakad was about a struggling artist frustrated to paint a masterpiece about people. He searched the whole town by walking: ending up at his mother's place. She was quietly sleeping on a rocking chair when he saw her. Struck by inspiration, he started painting her. He left the eyes blank on the canvas because he wanted to capture his mother's lovely eyes. He tried waking her up, only to discover that she's already dead.

I miss college. ♥

FAVE LINES: Desperate for changing | Starving for truth | I'm closer to where I started | Chasing after you

LIFEHOUSE FACTS: Lifehouse has this song entitled Simon dedicated to outcasts. "I wrote this about a friend of mine who told me about his childhood. He was telling me how he went to school and was the outcast and everyone picked on him and called him names, and he didn't have one friend. I started feeling the same emotions he must have felt and just started writing these lyrics. I think some of the stuff from [growing up in] Hong Kong might have been related to that, not having any friends at that age and being, as a family, the outcast in a different culture. The feeling of being alone, of being abandoned, connects to that. So 'Simon' came really easily. I wrote it in about 15 minutes. These lyrics just poured out and I wrote them down and recorded it on the spot," says Jason.

Jason Wade learned martial arts as a child and was homeschooled.

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 1 IRIS by GOO GOO DOLLS

This City of Angels soundtrack is the soundtrack of my life. I don't really know why. FYI, it doesn't have anything to do with my lovelife. I think I just fell in love with the song the first time I heard it way back in high school.

Since I already mentioned the magic word, I think I can dedicate this song to all of "them" who I attempted to love deeply but failed. You are a part of who I am now and I still regard you as my dear friends. :) THank you for making me strong.

FAVE LINES: And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming | Or the moment of truth in your lies | When everything feels like the movies | Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive

GOO GOO DOLLS FACTS: John Rzeznik was approached to write a song for the City of Angels soundtrack, and the end product was "Iris". This song propelled the band to stardom, as it stayed on top of Billboard Hot 100 Airplay charts for a record-breaking 18 weeks, and was nominated for three Grammys that year. According to several interviews with Rzeznik, he was experiencing serious bouts of writer's block when he was approached, and was on the verge of quitting the band days before he wrote the song.

The then trio (John, Robby Takac and George Tutuska) picked their name from a True Detective ad for a toy called a Goo Goo Doll.

Let's make the world a better place! Ka-ciao!!!

OPM = Original Pilipino Mumomoment Hits!

2012-08-12T20:06:00.000+08:00

Mabuhay! I pray everyone is safe after that tumultuous, rambunctious and vociferous event that's not even a typhoon. (The big words are dedicated to those who love using amazing highfalutin words even if they all mean the same.)

Our Top 5 Hits for tonight are somehow connected to what just shocked the Philippines and the whole world. What the heck? It's more fun in in the Philippines! ^_^ Kudos to all Filipinos who, amidst the flood, still showed courage and humor. I daresay our spirits are WATERPROOF!

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 5 PAGSUBOK by ORIENT PEARL

They made noise in the late 90s not only because of their music but because of Naldy Padilla being involved with the lovely Karla Estrada. I am chismosa much. ^_^

The band was formed in 1993 with Naldy Padilla on vocals, Leo Awatin on lead guitar, Egan Bamberger on bass and Ritch Raymundo on drums. A lot of changes in the line-up later, the band settling with Ryan Gomez on bass and Dexter Panlilio on keyboards. For years, different guys manned the drums until they picked JB Mendrano to be the official drummer, often referred to as "permanent sessionist."

FAVE LINES: Ang buhay ay sadyang ganyan | Sulirani'y di mapigilan | Itanim mo lang sa 'yong pusong | Kaya mo yan....

FILIPINO FACT: Like any other race, we contemplate on the situation. We cry, we hate, we take the pain. What makes us different, though, is that we still smile when there's a camera. Look, our whole neighborhood is flooded but wait, there's a camera on the left. Pan and wave! SMILE MUNA!

What makes us beautiful is that we lighten up our burden. We know the issue -- we crack a joke about it and then move on... because we know we can make it through.

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 4 HANGGANG MAY PAG-IBIG by APO HIKING SOCIETY

They didn't conquer the noon-time slot but they conquered our hearts with their songs. The songs are so popular that there is a musicale arranged to pay tribute to APO. Oh yeah! And an upcoming movie!

The Apolinario Mabini Hiking Society, later popularly known as Apo Hiking Society or, simply, Apo, was a Filipino musical group. The group had its fledgling beginnings in 1969 at the Ateneo de Manila high school, with thirteen members. After graduation, the majority of its members left to pursue individual careers, with only three members remaining, made up of Jim Paredes, Boboy Garovillo and Danny Javier.

FAVE LINES: Kwento ng ating buhay | Ay parang isang nobela | Kwento ng kasayahan | Kung minsan ay kalungkutan

FILIPINO FACT: We love loving. Do I have to explain why? Check out the stats on population. LOL

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 3 SANA by FLORANTE

An OPM tribute is not a tribute without any of Florante's songs.

I really thought his birth certificate was incomplete. His last name is actually de Leon. He was a pioneer and leading exponent of Pinoy folk rock. Even though a folk singer, Florante also became a part of the 1970s Manila sound. Manila sound also gave birth to songs which give pride to Filipinos.

FAVE LINES: Sana ang tao'y hindi nagugutom o nauuhaw | Sana'y hindi na gumagabi o umaaraw | Sana ay walang tag-init, sana ay walang taglamig

FILIPINO FACT: We dream big. We make sure that we set a goal and continue the hard work even if it seemed farfetched. We persevere. We conquer. We fly.

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 2 KANLUNGAN by NOEL CABANGON

He makes a great contribution to the Manila Sound. He describes himself as a simpleng musikero even if he has already toured the world.

He was actually a member of Buklod, a group formed in 1988 with Rom Dongeto and Rene Boncocan. An offshoot of the progressive activist musicians' organization Bukluran ng Musikero Para sa Bayan, Buklod was a favorite performer at rallies and picket lines.

Their relationship was harmonious, but the group eventually disbanded following the split in the leftist movement between the reaffirmists (RA) (those who continued to believe in protracted armed struggle) and the rejectionists (RJ) (or those who rejected the protracted armed struggle).

Noel is a rejectionist.

FAVE LINES: Lumilipas ang panahon | Kabiyak ng ating gunita | Ang mga puno’t halaman | Bakit kailangang lumisan?

FILIPINO FACT: We never forget great memories. We cherish them as if they just happened recently. I also hope we all learn from past mistakes, too. No to trash! :)

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 1 TAYO'Y MGA PINOY by HEBER BARTOLOME (EDRU & FRANCIS M M LIVE - MGA AWIT NI HEBER 1992)

For me, Heber Bartolome is one of the greatest musicians the Philippines has ever produced. I specifically chose the tribute version because this video boasts Filipino music and culture. Other than the master composer, this also showcased the late Master Rapper's love of the country.

He is a folk and folk rock singer, songwriter, composer, poet, guitarist, bandurria player, bluesman, and painter. His music was influenced by the “stylistic tradition” of Philippine folk and religious melodies. He was the founder of Banyuhay, a "protest band" that carried the trademark sound of the kubing, a native musical instrument in the Philippines. His compositions were described as a “unique synthesis of rock and blues, and Philippine ethnic rhythms”.

FAVE LINES: Tayo'y mga Pinoy | Tayo'y hindi Kano | 'Wag kang mahihiya | Kung ang ilong mo ay pango

FILIPINO FACT: We are very proud to be PINOY! (Well, some are not but we don't really care about them)

Mumomoment Hits: Gaget's Happy 10

2012-08-05T19:56:00.001+08:00

Happy 1st Sunday of August, World! Let's start the month with happy songs from my dear friend, Gaget Calderon, who changed her profile picture because I said I'm going to link her Facebook account on this blog. Nice one! She celebrated her 18th birthday on July 31st. The birth date is real. The age? Well, "...is just a number," one girl (who looks like her dad VERY MUCH) on a certain TVC said. Let's leave the age that way.

Before I digress more, let me present to you, dear Mumomentors, Gaget's Happy 10! We have 10 because she said parang kulang ang lima. It's her birthday, anyway. I also call this list The Running 10. Try to play the list while you jog. I tried to listen to the songs sans the jogging, of course. :P

^_^ Snoop Lion Roar! LOL! ^_^

MUMOMOMENT HIT #10 NEVER GONNA CARE by THE LOW SUNS

Is it for running because the singer is fit? :)

FAVE LINES: Your pale skin in this light only makes it right | For just a while | The moon whispers the lies that you told me | Through your tulip smile | And I know I’ll never see it again

TUMBLR: http://thelowsuns.tumblr.com/
BLOGSPOT: http://thelowsuns.blogspot.com/

Neither is updated but you can check out past gigs and vids. :)

MUMOMOMENT HIT #9 DOG DAYS ARE OVER by FLORENCE + THE MACHINE

Sadly, they cancelled two European tours in July because of Florence Welch's vocal issues. For some reasons, she reminds me of Enya.

FAVE LINES: Happiness hit her like a bullet in the back | Struck from a great height | By someone who should know better than that

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 4 LIVING ON A PRAYER by JON BON JOVI

I chose the live version so that we could all feel the rockin' and the rollin'. Yeah! I rock because I remember that Zesto TVC. ♥

FAVE LINE: We've got to hold on to what we've got | It doesn't make a difference if we make it or not | We've got each other and that's a lot for love | We'll give it a shot

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 3 MORE TODAY THAN YESTERDAY by SPIRAL STARECASE

Oldies but goodies, Spiral Starecase is actually a one-hit wonder.

FAVE LINES: I thank the Lord for love like ours that grows ever stronger | And I always will be true | I'll be spending time with you

I don't think they'd be interested on having a Twitter account. See, they didn't even choose to make another wonder!

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 2 CLOSER TO THE EDGE by 30 SECONDS TO MARS

Gaget is a die-hard fan. Obviously.

FAVE LINES: Can you imagine a time when the truth ran free | A birth of a song, a death of a dream | Closer to the edge

MUMOMOMENT HIT # 1 DANCING IN THE MOONLIGHT by TOPLOADER

Upbeat and sexy. Yes, it should really be number 1.

Mumomoment: Chenille's Surprising LSS Hits

2012-07-29T22:14:00.000+08:00

While we wait on Trueasiatic's Mumomoment Hiphop Songs, let's have my sister Chenille's surprising LSS list.

The list is a shock to me because I never expected that this girl who grew up listening to post-grunge rock would appreciate mellow songs. At talagang nakakanta pa niya hanggang makatulog.

LSS does not have a registered diagnosis code but it's considered a syndrome because we tend to repeat the last song we hear. I usually remember jologs songs because of the maka-masa radio stations that play beautiful songs like that Pusong Bato. Bisit.

Going back, enjoy the ride from our first teenage contributor! ♥

MUMOMOMENT HIT #5: LOVE SONG by SARA BAREILLES

The first time I heard this song was when I was on my way to work. On the jeepney. On the bus. Everywhere. Well, ain't this better than that Bieber song?

FAVE LINE: You are not what I thought you were | Hello to high and dry

SARA FACT: Sara peed her pants when she got the chance to share the stage with Stevie Wonder. She has terrible grammar.

SARA QUOTE: "Bob Marley created music that makes me want to be a better human being."

MUMOMOMENT HIT #4: THAT GIRL by ALL TIME LOW

Not really familiar with the band nor the song, but I think this is going to give me LSS for the entire week. LOL

FAVE LINE: Sit around waiting for the spark to fade | You can add another face to your pity parade

ALL TIME LOW FACT: The band's name is taken from lyrics in the song "Head on Collision" by New Found Glory.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #3: LEGO HOUSE by ED SHEERAN

I am very proud to say that I am one of Chenille's musical influences. See, she teaches me new songs! Super like!

FAVE LINE: And it's dark in a cold December | but I've got ya to keep me warm | and if you're broken I will mend ya | and keep you sheltered from the storm that's raging on now

ED FACT: Elton John is a big fan of Sheeran's music. In October 2011, Elton even convinced Sheeran to pose naked for a charity catalogue.

ED QUOTE: "I had a little bit of a chat and kind of had an epiphany, like 'Wow, this is exactly what I want to do!' I got home that night and wrote a whole bunch of songs. I remember one was called 'Typical Average Teen.' Yeah, I was one of those."

MUMOMOMENT HIT #2: 2 BECOME 1 by SPICE GIRLS

I've never seen it coming! This became popular when I was in high school (I guess) and after a few years, it's still popular with teenagers! Get it on, get it on!

FAVE LINE: Are you as good as I remember baby, get it on, get it on | 'Cause tonight is the night when two become one

SPICY FACT: Emma Bunton replaced Michelle Stephenson, who left the group, citing that she didn't fit in with the other girls. Sorry, Michelle. :P

MUMOMOMENT HIT #1: CLOSE TO YOU by THE CARPENTERS

I really never expected a girl, who grew up with gazillions of music genres around her, would trace her roots and love a song from the 70s! Mega Like!

FAVE LINE: Why do stars fall down from the sky | Every time you walk by? | Just like me, they long to be | Close to you

KAREN CARPENTER FACT: After the Carpenters became successful during the early 1970s, she and her brother bought two apartment buildings in Downey, California and called them "Close To You" and "Only Just Begun". Today, the Close To You Apartments can still be located at 8365 East 5th Downey California.

Maan Armada's Top 5 Mumomoment Hits

2012-07-23T13:38:00.000+08:00

It is still raining all over the metro but nothing, AND I MEAN NOTHING, can stop us from MUMOMOMENTing.

This chillaxing Sunday we are featuring Maryanne Armada's Top 5 Mumomoment Hits.

Maan's got a CHICK list -- a cool list of songs for all 'em ladies. Thank you for contributing, Maan!

MUMOMOMENT # 5 - SWAY by BIC RUNGA

Girl's ultimate favorite videoke song. Easy tempo, nice lyrics, cool tune. If forced to sing, girls will definitely choose this...

FAVE LINE: I fall into an ocean of you | Pull me out in time | Don't let me drown

WIKI TRIVIA: 'You say it Bec, rather than Bic,' explains New Zealand singer-songwriter Bic Runga. 'It's Chinese, it's a strange vowel sound which doesn't seem to translate in Australia. It means the colour of jade, which might mean green.'"The "strange vowel" is a checked tone. For the meaning of "colour of jade", Bic is "碧" in Chinese characters.

MUMOMOMENT # 4 - WISH YOU WERE HERE by AVRIL LAVIGNE

What I love about her is that she sticks to her genre. Even if she's too old for baby pop rock. Even if she's already divorced. And I still love the fact that she still doesn't care about smeared make up.

FAVE LINE: All those crazy things you said | You left them running through my head | You're always there, you're everywhere | But right now I wish you were here

WIKI TRIVIA: Lavigne made a conscious effort to keep her music, and not her image, at the forefront of her career. "I'm just saying, I don't want to sell sex. I feel that's sort of lame and low. I've got so much more to say."

MUMOMOMENT # 3 - SAVE ROOM by JOHN LEGEND

The very sexy John Legend at number 3. Can't blame Maan. Anything John Legend IS hot. Really hot. Did I say John IS HOT? :)

FAVE LINE: This just might hurt a little | Love hurts sometimes when you do it right | Don't be afraid of a little bit of pain | Pleasure is on the other side

JOHN TRIVIA: "I always loved the feeling when people responded to my singing and playing," John admitted. "I was ambitious and just loved being onstage."

MUMOMOMENT # 2 - SHIMMER by FUEL

This song is a wonderful surprise. I didn't know that Maan actually listens to Fuel. Maan, you so sexy! You already! ♥

FAVE LINE: She says that love is for fools that fall behind | And I'm somewhere in between | I never really know | A killer from a savior | 'Til I break at the bend

FUEL TRIVIA: Fuel is a post grunge band which became popular for their single Hemorrhage released in 2000. The band was formed in 1989. Thanks to the elite TN for nourishing these kids.

MUMOMOMENT # 1 - BUILT TO LAST by MELEE

This sounds so '90s, thanks to the lyrics. I love the way the band arranged it. I ice them. Already! ♥ Youtube's RedRockerFan1982 says: "This is gonna be my wedding song in October For Sure!!!!" Well, let's quote Facebook: LIKE!

FAVE LINE: 'Cause this is real, and this is good | It warms the inside just like it should | But most of all most of all, it's built to last

MELEE TRIVIA: Mêlée is an indie/pop punk band from Orange County in CA. Contradicting to the band's feel-good sound, melee means a noisy riotous fight or brawl in French. Like them literally on Facebook: Click me to Melee-fy.

Thanks to: Wiki and Youtube for being willing to be abused; MetroLyrics, Lyrics007 and AZLyrics for, obviously, the lyrics; AceShowbiz for the other trivia; and again, to MaryAnne Grace Armada for sharing her list (and full name) to all of us.

Do you have your own Top 5 List? Share share share! You can send a message via my accounts on Facebook or Twitter. Let's make the world a better place! Ciao!

Top 13 Feel-Good Songs While You're Damp

2012-07-15T14:47:00.003+08:00

Welcome to Mumomoment Hits Official Home Page. Yay! ♥

This time around, we are very much open to suggestions, comments and rantings. You can send me a message through Facebook and no, I don't give out money.

This is a very special day for Mumomoment Hits because this is my first blog since I had this account in 2007. Secondly, the list is from the people that I work with, my 2nd family in APAC, Wave 41. It's a very momentous event so let's have the... (insert drum roll)

TOP 13 SONGS THAT WE LOVE TO HEAR WHILE IT'S RAINING!

TOP 13 RAINY DAY SONGS!

TOP 13 FEEL-GOOD SONGS WHILE YOU'RE DAMP

Whatever...

MUMOMOMENT HIT #13: RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS by THE CARPENTERS

From Mommy Lhen. We know Mondays always get us down; I don't agree with the rainy days, though. This is a feel-good song while you're drinking coffee and procrastinating in going to work while everyone's diving on pools of mud along the sidewalks.

MUMOMOMENT HIT #12: THE LOOK OF LOVE by DUSTY SPRINGFIELD

My request. Though Diana Krall is an amazing singer, no doubt about that. But, as a Youtube subscriber described it, "Smoldering . . many girls try but there's no equal".

FAVE LINE: Be mine tonight | Let this be just the start | Of so many nights like this | Let's take a lover's vow | And then seal it with a kiss

MUMOMOMENT HIT #11: PUMAPATAK NA NAMAN ANG ULAN by APO HIKING SOCIETY

From Martin, ang hari ng pusong bato. Literally damp. But yeah, it is a feel-good song. Sheesh! Why is it getting hotter?

FAVE LINE: Laklak ng laklak ng beer magdamagan | May kahirapan at di maiwasan | Mabuti pa kaya, matulog ka na lang | At baka sumakit ang tiyan

MUMOMOMENT HIT #10: WATERFALLS by TLC

From Kuya Nil. And I very much agree. This is also great for city driving. Oh yeah. Whatever the song means. LOL

FAVE LINE: I seen rainbow yesterday | But too many storms have come and gone | Leavin' a trace of not on God-given ray | Is it because my life is ten shades of gray

MUMOMOMENT HIT #9: BREAKDOWN by MARIAH CAREY featuring KRAYZIE BONE & WISH BONE

From Maan. Other than sexy time, Mariah Carey songs are also relaxing. Who disagrees? She's THE Mariah! Oh dear, the lyrics slapped me. Hard.

FAVE LINE: But in reality I'm slowly losing my mind | Underneath a disguise of a smile | Gradually I'm dying inside

MUMOMOMENT HIT #8: SOMETHING ABOUT US by BALANCE AND THE TRAVELING SOUNDS

From Valeria. A few covers that I liked. And still like. And will like. :) Jazz is feel-good, yes? But I still ♥ Daft Punk.

FAVE LINE (Man, it only got a few!): It might not be the right time | I might not be the right one | But there's something about us | I want to say | 'Cause there's something between us anyway

MUMOMOMENT HIT #7: PYRAMID by CHARICE featuring IYAZ

From Macee, the Jenga Queen. To each her own. Not a fan of Charice nor Iyaz. Well, her voice is kinda cute in this song, in fairness to her.

FAVE LINE: And even when the wind is blowing | We'll never fall, just keep on going | Forever we will stay | Like a pyramid

MUMOMOMENT HIT #6: MANHATTAN by KINGS OF LEON

From Mikey Bikey, the ultimate guitar hero. Not a huge fan of Kings of Leon, well, not this song. But the voice is a surprise. For a young man. Yes. It's like he doesn't sound how he looks like. I don't know what I'm saying.

FAVE LINE: We're gonna hunt to kill gonna skin the hide | A yelp and scream and away I ride | And every drop that spills on every plot of ground | It's all for you for what you found

MUMOMOMENT HIT #5: WISH YOU WERE HERE by INCUBUS

From Martin again. I don't need to explain. Boyd in the house. ♥♥♥!!!

FAVE LINE: The world's a roller coaster | And I am not strapped in | Maybe I should hold with care | But my hands are busy in the air saying | I wish you were here

MUMOMOMENT HIT #4: SMILE by AVRIL LAVIGNE

From Ate Eds. I'm not sure if this is the Smile she's looking for but this is the other Smile I know. Anyway, I like Avril's hair on the vid. ♥

FAVE LINE: And that's why I smile, it's been a while | Since every day and every thing has felt this right | And now you turned it all around | And suddenly you're all I need, the reason why I smile

MUMOMOMENT HIT #3: A DROP IN THE OCEAN by RON POPE

From Ate Churva. My new favorite song. I want this song to be sung on my wedding. That's how beautiful it is.

FAVE LINE: It's like wishing for rain as I stand in the desert | But I'm holding you closer than most | 'Cause you are my heaven | You are my heaven

MUMOMOMENT HIT #2 HEARTBEAT by CHRIS BROWN

From Maan again. I am not an RnB fan but I like this song. So rainy day. Sigh. This song is controversial because allegedly, Chris Brown is not the original singer but Basim from Denmark. Well, whoever it is, I hope you get the credit.

FAVE LINE: I never meant to throw your love away | Took it for granted there's nothing else to say | I got it bad, so bad | Tell me what to do, girl, to get you back

NOTE: I am not a tomboy. :P

MUMOMOMENT HIT #1: OFFICIALLY MISSING YOU by TAMIA

FTW, from Ate Cel. Don't deny it, you sing this song when it's raining. I do, too!

FAVE LINE: Well I wish that you would call me right now | So that I could get through to you somehow | But I guess it's safe to say, baby | Safe to say | That I'm officially missing you

Whew! That's a wrap!
