We were moving gently into winter after a not too brilliant summer, as far as weather went. Suddenly some cold nights appeared out of nowhere, but fortunately we were well prepared. A large supply of logs are sitting in the shed ready for those cooler winter evenings and the cellar is full of wine and beer.

It might not be good weather for sitting by the pool, but it is perfect to lounge by the fire and enjoy a couple of aperitifs in preparation for one of Chris’s delightful Mediterranean dinners, washed down with local wines and finished off with digestifs from the region.

How about a taste of Spain with Bunyols de Bacallá, Cordonices en Hojas de Parra followed by Crema Catalana?

Or maybe a bouquet of France with Gratin de Crabe au Pamplemousse Rose, Gigot d’Agneau Rôti aux Parfumes d’Herbes and Tarte Fines aux Pommes?

Not forgetting our Italian friends: Orecchiette con Cavalo Nero, Arosto di Vitello rounded off with Spazzacomino!

So don’t spend those dull winter week-ends at home, bring your partner out to Musavale Lodge and indulge yourselves in a little pampering.

Sunny Days: News From Musavale Lodge

The start of summer has not been kind to those of us who like outdoor living. Hopefully that is all behind us and dry, sunny days and warm evening dinners on our veranda are beckoning.

Our themed dinners have proved a great success and we are planning more week-ends right through March, maybe even further.

St Valentine’s Day on 14^th February is unfortunately on a Monday but why not spoil the little lady and take her to Musavale Lodge for a romantic Week-end, just before?

To celebrate the Romantic Festival we are preparing the menu based on food and wine from Romeo and Juliette’s home town of Verona. Dishes such as Risotto al Radicchio Rosso di Verona, Tortellini a la Sugo di Anatra, Pollo alla Verona, followed by Baci di Giulietta rounded off with Sbrisolone. All these mouthwatering culinary delights washed down with Soave and Valpolicella, Grappa or Limoncello.

Tempted? It’s worth bringing St. Valentines’s Day forward a few days!!

A Taste of the Mediterranean for Spring

Following on from our last newsletter, we are pleased to confirm our upcoming 'Mediterranean Spring' themed weekends.

Based on years of collecting a unique portfolio of provincial French, Italian and Spanish recipes, Chris will be offering tastes of the Mediterranean as can only be gained from living there.

Each dinner will be created according to local customs using only the finest of organic produce available in Australia. Joe, who has a good working knowledge of the wines of each region, has carefully selected aperitifs, wines and digestifs to compliment each meal.

The dates for these upcoming themed weekends are:

Saturday 11th September Italy
Saturday 25th September France
Saturday 30th October Spain

A two-day stay, afternoon teas, full à la carte breakfast and dinner on the Saturday night - which includes aperitifs, wines and digestifs from the country of origin - from $650 per couple. A two day minimum stay is required for these weekends.

Spring At Musavale Lodge & Themed Dinners

Spring is just around the corner and the sun is starting to grow warmer

Chris and I have been in Europe sampling some great weather and Mediterranean cuisine.

We are now gearing up for another busy season in the Sunshine Coast Hinterland, bookings are already coming in for as far ahead as December and a few enquiries for Christmas and the New Year. Come and join us for relaxing days around the pool, visits to local attractions or whatever takes your interest, followed by cool sundowners and mouth watering dinners.

Themed Dinners at Musavale Lodge

Having lived in France and Italy for over thirty years Chris has amassed a veritable library of exciting recipes from which to draw to create memorable meals. With this in mind we are planning a few 'themed' dining experiences during spring and summer. Although we have not yet fixed dates, we will be offering week-ends based on Provincial French, Italian and Spanish traditional dishes. Dinners will be prepared using only genuine local recipes and with the best available organic Australian produce, served with wines from the regions.

Details will be announced in a couple of weeks. In the meantime, why not tell your friends and consider making up a party for a gastronomic treat? We will be offering discounts for group bookings. If you are local to Musavale Lodge, why not just book in for a sun downer and dinner?

Autumn News From Musavale Lodge

We had a long, hot dry spell for several months prior to Christmas and several of our guests who are newsletter subscribers benefited from some leisure time with us.

Balmy evenings were spent dining on the veranda following sunny days around the pool. Rain came at last, the grass is green and fresh and the tanks filled, but it managed to fall at times so as not to spoil lazy, sunny relaxing days or enjoyment of Chris’s gastronomic delights at dinner.

Our mangoes, bananas and pawpaw are in full fruit and the kitchen is in overtime making jams, ice creams, sorbets and chutneys ready to tempt your palate during your next visit.

Summer Is Here

A warm spring is promising to turn into a glorious summer here in the beautiful Noosa Hinterland. The days are getting longer and inviting to spend quality time around our pool and romantic dinners on the veranda overlooking the countryside.

Fine Dining

Chris has been busy designing some tasty summer recipes to thrill your palate. Joe’s waistline is suffering from the duties (?) of chief guinea-pig. All dinners are tailored to your particular taste and dietary requirements. Call Chris to discuss menus.

Joe’s Home Brew has been awarded “Champion Beer of Show” at the recent Noosa County Show for the second year running. Enjoy a glass or two with us, or another tipple of your choice as an aperitif before one of Chris’s delightful 3-course dinners. All meals include wines from some of Australia’s best vineyards from our carefully stocked cellar. A perfect way to round off a relaxing day.

Spring is here at last!

Spring is well established. We have had some lovely warm days here in the Noosa Hinterland with temperatures in the high 20s and even a couple of days in low 30s. Now it is settled back to a steady mid 20s for some days to come.

Events: Jazz in Noosa Hinterland

A grand evening of Jazz is being organised by our group, Noosa Hinterland Escapes. This will take place in the historic Majestic Theatre in Pomona on Saturday 14th November. (See

We are offering an inclusive week-end package for this event: 2 nights B&B, Jazz tickets, food & drink at the theatre, transport to and from the event and dinner for two , including aperitif, wine & coffee, on Friday night. Price just $750 for 2 people.

Spring Is Just Around the Corner

Breakfast on the terrace is a great way to start the day, watching the birds and wildlife in the garden and the ducks on the dam. The evenings are getting longer and milder, and we are now serving dinners on the Veranda. As always, Eumundi Markets are in full swing every Wednesday and Saturday, the beaches are offering a chance to dip your foot in the Pacific, or watch the whales from the headlands.

Noosa Jazz Festival

The first week-end in September (3rd – 6th) is Noosa Jazz Festival. This is bound to be another great success. Why not come to stay at Musavale Lodge and either have an early dinner here and catch a late show or enjoy an afternoon concert followed by a relaxing dinner on the veranda a glass or two of good Australian Wine without the fear of having to drive home after. (Or a schooner of Joe’s award winning Home Brew!)

We are lucky here in our corner of Queensland to avoid extremes of weather, warm summers and cool winters being the standard which brings visitors to Noosa Hinterland. Some wonderful summer days and evenings have been enjoyed by our guests and outside dining on the veranda has been the norm since September last.

Winter Activity Inspirations

Winter is also a time for adventure or rest and relaxation at Musavale Lodge. Visit Eumundi Markets which are operational Wednesday and Saturdays throughout the year; take a guided nature walk through the State & National Parks with naturalist Gail Hill; freshen up on your culinary skills with a cooking course with Tonya at On the Ridge Cooking School.
