According to the first Mr. Olympia, Larry Scott, there is a vast treasure of strength training secrets just waiting to be discovered that go beyond current bodybuilding routines.
When bodybuilding and strength training are properly applied, possibilities open up to breaking through training plateaus. It also helps prevent injuries while the same time increasing strength resulting in a muscular physique that is better defined. The combination of modern scientific breakthroughs and the wisdom of past experience will further enhance bodybuilder and strength training than either of the two separately.
The Never Ending Struggle to Overcome Conflicting Forces
The essence of bodybuilding and strength training is the story of the perpetual fight to master conflicting forces, which are reflected in ancient times when strength was equaled to survival. These circumstances carry on into modern goals of excellence in terms of competition as well as how our culture treats the physical form of humans.
This ongoing battle to master our bodies from limitations while achieving maximum performance has spurred mankind on to attain greater results. The human body in general does not easily welcome change in its many forms and it does its best to resist as well as sabotage this change.
Bodybuilding and strength training means continual adaptation and engagement in a guerrilla type campaign formulated to deceive as well as utilize creative methods designed to overcome obstinate body processes that resist change. Along this road is your fair share of small victories, periodic setbacks as well as sudden breakthroughs that appear never-ending. When it looks like the glass ceiling is unbreakable the literature released by author Pavel introduces the practice of bodybuilding and strength training.
A combination of strength and power training furnishes the bodybuilder with a physique that encompasses the definition of raw power. An individual can lift like a bodybuilder and train as a power lifter. Despite the fact that bodybuilding and strength training are on divergent paths and well-known bodybuilders such as Park, Grimek and Schwarzenegger have trained heavy and lift it hard, nowadays bodybuilding is much more specific. For example, comparing competitive power lifters such as Flex Wheeler and Ronnie Coleman, to the well-trained eye Ronnie’s physique accentuates raw power.
Bodybuilding and strength training has a tendency to assist in adding size to the physique with the incorporation of strength training moves such as classic lifts such as squat, dead lifts, rows, and bench presses. In this respect, the bodybuilder should be technically proficient with these exercises and the objective should be to add weight in a progressive manner and, at the same time, not at the expense of form.
Additionally, whether completing dead lifts, bench presses, squatting or rowing they should be completed similar to how bodybuilders do it, which means sticking to lifting with a strict form and proper movement, while also adding more weight over time. It also does not make sense to over train, particularly when training to become stronger.
Enough recovery time is essential when bodybuilding and strength training, however that does not mean any lessening of the intensity of strength training. Additionally, the total number of sets done by the bodybuilder should be kept to a minimum as well as being prepared to grind out the workouts because training at high levels of strength coupled with muscle development surely requires quite a bit of hard work. Grinding out that extra single rep on the edge of exhaustion is what bodybuilding and strength training is all about.

While bodybuilding has traditionally been seen as a man’s sport, the popularity of female bodybuilding is becoming greater throughout the world. But bodybuilding is not an easy task for women. There are both cultural and physiological reasons for the difficulty.
Some people and whole cultures view weight lifting as taboo for women. So they have a strike against them to begin with. Women must be extra dedicated to battle cultural expectations.
Female bodybuilding is not the same as bodybuilding for men and the differences are many. Some of this is due to the fact that women gain and burn both fat and muscle differently than men. Women simply don’t produce as much testosterone as men do and do not have the inherent capacity to build muscle as easily. Women must go all out for intense work outs in order to build muscle.
Women do have slightly different nutritional needs than men such as needing more iron in the diet, so a good multi-vitamin can help any female in her body building program.
Professional female bodybuilders have also encountered difficulties such as hair loss, missing the monthly cycle, and stretch marks of the skin. However, all these side effects can be treated and do not have any fatal consequences.
Female bodybuilding has many benefits. It is not all negative.
Bodybuilding can help women to feel more comfortable in their body. It can bring about a greater ease of movement and more energy. Women store fat more quickly than men. Bodybuilding for fitness helps women become more aware of this and of the need to follow a healthy, nutritious to lessen the quantity of cholesterol and fat in their bodies. By starting with weight training for beginners and taking it easy, a woman can boost her metabolism and start to see a better body in a matter of a few short weeks.
Female bodybuilders discover that strength training increases their self-awareness and self-confidence, helping them to break through many barriers of the past. Women are gaining the majority of the jobs in vocations that are growing: residential care, computer and data processing, health services, business services, and child care.
Men account for two thirds or more in the five sectors declining fastest: footwear, ammunition, shipbuilding, leatherwork and photographic supplies, according to the US Bureau of Labor.
Women are also becoming more aware of, and taking advantage of, many of the useful body building supplements available. Supplements that have proven beneficial to weight trainers and other sport athletes to help build their muscles and reduce excessive fats. Some of these bodybuilding supplements can also improve the performance of female bodybuilders and provide fast recovery of strength from training and other related events.
Female body building is getting much more popular as women strive to be more beautiful as well as healthier. You will look better, feel better, and be better when you undertake a body building program.
Female bodybuilders can use many of the same exercises as men, such as squats, dead lifts, and bench presses together with a good cardio workout.
It should be kept in mind, though, that female bodybuilding is not about bulking up with massive muscles. Most women start bodybuilding to get healthier, gain muscle definition and to feel and look great. And it works to sculpt a beautiful body when it is done naturally – without the magic pills.

You can’t workout while you’re watching it!” She has a point and misses the point all at the same time.

To her, fitness DVDs are something you watch while working out. She has the Jillian Michaels DVD (her favorite this month), as well as countless other workout videos from celebrities and celebrity trainers like Valerie Bertinelli, Bob Greene and Trudie Styler. She clears out a big area in the living room by pushing the coffee table out of the way and spends an hour taking orders from someone on the television.

OK fine. But that’s not why I like to watch bodybuilding videos. I don’t do a rep every time Ronnie Coleman says “YEA BUDDY!” while bench pressing. The point of bodybuilding videos is to provide motivation and to show us what is possible with hard work, dedication, nutrition and supplementation.

With that said, I like to share with you some of my favorite bodybuilding DVDs:

Pumping Iron – Without a doubt, this is the best bodybuilding documentary of all time. Starring Arnold “The Oak” Schwarzenegger and Lou “The Hulk” Ferrigno, it features many of the world’s most well-known bodybuilders during the golden days of the sport.

Ronnie Coleman: Invincible – Ronnie puts out the best DVDs, but this one is the best of the best.

Branch Warren: Unchained – I’ve never been a big fan of Branch Warren, but this DVD inspired me to bring more intensity to my workouts for several months after watching it.

Mark Dugdale: Driven – I like the documentary style of this one, as opposed to the usual training scenes shown in most DVDs by world-class bodybuilders.

Dexter Jackson: The Blade 2k7/2k – This is an interesting look into what goes on behind the scenes of an international bodybuilding competition, with just enough of Dexter’s training regime thrown in to inspire you to try and look more like “The Blade” himself.

Don’t get me wrong; it’s never a good idea to sit around watching bodybuilding DVDs all day. Hit the gym and workout because that’s where you’ll gain your strength. But we can’t be in the gym all day every day without getting burnt out, and I’d much rather watch someone crank out reps with 300+lbs on the bench-press than whatever it is they do on reality television these days.

Mr. E blogs about his favorite bodybuilding videos on his website Pumped Video in his spare time. When he’s not writing, eating, sleeping or watching videos he’s in the gym.

Developing the proper habits is a vital aspect of any fitness program, and following a solid bodybuilding eating plan is no different. Get the answers to the top 10 questions now!
Q: How many calories should I be eating daily if I plan on bodybuilding?
A: The number of calories you should be eating varies by body size. As a general rule of thumb, when you’re just starting out, you should eat somewhere between 2,500 to 3,000 calories daily. Make sure that your eating plan includes protein, fat, carbohydrates and plenty of water.
Q: How much protein should be included in a bodybuilding eating plan?
A: Multiply your total body weight by 1.2 to get the total grams of protein you need to eat in a day. You should divide this amount equally between your meals and snacks throughout the day. Protein sources should include lean meats (such as chicken and turkey) and white fish. Post protein workout shakes should be the only liquid sources of protein throughout the day. If you do choose to include protein supplements no more than half of your daily protein should come from supplemental sources.
Q: When I am bodybuilding how much carbohydrate do I need to include in my eating plan?
A: Multiply your lean body mass (your fat free body weight, not your total body weight) by 0.8 to get the amount of carbohydrates you should be eating in a day. These should be divided between your major meals. Carbohydrates should also be included post workout.
Q: How much fat (and what types of fats) should I plan on eating when I am bodybuilding?
A: About 25% of your calories should come from fat. This isn’t to say you should increase the amounts of harmful fats in your diet. Essential fatty acids (EFAs) are needed when your bodybuilding. These include omega three and omega six. A good way to make sure you get your EFAs is to include flax seeds, flax oil, are flax meal in your diet. Another good source of EFAs is fish. Fish oil supplements can be taken to increase your EFAs.
Q: Should soy be a part of my bodybuilding eating plan?
A: No. Women often include soy in their diet to raise their body’s estrogen levels naturally. When estrogen levels rise, testosterone levels decrease. Since testosterone is a body builders best friend, it’s in your best interest to reduce your soy intake as much as possible while you’re trying to increase your muscle mass.
Q: How large of meals and snacks should I be eating when I plan to concentrate on bodybuilding?
A: You should eat something every 2 to 3 hours while you are awake. Instead of trying to eat 3 and meals a day it’s important to bring that up to between 5 to 7 smaller daily meals. This gets your body’s metabolism up and feeds your muscles so there able to continually repair themselves.
Q: Do I have to avoid alcohol when I’m bodybuilding?
A: Yes. When you are bodybuilding it’s important to decrease the amounts of alcohol you consume, if not completely cut it out of your diet. Alcohol can negatively affect your testosterone levels.
Q: When considering my bodybuilding eating plan what types of carbohydrates should I include?
A: Nutrient dense whole grains fruits and vegetables should be a part of your healthy eating plan when you are bodybuilding. Candy bars, soda pop, and other empty calories should not be a part of your eating plan.
Q: Why should I eat cruciferous vegetables when I’m bodybuilding?
A: Cruciferous vegetables have many important health benefits. One of the benefits of cruciferous vegetables is they suppress the amounts of estrogen in your system. Suppressing the amount of the estrogen in your system increases the amount of testosterone in your system. Testosterone is a natural bodybuilding enhancer.
Q: What should my post workout snack include?
A: Post workout snacks need to include protein and a high glycemic carbohydrate. The reason you include a high glycemic carbohydrate is to get the protein into your system as quickly as possible. Do not include fats in your post workout snack. Fats will slow the absorption of protein and carbohydrates.
By following the above guidelines for your bodybuilding eating plan, you will maximize your results with minimum effort and time. Good luck!

Bodybuilding is an incredible exercise program that does more for the body than just build up muscle and physique. Bodybuilding also strengthens the ligaments and tendons, the skeletal system, and burns more calories due to the increased metabolic rate of the body. Although using weight belts for bodybuilding workouts and routines is quite common, it is also controversial.
There are two opposing schools of thought amongst weightlifters and bodybuilders. Those who advocate the use of weight belts for bodybuilding believe that a weight lifting belt will protect the lumbar portion of the spinal column. There are also many who believe categorically that there is no place for the use of weight belts in bodybuilding. They think weight belts give individuals a false sense of security, and they cannot take the place of strong, functional core and trunk muscles.
Weight Lifting Belts – What Are They?
A weight belt is rigid and generally made from leather, but also can be made out of high-strength, durable nylon. A weight lifting belt is fastened around the bodybuilder’s waist and secured in they same fashion as a normal belt. The part of the belt that crosses the small of the back is usually about six inches high.
The Pros Of Weight Belts For Bodybuilding
Bodybuilders who favor the use of a weight lifting belt during their bodybuilding workouts believe that the weight lifting belt will protect the lumbar portion of the spinal column from needless injury. They also believe that the thickness and width of the belt spanning the lower back can prevent injury to the all important back muscles.
Another benefit attributed to the weight lifting belts is that the stiffness of the belt acts as a reminder to the individual not to arch or bend their back when lifting. Bodybuilders who arch their back when lifting weights risk permanent damage to the spine.
For power lifters undertaking maneuvers such as squats and clean and jerk, the added support of a weight belt provides extra protection for the small of the back.
The Cons of Weight Belts For Bodybuilding
Bodybuilders opposed to the use of weight belts for bodybuilding believe that a weight belt cannot take the place of a strong, fully functioning core of trunk muscles. Weight belts can give the individual a false sense of security and safety, allowing poor form to creep into their workouts. They further argue that wearing of the belt causes needless pressure on the abdomen, which can increase the bodybuilder’s blood pressure.
They also believe that the use of a weight lifting belt is counterproductive in building up the muscles of the lower back. Dependence on belt can weaken the small of the back rather than allow for its strengthening, which is one of the major reasons for taking up weightlifting or bodybuilding.
In a study of 50 male weightlifters done at Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY, researchers discovered that men not using weightlifting belts had more abdominal and back strength than the men who did use weight belts.
The bottom line? Whether you believe weight belts for bodybuilding are a good thing or not, if you have medical problems, injuries, or are new to exercising, check with your physician before starting any program. Follow your doctor’s advice for your exercise and health safety and always remember, no matter how fit you are, to lift weights with caution.

If you think bodybuilding without a gym sounds far fetched, think again. Believe it or not, when it comes to bodybuilding, your own body is far superior to any gym equipment. There is no doubt that you can use your own bodyweight workout program to achieve gains that regular body building equipment cannot hope to provide.
Conventional bodybuilding gyms are typically jammed to the rafters with latest and greatest in bodybuilding and weightlifting machines. Inside those gyms attached to those machines are people sweating away, toning and sculpting their bodies in search of the perfect physique. If only they stopped to consider the benefits and simplicity of bodybuilding without a gym, those dedicated bodybuilders could better results quicker and spend less money.
The Perfect Bodybuilding Machine – Your Own Body
When you switch to bodybuilding without a gym, your muscles work naturally, using the weight of your own body to exercise the muscles. Common exercises such as chin-ups, push-ups, lunges and squats are all exercises you can use to develop a workout to any level of intensity, depending on your fitness. As bodyweight bodybuilding has no requirement for weights or specific equipment, it can be worked easily in to a busy schedule. All in all, it is a fully rounded “super” workout.
Advantages of Bodybuilding Without A Gym
1. Holding Good Form Is Easier. One real advantage of using your own body weight to workout is that good form and definition can be continually improved and perfected. This is not always possible with conventional bodybuilding equipment, where your range of motion can be limited by the constraints of the machine. In addition, crashing the equipment and hurting yourself is no longer an issue, so working out with your own body weight gets your muscles working harder.
2. Working To Exhaustion Is Faster. A good bodyweight bodybuilding program lets you work to exhaustion much faster than you can on conventional machines. For example, when exercising on many normal machines, you are simply sitting on a bench. When exercising with your own bodyweight resistance, you need to exert much more effort and balance from your core muscles. This is more beneficial for your body, and builds muscle and strength more efficiently.
3. Convenience. No more waiting in line at the gym waiting for the bodybuilding machines to be free. No more seeking out gyms when you are away – there is nothing stopping you from hitting the floor and beginning your bodyweight bodybuilding routine wherever you are.
4. Cost Savings. Bodybuilding without a gym can be done anywhere, you don’t necessarily have to be at a gym. Provided you have the discipline to workout at home, you simply need a cleared space with a mat and perhaps a balance ball for working on core strength.
The benefits of bodybuilding without a gym are clear. Bodyweight bodybuilding programs ensure you properly engage your core muscles, and this helps to build a strong, fully functioning spine. In addition, you will get better muscle gains, lose more fat, and enjoy a much-improved workout. Now what could be better than that!

A full-packed muscular body… that is the physique of most bodybuilders. Their’s is a body where “fat” is seemingly invisible. Their’s is a body where statistics is vital.

It is rather inviting to go on writing on Bodybuilding Supplements. However, as there is a limitation to the number of words to be written, we have confined ourselves to this. However, do enjoy yourself reading it.

A bodybuilder undergoes a process wherein he develops muscle fibers with weight training, increase in calorie intake and rest. Weight training is not solely a result of hours of sweating in the gym. There are substances which can be taken to intensify muscle build-up as well as to help in the elimination of fats. This is in the form of a bodybuilding supplements.

There are different types of bodybuilding supplements. One example is vitamins. Vitamins are commonly taken to boost metabolic reaction in one’s system. Research shows that about 90% of Americans are not getting the proper nutrition from the foods they consume, hence the need for vitamins.

Vitamins are also needed in bodybuilding since you need to supply the lost energy that your body has exerted during rigorous training. Some of the important vitamins a bodybuilder should take are:

To err is human, to forgive is divine. So we would indeed deem you to be divine if you forgive us for any misunderstandings that may arise in this article on Bodybuilding Supplements.

Vitamin C

Ascorbic acid is another term for Vitamin C. It is a water-soluble type of vitamin. With proper amount of Vitamin C in your body you will be able to:

Writing this composition on Bodybuilding Supplements was a significant contribution of ours in the world of literature. Make this contribution worthwhile by using it.

- It protects your muscle cell from radical injury.

- It absorbs iron to aid oxygen in the binding of hemoglobin in the blood to help you perform well.

- It aids in the steroid-hormone formation.

Vitamin C supplements come in different forms which includes tablet, capsule, drink-mix packs, and “multi-vitamin formulation”.

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B6, specifically of the “pyridoxine” form is an essential vitamin for bodybuilders to take. You will obtain different advantages upon intake of the said vitamin:

- It utilizes the proper metabolism of protein and carbohydrate.

Aside from supplements, you can get Vitamin B6 on foods such as liver, green beans, chicken, sea vegetables, nuts and bananas.

Vitamin B1

People are inclined to think that some matter found here that is pertaining to Bodybuilding Supplements is false. However, rest is assured, all that is written here is true!

Thiamine is the other term for Vitamin B1. The said vitamin is essential for bodybuilders in many ways such as:

- It fills muscle because thiamine aids in the conversion of carbohydrates and fats into energy.

- It aids in proper maintenance of the heart, digestive and nervous systems.

Vitamin B1 supplements can be found in most “B complex vitamins”.

Supplement-aside, foods that are rich in thiamine are spinach, beef, pork, soybeans, cereals and legumes.

Vitamin D

Nothing abusive about Bodybuilding Supplements have been intentionally added here. Whatever it is that we have added, is all informative and productive to you.

Any bodybuilder can obtain a lot of benefits from getting proper dose of Vitamin D since:

- It helps in the regulation of calcium and phosphorus which aids in proper food absorption. Additionally, phosphorus is believed to increase robust contractions in the muscle.

- It aids in the development of a “strong skeleton” as well as proper formation and mineralization of the bone.

Milk and other dairy products is the major source of Vitamin D. Additionally, you may want to add oils from fish liver, fatty fish, and egg in your diet as other natural Vitamin D sources.

Perhaps you may not have been interested in this passage on Bodybuilding Supplements. In that case, please don’t spread this feedback around!

Vitamin E

In medical terms Vitamin E is referred to as “tocopherol”. Through the following ways it may help any bodybuilder achieve their bodybuilding goal since:

- It serves a vital anti-oxidant factor wherein it shields the cell membranes from potential damage.

Vegetable oils are the common primary ingredient in the manufacturing of Vitamin E supplements. Alternatively, you can consume foods such as soybeans, nuts, wheat and peanut butter as other sources of Vitamin E.

We have avoided repetitions of any sort in the matter on Bodybuilding Supplements. However, if you do come across any repetitions, do bear with us.

When you focus on posture and balance, you help align both your posture and your body in general. Before you begin your bodybuilding exercise program, you’ll need to have proper posture. Because most professional bodybuilders have good posture, their programs may not concentrate on this particular feature. However, if your posture is good, you can look more fit simply because of the way you hold yourself.

When you’re doing bodybuilding exercise, you’ll also need to learn how to stabilize your shoulders so as to avoid injury. If you don’t stabilize your shoulders and hold them properly, you could injure yourself, thus thwarting your bodybuilding exercise program. You’ll need shoulders that are not injured so that you don’t live your life in pain because you used the wrong techniques for bodybuilding.

Another thing you’ll need for proper bodybuilding exercise is core stability. Core stability helps protect your lower back by strengthening your core muscles. Doing things wrong could cause you a lifetime of lower back pain. Therefore, if you’ve been engaging in bodybuilding workouts and you find you have lower back pain, stop. Those workouts are designed for people who already have core stability. Stabilize your core before you begin a weight-training program to help you gain weight. If you don’t, you’ll only risk injuring yourself.

In addition, your bodybuilding exercise program should focus on flexibility. You need flexibility throughout your body, including your lower body and your upper body. If you’re stiff before you begin to work out, engage in some flexibility exercises before you begin bodybuilding in earnest by using stretches and exercises designed for your body type that will give you maximum flexibility. If you don’t stretch properly and make sure you’re flexible before you begin bodybuilding, you could injure yourself.

In addition, you might have certain parts of your body that are stronger than others. Therefore, you’ll need to focus on building up those parts of your body that are “lagging behind” other, stronger parts of your body. The proper bodybuilding exercise program can help you do this, so that you’re focusing on every part of your body in equal measure and not unduly strengthening one part of your body while ignoring another.

In addition to your bodybuilding exercise program, you’ll also need to do overall conditioning. Overall conditioning requires that you add cardiovascular exercise, too. Even though cardiovascular exercise may not help you “bulk up,” it still exercises your heart and lungs, which is necessary for proper health and maximum benefit. In addition, this type of training is also going to help keep you from getting injured while you work on gaining weight by building muscle.
