Los Amigos de Monterey History and Art Association invite you to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, a critical point in Mexico’s Struggle for Independence. A victory crucial to the Union’s defeat of the Confederacy.

Come and join us as we celebrate our Hispanic heritage and raise a toast to General Ignacio Zaragosa Seguin, who, though celebrated as a Mexican war hero, is often overlooked when Americans celebrate their Civil War heroes.

All proceeds of this benefit will be used to support Casa Serrano and other MHAA programs.

Please join us as we celebrate the opening of our new exhibit, Music, Love & Flowers: An Exploration of the Monterey International Pop Festival.

Our opening reception will include music, flower, art, food, drinks, love, peace, happiness, and more!

This lively workshop for children ages 7-12 encourages learning about the visual arts as well as historical traditions. It will include a thoughtful gallery discussion to accompany a hands-on art project inspired by the Out of the Vault exhibition, showcasing art and artifacts from the Museum’s permanent collection. Kids will use what they have learned through visual observation and a history discussion to cut, paste, and paint their way to creating colorful mixed media works. Kids Create workshops encourage kids to explore a variety of mediums, from paint to charcoal, pencil, pastel, ink, clay, and more. All materials provided!

Space is limited. Reserve your spot now by submitting the form below. Participation is on a first-come, first-served basis and requires a $10 fee per child (non-members). We also ask that a registration form is completed for each child. You can submit this form ahead of time to stephanie@montereyhistory.org, or bring it with you to the class/workshop.

To coincide with Dixieland Monterey, the Museum of Monterey presents Gaucho Gypsy Jazz Band live in our theater! Gaucho began as a gypsy jazz trio in 2002 and has now happily grown to a sextet. Bringing together the styles of Klezmer, Brazialian Choros, Swing, New Orleans, and Roots styles, as well as modern day melodies of relevance, the band performs at least 3 times per week in their beloved hometown of San Francisco.

Tickets are extremely limited.
