Creamy Tuna Casserole

This recipe is a family favorite!

It is so creamy, and it's one of those recipes that get better the second or third day...AND I love that it stays creamy!

" Tasty Thursday's" Recipe is.....Tuna Casserole my way...with a few twists..turns..but lots of yumminess involved! I'll make this short and sweet!

3 Cans Tuna (drain two cans)

2 10 oz, Can Cream of Mushroom Soup

1 1/2 C. Milk

1 1/2 C. Frozen Pea/Carrot Mix

1 C. Fresh Mushrooms (sliced)

1/2 C. Mayonnaise

1 tsp.Garlic Powder (to taste)

1-2 tsp.Season Salt (to taste)

1 Pkg.Egg Noodles

2 C. Shredded Cheese

2 T Butter

1 1/2 C. Bread Crumbs

In a large pot fill with water and start boiling for the pasta. In another large pot add sliced mushrooms.frozen veggies,season salt,garlic powder, tuna (one with juice also) milk,mayo and cook on medium heat until it starts to boil, then turn down to a simmer. In a bowl melt butter and add bread crumbs with a additional tsp. of garlic powder and mix. When noodles are finished, drain, and add them to the tuna mixture. Scoop into a 9 X 13 pan. Sprinkle with Cheese, then add the bread crumb mixture on top. Bake uncovered at 350 for 25 minutes. (I put it on a cookie sheet just in case it bubbles over.)

After 25 minutes....

Hot and bubbly and Ooh so yummy! See that arrow... that's where a bubble popped just as I was taking the picture. Yes, it was lovin' right from my oven!

Candy Corn Cuteness!

This is a ca-ute jar I made for my beloved candy corn last year!
I LOVE THIS!

I love candy corn.

Like really really A LOT.

Like probably will gain 10 lbs after Halloween a lot!

{Darn candy corn}

I've always liked it, but, it seems like the older I'm getting. I'm liking it even more! I've already bought 5 bags...but it's to fill my cute pedestal canisters and....OK, no excuses...I just plain love the stuff!

Although I did do something pretty darn cute with it.

Hence today's tutorial.

See! Told you, isn't it CA-UTE!

YOU NEED:

-Jar

-Ribbon

-Stickers or vinyl

I got my jar at the DI, (thrift store) for $.75

I picked up the stickers at Hobby Lobby and used a 40% off coupon they were $1.50

The ribbon I had from my potty prize jar, but I found the Halloween one at the dollar store and you can pick up the other ones at Walmart for .$47 a spool!

Fill your cute jar with candy corn ~~and then eat a couple pieces~~,

next you start tying on the ribbon around the rim of the jar~~...then eat a couple more pieces~~.

Once you are all finished, stick the stickers or vinyl on the jar- WALAH!

You are done!

Uh...Love it!

Now...this one is Decoration Only...meaning... NO EATING IT!

~~That's why I have three canisters to munch on!~~

Halloween Yummies

Wow....It has been a while.

We've moved, most of our things are in storage and we are hoping to start building our new home next month.

We are staying with my parents, which has been a HUGE blessing since I have to take it very easy, (pretty much bed rest) until our little guy is born in the middle of next month.

I tell ya, I NEVER have easy pregnancies.

I guess it just makes me appreciate this miracle a little more!

So, I haven't been crafting, or cooking.

My sweet Mom is running the show. Taking good care of all of us! I sure love her!

OK...so enough about me. I'm wanting to do some re-posting from last year.... first one up....

Who wants a MUMMY DOG? Maybe a TATER BUG?
Not real ones silly...Yummy ones!

Every year since My Pretty Princess started kindergarten it has become a tradition that we we make one Halloween inspired treat/dinner a week.

So... Yesterday we made Mummy Dogs and Tater Bugs!

Want to make your own? You do?

Well then, let me tell you how I made mine!

MUMMY DOGS:

-1 package hot dogs

-8 Pillsbury bread sticks...(or make your own)

-mustard

-2 pepper dots

Bake at 450 degrees for 10 minutes. Make eyes with dots of mustard and put the dots of pepper in the center.

TATER BUGS:

-tater tots

-uncooked spaghetti

-carrot sticks

-broccoli

-olives(optional)

-sour cream (optional)

Bake Tater tots at 450 degrees for 5 minutes. Take out then use piece of the spaghetti to connect 3 Taters together. Bake for 7 minutes more. Julianne some carrots (or you can buy the matchstick kind} Stick two on each side of the bug to make legs. Stick tiny broccoli florets in for the antennae. You can use a little dot of sour cream and cut up tiny olives for the eyes if you want.

Bake for 5 minutes

I used baby carrots and sliced them, broccoli, dried spaghetti

"Thread" three Taters onto the spaghetti

This is what they will look like when you put them in to bake for the remaining 7 minutes.

When they come out of the oven, stick the carrots (legs) into the sides. I cut two little slits into the tops for the antennae. Then stuck the broccoli in. The spaghetti cooks and helps hold it together so you get to eat the whole thing!

Cute little buggers...

Pretty Princess and her friends gobbled them up! They loved 'em! Now go make you some Halloween'y yummy fun-ness1 (Yep, I just made up my own word...I'm good at that!)

Blast from the Past...Paper Pinwheel Cuties

Hey guys... I wanted to share a "blast from the past" I made these last year, they were super easy and I loved how they turned out...

All right...I know the 4th is just a round the corner, but I got so excited when Wayward Girls Crafts did a step by step tutorial on how to make a pinwheel. I have seen these but never learned how to do it. When I saw how easy it was, I uh...just had to copy! I had some fun patriotic paper so my adventure began!

They have a GREAT Tutorial so click on their link above,and it will take you to it.

What you'll need though is:
-Scrapbook Paper or other colored paper
-Glue Gun
-Brads for the middle
-Wooden skewers
-Something to put them in!

After I made the pinwheels I cut strips of the star paper I used and just wrapped them around the skewers securing each end with a dab of hot glue.

I had washed and saved an old stew can thinking I could use it for something....yes...I hot glued the matching paper onto it, printed of the word FREEDOM and tore it out and glued it on! YAY!!!

Here they are in all their cuteness! It was a fast easy process. It took more time to arrange the pinwheels just how I wanted them then actually making them! Jeesh! I'm really liking how they turned out! So fun!

I KNOW I'll be making more of these cuties! They just have a way of bringing a smile to your face!

Where have I Been?

Hi you guys.... It's been awhile ...hasn't it!

Here's what I've been up to:

I have been become best friends with the toilet,

the garbage cans

the sinks.

Living in pj's and loving my super comfy bed.

My house isn't ever as clean as I would like.

I can't exercise because I feel like I going to throw up and any given minute,

AND

I don't cook anymore...my poor hubby and pretty princess are feeling a little deprived.

Why?

Yep, you guessed it.

I am pregnant! 15 weeks and due on the 3rd of December.

My doctor is 99% sure that this sweet little baby we are expecting is a little boy.

My pregnancies are NEVER easy.

(More on that another day)

So, I am taking it each day at a time, and we are praying for this sweet little guy!

I DID make a little something for the 4th of July, that I will be taking pics of and hopefully posting very soon!

A Rose cake

Oh, you guys.... I am A.B.S.O.L.U.T.E.L.Y awful!

Like really really really awful!

I uh.....forgot the party for Tuesday.

Yeah, the one that was supposed to be up no later than 5PM.

You know, sometimes I really think that if my head wasn't attached to my shoulders, I would lose it~

I wanted to share with you a "somethin'" that I made last week...

Thursday we had our Relief Society birthday party. After planning it, we decided to have cupcakes and two cakes. My friend Chels, and I made the cakes and then three other cute girlies made cupcakes. I wanted to do something pretty special.... so, where can I find awesome stuff?

Yep...you guessed it!

Good ole' Pinterest. Love me some Pinterest!

* Chels also happens to have a yummy food blog called Time for Supper go check out her yumminess!

When I first saw the rose cake I fell in LOVE...like love...love.

After visiting i am baker she convinced me that I could make this cake...so I gave it a try...and I think I did pretty good for my first time!

( Ooh, and can I just tell you she has the best The Perfect Crusting Buttercream!)

I used 2 - 8" round cake pans.

I always trace them onto parchment paper,cut the circles out,place them in the bottom of the pans, then spray with cooking spray AND then coat them with powdered sugar (instead of flour)

The cake was just a yellow cake mix jazzed up..

Follow directions EXCEPT:

-Instead of water use 1 C. Heavy Cream or Milk

-Add 1 C. Sour Cream also...It is super rich...but oh so yummy!

Lookie how it turned out!

The neatest thing was if the "rose" didn't turn out exactly how I wanted it to...I could just scrape it off and then start again! (yep, I did do that a few times..WINK)

I found the FREE Birthday Printables at Anna and Blue Paperie. I used a 2" scallop punch and attached them to some colored embroidery floss and then used skewers to hold up the cute banner. I wanted to do a cute little picture frame too.

I searched and found A FREE Happy Birthday card at sew.craft.create.

I LOVE how they matched so well! I took a frame that I had spray painted white, and some cute material that I had on hand, that matched...BONUS, made some rosettes and added some pearl buttons to the center of them, hot glued them to the frame and WALAH!

SOME CUTENESS...if I do say so myself!

Oriental Chicken Spinach and Bowtie Pasta

On Sunday, my Mom made this yumminess that she had me try...

My little Miss Jenika (aka Pretty Princess) was in love with it!

She didn't want to even share!

K,so there is a story behind this salad, that I HAVE to tell you all about.

My Mom and Dad went to a baby blessing a month or so ago, and there was a spinach pasta salad that my Mom fell in love with.

When she found out who made it, she asked for the recipe, she was told by the girl that it was a family recipe she couldn't share.

I understand some people don't like to share recipes

(you know someone could take it and call it their own,
put it in a recipe book that makes millions of dollars and then they're out of luck!)
..... WINK....

OKAY... in all seriousness

I personally am beyond flattered when someone wants my recipe..

My cute Mom went on a "google" hunt and found two recipes that she combined,
and this is what she came up with!

The recipe that she couldn't have from the baby blessing...HA!

Oh my yumminess! You guys...this is so GOOD!

Oriental Chicken and Spinach Bow tie Pasta

½ pkg. Pasta

¼ C. Sesame seeds

1 handful Cashews

2 T. Salted Sunflower Seeds

1 pkg. Spinach

3 Chicken Breasts

1 Bunch Green Onions

Dressing:

1/3 C. Canola Oil

1/3 C. Soy Sauce

1/3 C. Rice Vinegar

6 T. Sugar

¼ tsp. Pepper

Boil chicken breasts, cut into bite size pieces. Toast cashews, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds in a pan. Mix Dressing, Add ½ of the mixture to the cooked chicken and toasted nuts. Add the pasta, the bag of spinach and rest of the dressing. Refrigerate for 3 hours.

NOTE:

My Mom made this in two days. She cooked the entire package of pasta, and saved the rest for another dish. On the first day she cooked the chicken and toasted the nuts. Then she added ½ the dressing and let it sit overnight, then added the pasta, spinach and rest of the dressing the following day, she refrigerated it for 3 hours.

I made this for dinner tonight...we ate it while everything was still a little warm...
Oh. My. Gosh. YUM!
So, you can have it warm or cold and it's still super delish!
Oh, and I didn't have cashews on hand so I used slivered almonds instead...

Special Event Style Makeup

Do any of you have special events to attend?

What do you consider a special event?

For me a special event would be going to a baptism for a niece or nephew.

A church function or a family event, or going out for a date night with the hubby!

(I know, pretty sad, no Angelina Jolie functions going on here!)

You always want to look nice when you go out in public though don't you?

{My Mom was so big on that, and it is definitely something I have carried on... and am so thankful she instilled in us as children)

Anyway,

Whether you are going to dinner and movie with the hubby, or any other special event...

you want to look great...Right!?

So, I wanted to take a sec and give you a peek into the make up I use.

I am pretty simple.

Eyeshadow,Mascara,lip gloss (Vaseline) ,foundation and I'm set.

I use:

-Cover Girl powder foundation

-Cover Girl invisible concealer

-Loreal Voluminous Mascara (Black/Brown)

-Loreal 825 Gilded Bronze

-Loreal 830 Deep Mocha

-Vaseline lip therapy

I use the Cover Girl Invisible concealer and dot the sun spot or acne spots. Then I apply the powder foundation over my entire face. Eyes included. I use my brush and "comb" my eyebrows.
(They need to be combed too! )
I start by applying the Loreal Gilded Bronze on my entire eye lid, with a eyeshadow brush. Then I apply the Deep Mocha with the other eyeshadow brush. I start off by using the tip and apply some under my eye (like eyeliner) Then I apply it to the top of my eyelid up to the brow bone.

Next, I apply my mascara with the tip of the mascara brush and run it back and forth on my eyelashes until they are covered with it. Then I use the length of the brush and begin at the base and brush them in an upward motion.

( I don't use a eyelash curler...because I can't stand the thought of it near my eye)

I actually will hold the brush at the base,holding my eyelashes up so that they stay "up". I have long eyelashes, so it works for me! For the bottom lashes I just run the tip over them a couple times.
I make sure that I don not touch my skin. If I do...I use a Q-tip with Make-up remover on it and make sure I get it off...

After that I use my Vaseline Lip therapy ....

And I'm set!
If you want to add more color to your lips, a great trick I learned is to use some lip liner and then apply the vaseline to your lips. It works too! It will give your lips a pretty glossy look with some color!

Really simple yet...I think...still put together.
The great thing is all of these products I you can pick up inexpensively!

St. Patty Blocks

I love St. Patrick's Day!

I love the how my house gets little green specks of cuteness around it this time of year!

I have been pinning so many awesome ideas...super cute printables too!

I can't wait to use them!

Anyway,

Kierste at Brown Paper Packages made some super cute conversation blocks.

Yep, and I HAD to make my own version of them, because they are just too cute!

then I got to thinking..

"Ooh, I should do some St. Patrick blocks!

So that's what I did!

Here's what you need:

-wood cut into 3 1/2 X 3 1/2 (Square)

-white paint

-green paint

-sandpaper

-brush

-vinyl

I use the font Patrick and chose the words Irish, Kiss Me, Lucky .

I painted the blocks white, let them dry, then gave them a coat of green. I sanded them so the white would come through. Lastly, I cut the vinyl using my silhouette....and WALAH!

* If you don't have silhouette, you could use stickers

another great idea would be to print the font out on a fun St. Patrick-y Scrapbook Paper and then mod podge it to the block! Sand around the edges....

Ooh, I just might be doing some Easter ones... (wink)

St. Patrick's Day Plaque

This is how my St. Patrick's Day one turned out...

(That darn flash...I couldn't get a good picture without it though!)

You'll need:
-Plaque
-Paint
-Paint Brush
-Scrapbook Paper
-Printer
-Mod Podge
-Clear Sealer (Rustoleum)
You can get the plaque at Hobby Lobby for around $1.50
the size is 6 3/4
paint it, print the document out from Suzanne, (or make your own)
(I always take mine to my local printer and have them print it onto my scrapbook paper)
cut it to the size of your plaque
Mod podge the paper cut out scrapbook paper to the top of your plaque
wait for it to dry....then spray a light coat of clear rustoleum spray onto it...so the words won't smudge...
wait for it to dry a few minutes.
apply a thin coat of mod podge to the top of your plaque to seal it!

You just gotta go check out all of her plaques...she has so many!

St. Patty Day Accessories

Did you ever get pinched on St. Patrick's Day for not wearing green?

My Mom always made sure we had the green thing going on, and I've always made sure Pretty Princess has always had her thing going on too.

So, I had this brilliant idea that I would make some fun hair things for the both of us to wear.

{ and then I got a little carried away}

When I started getting all of my stuff out, the ideas just kept coming.

So, we ended up with a
- headband
- Rosette set of earrings
- bracelet
-Rosette hair clip
- three piece diamond feather rosette clip.

Whew..

When Pretty Princess saw them, she was ECSTATIC!

She can't wait to wear the St. Patrick's Day bling!

Ok, in all my excited-ness..I didn't take any pictures of the process.

I used:

-glue gun

-St. Patty Material

- crystal/other Embellishments

-hair clips

-feathers

-headband

-black tulle

For the headband :

I tore a piece of the material about 1-1 1/2 inch wide 24 inches long...

glue the tip (fold like a present) of the material to the bottom tip of the headband and start winding around.

When you get to the other side glue and wrap it like you did the first side.

for the rosette I braided 3 1- 1 1/2 inch wide and about 12" long pieces of material. I folded them in half so that you only could see the material color.

After it's braided wind into a circle gluing randomly and then glue it where you want it to sit on the headband. Add something to the center if you want.

For the Earrings:

Get some earring posts at your local craft store.
(I actually picked mine up at Honk's, a dollar store here in Utah.)

I cut a piece black felt the size of a quarter.

Tie one end of the material in a knot, and then glue it into the center of the felt. Begin wrapping the material around the felt and twist the material and glue every so often. Tuck the end onto the back of the felt and glue. Glue the post onto the back of the felt and then add a crystal to the center.

For the Bracelet:

Cut the material. Glue one end down. Wrap it tightly around the bracelet until it is completely covered. glue the end down. Embellish with stones.

For the three rosette feather clip:

Use three scrap pieces of material, fold in half wind in circle. Glue ends to hold into circle shape.

Glue the three circle "flowers" together. Add a green and yellow feather. Black tulle and stones to the center. Glue them all onto a piece of felt that is about a silver dollar size and glue to the hair clip.

For the rosette clip:

I used a piece of the braided material from the headband. Glue it to the top of the clip.

Cut another piece of felt and them make yourself another rosette (like the earrings) glue it to the top of the clip. I cut a piece of material the length of the clip with the rosette on it and then opened the clip and glued the piece inside upwards to hold it in place.

OK..so I really hope these instructions help....

AND.....No one will get pinched this year!

St. Paticks Day "Lucky Banner"

It's time for the St. Patrick's Day Decor..

I whipped out a cute little banner this morning,

I'm loving it!

I have seen so many banners that I love..like really love so I decided today would be the day that my house needed one!

(Why did I wait so long?!)

Here's what you need:

I made a template for the flag size I wanted to use.

(It is 6 X 6 1/2.)

-scrapbook paper

-glue

-2" circle punch

-printer/paper

-black ink pad

-paper punch

-string/green jute

This is how I made mine..There are so many amazing idea's out there...

I traced my flags onto the scrapbook paper. Then I dug through my scraps of paper and found some fun green patterns. Then I used my 2" circle punch to cut them out. I used the font Bosshole. After I printed it out, I tore around the letters.

I didn't know how I wanted to attach the banner to the jute so I looked for some idea's. I found this one and loved it. Simple and cute. It is from Artsy Fartsy Shopoholic. I really loved how hers turned out so I used her idea of putting it together.

I punched the four holes into the top of the flags FIRST, so that I would know where the jute would be before I put the letters and circles on.

I used black distress ink and did the sides of the flags, around the circles and the letters.

I arranged them on the flag how I liked them and then glued them into place.

That's it! The best part about this is I already had EVERYTHING on hand!

LOVE IT!

Can I just tell you all that I am addicted....I will definitely be making another one!

Valentine Day Part 4

On Valentine's Day I always take down the decor and make a little "Table scape" with most of it.

I just took pictures of the scape and not the whole table...I wish I'd taken pictures of all of it!

UGH!

I think these turned out super cute too..

I added some cute ribbons and tulle to the one side of the candy bar and then some crystals to the O's.

I know, lots of sweet treats

We're kinda stocked up for a while now!

The paper heart plates were on red charger plates (I picked up after Christmas for .$59) and crystal goblets were what we drank from.

We had dinner of Steak, Shrimp, Baked Potatoes and

Dun Dun Dun...

Salsa and Chips....

'Cause no dinner is complete with out them (hubby's favorite).

Valentine Day Part 3

There were so many super cute Valentine ideas on Pinterest.

I had an idea of what I wanted to do this year for Pretty Princess' class in my head for awhile and I was so excited to use the Memory Suite Scrapbooking Software and design the coolest tops for these little bags I got...but then my computer had to go and crash and take everything with it!

Including the software!

So, what do you do?

You improvise!

Maybe they aren't as cute as I envisioned, but Pretty Princess loved them and was excited to give them out.

"HOT LIPS"

Supplies:

Scrapbook Paper

Small Jewelry bags

Hot Lip candy (like cinnamon bears)

Stapler

These were really simple to make. The bags I got at Walmart in the jewelry section for $1.00.

We bought the lips in the bulk section and put 4 lips in each bag.

Seal the baggies up, then add your scrapbook paper and paper with the printed words to it and you're set!

We used the font Parchment.

Easy Peasy!

Next up: I made another scrabble art frame.

I loved this scrapbook paper! So cute!

The frame is from the DI, it's getting a new paint job! I'm trying to decide what color and what to put in it next!

Then I found these super cute free printable from Shindig parties to go I sort of fell madly in love with them so I HAD to make these too!

Seriously, are these just not the cutest!

Valentine Cupcakes Part 2

You just can not have Valentine's Day Dinner without some kind of dessert.

RIGHT?!

I absolutely LOVE strawberries and chocolate

{Who doesn't!!!!}
Well, I didn't have strawberries to dip so the next best thing was

a strawberry cake mix and since I have been wanting to try out the swirl frosting, it worked out perfect!
(plus it saved me some money and a trip to the store)

OK, so maybe that isn't what it's really called, but, that's what I call it!

so swirl frosting is what I did!

I have seen this idea all over Pinterest.

AND

I am here to tell you it is so easy...you can't mess this up!

Make and bake your cupcakes according to the directions. When I use a cake mix, I "jazz" it up a little

by adding 1 c. of sour cream, 1 c. cream (instead of water)

If you have cute Valentine cupcake liners use them!

Buy some frosting or make your own. My go recipe is from Martha Stewart! Buttercream Frosting Recipe

Get a glass out. Put a baggie inside of it, and then fold the edges over the top of the glass.

All I did was let the red food coloring run down the sides of the baggie and then add the frosting!

When the bag is filled with frosting remove it from the glass, twist the top so the frosting can't come out, and then cut the tip off!

Pipe the frosting onto the cupcakes...add the sprinkles...and you've got some super cute Valentine Cupcakes!

Ooh, and so yummy too!

and perfect for Valentine's Day!

Valentine Day Decor Part 1

I am so glad that I have a computer to myself so that I can put as much stuff on it that I want!

Hubby is so paranoid about getting viruses because he's had like 3 and had to get the computers fixed!

I just tell him that he should trust me...I haven't had any!

{knock on wood}

Anyway, now I can share some projects/Valentine Decor!

I didn't take a pic with the lights on....but you get the idea.

The red balls I scored (brand new) from the DI for $1.00.

The pink ones I got from Walmart after Christmas for $.75!
