Η βασική ιδέα της μουσικής των&nbsp;<b>Smokey Bandits</b>&nbsp;είναι να συνδυάσουν μουσική από διαφορετικές δεκαετίες ή ακόμα καλύτερα, να δώσουν έναν πιο μοντέρνο χαρακτήρα στην μουσική του χθες έτσι ώστε να μπορούν να την εκτιμήσουν οι νεότερες γενιές. Η δεύτερη βασική τους ιδέα είναι να μπορέσουν να ενώσουν παραδοσιακή μουσική του 20ου αιώνα από όλο τον κόσμο ξεκινώντας από την ελληνική - βαλκανική- μεσογειακή μουσική φτάνοντας μέχρι την μεξικάνικη -surf- western- brazilian και afro latin μουσική.</div><div align="justify" style="margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 1em;">Business as usual στο σπίτι των Smokey Bandits: μπασογραμμές πάνε και έρχονται, τρομπέτες χαλαρώνουν στο καθιστικό, τα ακορντεόν και τα τρομπόνια είναι ξαπλωμένα, ενώ congas, maracas και bongos τσακώνονται για την τελευταία ταινία του Tarantino. Τα φλάουτα θέλουν να αναλάβουν την αρχηγία του σπιτιού την ώρα που Βαλς και Ταγκό πίνουν σαμπάνια και κιθάρες και Rhodes κάθονται αναπαυτικά και βλέπουν (για ακόμα μια φορά) το&nbsp;<b>"Smokey And The Bandit"</b>&nbsp;(την αγαπημένη τους ταινία). Όλα είναι τόσο «καθημερινά και χαλαρά» που αρχίζεις να αναρωτιέσαι αν αυτό είναι το φυσιολογικό για ένα σπίτι. Αν προσέξεις καλά στις γωνίες των τοίχων μπορείς να δεις μέχρι και τα groove να κάθονται ήσυχα ήσυχα. Ακόμα και οι κοπέλες τους αγνοούν την ύπαρξή τους εκεί. Και ξαφνικά το φαντάζεσαι: Δύο μαύροι ιππότες περπατάνε στις εξαιρετικά επικίνδυνες γειτονιές της Gotham city δίπλα στον Almodobar, τον Guy Ritchie, τον Danny Boyle και τον Quentin Tarantino! Είναι ώρα να σκηνοθετήσουν μια ταινία. Είναι όμως πραγματικότητα ή ένα ακόμα ψεύτικο όνειρο;</div><div align="justify" style="margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 1em;">Έχουν περάσει τουλάχιστον 20 χρόνια από την πρώτη φορά που οι Smokey Bandits είδαν τον Chet Baker στην τηλεόραση να τραγουδάει και να παίζει την τρομπέτα του.</div><div align="justify" style="margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 1em;">Από τότε δεν έχουν πάψει να πιστεύουν πως είχε αυτό το χρυσό άγγιγμα. Είχε ανθρώπους να τρώνε μουσικά όνειρα από το χέρι του. Εκείνα τα χρόνια η Margaret Thatcher ήταν ακόμα στην εξουσία. Ο Ronald Regan ήταν πρόεδρος των ΗΠΑ. Το τοίχος του Βερολίνου ήταν άθικτο, ο Nelson Mandela φυλακισμένος και το apartheid βασίλευε στη Νότιο Αφρική. Τα πράγματα όμως πάντα αλλάζουν. Μια κοινωνική και πολιτιστική επανάσταση επρόκειτο να ξεσπάσει.</div><div align="justify" style="margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 1em;">Εκατοντάδες παράνομα πάρτι σε αποθήκες σε κάθε σημείο του πλανήτη έμπλεκαν μουσικές και ανθρώπους. Το βινύλιο ήταν δύναμη και αγόραζες μουσική από δισκάδικα. Δεν υπήρχαν CD mixers. Μόνο οι Yuppies είχαν κινητά τηλέφωνα και αυτά είχαν το μέγεθος τούβλου. Ήταν μια προ -email και προ -internet εποχή. Φαίνεται απίστευτο το πως επιβιώσαμε. Και τώρα.... αισθανόμαστε Out Of Space! Το μέλλον μας καλεί. Χρειαζόμαστε έναν πραγματικά ξεχωριστό και αληθινό ήχο που θα αποδώσει τη δικαιοσύνη που η κάθε εποχή απαιτεί. Γι’ αυτό οι Smokey Bandits σέβονται τον Chet ευλαβικά. Μπορεί να ακούγεται λίγο μελαγχολικό ή παρωχημένο αλλά δεν μπορούν να κρυφτούν. Θέλουν να μοιραστούν μόνο πραγματικές ιστορίες και ειλικρινή μουσική με τον καθένα.</div><div align="justify" style="margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-top: 1em;">Ξόδεψαν εκατοντάδες ώρες στο στούντιό τους συζητώντας, γράφοντας μουσική, καπνίζοντας (τόσο πολύ που όταν φίλοι έμπαιναν μέσα το παράπονο ήταν.... "Hey! είναι τόσο Smokey εδώ μέσα"), κόβοντας 50’s και 60’s Jazz και Swing samples άσχετα με το αν δεν χρησιμοποίησαν τίποτα από αυτά. Δεν υπάρχει ούτε ένα τραγούδι που να μην το ακούσαμε και να μην μας θύμισε κάποιο άλλο κομμάτι, ή ελληνικό ή ξένο. Μετά το τραγούδι «Χαμογέλα» των Τριημιτόνιο, το οποίο όπως σας ενημρώσαμε ήδη θυμίζει λίγο από Black eyed peas και «I gotta feeling», αλλά και λίγο από το «Toi +moi» του Γάλλου καλλιτέχνη Gregoire, ήλθαν και τα υπόλοιπα κομμάτια να προστεθούν στην λίστα που όλο και κάτι μας… θυμίζουν.<br /> <br /> Για παράδειγμα, το κομμάτι «Come with me» του συγκροτήματος Κόκκινα Χαλιά παρουσιάζει εξαιρετικές ομοιότητες με το τραγούδι που ερμήνευσαν τα μέλη της τουρκικής αποστολής στην Eurovision το 2008, κερδίζοντας την έβδομη θέση. Δηλαδή αυτό δεν το χαρακτηρίζεις απλά «κοινά στοιχεία», ψάχνεις να βρεις εάν υπάρχει κάτι στο οποίο διαφέρουν! Ασχετα από το ύφος των Beatles και των Rolling Stones στο οποίο κινείται, μοιάζει εξαιρετικά με το κομμάτι της Τουρκίας που παρουσιάστηκε πριν από δύο χρόνια στην Eurovision. <br /> <br /> Οι ομοιότητες όμως δεν σταματούν εδώ: Bαλάντω Τρύφωνος και τραγούδι με τίτλο The time is now: Θα μπορούσε κάλλιστα να πει κανείς ότι η μπαλάντα της νεαρής και πολλά υποσχόμενης τραγουδίστριας θυμίζει λίγο από το soundtrack του Τιτανικού, ενώ πηγαίνοντας προς το ρεφρέν, το «μπλέξαμε» με τους Aerosmith και το θρυλικό «I don’t wanna miss a thing». <br /> <br /> Σε ρυθμούς της Ελενας Παπαρίζου, αλλά και του πασίγνωστου Shady Lady της Ani Lorak κινείται η Αντιγόνη Ψυχράμη. Υπάρχουν πάντα και οι εξαιρέσεις, όμως η συνήθεια θέλει και φέτος το clubbing να είναι mainstream την Παρασκευή και το Σάββατο και πολυθεματικό τις καθημερινές. Ακούγεται λογικό: οι weekenders (αυτό το χαρμάνι των φυλών) είναι αμέτρητοι. Δεν τους καλύπτει ένα μουσικό είδος κι ακριβώς εδώ είναι που έρχεται το mainstream να δώσει στο «πόπολο» ένα mix από μουσικές μερίδες, τουτέστιν ραδιοφωνικά hits κάθε είδους, από pop και house μέχρι hip hop και ελληνικά. Τα επιμέρους γούστα μπορούν να ικανοποιηθούν καλύτερα τις καθημερινές, οπότε τα clubs στήνουν προσεκτικά τα θεματικά τους patries, στοχεύοντας συνήθως σ' ένα πιο νεανικό κοινό που έχει, αν όχι την οικονομική, τουλάχιστον τη χρονική πολυτέλεια να επιλέξει την Τρίτη, την Τετάρτη ή την Πέμπτη ως βραδιά εξόδου. Έτσι, στη μέση της εβδομάδας μπορεί να επιλέξει ανάμεσα σε βραδιές που είναι αφιερωμένες αποκλειστικά στη σύγχρονη r&amp;b, σε ζωντανές εμφανίσεις καλλιτεχνών, ελληνικά ή house parties, ενώ -σπανιότερα- προκύπτουν κι άλλα θέματα, όπως το cabaret ή το κιτς. Πάντως, δύο τελείως διαφορετικά μεταξύ τους clubs, το «Venue» και το «Second Skin», δείχνουν ν' αντιστέκονται σθεναρά στον mainstream κανόνα.
