MASTODON last month launched a pre-order at MastodonRocks.com for "The Hunter" limited-edition package, which includes a CD/DVD housed in a digipack with an exclusive alternative artwork cover, a 20" x 30" lenticular poster featuring the album cover of the standard CD, an Augmented Reality Experience by Total Immersion that will contain exclusive content only available to this package, plus an instant download of the band's first new album track, "Black Tongue", also available for sale through all participating digital music retailers.

The visual companion to the song "Black Tongue", featuring contemporary American folk artist A.J. Fosik, creator of "The Hunter" cover art piece, can be seen below.

When asked about the sound of MASTODON's forthcoming album, drummer Brann Dailor told the German edition of Metal Hammer magazine, "When you listen to the songs, they don't sound as 'fun' as we perceive them to be, I guess; it's still pretty extremely heavy material." He added, "We had a few songs that were kind of, not left over from 'Crack The Skye', but just stuff that we wanted to be on that album, but that album kind of took on a whole different thing of its own and there were a few stragglers that were super-heavy and crazy that didn't make it, and we finally got to put them on this record. And then we wrote a whole bunch of brand new stuff. There's, like, 14 songs that we recorded. And it's sort all over the place — a lot of different sounds. Some straight-up classic-rock-sounding songs, straight-up death metal-sounding songs and some completely bizarre, weirdo rock songs that we're not really sure what they are, but we love them."

"The Hunter" was recorded at Doppler Studios in Atlanta with producer Mike Elizondo. Drum tracks were previously completed in Los Angeles at the legendary Sound City Studios where NIRVANA's masterwork "Nevermind" was recorded.

BRAINSTORM's last album, "Memorial Roots", was released on October 16, 2009 via AFM Records.

Metal Blade in June 2007 released the first-ever BRAINSTORM DVD, "Honey from the B's (Beasting around the Bush)". The box set was released in digipack format "with special metal effect." The disc entered the Hungarian Music DVD chart at position No. 18.

The CD was recorded by LANDMINE MARATHON guitarist Ryan Butler at Arcane Digital Recording Studio (EXHUMED, NIGHTRAGE, MISERY INDEX, PHOBIA) and mastered by Dave Shirk at Sonorous Mastering. The album features the debut of the band's new drummer, Andy York.

The "Gallows" cover art was created by U.K. artist Rob "Mid " Middleton, who has previously worked with NAPALM DEATH, EXTREME NOISE TERROR and DEVIATED INSTINCT (in which Middleton plays guitar), among others.

Produced by Johnny K – known for his work with 3 DOORS DOWN, DISTURBED, and SEVENDUST, not to mention his Grammy Award-nominated collaboration with STAIND, 2008's "The Illusion Of Progress" — and mixed by the legendary Chris Lord-Alge, the CD stands as STAIND's most intense and powerful work to date. BONES, the new band featuring bassist and vocalist Jon "Necromancer" Woodring (who briefly played in NACHTMYSTIUM a few years back), guitarist "Carcass" Chris Svoboda (who used to have a solo project called ETERNAL HATRED), and drummer Joe "Warlord" Schaeffer, has just released its self-titled debut album on Planet Metal.

Full of filthy hooks and backed up by a distinctive and unrelenting production, the CD was made entirely in Chicago with the help of engineer Sanford Parker and artists Matt "Putrid" and Christina Casperson.

According to a press release, BONES features "three of Chicago's most ferocious filth-hounds return[ing] to ruin what's left of their lives... and yours! BONES plays hellish metal in the local tradition of MASTER, DEVASTATION and FUNERAL NATION."

HATRIOT — the new thrash metal project led by veteran San Francisco Bay Area vocalist Steve "Zetro" Souza (TENET, DUBLIN DEATH PATROL, EXODUS, LEGACY) — made its live debut this past Saturday, July 16 at the Bay Area Metal Festival at the Avalon in Santa Clara, California. Playing second guitar for the band at the concert was Glen Alvelais (FORBIDDEN, TESTAMENT) following the recent departure of Kosta Varvatakis.

Fan-filmed video footage of the show can be seen below.

Varvatakis left HATRIOT in early June after he "realized that trying to make a life out of playing heavy metal just wasn't for [him]." He added on his Facebook page, "I was starting to lose all the passion that I had for music. I wasn't happy. I was starting to not get along with other members and I simply wasn't having fun anymore."

HATRIOT recently made its entire four-song demo available for free download at Megaupload.

music gallery news,Overkill is an American thrash metal band, formed in 1980 in New Jersey. They have gone through many line-up changes, with singer Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth and bassist D.D. Verni remaining from the original lineup. Along with Anthrax (whose one-time lead guitarist, Dan Spitz, was also an early member of Overkill, the band is one of the most successful East Coast thrash metal bands. The band has a notable mascot named Chaly, a skeletal bat with a skull-like face, bony wings, and green eyes. Chaly has appeared on most of their album covers.

To date, Overkill has released 15 studio albums, 2 EPs, 2 live albums and a "covers" album. They were one of the early thrash metal bands to sign to a major label (Atlantic Records, in 1986), though Overkill would not achieve commercial success until they popularized "thrash" in the late 1980s with their contemporaries Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus and Testament. The band achieved its biggest success with their 1993 album I Hear Black, which debuted at #122 on the Billboard 200 charts, the band's highest ever chart position in the United States.

White Lion is an American/Danish hard rock/heavy metal band that was formed in New York City in 1983 by Danish vocalist Mike Tramp and American guitarist Vito Bratta. Mainly active in the 1980s and early 1990s, the band achieved double platinum status with their #8 hit "Wait" and #3 hit "When the Children Cry" from their second album Pride. The band continued their success with their third album Big Game. After the fourth album Mane Attraction, White Lion disbanded in 1992, but was reformed again by Tramp in 1999 with all new musicians.

It promises to be the most profound musical statement by Mike Tramp yet. “With this album no stone has been left unturned, no compromises made, this album is complete in every way”. The album will be first only released in Denmark via Kick music/Sony Music, but also made available via TargetShop so that loyal fans around the world can purchase the album Tramp refers as “my best ever, my masterpiece.”

Co-produced with guitar player Søren Andersen, the term “Rock N Roll Circuz” refers to the atmosphere created by Tramp around the band in the studio when recording the album. “It made us visualize this old fallen apart circus, from there we built certain things into the songs and into the album.” The album was recorded and mixed in the same studio in Copenhagen.

Having now returned home to Copenhagen, Denmark, the road that Tramp has traveled in his 32 years of rock n roll is uniquely his own. The stories of which can be heard throughout his 5 studio solo albums, his latest no exception. “This album is even deeper and more personal than ever before. People should get ready for “All Of My Life”, a song that lyrically speaks for itself, with many describing it as “Classic Tramp”.

First rising to stardom over 30 years ago with “Mabel”, Tramp earlier this year re-emerged as a public figure in Denmark via his appearance on the TV show “All Stars”. “It was a great chance to show and tell an entire country my life story of 32 years in rock’n’roll”. In October 2009, Tramp will be embarking on his first big tour of Denmark ever and early next year will venture out into the world, step by step.

Meliah Rage is an American power/thrash metal band from Boston, Massachusetts, formed in 1987 by guitarist/songwriter Anthony Nichols. Meliah Rage (whose name was inspired the Meliah Indian tribe's practice of taking opium before going into battle), was signed to Epic records in 1988. Characterized primarily by their thrash metal vibe married to more classical metal melodies, the band has released eight albums since their inception. Solitary Solitude, released in 1990, turned out to be Meliah Rage's last Epic release; in 1992, they left the Sony-owned label. It was also in 1992 that Meliah Rage went through some lineup changes. Jesse Johnson and Stu Dowie left the band, replaced by two newcomers: bassist Keith Vogele and drummer Sully Erna, who spent 18 months in Meliah Rage before going on to become the lead singer of the well-known, Boston-based alternative metal band Godsmack. The band's 2004 lineup united three original members—Nichols, Koury and Johnson—with drummer Barry Spillberg (ex-member of Wargasm) and new lead singer Paul Souza. Nichols had expressed interest in working with original lead singer Mike Munro again, but Munro declined the offer in order to spend more time with his family—and Souza ended up getting the gig. With that new lineup in place, Meliah Rage recorded their first album in eight years, Barely Human, which was released on Screaming Ferret Records in August 2004. The 2009 release "Masquerade," featured the return of original singer Mike Munro. The band's current 2011 lineup features Paul Souza back on vocals, Anthony Nichols and Jim Koury on guitars, Darren Lourie on bass, and Stu Dowie on drums.

DREAM THEATER To Tour With TRIVIUM,music gallery news

Progressive metal giants DREAM THEATER will embark on a U.S. headlining tour in September with support from their Roadrunner Records labelmates TRIVIUM. Exact cities and dates will be announced soon.

"On The Backs Of Angels", a brand new song from DREAM THEATER, is available for streaming at the Roadrunner Records YouTube channel. The track comes off the band's new album, "A Dramatic Turn Of Events", which is scheduled for release on September 13 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was mixed by Andy Wallace, who has previously worked with AVENGED SEVENFOLD, WHITE ZOMBIE, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, SEPULTURA, SLAYER and NIRVANA, among many others.

TRIVIUM's new album, "In Waves", will be released on August 9 via Roadrunner Records. The follow-up to 2008's "Shogun" was recorded primarily at Paint It Black Studios in Orlando, Florida (with only the drums having been tracked at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida) with the production/mixing team of Colin Richardson (MACHINE HEAD, BULLET FOR MY VALENTINE, SLIPKNOT, FEAR FACTORY) and Martin "Ginge" Ford, along with engineer Carl Bown.

Five Finger Death Punch. music gallery news, is an American heavy metal band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2005, the group's name is derived from classic oriental martial arts cinema. The band originally consisted of vocalist Ivan Moody, guitarist Zoltan Bathory, guitarist Caleb Bingham, bassist Matt Snell, and drummer Jeremy Spencer. Bingham was replaced by guitarist Darrell Roberts in 2006, who was then replaced by Jason Hook in 2009. Bassist Matt Snell departed from the band in 2010 and was replaced by Chris Kael in 2011.

Their debut album The Way of the Fist was released in 2007. Following its release the band began achieving success rapidly. The 2009 follow-up album War Is the Answer further increased their popularity, leading to both of the albums being certified gold by the RIAA, selling over 500,000 copies each in the United States. The band's third album, entitled American Capitalist will be released in September 2011. The band has played international music festivals including Mayhem Festival in 2008 and 2010, and Download Festival in 2009 and 2010.
