I heard this morning that Dvorak was inspired by the native Indians' music, whilst visiting the USA. Now I know why the New World symphony occasionally reminds me of Samuel Coleridge-Taylor's Hiyawatha's Wedding feast (my second ever experience of singing in a choir, if memory serves ...).
