Eiks (pronounced like ‘aches’ as in ‘aches and pains’

Eiks is a Japanese-British singer songwriter, whose delicate voice, haunting music and poetic lyrics create a dreamlike atmosphere that draws you in.

Her influences come from far and wide but to name a few they are Ryuichi Sakamoto, Nick Drake and Radiohead.

Growing up Eiks heard a variety of music in her home which was classical, folk and various Japanese singer/songwriters, this also plays a part in moulding her into the artist she is today.

“When I write songs (on piano/guitar) I get inspiration from virtually anything from my experiences such as travel, love and my urban life in London. Or from things I see, smell, hear and read. Sometimes I write simple lyrics and other times I try and make them vivid with visual images.

What I absolutely love doing is getting lost in making music especially when playing something that evoke haunted atmosphere and chords that my ears relish.” Eiks

Bombers release new AA Single Forecast/The Way you Think You Look

The Birmingham ‘scene’ has been well publicised and as NME praised Bombers for being “[among] the second wave of Birmingham’s most promising talent”, Artrocker and Music Week however distanced them by saying they “refuse tie-dye and irony in favour of short bursts of sharp and satisfying post-punk” and The Fly agreed citing them for being “refreshingly different from the city at the moment”.

While bands such as Peace and Swim Deep possess a doe-eyed psychedilc sense of nostalgia Bombers have always held a more twisted and daggered approach to their blend of post punk. Where as previous single Drawing had a doom laden snarl of Nick Cave and Joy Division with hints of No Wave, Forecast and The Way You Think You Look hold more a minimal sense of nonchalance; declaring a sense of frustration, confusion and wry observations of bands like The Fall.

Not ones to be pigeonholed the dark undertones are still there but this time its stripped back with exasperated fury. They are still hitting the live circuit with relentless energy and it’s the uncontrollable live force that’s making their reputation spread across the UK.

The View launch T in the Park 20th anniversary tartan

Festival organisers DF Concerts and founding partner Tennent’s Lager have unveiled an official T in the Park tartan which has been specially commissioned to celebrate the festival’s 20th year. Designed and created by Slanj in honour of the festival reaching its landmark 20th year, the tartan was launched yesterday morning by Mo and Kyle from The View.

The official T in the Park tartan is a contemporary grey and black plaid design, with subtle red, yellow and green lines running throughout to reflect the festival brand. The tartan is made in 'festival proof' Teflon-coated, machine washable, poly viscose material, and will also be available in a specially-woven medium weight wool for traditional kilts, trousers, jackets and mini kilts. The View will play T in the Park’s Main Stage on Saturday 13th July, and took time out from promoting their brand new album, Seven Year Setlist, to officially launch the tartan yesterday morning in Glasgow.

Mo from The View said: “What better way to party at T's 20th birthday than wear a festival proof kilt. I'll be in mine and we wanna see as many of yous down the front wearing yours. This year is gonna be rocking.”

Spring Offensive have released their new single 'Speak' as a free download. DOWNLOAD IT FREE HERE.

'Speak' is accompanied by a live performance video, filmed in the black stone and cavernous setting of one of the UK's few rackets courts. The location has a nuclear shelter feel to it, rather than a sports court. It was directed by Spring Offensive's long-term collaborator Sam King.

Self produced and mixed by Emre Ramazanoglu (Warpaint, Palma Violets, Summer Camp) ‘Speak’ shows off a fresh side to the band with it's hypnotic driving loop and clattering rhythms underpinning their more familiar group harmonies and evocative lyrics.

Written in a remote cottage in Wales and recorded in a living room home studio by David Pye (Wild Beasts, Faithless), ‘Speak’ is about being closed off and seeking isolation, about crawling into yourself to avoid confrontation. The lyrics teeter on the edge of a confession, but despite the build up, the ‘thing’ that so desperately needs to be communicated never is.

After recently supporting Stealing Sheep, Stornoway and To Kill A King the Oxford 5 piece return to their former home town on 15 June to play at St John the Evangelist (Oxford) and following up their recent sold out show at The Lexington play a more intimate show at London’s Hoxton Hall on the 19 June.

Legendary progressive rock band, Yes, today announced it's 2014 European tour, kicking off 29 April 2014 in Oxford, England and wrapping up 22 May 2014 in Tilburg, Netherlands. On this tour, fans can look forward to a unique Yes experience; the band will perform three of its most popular albums in their entirety, The Yes Album, Close to the Edge, and Going for the One.

Performing three of rock and roll’s most revered albums, Yes members Chris Squire (bass), Steve Howe (guitar), Alan White (drums), Geoff Downes (keyboards), and Jon Davison (vocals), will delight audiences with Yes staples from the last four decades. Scream Shout to release new album Threads in July

Scream! Shout! Say Nothing was born in an Irish pub ten years ago, with a collective shrug in agreement that the name wasn't important. After previous "serious bands" for all five members - Ben Davies, Ben Street, Chris Hollis, Dan Magee and Jamie Dunn - this would be a project with no aim other than making music they all enjoy.

Within a year, the post-hardcore outfit were preparing to set off in a bus bought for £500 from a local pool team, to play gigs up and down the UK. Graffiti-style pool balls splashed across the side of their mechanically frail ride, with the help of their new label Scylla Records, and a large percentage of the staff of the RAC, Scream Shout played their first UK tour.

The following four years saw two EPs, support slots with Hell Is For Heroes, Enter Shikari, Don Broco and Deaf Havana, and many more tours (in a slightly less catastrophic bus). Then, in 2009, the band decided to begin writing a new record.

A five-year writing and recording process was not the original plan. But, true to the band's mission statement, this was not a project that was going to get in the way of 'real life', and real-life commitments outside of the walls of the studio like university, house-moving, job changes and a six-month marine biology project in Cambodia (no, really) meant that sessions laying down tracks for the new album were few and far between.

So here we are. Five years after the first writing sessions, a decade after the band's inception, and with a ridiculous name shortened to Scream Shout, 'Threads' is finally here.

The album is released on July 22nd 2013 on Scylla Records

Frank Turner will release his new single, ‘The Way I Tend To Be’, on June 17th through Xtra Mile Recordings. It's the second single to be taken from his acclaimed fifth studio album ‘Tape Deck Heart’, which was released last month and cements the Winchester-born folk-punker’s status as a maverick hero who just happens to be one of the country’s biggest singer-songwriters.

Turner, who headlined Wembley Arena last year and was also chosen as the act to open Danny Boyle's stunning Olympic Opening Ceremony, has recently completed a sold out UK tour. He is the highest-billed UK artist on the day he plays this summer's Reading and Leeds Festival, where he will play on the Main Stage on the Green Day bill.

‘Tape Deck Heart’ reached Number One on the iTunes chart, Number Two on the Official UK Chart and also entered the Top Ten on the US iTunes Chart in its week of release, underlining Frank Turner’s arrival as a crossover DIY star. ‘Tape Deck Heart’ is his most expertly crafted yet, an album pockmarked with years of relentless touring and prolific writing, where Turner sounds at his most accomplished without sandpapering down his raw edge, spinning narrative tales through rousing, adrenaline-veined anthems.

Since signing to Michael King's BGM at the tender age of 16, Hatty has been in solid development over the last two years experimenting with different sounds and styles. She released promotional tracks "Best Kept Secret" and "No One Loves You" to help build her audience. During this period of growth Hatty has amassed well over a million YouTube views,20000 Facebook followers and has performed over 300 gigs, including supports with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Wretch 32, Olly Murs and Wiley. Hatty has also had three massive school tours to date and was invited to the MOBO's and handed out an award alongside Pixie Lott in front of Prince Harry for his charity "WellChild".

In March this year Hatty completed her "Inspire The Kids" school tour which took in over 15,000 kids. Also in that same month she completed her album "Pick N Mix". On the album she has written 9 out of the 11 tracks, including her official debut track "TroubleMaker".

Hatty has recently been asked to be the face of The Mentor Foundation. A charity that goes into schools and help spread positive reviews through music.

The Mend To Hit The Road On UK Tour Dates In July

The mastermind behind Britain’s biggest and best boy band has done it again. Nigel Martin-Smith who founded Take That over two decades ago has discovered four rare young talents with a hard-hitting message to convey to kids about crime. Meet The Mend; lead singer Craig Worsley from Fulwood, Preston, Jayme Kontzle from Crewe, Dean Kelly from Stockport and Kris Evans from Alkrington, Middleton.

The band now head out on their first headline tour dates in July this summer, taking in shows at the major UK cities of Birmingham, London and Manchester.

For a bunch of lads rounded up from auditions at inner city schools and estate community groups, they’ve had a whirlwind twelve months as finalists on Britain’s Got Talent, before supporting girl group Little Mix earlier this year and releasing debut single Where Were You? which reached #67 in the UK singles chart.

“You know, we’re just normal lads” says member Jayme Kontzle “We’re not rough and we’re not angels either. We’ve all had a bit of mither, but we’ve found our way out of it because that way of life is not the way to go if you want to achieve anything. We feel privileged to be given this opportunity to do what we love doing most. Singing and writing is what it’s about.”

Out to fix “Broken Britain” the band are four individuals who, unlike most male vocal groups, write all their own material, with denouncements of knife crime and anti-social behaviour featuring heavily in their profound lyrics. Musical Muse Sacha Di Bona arrives in the UK

French artiste, Sacha Di Bona is a creative songwriter whose vivid imagination has allowed him to create his up-coming work ‘Amicis’, an EP that is set for release on 6th August 2013. The EP is a collection of songs that take in everything from fairies and angels to huskies ‘in the mist’, making this a project that encompasses music, fashion and art culture with gusto.

Not only is Sacha releasing his own music, but the EP has also been selected by iconic photographer Patrick De Marchelier to feature in his Paris exhibit throughout May and June. In his music, Di Bona aims to create an alternative reality where imagination is key and reality is secondary.

The first release from Amicis will be lead single ‘Fairy Dust’ set for release on 8th July. Di Bona says of the single:

“Fairy Dust is the perfect introduction song and a good transition from the reality to this other world. It's also the first song in the EP and even though musically far from what follows and what's to come, it was the ideal way to introduce myself and some of the people working with me side by side. Sadly for everyone, the real meaning of fairy dust will always remain hidden but maybe the video will help understanding what it means. It's more philosophical than people might think at first glance. I like mysteries ...”

The whole EP represents an ongoing project for the Frenchman, who plans to release an EP each year for the next five years, spanning his own life journey, experiences and interactions.

“The idea was to write a song for a different friend or person from my life (thus Amicis), a song that would translate the story I have/had with each or be about something that we have in common while still staying in this magical world.”

With so many exciting projects in the pipeline, and a full length album in the pipeline, Fairy Dust is the beginning of a new and inspiring chapter in Sacha Di Bona’s journey.

Guitar Virtuoso Jon Gomm Seeks Musicians To Open UK Tour Dates

After 2 years touring all over the planet, viral sensation and guitar virtuoso Jon Gomm is hitting the road on home soil with his first major solo UK tour this Autumn, playing the Youtube hits that first brought him fame and premiering songs from his forthcoming album Secrets Nobody Keeps.

Jon is pleased to announce that if you are a band or solo artist, you can now apply to play the opening set at one of the upcoming dates. Gomm well remembers the pain of applying for support slots in his hometown, only to find it was already taken by a touring support artist, often on the same label or agency roster as the headliners. Where possible, Jon wants to give the chance to local musicians.

How To Apply :

1) Go to the facebook event for the one gig nearest you (listed at http://bit.ly/GomUK )
2) Please post a direct link to video or audio of your music (e.g. Youtube, Soundcloud, or Bandcamp) as a post on this event page.
3) Jon will personally select a shortlist of bands.
4) We'll invite the guests of the facebook event to vote for who they'd like to see.

The final choice for support artist will then be made by Jon in conjunction with the concert venue/promoter, and will be subject to terms and conditions set out by the venue/promoter. For a few gigs, support artists have already been chosen (for special reasons).

Sunderland's (UK) alternative rock act Rayne unveil their latest single release 'Raise The Alarm' as a free download. Taken from the bands 'The New Enlightenment' debut album, the track delivers an epic rock sound with stadium sized choruses. The anthemic songwriting skills of Rayne has drawn them comparisons to bands such as 30 Seconds To Mars, Muse, U2 and The Killers.

Creating a sound much bigger than the sum of their parts, Ben Potts (Vox/Bass), Adam Dagg (Guitar/Keys) and Steven Naisbet (Drums) have been steadily building Rayne's reputation as a 'must see' live act on the UK gig circuit since rising to the finals of Live and Unsigned in 2010. 2013 has already been a huge year for PiL, with touring China for the first time; including dates in Australia and Japan. Courteeners announce O2 Academy Liverpool warm-up show on 25th June 2013

Courteeners announced last night that they will play a warm-up show for Glastonbury and their Castlefield Bowl headline shows on Tuesday 25th June at Liverpool O2 Academy.

The show follows the band’s support slot with The Stones Roses at Finsbury Park last week and tickets will go on sale on Friday 14th June at 9am through www.gigsandtours.com.

Courteeners two headline outdoor shows, in association with Fosters Good Call, are being held at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester on 5th and 6th July, and they will play to 8,000 fans per night. Supports across both dates include Miles Kane, Reverend and the Makers, James Skelly and The Intenders, The Strypes, The Heartbreaks and Findlay. The gigs sold out straight away and they are the fastest selling Courteeners shows ever.

Courteeners released new single ‘Van Der Graaff’ last month, the follow-up to ‘Lose Control’ which was the first single from their top 10 album ‘ANNA’, and is an epic anthemic track with an addictive guitar riff and soaring vocals. It is sure to be a huge festival track this summer.

‘ANNA’ followed a two year break since Courteeners last album ‘Falcon’, which charted at #6 and was the follow-up to the bands #4 debut album ‘St. Jude’. The band recorded and produced ‘ANNA’ in Manchester at 80 Hertz Studios with producer Joe Cross (Hurts) and in December, performed new tracks from the album at a sold out homecoming show at the 17,000 capacity Manchester Arena.

DOM NEWTON has developed a cult following within the city for his unique one-off music nights: a blend of original material, off the wall live performances and a high-camp theme that lends itself to singing, dancing, and messing around in the fancy dress box. His summer show sees Newton take to the stage in the suitably louche surroundings of Studio 2 Parr St, where he will be premiering Atlantis. His previous events – the Horror Blues Halloween Ball, Malice in Wonderland and Barrington Fanshawe: Man of God– featured full sets of songs created specifically for the night, as well as guest musicians and DJs.

Offering the usual charismatic blend of story-telling through song with killer tunes, the event is described as a garage rock fantasy and details the adventures of Sailor Sid and his pirate crew in the magical kingdom of Atlantis. Sid falls in love with the beautiful mermaid princess Ariel and must battle the Kraken in a bid to save her from certain death. Although the songs take the listener on a journey through Sid and Ariel's romance, they are all strong enough to stand alone, underpinned by Newton’s raw blues talent and searing vocals.

Dom says: “I only do two shows a year – which means I can save everything up and do something special! I work on the albums as concepts, using the songs to tell the stories – in the style of a musical, but with more rock! It's a cheeky combo of rock music, theatre and comedy in a saucy package of entertainment. I’ve been living in the Atlantis for some time now, creatively, which means I'm always in my swimming trunks and am very much looking forward to sharing the story with the world.. Or at least the people who seem to be crazy enough to keep coming out and seeing me perform.”

It is rumoured that Liverpool legend Ian Prowse will be making a guest appearance as Poseidon. Support on the night will come from punk poet Anne Marie Briggs and will also feature the drawings of well-known local artist James Munro.

Dress code is Sailors, Swimwear, Sea creatures, Pirates and Princesses (attending without costumes will be very much frowned upon).

Blade Factory, the new live music venue on Greenland Street and the latest development of the impressive event and restaurant space Camp and Furnace, has joined together with Liverpool Philharmonic to present Skip ‘Little Axe’ McDonald, Saturday 15 June.

Providing guitars, bass, keyboards, and vocals, Little Axe is the return to the blues that Skip grew up with and learned from his father. Born Bernard Alexander on 1 September 1949, Dayton, Ohio. Skip McDonald learned to play the blues on his father's guitar from the age of 8, although by the time he was 12 years old he had opted to perform doo-wop.

McDonald has played on records by Grandmaster Flash, Afrika Bambaata, Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry, James Brown, Robert Plant, Mark Stewart and The Mafia, Sinead O’Connor and Megadeth. He made his name as an integral part of the Sugar Hill house band playing on the most influential early rap classics like Rapper’s Delight, The Message and White Lines.

Continuing the past meets present theme, Skip McDonald’s Little Axe performance mixes blues and roots music with modern technology, and for this very special appearance McDonald will provide blues vocals and guitar loops while Matt ‘The Assembly Worker’ Smyth will feature on laptop and electronics. Smyth controls the beats, the bass and adds
layers of reverb and delay to the tracks while Skip McDonald mainlines the old Delta blues. Together they plug it into the 21st century.

Greatness and decadence, poetry and rock n’roll, love and sex, peace and war.

These are the words that inspire this atypical stoner-grunge/power-rock 70's band called The Black Widow's Project, formed in 2010 in Geneva, Switzerland by the singer/guitarist Al Castro and the drummer Math Sink, performing a music both clean and dirty, coated with primitive hard rock which would flirt with the energies of grunge music. The quickly released its first EP called "Benefit Of The Doubt" which arouse great interest among the audience and in underground venues.

After several lineup changes, Raph Despas joined the band as the bass player which allows them to find an even more powerful and personal sound.

Early 2013, The Black Widow's Project released its debut full-length album, "Heavy Heart", on limited CD edition and available for full streaming right NOW!
