Thank you Bradley Quartet and Chorale for the music on High Attendance Day. We had a great turnout and a great response to the presentations.

Chorale and Handbells will not meet this Wednesday due to Fall Festival. We will be back on schedule next week.

Handbells will be playing on November 9th. We are doing a very exciting piece with mallets.

Christmas Dinner Theater Update The choir has been rehearsing Sunday afternoons at 1:30 PM and will continue this coming week. The music is beginning to come together with six weeks remaining to the presentation.

Soloists include Phil Koester on When the Little Baby Was Born, Stephen Reed on Imagine a World without Christmas, Jodi Commander on The Last Noel, and a special children’s feature, What Can I Give Him. Master of Ceremonies will be Guy Featherston.

Tickets go on sale next Monday in the church office.

Chorale Notes for 9/30/08

Greetings:

A big thank you to Stephanie and Jan for the solos and to Benjie, Troy, and David for stepping up to the mics for the walking bass lines. It came off very well.

This Sunday is Lord’s Supper with David Allen, Pianist. We are singing Shadow of Your Cross with Jodi Commander as soloist.

Thanks to the 20 singers that came to the first Christmas rehearsal last Sunday. Welcome to Tracy King in our alto section.

Please make Sunday rehearsals a priority. We have some difficult harmonies on a couple of the pieces that need everyone present. I have been talking to potential singers trying to pull together our needed 40+ singers. Please be doing the same. October is the month to learn the music!!!

Weekly Chorale Update 090808

Greetings Chorale,

You really sounded good Sunday morning. It is amazing what happens when we get up to that magical 30 number. Actually it is not magical at all. With the acoustics of a 450 seat building, that is where our choir starts changing from an ensemble sound to a choral sound. OOOH, what would 40 sound like?

This week has a prelude by the handbells and the song with the long name.

Chorale: We’ll Understand It Better By and By

Thank you, Chorale, Orchestra, and all soloists and groups that participated in the Gospel Homecoming Singing. We had a wide variety of musical styles and a great, appreciative crowd. A special thank you to our Tech Crew who spent the day at the church, Bill Lunsford on graphics, Randy Miller and Kelly Lauderdale on sound, Kay Lunsford on the TV broadcast. Also a big Thank You to Laura Rothrock for the great supper she prepared for the participants prior to the concert.

DVD’s will be available for $2 each. Come by and place your order in the church office.

Wasn’t it great havin a full choir loft! It is my long-time dream of having a full choir loft every Sunday. That requires a bunch of singers to come out of the pews and join us in the Chorale. We meet every Wednesday at 7 pm for rehearsal. What a great way to start the new year…singing praise to od and leading in worship! Come join us!

Heads Up! Rehearsals on Christmas music begin next month!

A big thank you goes to Linda Fox. She filled in for Sheryl on the piano the past two weeks and will be filling in for Diana at the organ this Sunday.

Another big thank you to Bill Matthews for filling in for me the two Sundays Pam and I were in the UK with the CenturyMen. It is great to have talented people like Bill and Linda who can very capably step in when needed!

I woul like to issue a welcone to Daniel Story who has joined the Chorale. I hear he is a good tenor. We always need more singers in Chorale!

The Gospel Homecoming is starting to take shape. The choir is working on the three choral numbers and we have commitments from the Bradley Quartet, the Reed Quartet, the Steeple Singers (of the First Presbyterian Church of Mexia), a trio of unknown name and a number of soloists including Jodi Commander, Stephen Reed, and Phil Koester (of Groesbeck). If you have a group that is interested in performing in the Gospel Homecoming let me know ASAP! I am expecting another great evening of gospel music. Make sure you are here Sunday evening, August 17th, 2008, at 7 pm.
