The price tag: $103,000 - easily purchased with arises from his first hit record, "Heartbreak Hotel". Graceland could be Elvis's primary residence for the next 20 years. His parents lived there too, as did his wife-to-be Priscilla Beaulieu and eventually their daughter, Lisa Marie. Elvis Presley died in an upstairs Graceland bathroom in 1977.

The Graceland estate can be found south of downtown Memphis and is just a few miles north with the Mississippi border. The grounds were named after Grace Toot, the daughter with the home's original owner. Grace inherited the house while it was still farmland. She gifted the land to a niece, Ruth Moore, who had the mansion built.

The colonial-style mansion is made from tan limestone with white columns. Two stone lions apparently guard the front entrance. Elvis expanded the living space from about 10,000 feet square to 17,000 feet square. He is known for his extravagance along with a unique sense of design; some refer to it kitschy. The home reflected Elvis well; he became so comfortable there any time he traveled, his resort rooms were pre-decorated with furniture sent from Graceland.

Elvis's outdoor and indoor estate expansions were considerable. For privacy, he constructed a fieldstone wall across the grounds. (Today it is filled with visitors' graffiti.) He added a wrought-iron privacy gate out drive; it's decorated with iron musical notes. He installed a swimming pool with adjacent jukebox in his parents' bedroom, as well as the famous Jungle Room carries a waterfall. Elvis also kept several televisions in the basement and was recognized to watch three simultaneously.

Today, audio tours begin at the lion-flanked portico. Visitors then see Elvis's living room and the adjacent music room. The tour moves on the kitchen and dining room, after which downstairs to the basement to see side-by-side TVs, a bar, along with a billiards table. The tour continues upstairs in the Jungle Room. Elvis memorabilia are displayed throughout, together with his sequined jumpsuits being especially prominent. Outdoors, people can easily see his trophy collection, horse stables, and a shooting range. A separate building displays his car collection and two small airplanes. Public tours show much of the mansion but prevent the top floor where Elvis passed away.

Elvis died at Graceland in 1977. Medical reports vary; he apparently stood a drug-induced heart attack. He was buried in a public cemetery but people experimented with rob his grave. Presley's remains were transferred to his mansion's Meditation Gardens, in which the performer joined his deceased parents and grandmother. The August 16th anniversary of Elvis Presley's death is a particularly popular time for Graceland visits. Despite a downpour of rain through Memphis, the twenty-fifth anniversary of his death drew a procession of 40,000 people.

After Elvis's death, Priscilla Presley managed the house and greatly increased its value by promoting tourism. Graceland opened to the public in 1982. The Presleys' daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, inherited the estate when she turned 30 years old. She kept the mansion but sold 85% from the grounds to a private management company in 2005. The newest owner, CKX, Inc., plans to make Graceland a childrens playground on par with Disneyland.

The Motown Hip Hop

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 23 Jan 2012 08:42:00 -0800

By Jack Dawsons

Growing up in the City of Detroit during the early sixties was a memorable era for music. It was a period of time whereby the unique sounding records of Motown were being played and heard throughout the streets, nightclubs, house parties and radio stations everywhere. It was common to have the soulful R and B records playing on the jukeboxes while folks were dancing in the streets or singing in the barber shops and beauty parlors to the love songs that eventually captivated the hearts of millions of people throughout the world. Music CD's and rap music were not heard of during that period, it was all about the vinyl records and rhythm and blues soul.

The songs that were written by Motown songwriters during the 60's and 70's had so much meaning. They were songs that spoke about true love, current events and the heartache and pains of life experiences. Oh yes, Motown had it going on! Their music became universal music. Many of the soulful tunes crossed over into other markets such as pop, jazz, blues, etc. But just like George Benson said in one of his recordings 'Everything Must Change', and sure enough, he was right about the music.

After giving so many years service and great music to the City of Detroit, Motown moved out and Rap/Hip Hop moved in. Instead of hearing someone singing My Baby Loves Me or My Girl, you began to hear new sounding lyrics of street experience expressed in rhythms with the mouth, chest, hands and feet as such had never been heard before.

This brand new sound called Rap evolved in the early 80's and became popular as any sky rocket inside the late 90's and New Millennium as Hip Hop/Rap. Even right now Rap/Hip Go music remains to be a adjustable billion dollar genre. Millions associated with CD's, videos and also DVD's can be bought each year in the Hip Hop genre of songs. And there isn't a sign in which Hip Hop are going to be slowing down or choosing a back seat to any individual anytime quickly.

So just what happened to the Motown seem? Did the idea die away? No! The Motown sound won't die away. It will certainly always play a substantial part inside the hearts associated with millions that embraced it really is sound back in the earlier 60's, and ongoing to move that sound on their children throughout the 70's, 80's along with 90's.

Sometimes you just have to move over and let the new kids on the block have a turn in expressing their musical talents, songs and ideas. And now the Hip Hop artists are not the new kids on the block anymore, for they have taken their position to express themselves musically, just like the rhythm and blues artists took their position to express themselves in the Motown era.

Ideas And Methods Of Writing Lyrics For Fans In These Modern Days

noreply@blogger.com (Unknown) — Mon, 23 Jan 2012 08:40:00 -0800

By Chris Borg

Music has been around for thousands of years. Long before writing lyrics was even a possibility, humans have been creating beats and rhythms for their own enjoyment. Music, in all its forms, is truly something that people don't seem to simply enjoy, but also need.

Humans have not had a monopoly on sound making. Primates, such as chimps and apes, have used branches to beat upon trees, rocks and simply the ground, to make their feelings known. Words were not involved, but they expressed themselves none-the-less. When man began tapping out simple beats, it became a way of enjoying themselves, as well as, eventually, handing down a verbal history.

Music lends itself well to telling stories from poems. It is often done the other way around as well, adding words to written music. Either way, your ability to convey your feelings with music, lyrics or not, is something that comes from the heart. Upbeat, soulful or romantic tunes fill the ears of those who really listen.

If you have stories in your heart and they need an outlet, write poetry and add notes at a later time. If lyrics is your thing, let someone else create the sounds to be associated with your words. Song writing can be done from either direction. As long as the words and music come together in a pleasing way, your story will be told.

There are all sorts of artists who write their own music, but many of them have others write the stories for them. Inspiration comes in many different forms, but if you're not feeling inspired, a simple way to come up with ideas is to cut random words out of magazines, newspapers, and even old books. Cut out words, randomly lay them out in front of you, and you might be amazed at what you come up with.

It is often with a sense of incredulity that you find yourself hastily jotting down words that come to mind. No matter what the particular feeling is invoked, a story may actually present itself. Free-flowing words or brainstorming, may result in a surprisingly good story. Just continue writing and see what comes out. Adding notes to create a song is then easily done.

Music artists are effective when they can bring enjoyment to others. Over the air waves, music travels to televisions and radios across the country, bringing people music to suit their mood. Both sides of this coin are necessary: those who enjoy writing lyrics and those who enjoy the resulting creation. This symbiotic relationship has been essential for music to endure as log as it has.

By Virgina Farley

An affordable classical guitar is the Yamaha C-40. This is because it is produced by Yamaha, a reputable company in the music industry. Spruce, rosewood and mahogany are the woods assembled by master craftsmen to form this phenomenal instrument. It has truly excellent tone quality and playability that will encourage as well as inspire an individual to play and practice, time and time again! The Yamaha C-40 classical guitar craftsmen, were trained in the art of making fine guitars from the masters, Eduardo Ferrer and Manuel Hernandez. Under their excellent tutelage, the guitar craftsmen at Yamaha attained skills that have for generations been passed down from master to trainee.

The Yamaha Corporation has dedicated itself to the manufacturing of numerous types of guitars. The production of the Reed Piano in 1887 was their earliest musical instrument. The company is more widely known and world famous for its motorcycles and Guitars. Currently, the terms Spanish Guitar and classical guitar are interchangeable.

The fundamental difference between a classical Guitar versus an acoustic guitar is basically the size of the fret. Frets are raised strips of material on the guitar, placed in a vertical position. These raised strips are hard and provide the player with a means of controlling the vibrations of the strings by stopping a string or allowing it to continue. Nylon strings are used on a classical guitar and steel strings are used on an acoustic guitar. Classical guitars from Yamaha are produced in a number of price ranges as they come in many styles and sizes. When choosing a guitar, thoughtful consideration should be given to a number of aspects. Examples of this are the experience level of the player and the size of the player as well as the instrument. These aspects need to be thoroughly investigated before the guitar is purchased.

Considering the price of the Yamaha C-40, it would be really difficult to find a starter instrument more suitable for the beginning learner, starting from scratch. The Yamaha C-40 offers the opportunity to learn the basics of classical, folk and Spanish guitar playing and will also provide the student with a path into electric guitar playing if they should like to go into rock in the future. If the student can master the wide frets on this Yamaha C-40 guitar, he will be able to transfer with ease to an electric or folk guitar later on. A student would have problems moving out to a classical guitar if he started with a folk guitar, where the strings are set really close together

Yamaha has been very successful in blending modern guitar manufacturing technologies with some of the most beneficial aspects of the traditional techniques of Spanish guitar making. They have done so through thorough research, extensive experimentation and critical analysis. To ensure that each instrument is of the highest possible standards, Yamaha Corporation has instituted an all-inclusive quality testing system. This has resulted in Yamaha bringing to the consumer, the Yamaha C-40, an instrument of remarkable performance and quality at a really affordable price. The Yamaha C-40 classical guitar, is therefore, a superb option for the student guitar player. The Yamaha C40 GigMaker Classical Acoustic Guitar is suitable for novices or individuals with limited funds. In fact, the C-40 series has guitars that are full sized and although the price is affordable, the quality is still the high level provided by Yamaha. Prices start at $140.

By Josh Tipler

People that are trying to decide what type of storage device to use are going to be looking at two very common options. The first option is a soft design. While not offering the level of protection that other models might, these designs typically offer more room for the storage of other things.

A lot of players prefer a hard design to a soft one and the reason why is simple enough. The hard design offers such a strong level of protection that a person can actually drop their instrument onto a hard service knowing that the storage device will keep it protected. The down side is that some of these hard designs might not have the additional room for storage that softer ones might.

Now that readers are more familiarized with the two types of designs that these products are typically found in, it is now time to discuss the three reasons that many players consider such a device to be important. The first reason is that protection is offered. Even the softer cases are going to offer a certain level of protection against the natural elements despite the fact that they cannot be dropped.

The second advantage that is often enjoyed by those players that go with some type of case has to do with the simple fact that they will often find it much easier to carry their instrument than they otherwise might have. When playing any type of gig, a player is going to find their self having to shuffle around the instrument from one location to another one. Carrying it in a case is often a much easier way to carry it.

The third reason cited by most experienced players is typically regarding storage. While playing gigs many players are dealing with extra pics, microphones, wires and other things that get in the way. Having another place to store these items while on the road often comes in handy.

By now, more beginning players should be well aware of the sheer importance of a guitar case. These devices offer protection, an easier way to transport the instrument and also additional storage. When a person begins to play gigs, storage will be an extremely important thing.
