The great thing is that my daughter oscillates between domestic affairs of princesses raising babies and princesses kicking butt. About half the time I hear, "You're a bad guy and you're going to jail!" followed by swishes, whooshes, and the sounds of plastic being slammed together. So, I was over joyed when a children's librarian colleague of mine suggested The Princess in Black by Shannon Hale.
