Quite literally nothing at all. Or for days when you're just not bothered. And for the last few weeks, this has been my go-to look for exactly that, when I'm just not that bothered. Since doing my make up course over the Summer and being qualified and whatnot, I tend to wear emphasised and dramatic make up everyday. I don't distinguish between day and night and like to be creative with what I put on my face.

Sometimes, in college (or Uni for all of you English peeps), this just looks a bit out of place. There is definitely a make up artist 'look' and I think a part of me wanted to prove that I could be like that, and had to look like that every day. Its only recently that I've realised I don't have to if I don't feel like it. And so, here is what I wear when I just want to look like me.

Armani Designer Lift Foundation* I adore this foundation, its one that glides onto the skin, provides a flawless base and is dewy in the nicest places. Its always such a treat when I wear this and I would definitely think of repurchasing. Toying between this and Rimmel Wake Me Up at the moment, and its close call! Shock because of the price different!

Benefit Sugarbomb Blush* Although not a massive fan of Benefit's gimmicky packaging, this is a beautiful coral blush, with the smallest hint of pink; creating a gorgeous flush on the skin.

Jemma Kidd Dewy Glo in Iced Gold Possibly the nicest cream highlight ever. Its subtle enough to be worn throughout the day but can be used at night too, and it blends so nicely that it never looks over the top.

Benefit Leggy Eyeshadow* Very much like MAC Naked Lunch, but slightly more shimmery.

MAC Omega Eyeshadow I now use this for my brows and contour - its the most versatile shade ever and is so easy to blend

MAC What Comes Naturally Lipliner Probably not completely necessary, but I love pale nude
lips and this helps to act as a base for lipstick and gloss and is super creamy

Benefit Life on the A List* Lipgloss A lovely slightly shimmery lipgloss that is natural for daytime and lasts a good while

MaxFactor False Lash Effect* My mascara of choice recently, its wand separates the lashes nicely, its a dark black formula and its easy to take off (I'm looking at you, Benefit They're Real)

♥

I always envy those people with naturally lovely nails. I fake it, at regular occurrences throughout the year. Sometimes you just can't beat having your nails filed into oblivion and fake ones placed on top. Our nails suffer for months afterwards but for those few weeks its worth it.

I only wear nail polish when I have gels on, as my natural little bitten stubs can't hack the prettiness.

Sally Hansen I Pink I Can - In the bottle this looks a bit 'bleh', a salmon pink that looks a bit runny. On the nails, it creates a lovely shine, and is a great 'pick me up' kind of colour - bright and pretty enough to look at but not too offensive for work or college.

OPI Charged up Cherry - I never survive the week with this on my nails except in the summer when brighter shades are more 'acceptable'. Like most OPI polishes, it is a dream to work with and looks like the nail version of MAC's Impassioned, a mixture of reds and pinks.

Technic Rainbow - This amazing dupe of OPI's version clearly needs no introduction. Its so easy to work with considering its thick consistency of glitter and I think looks prettier than the original. At about two euro a bottle, its the perfect accent nail colour. I got mine from Amazon and am about to order another bottle, as it this one depletes rapidly if you use it on every nail.

Any nail polish combinations I have to give a go?

Somewhat Sixties

I had a plan. A plan that I would get up early and transform myself into a nineteen sixties goddess (well, maybe minus the goddess part, but you get my meaning). Sixties lashes and backcombing brush in toe, I set to work. But sickness soon kicked in (of the sore throat, chest and ear variety) and all I wanted to do was curl up in my bed and eat pancakes.

So here, my friends, is a half-assed, unfinished attempt at something a bit sixties. Bed beckoned so I decided to smoke it up a bit rather than spend time finishing it - the only real 'sixties' feature being the nude waterline liner; because white = tippex, and massive lashes.

MUFE HD Foundation

MAC Harmony Blush

Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer

MAC Omega and Smut in crease

MAC Typographic as liner

Benefit They're Real Mascara

MAC Shy Girl lipstick

Being that the 1960's is my favourite makeup era, with the forties in close second, I will do a proper sixties inspired look when I feel up to it. I may even do a little series of the different eras and show a moden take on them. Good idea, yes? Until I will leave you with one of my favourite looks from my portfolio, modelled by the lovely Orla.

I'm a sucker to hype, I like to think I can rise above it and refrain from buying the newest wonder product, but in reality I can't. I squeal with excitement when someone raves about a beauty item and make a mental note that I need it in my life. Sometimes I am disappointed and others the raving was all worth it.

The lovely Anna has been the main advocate of Jemma Kidd's Dewy Glow All Over Radiance Cream, and her constant ravings had me sick with jealousy. So about a month ago, I sneaked onto the Jemma Kidd site and made a cheeky purchase. And it doesn't disappoint. Not only is it beautiful to stare at in its lovely case, but it creates a lovely, fresh sheen on the skin - without the glitter; because lets face it, when people pop a shimmery mess on the tops of their cheekbones we all die inside.

A little goes a long way with this product, I apply with a small blending brush, or with fingers to the tops of my cheekbones, down the centre of my nose and on top of my cupids bow, and then gently buff the edges with my foundation brush. Its not over-powering at all, but add extra and its perfect for night time aswell.

Have you tried this, or any other Jemma Kidd product? What did you think?

On Tuesday, I was lucky enough to be invited to the Benefit/Diet Coke collaboration event. Not only was there yummy food, Diet Coke galore and other lovely bloggers to chat to but the place was a makeup haven for all those obsessed. I was so happy to finally meet Sian, who is as stunning in person as she is in pictures, and so unbelievably nice. And the lovely Dee, who I bumped into while hiding out in the bathrooms before I went in too early!

We were shown the three looks of the Diet Coke girls: Romance, Fashionista and Rock Chick. Each look coincides with a Limited Edition Diet Coke can, where you can find a code under the pull ring. Pop it on cokezone.ie ad every half an hour one person will win a box of goodies like the one I received above. Niiice!

It was really lovely to see a few of the girls and as someone who sometimes overlooks Benefit products, it was great to have a little play with a few of them. And they really do have a good few gems! I surprised myself by liking a few of the fragrances they had lying about, the packaging always seemed to put me off; but really want to buy Eva soon! Its delicious!

What are your favourite Benefit products that you think I should get on my next little shopping trip?

I have recently returned from a little trip to London over the weekend. Its my favourite city, with its mixture of historical buildings, masses of shops and quirky, hidden gems. I went over with Aoife for the weekend, and we spent our Saturday at IMATS. I was lucky enough to be given a press pass, meaning I didn't have to pay for a ticket and was invited to a little breakfast type-thing with other bloggers. Although I was quite the awkward turtle and shy, it was lovely to put names to faces and meet some of the bloggers whose blogs I've been reading for ages!

After meeting the other girls, myself and Aoife had a little wander around the tradeshow. Although we bought a few things, the queues (especially in MUFE, MAC and Illamasqua) were slightly off-putting; we loved seeing the amazing theatrical makeup that was being applied to models by different schools and brands. I really enjoyed the IMATS, but I'm not sure I would return if I had to buy a ticket, it would definitely be worth it if you were buying masses of stuff for a kit but if you just wanted a few things for yourself it could turn into quite an expensive day.

We also visited Buckingham Palace, wandered around Harrods (and felt like paupers), tackled Oxford and Bond Streets and went to Chicago. Our little adventure was interrupted by the snow arriving on Saturday and sadly our last day was spent in Stansted airport, paying our flight wouldn't be cancelled. After a twelve hour wait, many a Pret sandwich, multiple Hummingbird cupcakes, an hour stuck on the runway and a plane with a technical fault, we were home.

With my leftover sterling and with plenty of time to waste in the airport, I bought a few MAC goodies that I'd been lusting after for a while. After replacing my Harmony blush, I picked up Omega eyeshadow, What Comes Naturally lipliner and another 217 blender brush. Not much then! I really enjoyed our little trip to London and can't wait to go back soon.

A massive thank you to Make Up Artists Magazine for the press pass and the lovely people at Royal and Langnickel for the eco-brush set (review coming soon!).

I Want To Be A Lady

Feast your eyes on this beauty, my friends.

I made a list recently of things I want to buy over the next three years. Shallow and materialistic, yes. But there's nothing more satisfying than saving up for something expensive and having it in your possession for life. Well, maybe not life, but a good few years anyway - until something else becomes an obsession.

Miu Miu Lux Croco Print Purse in Nude

Miu Miu Vitello Lux Bag in Pale Grey

YSL Chyc Clutch in Nude

<strike>Biba Gold Cosmetic Bag</strike>

<strike>
</strike>

Now, I know this is a pretty long shot and the chances of ever owning all of these are pretty slim. But its nice to have something to aim for. The second I get my first paycheck of my hopefully amazingly paid job when college finishes, I'll be zipping on over to London to get my Louboutins.

As for the makeup bag, it has a bit of a back-story. Although a makeup obsessive, I have never really owned a make up bag - I store all my products in a massive tower and throw things in my bag as I go. This results in a build up of multiple lipsticks and forgetting exactly where I've placed my favourite items. After seeing my friend with this stunning makeup bag and pondering over its beauty, I decided place a little order on the House of Fraser site and eagerly awaited its arrival.

And here it is. Stunning as ever and just the right size to hold a mass amount of make up, while also fitting in my bag. Divine. It is gold, which I know may put some people off (I was a bit sceptical at first), but its quite a classy colour and the inside is lined with a velvet-type flower design. I got it in the sale for £44/€50, and although that seems bloomin' expensive for a makeup bag - I am in love and feel like such a little lady. Plus, I'll have it for years...right?

Do you have a list of the ultimate items you want to buy?

♥

Snapped a few pictures before I went out with a few college friends. I've become quite the recluse in the last year or so; people genuinely find it weird that I like my own company and don't want to go out all the time. I wonder if its a blogging thing, I much prefer to spend my nights curled up perving on my favourite blogs, waking up hangover free and starting my mornings early. Such a little bore, really.

This style of eye make up is probably my favourite, having a barely visible lid I like to 'create' a crease and make them look a bit bigger. I wouldn't quite call it sixties inspired, but its along those lines. I'm also aware that that last photo isn't the most flattering, but with so little time to get ready and go it was the only one where my eyes were actually open and I didn't have a scowl on my face. Le sigh.

I'm off to IMATS in London next weekend and am so pathetically excited! I've never been, and have no idea what there is to buy (please tell me, need to budget how much I need for make up!) and what brands go there. I'll be there on the Saturday, will I be seeing any of you there? If so, please say hi. Really, I'm quite shy when I don't know people so if you see two blonde girls roaming around, its more than likely me!

The regular flat foundation brush has become something of a distant memory over the past few months. The heavy layer it applies to the skin has lost favour among so many of us in favour of stippling brushes, which create a more sheer yet flawless face. Being the obsessive I am, I own many a stippling (or duo-fibre) brush, and am a huge fan of most. But I think I've finally found 'the ultimate', in the form of MAC's 188. Having initially rejected the MAC 187 because of its crazy-high price, I opted for the Inglot 27TG (which is the perfect dupe, at a much more affordable sum) a few months ago. It was only when I bought this new mini version, for €40 no less (I know, I nearly choked in the poor MUA's face), that I realised how much better its control is.

While the large version helps to create a flawless base, it 'splays' out due to its large size meaning that the coverage isn't as concentrated. With the MAC 188, however, its smaller density means that it buffs the product into the skin giving lovely coverage and can also be used to apply other products. Because of its duo fibres, it can be used with fluid, cream, pigment or powder consistencies; making it perfect for cream blush and highlight (of which I will rant about in a future post, have found the perfect one!). While the price of this brush is slightly off-putting, if you're someone who likes a brush that's versatile and can be used for a different number of things - its perfect. Don't think I'll stray from this beaut and it will definitely mean a lighter make up bag for travelling!

Have you tried either the MAC 187 or 188? Which was your favourite?

Some would say the constant application of this make up look means that I'm stuck in a 'makeup rut', and if this is the case, I'll take it. Only after uploading this video did I realise that some of my favourite shadows were being neglected.

I’m not a big fan of the ‘au natural’ look, and to be honest,
this is probably as natural as you’ll ever see me – black gel liner and neutral
eyes. While I know this may not be others version of natural, it works for me. I
couldn’t imagine a day where I didn’t whack on liner or blend a few shadows
into my socket. These are my favourite go-to products, and always seem to work a charm. And so, this is the look I’ve been wearing non-stop for the
past few days; its simple, its quick and it is defined without being too
offensive.

Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Foundation - I usually team this up with Chanel Pro Lumiere and plly it just to the cheeks and where I need more coverage. While it is expensive (in the £50/€60 range), it really is a must for those with dry skin - providing good coverage while also keeping the face hydrated throughout the day.

MAC Harmony and Melba Blush - Harmony, for me, is the ultimate contour powder and can't see myself straying anytime soon (though Chanel Bronze Universal is on my list), its dark enough to create zee perfect cheekbones, but not in-yer-face bronzer. Melba is the perfect peach blush, adding a pretty flush to the cheeks in a natural way.

MAC Painterly Paintpot - I have a good few of the paintpots but always come back to Painterly and its the only one I would repurchase. It acts to keep shadow on all day, is a lovely consistency and helps to bring out the colours of the shadows - a must have for nights out and long days.

MAC Naked Lunch, All that Glitters, Twinks Eyeshadow - These are my three first MAC shadows and as I used and bought more, I found the hype around them a bit dramatic. Its only when I went back to use them again that I realised how amazing they are - perfect for a pretty everyday look!

MAC Hue Lipstick - The perfect nude for so many skintones, with a slight pink as there's nothing worse than cakey looking concealer lipstick. It works well with and without a tan and creates a lovely healthy sheen to the lips. Must replace soon. Or die.

Maybelline Gel Liner in Black - Again, I've used so man different gel liners and strangely the cheapest has become my favourite. Its creamy consistency makes it easy to apply, it lasts all day and doesn't have a masive price tag. Win.

When I read Aoife's version of this post, I was unexpectantly blown away by it. I've always been quite the lover of writing lists so when I saw this I knew I had to give it a go. She did it because she wanted to experience new things, and it made me realise how much I want to do over the next few years aswell.

I've always been quite ambitious; I like to set goals for myself and achieve them. College bores me, and I can't wait to be finished so I can finally 'make' something of myself. So instead of just writing this in my lists book, I thought that writing them on my blog would give me the push and motivate me to reach some of them.

Some of the goals seem unrealistic, even to me; but that is exactly why I've decided to add them to my list - try to achieve everything, without any limits. I will try to regularly update this post, once a goal has been completed, and hopefully that will encourage me to keep up with it.

Blogging has been responsible for many things in my life: a larger make up collection, a new appreciation for all things skincare, meeting lovely people and most importantly, a quickly deprecating bank account. While I started off this blog purely obsessed with make up and skincare, these have since taken the form of clothes, shoes, bags; and most recently jewellery.

This 'phase' has lasted about two years and doesn't seem to want to relent anytime soon . And that's okay, because I quite like it. Over the past year, Ebay has been my go-to stop for jewellery (mainly earrings and rings) more than anywhere else. While some of my friends crave expensive Tiffany's bracelets and Michael Kors watches, I am far more content having a quick search on ebay for something cheap and a bit quirky.

There are downsides to this though:
1) Everything seems so cheap that its impossible to limit yourself to just one. Hence why my account now reads: €3.23 available funds
2) Some friends love them so much, they 'borrow' one - never to be seen again

Embarrassingly, these are not all the rings in my possession. I have probably double, maybe triple this and a few more on the way. Obsession? Yes, but it doesn't hurt anyone. My little dilemma is storage; at present my lovely rings and earrings lie in a box on my bedroom floor. If you have any ideas of storage to display them, I would be forever in your debt. And if you know any ebay stores with jewellery I must have, also let me know. Kay, gotta go - yet more rings have distracted me!

PS: Only realised I have a swatch of MAC Coffee Liner on my hand. Annoying me no end.

Pin Up make up has really been done to death, so much so that even the kiddies are running around with their uneven flicks and tacky red lipstick. But there is nothing more stunning than when someone gets it right, plus its the only time overlining your lips to that extent is reasonably acceptable. I was on a walk yesterday when I came across the most beautiful girl sitting at a bus stop with the most perfect pin up make up I had ever seen.

So, like the original person I am; I decided to play with my face today, which is just as well considering I have a chronic migraine and can do little else. The forties/fifties was one of my favourite periods while I did my make up course, but not something you wear everyday; so it was nice to break away from the trusty smokey eye and do something a bit different. Love how massive my lips look, makes me consider having lip fillers more seriously. I kid. Kind of.

My 'spending ban' hasn't quite been successful this side of the New Year. Heck, who am I kidding? It has never been successful; I just spent the last hour ordering jewellery from ebay shops and lusting after all manner of things that I can't afford and don't need. We live and learn, eventually.

While I avoided complete bankruptcy during the January sales this year, my few purchases have made a large dent in my bank account. Whoops. And one of the main reasons for this is my new favourite thing, the Clarisonic Mia. I'm sure you're all a bit sick of hearing raves about Clarisonic's, so I will keep it short and sweet until I've used it enough to review it. After pondering for months over whether getting a Clarisonic Mia would be worth it, this skincare obsessive bit the bullet, clicked the 'buy' button on Amazon and waited with bated breath until it was firmly placed in my possession. This 'electric toothbrush for your face' (attractive, right) has fibres brushes that vibrate at over three hundred movements per second, cleaning your face up to six times better than your fair hands can. While I have only used it for about a week, I am already in love and pathetically wait for an acceptable time at night until I can use it. Keep your eyes peeled for a review over the next few months!

My lovely sister, Kait, is home from Canada for the holidays, and took a little trip up to Belfast for a bit of retail therapy; only to arrive home with a little present for me. Bless. While I'm usually not into the whole 'designer hair accessories' malarky, these black pyramid elastics are a really nice idea for updo's with a bit of 'umph'. While they are quite plain, they add a pretty feature to something you wouldn't usually bother with. At £8 they are fairly expensive for hair ties, but seeing as they were half price (£4) and a gift from my sister, I'll let it slide. Of course!

And finally, my parents kindly gave me a bottle of YSL's Belle D'Opium for Christmas as a replacement for the one I am just about to finish. I've never loved a perfume more and am obsessed with this spicy scent of Jasmine, Casablanca Lily, Sandalwood, White Pepper and Gardenia. This list means nothing to me, it just smells amazing. However, I'm looking for another perfume to lust over for a while; a bit of a change up. Please leave your favourites and suggestions below, I will probably buy all of them!

If you're interested in seeing what I bought in the January sales/ as Christmas presents:

Happy New Year everyone! As I mentioned in my last post, I've been majorly slacking on the blogging and Youtube front for the past few weeks. Excuses aside, I thought I'd try to get into the swing of things again by whacking up a face of the day. And it features teal blue of all colours. Blue.

At the Irish bloggers meet up, we were lucky enough to be given a few goodies from Inglot. I received the most intense turquoise pigment, and while at first I groaned at such a bring colour; I love it now. I've worn it a few times since then, and am shocked at my new love of colour. Times are changing. I really love Inglot colour products, like their eyeshadows, liners, lipsticks and nail varnishes - they're excellent quality and really affordable.

I resisted the urge to write a post on New Years this year, purely because there were so many floating around my timeline and I didn't have much to say about it. I'm not a big fan of the cringy countdown and I never make resolutions. But this year I've decided to make two:

Only bother with the things and people who matter

Try to make this blog the best it can be

Which brings me onto a little thank you speech that so many make around this time of year. Again, cringe. But thank you to anyone who reads, glances over or bothers with this blog or my Youtube channel, it really does mean a lot to me. It really has grown over the last year and its all thanks to all of you. So thank you. And end.

fireplace with lights, myself and my lovely friend Jane at a Christmas party, dinner candle, my dog sleeping, myself and my sister Kait at dinner, Dogeared Karma necklace, Christmas salmon starter, myself and Kait on Stephens Day, the cousins.

I've not been the best blogger over the last few weeks. Christmas exams, essays, work, family and general seeing friends has left little time to do anything. But I'm back and I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I was working almost everyday up to it after my exams, so lost the festive spirit somewhat; but there's nothing better than spending time with friends and family.

I received lovely presents this year and was thinking I might do a post, but on the other hand don't want it to turn into something that can be construed as bragging. Let me know what you think, I personally love seeing what people got for ideas and general jealousy!

The January sales have started almost everywhere, and to be honest, I'm not bothered. While there are some bargains out there, the idea that the items on sale are the rejects always sticks in my mind. Apart from All Saints (which I have already attacked and ordered a few things), I don't really have the urge to try anywhere. I can't afford it at full price and am in love with everything from there, so happy days!

PS: I have the winners of my Christmas giveaway to announce; with work, college and exams I didn't have time to sort out the entries. But here they are: (28/263) Margaret, (69/263) Pink Pom Poms, and (51/263) Hayley (please mail me, I can't find yours on your profile anywhere), all of whom I have already contacted.

Morange. Bright Orange. Dad flinched when he saw. Work will not appreciate. But I heart.

Deeply.

MAC Morange is a lipstick that requires its owner to remain brave for the day. I thought I got weird looks with Vegas Volt, but Morange puts this self-consciousness to a new height. That's its beauty, I think. While its more for Summer nights, it works well in Winter too, and its Amplified formula means that it will last all day and isn't drying.

I can usually avoid being lured product raves, I'm so good at it. But I failed miserably when I watched this video. Tara is someone who I can't resist when it comes to describing products, she makes me want to buy everything. So the second I watched this video, I zipped out to my nearest Thomas Sabo and bought this beauty. Self Christmas gifting. Its sleek, classic and not gaudy, with the option of adding three charms to it. I'm not sure I will, as I hate charm bracelets, but its nice on its own too. Plus, the packaging is to die for!

PS. Got my hair cut and coloured yesterday. And its very blonde, which I like. But its in that puffy, 'you just washed me' earlier stage, and so was cut from the photo. There's always another day..

Christmas is fast approaching, and what better way to say thank you for all the support than offering up free goodies? Christmas is my favourite time of year and as I was buying all my presents, I decided to throw in a few things for a few of you.

There will be three prizes in all, as another small gift should be arriving in the next few days. If not, I'll throw in something else. As I have only had one prize in my previous giveaway, I thought it would be nice to have a few winners in this. More prizes = More happy people.

Up for grabs are The Soap and Glory You Cube containing The Righteous Butter Body Butter, Flake Away Body Polish, Clean On Me Shower Gel, Hand Food Hand Cream and a fluffy super sudsy puff. And the Umberto Giannini Beauty Secrets Hair Beautifying Essentials containing Pure Beauty Shampoo, Intense Beauty Conditioner, Catwalk Beauty Hairspray and Overnight Beauty Moisture Balm.
Just a quick update to say that the third prize of the giveaway has arrived. And they are lush. There are two types: Radiant (cassis mixed with wild raspberries and woody notes) and Bright (a soft layer of white flowers such as jasmine and rich rose). Because of this new prize, the giveaway is extended to December 19th at midnight!

Originality is key. Sadly, I have failed to have any with the naming of this post. Around this time of year everyone has a 'winter berry' post, don't they? Well if you can't beat 'em, join 'em I suppose. Essay writing has been top of my agenda for the last few weeks, but today I rebelled. Playing with my face seemed more important. Obvzz. Plus its got so cold and wintery recently that I couldn't resist the warm browns and coppers of my neutral palettes.

Instead of taking it all off and filming (which is what I should have done in the first play, sorry!) a tutorial, I thought it would be easier to do a step-by-step tutorial from the comfort of my bed.

Step One: Prime eyes with eye primer, I used MAC Painterly Paintpot. And then use a matte cream eyeshadow all over the lid and up to the brow bone (Inglot 363/MAC Brule).

Step Two: Then taking a shimmery copper colour, use a small blending brush to run it through the crease of the eye. I used MAC Antiqued and Bronze with a MAC 217, as it fits perfectly in the socket while also blending. Then I took a larger blending brush like MAC's 224 and blended out the edges, to avoid any harsh lines.

Step Three: I then applied a matte brown/purple colour, to the crease and outer corner (Inglot 326) with my MAC 217 and blended again. Taking a gel liner and an angled brush, line the eyes and create a flick by drawing the liner out and up. Its easier to look down into a mirror while doing this as it creates a straighter line. And then apply lashings of mascara, of which I whacked on Benefit They're Real.

Step Four: For the lips, I used a berry red colour from Avon called Temptress.

Step Five: If all else fails and this step-by-step is too complicated to follow (Y U NO IN VIDEO FORM?), this is a tutorial I did and uses the exact same steps as the eyes for this post. Just change the eyeshadows to warmer tones.

Simples.

Lasting Impressions: Eyes

Eyes are the windows to the soul, right? That embarrassing phrase aside, eyes really are the most appealing and 'captivating' (larf.) element of your face, unless you have whopper lips á la Lana Del Rey or Angelina Jolie. Most probably, you don't; so we all have to work with what we have, leaving us with the eyes. After the response I got from this post, I thought I would continue on with this little series of how to keep your make up on longer.

Eyes

Step 1: Applying an eye primer is crucial before shadow if you want your eyes to look perfect day and night. Not only does it act as a base for eyeshadow, deepening the intensity of the colour but it ensures that your make up is crease-free for hours. They usually dry quickly, so if you are aiming for something with a deep colour (eg. MAC Indianwood), make sure you apply and blend as quickly as possible. Top picks: MAC Painterly Paintpot or any other MAC Paintpot, Urban Decay Primer Potion and Too Faced Shadow Insurance.

Step 2: Make sure when choosing eyeshadows that you check the pigmentation - there is nothing more annoying than buying a shadow or palette, sweeping it across your peepers and it looking bleugh, not like the colour in the pan. Make up, will of course fade slightly after a few hours, so by buying shadows with high pigmentation, the colours will stay bright longer, keeping their intensity. Best picks: Inglot, MAC and Barry M Dazzledusts.

Step 3: While eyeliner pencils are intense when first applied, they can fade and smudge throughout the day. For added longevity, use a gel or cake liner which will last must longer and keep its intensity. Make sure to keep the lids closed tightly in between and after uses as they tend to try out when exposed to the air. Inlot Duraline is a perfect product for when liners dry up, one pump of the liquid product and they become creamy again, perfect if you're expensive liner has died on you! Top choices: Maybeline Gel Liner, Inglot Liner, MAC Blacktrack and Bobbi Brown Gel Liners.

Step 4: There is nothing more annoying than when mascara runs, flakes or smudges. While the tube won't last as long as normal ones, waterproof mascaras are the best for keeping your eyes looking fresh all day. Best picks: Benefit They're Real (not waterproof, but as good as), Clinique High Impact and Eyeko Big Eyes Mascara.

'Tis (nearly) the Season...

You know those immensely tacky chunky glitter heels everyone has been guiltily lusting after for the Christmas period? This make up look reminds me of them. So bad, but so so good. Glitter on the face is usually not a good combination (glitter pens from your childhood, anyone?) but strangely I found myself deeply attracted to those decidedly tacky shoes. I know, I would never wear them if I did fork out the cash to have them in my possession. But still. So €15 for the Inglot Body Sparkles in no. 59 was my version of a compromise.

I'm trying my best to avoid early Christmas cheer this year - which will no doubt result in burn out. Christmas is my favourite time of year, but I get very narky when people ruin it by starting it all too early. Scrooge I shall be for the next two days, dammit. However, I believe I have already failed with the uploading of this post. Not only am I wearing the ultimate Christmas cardi (Penneys, don't you know) but the make up is quite obviously perfect for the 'party season'. And tack aside, I will be wearing it this year. Roll on December 1st.

(PS: I'm not even going out tonight. College work has made sure of it, but I decided to delay work by applying a tonne of make up to my face. Procrastination is key. I am currently sitting in my pjs with my full face of makeup on reading about gender roles on the stage. Delish.)

94% saw dramatic length & volume. 90% saw base-to-tip curl. 94% saw visible lift. 100% saw long-wearing results. Big claims, eh?

Benefit They're Real has been doing the beauty blogging rounds for quite a while. And first off, I bought it myself, I wasn't sent it. I'm not one to give into the hype of most products, because let's face it so many people big up products when they get them free whether intentionally or not.

I'm not a big mascara person, I always forget to put it on after doing my eye makeup and when I do, obviously my blonde lashes are turned black, but as for added length, volume and width? Meh. Its all the same, right? What I'm saying is that I don't place too much emphasis on mascaras, usually buying highstreet brands because they are cheap and do the job nicely.

So to walk into Benefit and fork out €24.50 on a mascara, when I have so many in my collection was a bit crazy. Now that price for a mascara is a bit ridiculous, especially since the dollar equivalent is $22. Lies, little Rip-Off Republic. But I went with it. And I'm so glad I did. The second I put it on, I was stopped by two girls to ask if I had fake lashes on. Nope. So far, so good. Throughout the rest of the day I got the same thing.

Left: Benefit They're Real Right: Nada

So does it work? Yes, yes it does. The formula, together with the patented brush is able to wiggle between each lash, coating it with product that claims to 'lengthen, curl, volumise, lifts and separate'. No small claim, eh? And usually I'd scoff at such over-the-top advertising. But this time Benefit may just be telling the truth. Since making it my everyday mascara, my friends, family and hell, even randomers have asked whether I'm wearing falsies. They're real, ladies, they are fecking real. And I bloody love them.

So would I buy this again? Yes, most probably. It is expensive and the packaging is a bit tack; but it works. Never have my lashes felt so adored. It is a bit of a nuisance to get off though, so eye makeup remover is a must. But hey, at least that means it stays on, right?

One of the most annoying things after spending precious time perfecting the make up you apply on your face, is when after less than a few hours it has faded to something less than perfect and you end up looking a bit 'bleurgh'. And, as much as we argue; none of us want to spend ages topping up make up. We love it, but not that much. I was going to have this as one large post, but I think I'll have it in a few stages, a series if you will, so will be doing lips and eyes next if people are interested.

Face

Step 1: One of the most important things to do before whacking on a foundation is applying a base, namely a primer. While these are branded by many different companies, with varying prices, they really help to create a base for make up to cling to, meaning your face looks fresher for longer. Make sure you get one suitable for our skintype, if you have dry skin opt for a luminating or hydrating one to keep dry patches at bay, whereas if you have oily skin choose a matifying one, which will keep your skin oil-free while holding your make up in place. Top picks include Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer with SPF 15 and Gosh Velvet Touch Primer.

Step 2: The next thing that will help your make up last longer is to choose the correct foundation for your skintype, because let's face it, if you whack on a foundation for oily skin on your very dry complexion; you will look ridiculous. And it won't last. Instead, go to your counter of choice - depending on your budget, and allow them to chose a foundation suitable for your skin. Some of the best long-lasting foundations include MUFE Mat Velvet, YSL Teint Resist, Estee Lauder Double Wear and Benefit Playsticks.

Step 3: For concealers, its best to steer clear of overly creamy formulas. unless you have very dry skin, as they will crease. Opt for a stick concealer or liquid. Top picks include Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer and MAC Longwear Concealer.

Step 4: If you want your blush to last longer, apply a small amount of cream blush to the cheeks after foundation. Then sweep a powder blush on top, which will help to 'set' the cream product, making the product last longer. This is the same for highlighters, something liquid like Benefit's High Beam will last through the day, using sparingly though!

Step 5: The final, and almost most important step, is to apply powder over your finished make up. While translucent is preferable as its small particles set it brilliantly, pressed powder works too. Using a flat brush (not a large, round powder one, as this will sweep your make up off), 'press' the product onto the face, which will matify the skin and will present any foundation from smearing off throughout the day. If you have oily skin, you may want to carry around a small pressed powder to top up during the day.

Many a time I have ranted about how vile I find the MAC foundations. Then I relented slightly when I found Face and Body. That was different, it wasn't really a foundation. Kay? When I recently went into MAC to buy foundations for my kit, I was set on Full Coverage. But the lovely MAC MUA completely advised against it and instead recommended I opt for Studio Fix Fluid as it creates flawless skin with enough coverage and can look dewy too.

Now, I have had this foundation before. And hated it. Maybe it was because it was throughout the Summer months where being caked was unnecessary, maybe because I got matched to the complete wrong colour and didn't have the knowledge to recognise it (NW20, howiya?!). But this time I trusted her advice, because sometimes you get a make up artist who tells you the truth. And she was right.

I really am not one for the full coverage look - I left that behind in my teens. I like dewy, fresh looking skin; but in the Winter months Face and Body just doesn't cut it. A Noddy nose and cheeks is somewhat unattractive so a heavier coverage is essential. After I bought four bottles for my kit (still have a few more to buy, depressing), I decided to have a go of my 'real' colour (NC15, for those wondering). Just because. I applied with a stippling brush, as it provides enough coverage without looking too full-on.

And now, I eat my words. Who knows how long I will like this foundation. Who knows how long it will keep me happy. But it lasts all day, isn't too matte, and most importantly removes any traces of my sensitive (read: red) Irish skin. Sorry MAC, probably should have given you more of a chance!

(Now, I won't lie to you, having dry skin means this foundation does show up a few dry patches up close. But not enough to notice when in public, and anyone who is that close hopefully love me enough to still think I look alright. Hopefully ;)

My Sister once bought me a Victoria Beckham body lotion. I have no idea why, really. I hate Victoria Beckham, and the scent was more than atrocious. Soz Kait. And it probably cost her a lot more than buying a 'highstreet' brand. I guess beauty products are something you want to spend money on, but body lotion? Stick to the highstreet.

I thought Vaseline Essentials would mean their lipblam, but what do you know? They've branched out into body lotion. This probably isn't a new phenomenon, and they've probably had them out for a while now. But I'm a bit slow with these things and never noticed. I wish I had now.

While getting an expensive body lotion to go with your perfume is fine and dandy, I always think they are just too expensive to justify. And er, don't work. I could go on about the Stratys 3 sciency bit, that claims to work in three stages of deep-moisturation to adapt to all skin types, but what's the point? The main thing we need to establish is if they work.

And they do. There are three body lotions in this range: Aloe Fresh (light feeling lotion), Essential Moisture (clean feeling lotion) and Cocoa Radiant (rich feeling radiant). Now while I haven't a clue what 'clean feeling lotion' means, all of the lotions in this range do exactly what they say on the tin. Aloe Fresh is the lightest lotion of the trio, that smells like cucumber and would be perfect in the Summer after being in the sun for ages. Cocoa Radiant is the richest of the three, and is a much thicker consistency than Aloe Fresh. It smells like chocolate and coconut and, again, keeps skin moisturised. This is more of a Winter lotion because of its consistency and if you're a chocolate lover is perfect. Essential Moisture is my favourite of the three, is in between the light and rich consistency and smells like mango. Need I say more?

So take my advice, head for the beauty aisle in your local supermarket and snap one of these three up. Cheap, cheerful and does the exact same job as its expensive counterparts.
