Happy (Belated) 70th Birthday Mr Lennon

On the 9th of October John Lennon would of celebrated his 70th birthday.
Whilst Beatles fans, media outlets and Google celebrated by having tributes to the man, PBS' American Masters showed their documentary LennoNYC in Central Park.
Alas that is about a million miles away from my house.
(well more like 30000 kms)
Hopefully the good people at PBS will some how find a nice Australian free to air tv channel to show it on, as the podcasts have got me totally interested.
Seriously.

What's the problem with the wii?

Ok I don't quite understand all the hate aimed towards the nintendo wii.
It's a family gaming unit. It has never tried to make itself out to be a PS3 or xbox360 and hasn't tried to.
And whilst all the gaming hardcore wipe their cheezel crumbs of their shirts, I assume (like me) you got into gaming by playing the SNES and game like mario kart and sonic the hedgehog.
WHY MUST TODAYS KIDS MISS OUT ON THESE?

The wii fit weightloss dream or plain useless?

So I got a wii fit plus for Christmas last year excited that I had another tool to help me lose weight I eargley began to use it.
And now six months later I'm perplexed. Whilst it has helped with my weight loss I have a couple of issues with it.
Like how come there's only 2 levels of difficulty for somethings and 3 for others?
Why wasn't the seasonal banter from the wii fit board in the game changed for southern hemisphere users?
It's annoying to listen to it whinge about it being cold when it's 35 degrees outside.
Also why is the colour changing of the fitpiggy set at such low levels? Whilst its a small incentive to continue playing in retrospect, I always got a little excited and when I hit gold at such an small amount I felt a little cheated

All in all it's a game that helps with exercise but needs a bit more attention

Now on to discuss some somewhat craziness of the world.
I remember when I was 14 and watching M*A*S*H and being quite sure that Frank Burns was a twat and people like him shouild be avoided.
Well it seems we are begining to have a world full of Frank Burns, ignorant, nasty people who have no clue.

Another piece of craziness for me is Taiwan building a nuclear reactor along a major fault line and earth quake prone place. Named Lungmen, it will be Taiwans 4th nuclear reactor.

Last piece of crazy for today
A report on ABC America about the oil spill in the gulf. Towards the end of the report a soldier (american equvilant to a reservist) said that the oil was a difficult enemy because "they couldn't bomb it or invade it, they just had to wait til it attacked"
WTF!?

Gah! Neighbours

I think I’ve mentioned this before. I live on the 1st floor of a 3 story unit block. It’s small, and lacks any sound proofing so when the neighbours upstairs decide to party til 3am or play soccer it makes life help.
Yes I know this bitchy and whinging but I don’t care.
It’s major essay time at uni and with all the other crap that’s going on I’m finding it hard to concentrate as it is WITHOUT listening to a bunch of idiots playing the same song over and over again from 8pm til 3am.
I dunno maybe at the old age of 23 I can’t be bothered with bullshit.
It’s only one unit that makes all the noise and the landlord won’t do anything about it and I feel like a dick calling the cops.
What are ya supposed to do?
I’m guessing wearing ear plugs to bed is the only solution.

So I spend a lot of time in hospitals.
Both here and in Victoria, and when Kevin Rudd announced his new plan for hospitals I got excited.
Why?
Coz maybe when I visit a specialist at the Royal Hobart Hospital here in Tasmania where the population is around 500 thousand I won't have to wait 2 and a half hours in a half empty waiting room to see the specialist for 5 minutes.
and the possibility of finally FINALLY getting some of the specialists this state needs.
As far as emergency response is here, it's pretty good, not fantastic but you know you will be seen in about 90 minutes and that's pretty good.
but we desperately need specialists!
I personally have to go to Melbourne on average once a month to see a urogynaecologist. The usual wait to see my specialist is 20 minutes and the wait room is ALWAYS full and I don't feel that I'm being rushed at all (yes this is at a public hospital).
I decided to email Lara Giddings (Tasmania's health minister) to inquire into why we don't have a urogynae here I didn't get answer.
Well I did but it was the usual political shit spinning which didn't give a reason but said people could see a gynaecologist
THEY'RE NOT THE SAME SPECIALIST PEOPLE!
one deals primarily with the girly bits
the other deals with what happens when the bladder decides to have issues and brings the girly bits with it.
I'm sorry but how does such a bunch of incompetents get to be in charge?
I mean really?
HERE'S AN IDEA; HOW ABOUT AFTER THE NEXT ELECTION WE GET SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY HAS SOME EXPERIENCE IN THE HEALTH PROFESSION ACTUALLY IN CHARGE OF THE HEALTH PORTFOLIO!

and in an effort to be more adventurous and outgoing I'm entering the Fruits Fashion beginners contest.
I know I will fail epically, but hey! You don't know if you don't try and I'm sure it's going to be fun anyway.
I've got most of my outfit together but I have to make some sleeves.
I'm not good at sewing so this should be interesting to say the least.

I don't want live with a guy I don't know!

So I live in a apartment which is owned by the student union. When they asked me if I had any preferences for who I wish to share with I said females only.
I have my reasons.
I don't want to share them.
Today I get a phone call asking if I was comfortable living with a guy and I said no.
They said if he wants to live there that they can't stop him from signing the lease.
WTF?!?
how is that fair?
I know that there's heaps of empty rooms with the union atm because their prices are too high and majority of students have preplanned to get a private rental with friends.

So what can I do now?
I guess I have to wait til sunday when I get home to find out if I have to share with a guy ._.

The plane of the eternal nightmares

So I fly a lot.
like once a month thanks to having to see specialists in another state.
So I'm kinda used to delays etc, but last night was not fun.
Last night after having a long day of being poked and probed I get to the QANTAS terminal.
One of the security screening machines brakes down and what was already 4 incredibly long lines turn into 3 huge lines.
Finally get in and wait for my flight at the gate (always a good time to go sit and read for my course work) it's the only gate without air conditioning.
15 minutes before boarding and we get moved to another gate. so everyone gets and moves and sits down, everyone gets comfortable and waits. 10 minutes later, it's apparent that we aren't going to leave on time, one because there has been no calls to prepare for boarding and well one of the engines is being worked on.

another half an hour later we get moved to another gate WHICH IS ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE TERMINAL.
at this stage to say I wasn't happy is an understatement.
finally after trekking to the otherside of the terminal and another 30 minute wait we finally get on the plane.

I hate flying.

Why must you meddle when you don't actually know what things are about when you can't even control your own country.

The ad that the US believes to be racist has been taken out of context.
Anyone who has been to the West Indies they can tell you that Fried Chicken is like a HUGE thing over there, not a racial stereotype.
How about you guys stop bitching about what is happening in Australia and start looking at yourselves.
The constant shootings you would think prompt some sort of strengthening of gun laws BUT NO, if anything more guns flood on to the streets.

So just a tip; instead of complaining about ads THAT AREN'T EVEN SHOWN IN YOUR COUNTRY and start dealing with your own social problems

it is so hot here! 33 degrees (C) in a place where in winter it never gets warmer than 15 degrees (C) at the absolute limit.
Mainland Australia is worse, with South Australia and Victoria supposed to be having temperatures over 40 degrees (C) for the next couple of days.

And to think in the northern hemisphere they're having huge snow storms and some of the coldest temps seen.

I mean the biggest climate change skeptic has got to have some doubts in their stance now

Ugh I have about a gazillion bills pilling up, I'm not allowed to work because my surgeons don't know what they're doing next so I get the fun of hoping I can some how scrape the money together for it all.
This is really starting to piss me off
Centrelink gives a pitance, I assume to motivate you into working
but as I'm not allowed to work for medical reasons I get screwed over.
It's so freaking frustrating.
