TRADERS at the Puduraya Terminal are puzzled as to why their service charge has been increased by 500% after the renovation.
Puduraya Terminal Tenants and Traders Association chairman Sabarudin Ab Razak, 57, said they used to pay RM713 for rental and RM387.50 for service charge before the terminal was renovated.
“Now, the rental has been reduced to RM365 but the service charge increased to RM2,482,” said Sabarudin, who has been trading at the terminal for more than 30 years.

Sabarudin and three other committee members were present at the UDA Holdings Bhd office in Jalan Bukit Bintang, Kuala Lumpur, to voice their concerns to the management.
Abu Bakar Mohd Tap, 52, who has been running a photocopy shop there for about five years, said even though their rental was reduced, they were now paying much more to rent the units in Puduraya.
Sabarudin said the terminal was upgraded for the use of the public and should not be compared with a shopping complex.
“We don’t get the kind of volume that they do.
“There used to be bank and a post office in Puduraya which brought in more people. We hope the two businesses would operate again here,” he said.
Sabarudin said even though no decision was made, they were pleased with the outcome of the meeting because the management was willing to listen to them.
UDA Holdings Bhd declined to comment on the issue because the meeting was only a preliminary discussion with the traders.

Scooter - If you want a faster and more challenging way to travel is by buying a scooter. You can zip past the vehicle when there's traffic jam (which is a lot).

Eateries - Visiting other country would mean a whole lot different dish and drinks. Why be so stingy? Spend your money on never-heard-before dishes and you could ask for the recipe, adding to your menu at home. Try the fresh fruits if you come across some like durians and mangos teens. If you're looking for cheap food, go to China Town or South Indian restaurants.

Shopping - It's always fun to shop in Malaysia because there's always sales going around, from 10% to 80%. Try going to the huge shopping mall such as Suria KLCC and The Mall. There's always street stall to buy cheap and unique item, if you are budgeting. If you're looking for beer you could find it in the 7-11 shop which is open 24 hours.

Place to go: try Genting Highlands. There are tons of stores there, and awesome facilities plus hotels. Also try places with historical background, like Melaka. There are many historical buildings there.

Tips

Malaysian is friendly and nice to people always welcome to visitor from other country.

Before the trip

#Gather as much information as you can on the culture and peoples of the countries you will be visiting. Learn a few words and greetings in the local language. United Nations missions and embassies are a good resource for over 140 countries.

#Research whether there are any vaccinations you should get before visiting the region to which you are heading.

#Make "trail mix" packages of almonds, walnuts, goji berries , pumpkin seeds, apricot seeds, or whatever country trail mix you like. Stock up with enough to last throughout the trip.

#Pack an assortment of sizes of ziploc bags, drinking straws, and a pair of rubber slippers or thongs.

#Buy mosquito repellent, a good sunscreen, a wide brimmed panama hat (folded) to help to reduce the glare effects of the sun. A baseball hat or visor might get the job done, too, depending on where you're going and how strong the sun is.

*Drinking a lot of water (a must) means going to the bathroom regularly. Regarding field trips or safaris, trips outside of the capital city might take you to places where there usually is not the convenience of sanitary latrine facilities.

*Women should would never, ever wear pants, trousers or a jumpsuit on field visits. Wear a very wide skirt and take a lot of tissue paper in your handbag. There is a saying that there are four categories of latrine users – sitters, squatters, washers, and wipers. In the field and outdoors, squatting is the preferred method for women, hence the wide skirt.

*During your trip, have vitamin B1 300mg supplement and take two capsules daily. Mosquitoes hate the smell of it and will be a smaller issue. Citronella based lotions are also good to keep mosquitoes away.

One of the most interesting topics in world history is the Japanese history. as we all know, Japan has experienced years of isolation from the outside world but it did not prevent Japan from rising. Japanese history is rich in culture, events and it can be broken down into periods. There is more to the religious ceremonies, the temples, shrines and parks that you see in this country.
Japanese history began with the migration of humans form the Asian mainland. During the Jomon period, pottery in Japan began. It is also the period when people went out to hunt for food such as fish and meat. The next period in the Japanese history is the Yatoi period wherein rice was brought from Korean mainland. Political and social systems emerged during the Kofun period. Emergence of Buddhism also happened in this time and it influenced Japanese history. Buddhism also came to Japan from Korea. It has led to the widespread literacy because part of the Buddhism teachings is the familiarization of the Chinese classics.
Japanese history then experienced a period wherein clans were inferior because of the rising central government. This political system was based primarily on the Chinese style of ruling. Heian period came next and Kyoto was the imperial capital during that time. However, the Chinese style of political scheme has broken down and so aristocrats were the ones given power to rule some areas. This was the time in Japanese history wherein Minamoto Yoritomo was the shogun. He was busy establishing a capital somewhere else. He hired samurai warriors to protect him and his shogunate. If you want to have a view of the architectural structure built during his reign, you can go to Osaka and see the magnificent Osaka temple. In Japanese history, the isolation happened during the Edo period. Now, Edo is already Tokyo, which is the present capital of Japan. During this period, the merchants played a vital role. In 1868, Meiji restoration happened. It was in this period of the Japanese history when the samurais and shogunates were disbanded.
In addition, the Meiji emperors decided to step into modernization, which was a very significant event in Japanese history. The period next to that is the Taisho period. This was when the country felt an economic boost but after that, the militant period occurred. This was one of the most unforgettable events in Japanese history. Two atomic bombs were dropped in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Despite the bombings, Japan proved its strength and independence by building a modern culture. This is the period in Japanese history when industrialization was a priority. This has led to the success of Japan and it was recognized throughout the world. Infrastructures, mega-shopping complexes, and tourist spots covered Japan after the wars. Nowadays, tourist spots and buildings are established in Mei, Gifu, and in Nagoya. Shrines are evident in Nagano and in Hokkaido.
Japanese history would never be complete without the modernization and industrialization that happened. Today, it is a country known for its technological advancements and it is pioneer of machinery. Indeed, Japanese history is incomparable. These are just some of the reasons why Japanese history remains as one of the most interesting part in world history.

A strong aftershock ripped through northeastern Japan, killing two, injuring dozens and piling misery on a region still buried under the rubble of last month’s devastating tsunami.

The quake late Thursday was the strongest tremor since the March 11 jumbo and did some damage, but it did not generate a tsunami and appeared to have spared the area’s nuclear power plants. The Fukushima Dai-ichi complex — where workers have been frantically trying to cool overheated reactors since they lost cooling systems last month — reported no new abnormalities. Other facilities retained a connection to the grid or switched to diesel generators after the 7.1-magnitude quake knocked out power to much of the area.

While the city is far enough inland that it largely escaped tsunami damage, people there lived without regular services for weeks. Within an hour of Thursday’s quake, they rushed convenience stores and cleared shelves of ice, water and instant noodles — items that were in short supply after the bigger quake.

The operator of the tsunami-ravaged Fukushima Dai-ichi plant said there was no sign the aftershock had caused new problems there. Workers briefly retreated to a quake-resistant shelter in the complex and suffered no injuries.

After the March 11 quake knocked out power in the region, the wave flooded the plant’s diesel generators, leaving the complex without any electricity. Workers have been struggling to stem a tide of radiation since, using makeshift methods to pump cooling water into the reactors. That work continued uninterrupted after the latest quake, according to Japan’s Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency.

The temblor’s epicenter was in about the same location as the original 9.0-magnitude tremor, off the eastern coast and about 40 miles (65 kilometers) from Sendai, an industrial city on the eastern coast, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. It was strong enough to shake buildings for about a minute as far away as Tokyo, about 200 miles (330 kilometers) away.

At a Toyota dealership in Sendai, most of a two-story show window was shattered, and thick shards of glass were heaped in front of the building. Items fell off store shelves and a large automated teller machine crept across the floor at a FamilyMart convenience store.

Police directed cars through intersections throughout the city on Friday because traffic lights were out. Small electrical fires were reported.

Other facilities along the northeastern coast remained connected to a power source Friday, and the agency said they were all under control. Backup generators kicked in at two — Rokkasho and Higashidori.

At a third north of Sendai — which has been shut down since the tsunami — one of three power lines was supplying electricity, and radiation monitoring devices detected no abnormalities. The Onagawa power plant’s spent fuel pools briefly lost cooling capacity, but it resumed because a power line was available for electricity.

“It’s the way it’s supposed to work if power is lost for any reason,’’ said David Lochbaum, director of the nuclear safety project for the U.S.-based Union of Concerned Scientists.

Many people in the area have lived without water and electricity for nearly a month, and the latest tremor sunk more homes into blackness: In total, around 3.6 million households — about 60 percent of residents in the area — were dark Friday, said Souta Nozu, a spokesman for Tohoku Electric Power Co., which serves northern Japan.

Five conventional plants in the area were out, and it was not clear when power would be restored, he said.

Matsuko Ito, who has been living in a shelter in the small northeastern city of Natori since the tsunami, said there’s no getting used to the terror of being awoken by shaking.

“I was almost as scared as much as last time,’’ said the 64-year-old while smoking a cigarette outside. “It’s enough.’’

She said she started screaming when the quake struck around 11:30 p.m.

“Something has changed,’’ she said. “The world feels strange now. Even the way the clouds move isn’t right.’’

Thursday’s quake initiated a tsunami warning of its own, but it was later canceled. Two people were killed, fire department spokesman Junichi Sawada reported Friday. A 79-year-old man died of shock and a woman in her 60s was killed when power was cut to her oxygen tank. More than 130 people were injured, according to the national police agency.

For Chinese this year is the year of Rabbit. In China Chinese New Year known as "Spring Festival" It’s starts with the New Moon on the First day and will end on the full moon 15 days.

Before a week to Chinese New Year day, we start preparing New Year decoration at our house. An annual house cleaning must do before The Spring Festival arrived. Family member busy to sweeping and vacuum every corner of the group. A little decoration must do so, spring couplets and the words of spring put on the wall at our living room. These couplets, short poems written in Classical Chinese, were expressions of good wishes for the family in the coming year.

New Year Eve

For New Year Eve the family member from near or far must came back get together for celebration the reunion dinner. Chicken and fish must include for the Eve dinner according to the old Chinese traditionally. We having steamboat dinner that night still got fish and chicken, for me easy way to cook and my family member like to eat. After having the Eve dinner we go to pray at “Guan Yin” Temple at Jalan Ipoh Kuala Lumpur where near by my house.

First Day of the New Year

Usually family members gather on the morning for the first day, red packet (Chinese word : Ang Pow) will be given to the children and unmarried members of the family. Red packet also given to the unmarried visitor and children who come to visit each other family or friends. After visiting our family member, at the afternoon they suggest go for a half day trip at Genting Highlands to try their luck at Genting Highlands Casino. Children who can not go in to the Casino, they play at the indoor Theme Park at the First World Plaza.
Second Day of the New Year
The second day of the New Year is usually for visiting the family of the wife for a couple is married. A large feast is also typically held on the second day of the New Year. So, I went back my mother house just about 5 km from my house. That day me and my two other’s sister gather at my mom house. We having our dinner there, my mom cook a lot of food such as steam chicken, ginger duck, fry prawn, fish, lotus root & cranberry beans soup and some veggie. Whoa! Yummy, what a delicious and great dinner.

Third Day of the New Year
Third day morning we decide having Bah Kut Teh (Pork Bone Tea Soup) for our breakfast, so we run down to Klang .The famous Bah Kut Teh at Klang Name by Seng Huat restorant, operation more than 60 year! Fondly known as “Bak Kut Teh Under the Bridge” by the local, because the restaurant really under the bridge. The Bah Kut Teh Taste not bad. After that we come back to Kuala Lumpur, and visit to Thean Hou Temple (Chinese: 天后宫) at land atop Robson Heights along Lorong Bellamy, overlooking Jalan Syed Putra (Federal Highway) Kuala Lumpur. It ‘s around 3pm afternoon , it’s rainy only can visit inside the Temple and inside the Hall there is a show concert singing the Chinese New Year Song by the local singer.

Forth Day of the New Year
The forth day we go to visit my sister Bungalow House at Taman Tasik Prima at Puchung. She invites us to having a barbecue dinner at her bungalow house (The lake view). The place is very nice, but this location is nearby some small factories. My sister move in the Bungalow house last Chinese New Year. The view at the lake side is beautiful. It is a good place for fishing. My brother like to fish here for relaxing to less stress from his work. I bring my children and my nephews to view the Cascadia Townhouse lake side, saw some people playing speed boat and banana boat at the lake there. In the evening we have our barbecue that already serving by my sister. There are some chicken wing, hotdog, prawn, potatoes (this all buy from Tesco Puchung), and fish (catch from the lake), Fruits and cool drink such as Kut Fa Tea (cook by my sister) which can less the heat for the body. My brother inlaw is a Chinese Tradition Acupuncture Master, we call him Master Leong. His medical centre at 4^th floor Menara Promet Kuala Lumpur and Taman Kinara Puchung, Label by the name : The Tole Acupuncture and Herbal Medical Centre Sdn Bhd. We went back late at night around 10pm. Next day is the school open day. Very Tiring….
15th Day of the New Year - Lantern Festival
The New Year celebrations ended on the 15th of the First Moon with the Lantern Festival. On the evening of that day, people carried lanterns into the streets to take part in a great parade. Young men would highlight the parade with a dragon dance. The dragon was made of bamboo, silk, and paper, and might stretch for more than hundred feet in length. The bobbing and weaving of the dragon was an impressive sight, and formed a fitting finish to the New Year festival.

It was named after Valentine Carey, a former British civil service officer in Malaya. Despite its name, many locals from Klang do not consider it a real island compared to Pulau Ketam due to its proximity to the mainland and the river that separates it from the mainland is practically a stream. Theres nothing much to do here except if you are visiting on the 28th of February this year where the Mah Meri Asli people would be having the annual prayers and feast. That would be an exciting thing to watch.

It is famous for its seafood such as crabs, prawns, and various fishes. The island has palm oil plantations owned by Sime Darby Plantations. It is an initial settlement area for the Mah-Meri (pronounced [max mri]), one of the aborigine Orang Asli tribes of Malaysia. They have assimilated into modern life, with jobs in the nearby plantations and farms, but they retain their unique culture and way of life. Apart from exhibitions of their traditional dances and music, the Mah Meri are particularly known for their votive sculptures, fashioned from a kind of swamp hardwood known as "Nyireh Batu".

The seafood there is cheap and nice. If you drop there can try the tasty food ar Restoran Kang Guan

1) Oyster Omelette ‘Oh Jien’ – Delicious tasting and it’s a bit different from what we have in PJ or KL. It’s not very oily too which is total opposite from what I had before. For those who loves oyster you might want to stop by here and grab a piece of it.

3) Crispy Fried Sotong – Very nice!
4) Vegie – Just some normal vegies…
Overall, it was a good value and tasty meal, at a very interesting location by the river but if you go at night you will not be able to see the nice sea view. Recommended and it’s cheap too.

Templer's park is located 2km north of Kuala Lumpur. Templer's park is a good place for nature lovers, photographers and picnickers.

The entry is located beside the busy trunk road to Ipoh. There are numerous picnic areas along the two streams and you will find visitors almost anytime. From the car park a road leads to a nice swimming pool and there you will find a signboard to the waterfall.

This area was fully equipped with toilet facilities, change rooms and canteen. if you had not reached here and see for yourself, you would not imagine its setting up. Just wondering the hesitation and the talk by urbanites that the place was in the wilderness.

This beautiful park is a precious repository for flora and fauna, and one of the last proper green lungs within the city outskirts. There are restaurants, food stalls and ample parking space. For overnight stay, there are chalets and camping facilities for visitors.

Bring along a change of clothes, swimwear, insert repellant and a pair of binoculars if you are into bird watching. Wear suitable shoes as the around the waterfall can be slippery.

The Kanching Forest, about km later, is also on the right side. There are seven Waterfalls in the the Kanching Park. The signboard was previously erected to guide visitors to the 7 water falls.
Visitors walking follow the guide line by showing from their names .There are paved steps to trek up to the destination of their choice and capabilities. For Those who have more energy can climb up to waterfall level 7 where it is less crowded.
This Kanching Recreation Park sees the confluence by 2 rivers. There is a choice of depth and water flow to suit the family needs. You and your family especially for the kids can have an activities like wadding in the shallow stream or playing with a dingy is allowed.

At Colmar Tropicale Berjaya Hills Resort they have a bakery, restaurant, wine bar in the town. Rooms are available at the resort meaning you stay in the French themed town itself. The Colmar Tropicale has a host of activities to enjoy. Indulge in cigars at the Le Vin Wine & Cigar Bar or be amazed by the lively street and exotic stage performances from local and foreign artistes. A clock tower at the entrance welcomes the visitors. For those into photography, the Colmar Tropicale has many sights for shutterbugs to make a snapshot; the castle drawbridge being a particular favourite. Watch swans paddling lazily around the moat, relax by the square’s fountain, make a wish at the wishing well, gaze at the cuckoo clock tower (designed after the Riquewihr Tower in France) or climb the tower for a panoramic sight of the entire resort.

After a visit the Colmar Tropicale you can take the tram provided to Japanese Village as the road to Colmar Tropicale is less steep. You can even rent a Kimono at Japanese Village (RM 20 for 30 min). You can also visit the Botanical Garden near to the Japanese Village.Bukit Tinggi Japanese Village consists of beautiful gardens to a waterfall, impressive koi ponds and up to a Japanese Tea House. It was planned and designed by a Japanese architect, Mr Kaio Ariizumi and built by a team of 22 skilled craftsmen from Japan. We found there’s full of spirit of Japanese at the moments. It is worth to visit especially photography purpose or relax; a lot of nature plants & live that you can find at Japanese Village.

The rabbit farm is not included in the entrance fee to ColmarTropicale. However it only set us back RM3 per person to get in, which to be honest was great value for money. Again with the food provided the boys really had fun feeding the already well-fed rabbits. They were pretty tame, which made the boys even The rabbit farm is lacated at half way to Colmar Tropicale & Japanese Village, is not more curious. They can’t stop petting their backs. The area where children can interact with the rabbits was actually pretty small, and they had to climb up a small fence to get in. The fence was to avoid the rabbit from jumping out of the compound. They were pretty strict though on the matter of handling.We were not allowed to lift the whole rabbit up. Patting was OK.
If you are expecting a casino or slots machines at Bukit Tinggi, take note that there is none. There use to be but no longer. Now the place serves as a plain highland resort unlike Genting Highlands. Nevertheless, this place is great if you have kids.

Genting Highlands has several apartment and hotel to chose from. It’s available and convenient suitable for couple, family and friends gathering.

If you are looking to spend some quiet time to relax, this may not be the ideal vacation location especially during peak season where Genting Highlands can get really chaotic with the influx of tourists from Singapore. Long queues are a common sight at hotel lobbies, and don’t expect good customer services.
There are also few hotels at the resort, ranging from budget to five star hotels – Genting (5 star), Highlands (5 star), Resort (4 star), First World (3 star) and Theme Park (3 star).
The furnishing of most hotels are pretty old and worn out. In fact, most of the rooms require renovations if they are to keep up with times, hotel rooms are also unheated and can get chilly at night, especially during rainy days.

Canteen Station Highland: It's opened in 24 hour food outlet is known as Kanteen Stesyen Highland
(Canteen Station Highland) which is located beside Theme Park Hotel. The canteen caters mainly to employees of the resort and bus and taxi drivers plying the routes between Genting Highlands Resort and other cities. Many visitors and tourists can be seen patronising the canteen as well.Local food and delicacies such as nasi lemak, roti canai, kueh, fried noodles and selected mixed vegetables rice are available in the canteen. The Canteen Station Highland is probably the place for the cheapest food at Genting Highlands!
Penang Food Village (Theme Park Hotel): This restaurant would be unremarkable anywhere else in Malaysia, but in Genting it’s a notch above the competition: prices are reasonable (most mains under RM10) and the food is tasty.
The Olive: Located at the Lobby Floor of Genting Hotel, the Restaurant exudes a modern, arty design with a casual, ‘olive’ colours and warm lighting. Offering Continental cuisine served in a trendy yet elegant ambiance, the food features textures, flavours and styles in a blend of classical recipes with contemporary ingredients and tastes. There are choices of the best cuts of meat, seafood, salads, pizzas, delicious desserts, fine wines and more. Juicy, succulent Wagyu Beef is the house specialty. One can easily reach Genting from Kuala Lumpur via car or taxi and enjoy the picturesque beauty on the either side of a six lane highway being built on a mountain. On the way to Genting from when it rains in Genting Highlands especially if you are driving as the visibility will drop to zero.
KL Easibook.com provides coach bus services from Kuala Lumpur instead of Puduraya to Genting Highlands First World Hotel.
There is a "Go Genting" bus service also running at KL Sentral. This bus will end at the cable car station at the foot of the mountains. You have to buy a cable car ticket to Genting Highlands.
A few things to watch out for :
(a) The road leading up the Genting are long and winding. Most first time travellers will get uncomfortable.
(b) The cable car allows only a certain luggage size into the cabin, very much like carry-on luggage on a plane, so just make sure you pack something compact.
(c) Once you reach up to Genting, as a first time vistor, you will be very very disoriented by the sights and sounds of the place. Even during low season, the place is packed full!

Batu Caves
Batu Caves is a limestone hill, which is series of cave temples and caves, at Gombak district, 13 kilometers north of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Batu Caves takes its name from the Sungai Batu or Batu River, which flows past the hill.
This cave is the most popular Hindu shrines outside India, dedicated to Lord Murugan. It is the focal point of the Hindu festival of Thaipusam in Malaysia. Batu Caves is the centre of rock climbing development in Malaysia for the past 10 years. Its offers more than 160 climbing routes. The routes are scattered all around the side of Batu Caves, which is made up of limestone hills rising to 150 m. These climbing routes are easily accessed as most crags start from ground level.

Batu Caves serves as the focus of the Hindu community's yearly Thaipusam Tamil festival. It has become a pilgrimage site for not only Malaysian Hindus, but Hindus worldwide from countries such as India, Australia and Singapore. A procession begins in the wee hours of the morning on Thaipusam from the Sri Mahamariamman Temple, Kuala Lumpur leading up to Batu Caves as a religious undertaking to Lord Muruga lasting eight hours. Devotees carry containers containing milk as offering to Lord Muruga either by hand or in huge decorated carriers on their shoulders called 'kavadi'. In 2007, the festival attracted more than 1.5 million pilgrims, making it one of the largest gatherings in history.
The Thaipusam festival is held in the Hindu month fall around end of January or early of February. This celebration takes for 3 days. You can choice to staying at Batu Caves Hotel the nearest hotel at the caves.
