And these might not be good looking photo for some but Nepal is really a strange country when it comes to certain ‘traditions’.
So it is not shown on first page. You have to read more for this.
We didn’t invent vehicles but we worship them. And we sacrifice goats and hens and swans to them so that, we like to believe, god will be kind to us in our journeys. There is a whole day called Bishworkarma Day when we worship the god of irons and worship our vehicles. Today is not the Bishworkarma Day but eighth day of the 15-day long Dahsain festival. Today estimated hundreds of thousands of animals are sacrificed to make the goddess Kali and cars like these happy. Read this editorial from the Kathmandu Post that discourages people from sacrificing animals.

A happy Guruji: His name is Buddhi Tamang, a driver (guruji) at Kantipur Publications. He is the guy who drops me (Walge) at my home every night at around 10 PM (sometime 1 AM) from office. He is actually a very nice and good hearted janajati guy from Ramechhap. Today he is worshiping his livelihood that is the vehicle he drives! Pics by Wagle.

I don’t endorse this tradition but many people feel its their culture to do so.
