I always want the best for my family as a mother. Taking care of their wellbeing and health falls under this. While many of us understand the value of leading a healthy lifestyle, we frequently overlook the little things that have a major impact on our general wellbeing. Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) can be used in this situation. FSAs make it simpler to prioritize your family’s health without breaking the budget by allowing you to utilize pre-tax money to pay for healthcare costs.

Here are a few of my favorite FSA-eligible products.

Sunscreen – Sun protection is vital, especially during the hot summer months. Look for a sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and make sure it’s labeled as “broad-spectrum,” meaning it protects against both UVA and UVB rays. A family-friendly option is the Neutrogena Pure & Free Baby Sunscreen with SPF 50. Sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher is eligible for use with FSA.

Tinted Sunscreen – the EltaMD UV Daily Tinted Sunscreen. This sunscreen provides a sheer tint that helps to even out skin tone and create a flawless finish. It is also packed with antioxidants and has a non-comedogenic formula, making it perfect for all skin types.

Band-Aids – No family is immune to cuts, scrapes, and bruises. Keeping a stash of Band-Aids on hand is a must for quick and easy wound care. Look for a brand that offers different sizes and shapes to accommodate different types of injuries. I put these in my car, a few in my wallet, and make sure the kids have a few in their backpacks.

Women’s Hygiene products – Pads for women’s hygiene are a must in every home. There are several solutions available to suit everyone’s needs, ranging from panty liners to overnight protection.

Pain Relievers – Headaches, menstrual cramps, and other aches and pains can disrupt our daily routines. Keep a bottle of pain relievers like Tylenol or Advil in your medicine cabinet for quick relief.

First Aid Kit – A first aid kit should be a staple in every household. It should contain items like bandages, gauze, antiseptic wipes, and adhesive tape. The American Red Cross has a comprehensive first aid kit available for purchase. I always keep a kit in each car.

Contact lens solution: Contact lenses require proper care and maintenance to keep them comfortable and free from harmful bacteria. FSA eligible contact lens solutions help clean, disinfect, and store your lenses, keeping your eyes healthy and comfortable. My daughter goes through these very quickly and it is good to keep one as an extra so you can never run out.

Omega 3 amino acids – these are necessary for maintaining general health, yet our bodies are unable to create them on their own. They lessen inflammation by: The anti-inflammatory characteristics of omega 3 amino acids can aid in reducing pain and inflammation in the body. Additionally, they benefit brain health since DHA, an important part of the brain, and omega 3 amino acids aid to enhance memory and cognitive performance. Make sure get these for everyone in the family. Just remember to consult with your healthcare provider before starting any new supplements.

Hot and Cold Therapy Pack– A variety of aches and pains can be effectively treated using hot and cold therapy packs. This pack offers hot and cold therapy to help relieve pain and swelling, whether you have a headache, tight muscles, or even a damaged ankle. It is both affordable and environmentally friendly because it is reusable. The older I get, the more I use these.

These FSA eligible products are essential for every family’s health and wellness. Make sure to stock up on these and many others. When you search for these online, make sure the product has “FSA eligible” in the description. You can use your FSA card to pay for it online. When I go to the grocery store, I separate my stuff into two piles – I pay with the FSA card for FSA eligible products and use a regular credit card to pay for everything else.

Every day my kids ask me not if, but when, is it going to snow. While Atlanta may or may not see any snow, we are very lucky to have Snow Mountain at Stone Mountain Park nearby. With hundreds of tons of snow and multiple attractions, this place is a must-visit destination during the winter.

We started off our Snow Mountain experience with two hours of tubing. We must have gone down at least 8 times. We probably managed four trips down the hill in the individual tubes and four times in huge family tubes (Avalanche Valley). Both were equally fun. While the kids loved being independent in their own tubes going down by themselves, we also thoroughly enjoyed going down in the group tubes and watching the excitement on each other’s faces.

After our two-hour tubing session on the 400-foot tubing hill was over, we headed for the SnowZone.

It is great for kids of all ages, even the smallest ones. When we took our first trip to Snow Mountain in 2010, our toddlers were gleaming with joy at playing in the snow and going down the Bunny Slope in the Little Angels area.

They were just as happy to play with the snow now.

SnowZone has a slide area for kids up to 54″ called Penguin Run.

There is no time limit on this slide. The kids must have spent another two hours going up and down.

This came to a total of four hours of them pulling the tubes behind them. While the main tubing has a conveyor belt-type lift, the kids still had to hold on to the tubes. It was, by far, the longest workout they’ve had to date this year. That night was also the first time they asked to go to bed without putting up any battles.

Disclaimer: I received complementary passes to the attraction.

The post There is snow every day in Atlanta during winter (at Snow Mountain)! first appeared on My Busy Children.

Buying toys for your kid is easy. But buying safe toys for them will make your choice difficult. There are times when you look at a specific toy and feel like buying it at once. In most of the cases, you buy them and give it to your kids. This is wrong. There are a number of issues you need to consider so that your kids are safe.

Here are a few safety tips you can look into, before buying toys for your kids:

1. Well-made Toys: There are a number of toys available in the markets that are made without looking into the shape, size and other factors. Most of these toys are about action figure or other known personalities. These toys sell like hot cakes. The manufacturer does not invest quality time in making it. This can be harmful. Possible side effects are the sides can be snapped off or chewed, the thread is hanging out and some parts are rusted. If you do not check for such effects and give it to your babies, you can probably understand the risk you are taking.

2. Age-appropriate toys: Picking up any toy will never serve the purpose. For example, if the manufacturer recommends that a particular toy is for children above six, pick it up only if your kid is six or above. There are a number of reasons for this. Maybe the kid (is less than six) might not be able to understand how the toy works. However, the hidden purpose is, those above the recommended age group are capable of understanding possible risks and can stay away from it. So, choose toys accordingly.

3. Size Matters: Till the age of two (or three in some cases), kids love to put everything in their mouth. If the toy is too small for them, they might eat it too. So, try to buy toys that are bigger than the size of their mouth. With this, you can possible avoid the risk of choking.

4. Weight issues: Try buying toys that are lighter in weight. This is important for a number of reasons:

If it’s heavy and it falls on him, it’s risky.

If your child tries picking it up, he might hurt his back.

Little ones love kicking their toys. Kicking heavy toys, they might hurt themselves.

5. Magnets: There are a number of manufacturers who use magnets in their toys so that the toys can perform certain functions. While playing with toys, there is a possibility that the magnets might come out, and your child might swallow it. Two or more magnets swallowed, can cause real troubles and will impact your child’s health negatively.

A mom’s life is difficult. Looking after kids, catching up with the daily chores, and much more. Working on this, if you have taken a late entry to the course, can you find time to study? The answer to this question is; it depends on you. If you want to find time for yourself, you will. If not, then forget it. Either ways, we have some simple tips to help you sneak out some time out of your busy schedule and study.

Early Morning is good for studying: Studying early morning when you are fresh, you will be able to grasp more. If you have to watch video lectures, it is even better. So, get up early and study till you are distracted by your little angels. Another advantage of an early morning study is; there is no noise around. It’s peaceful and you can study without any disturbances.

Keep a book or e-book on your side: It is true that studying in parts does not help. However, if that is an option, try it. Again, it can even help you memorize formulas, sections, etc. Yes, this is important. If you are pursuing law, the book should have section number and their names. If you are a medical student, learning drug names can be easy this way.

Toys: This is not for you, but related to you. Get some amazing toys and games for your kids which can keep them busy. Doing this, you can get back to your studies. If you are planning to buy some cool toys for your kids, here is a nordstrom promotional code to help you get the best toy for them at an affordable price.

Read anywhere, anytime: Being a mom, you are used to a noisy environment. So, if you are travelling in trains, or waiting for an appointment; carry a book and keep reading.

Little sessions: You cannot dedicate long hours to study. If you do, you will be distracted and end up failing in both, your studies and responsibilities. So, have small sessions and keep your focus intact. The count of 30 minutes sounds good. If every session is of half an hour, it will be easy for you to take up other tasks and take care of your little ones too.

Have a Break: If you have studied for a decently long time, reward yourself. Take some time off. Till now, you have been great as a mom and have studied too. Congratulate yourself and relax for some time. While you are taking a break, don’t revise your subject. Just do random stuff. Read magazine, do yoga, or anything you want, expect studying or revising.

Plan: Planning is important for anything you do. If you plan your day realistically, there is a 90% possibility that your day will end as expected. There can be urgencies that are uncalled for, but then you can only do what is in your hands. So, stop thinking of contingencies and make a concrete plan.
