This is why we tend to stick to their designer lines. They always end up partnering with cool, independent brands that we already like, so we see more value in being able to purchase their designs at Urban Outfitters prices and get really cute pieces that actually seem pretty well-made. Some of our personal faves are Fletcher by Lyell, Rapscallion by Samantha Pleet, Lark & Wolff by Steven Alan and David Page by Timo Weiland. We’re also fans of Geren Ford’s Hawks collection, whose latest delivery is available online today (and in stores sometime in the next week) and is full full of black, draping, and little rivets–all things we like. Coincidentally, we just snapped up a dress from the last delivery, all of which is now on sale.

We also just found out about Le Bij, a line of eco-friendly bar rings in a ton of colors made out of recycled plastic. The line is designed by Jules Kim of Bijules, whose rings are frequently spotted on the fingers of people like Katy Perry and Rihanna. Bar rings–those rings that are vaguely similar to brass knuckles–have only increased in mainstream popularity since around 2007, when everyone in New York started wearing the Surface to Air ones. (Le Bij is not the first instance of Urban copying a jewelry design concept.) The jewelry trend, which is still hard to find for much less than $200, can now be yours, in plastic, for a mere $18.

Now Lola’s got three posts up, the latest of which includes the word “FABNOSITY.” It’s like her own hipster tween spin on Kimora Lee Simmons’ “fabulosity.”

So I culled through her musings to put together this handy Lola Lexicon, and tried my best to interpret and define each new word and phrase (Brits please clue me in if some of these are British-isms I don’t understand). This girl deserves her own urban dictionary. Here it is in alphabetical order. Enjoy.

FABNOSITY
Context: No but for rizzle, it’s a great line and if you guys like it that that is FABNOSITY.
Translation: “Material Girl is the ish and if you like it that’s super awesome.” Fabnosity is a pretty good word and is kind of fun to say, not that I’m going to start saying it. Well played, Lourdes.

Helluuur thurrrr
Context: “Helluuur thurrrr, I’m Lola and this is my first blog entry so it’s kind of like ummmm….”
Translation: “Hi.”

Mehmehmehmehmeh
Context (not that it helps here): “Ok so as you all know Material Girl is OFFICIALLY coming out in like a week. Mehmehmehmehmeh. Awesome or what?!!! YESSS,” and “It was lovely blogging to you all, please keep reading and don’t forget to bring your own toilet paper to festivals. mehmehmehmeh.”
Translation: “I’m an excited LOL cat.”

MERCIZZ
Context: “Hey again, thanks to everyone who shared and liked on Facebook which is cool because I’m trying to get as many views as possible ☺ MERCIZZ FOR THAT.”
Translation: “Thanks,” French-Snoop style

obsessivo
Context: “I am totally obsessivo about 80’s shorts.”
Translation: “I’m real into these shorts.” “Obsessivo” means obsessive in Portuguese, but Lola’s dad is Cuban so we don’t think she got this one from him.

OH MY DAIZ
Context: None, really but it follows this: “A lot of you asked me what color I was dying my hair and it’s actually going to be like a kind of cherry blackish thingy bobbie. OH MY DAIZ.”
Translation: I figured it was something like “OMG” or “YOU GUYS!” but it’s actually in Urban Dictionary as a phrase used in conjunction with “ogly” as in “oh my daiz that trick is ogly.”

PFH
Context: “ok so the Germans lost but not surprising becuz it was just a hot mess. The final game is spain vs netherlands and I’ll prob watch it, some of the spanish players are PFH.”
Translation: She explains this one herself. PFH = pretty freakin hot

var var
Context: I recently got really interested in the group Muse, which are like reee-heeaally good. They are BLINGING INNIT MATE (British ghetto talk, its var var LOL).
Translation: “Very.”

Whatsa bobbie, see also thingy bobbie
Context: “I saw this guy on the street the other day and he was so cool and he was so beautiful too, he was dressed like the lead singer from Guns’n’Roses. Whatsa bobbie I forgot his name,” and “A lot of you asked me what color I was dying my hair and it’s actually going to be like a kind of cherry blackish thingy bobbie.”
Translation: “I can’t remember the name of that thing so I’m gonna call it bobbie. Cool?”

The party was full of cool people like Arden Wohl, Tom Sachs, Leelee Sobieski and Waris Ahluwalia, who lent a beautiful piece from House of Waris to the event’s silent auction. If the piece weren’t so far out of our price range, we would have bid our little hearts out. We’re super jealous of whoever got it, but if it wasn’t you, head to Barneys this week, as all proceeds from House of Waris will go to the Endangered Species Coalition. Sculptor Tom Sachs is also helping out–he made this amazing necklace made out of little polar bear sculptures and about $40 worth of quarters, all the proceeds of which will also go to the ESC.

While the event was really about the animals, we are Fashionista, so we had to ask Waris about the CFDA Fashion Incubator, about which he had little to say: “Yeah, I mean, it’s an office space.” We also got some scoop on Waris’ collaboration with Tilda Swinton and Pringle of Scotland for their 195 Collaborations collection. Waris is creating a special brooch for a limited edition twin set for Fall. It will be sold at Barneys and might have something to do with their Fashion’s Night Out event, which just keeps sounding more and more amazing.

About midway through the event, the entire party gathered around a macbook to watch this hilarious, cute and heartwarming video that the Neistat brothers made for the Endangered Species Coalition. So, we will leave you with that and a link to the ESC’s special Oil Spill: Wildlife Crisis website, where you can learn more about the oil spill’s impact on endangered species and what you can do to help.

And for those still unconvinced of LSD’s work ethic, we hear that the charity event favorite is also about to launch an e-commerce site. It’s supposedly some sort of web trunk show…we’ll tell you more as well learn more.

Can’t Hardly Wait: Another online magazine goes live this Friday. It’s called Hardly and is openly aiming to fill the void that Sassy left behind, something no other magazine has successfully been able to achieve. Only a few shots have been released from the Canada-based mag, but it looks good to us and we hope it brings today’s teens the kind of happiness the Sassy brought people back in the day. {Refinery29}

Zee Goes to the Zoo: In a kind of hilarious video, Joe Zee walks around the The City on a 90 degree day. He goes to the zoo and lays out in a park. Oh, and he’s wearing a Fall ‘10 Chanel suit made entirely out of faux fur that looks like an abominable snowman costume. {Elle.com}

J. Crew friendship bracelets: J. Crew’s latest accessories collab is with Frieda & Nellie and includes super cute one-of-a-kind friendship bracelets! The collection debuts tomorrow in the SoHo and East Hampton boutiques and if you’re wondering why we’re just hearing about it now, it’s because J. Crew only met with the designers last week – impulse buying we can all benefit from. However, they are a bit pricey – $130 to $250 per bracelet. {Stylelist}

Critical Shopper vs. Forever 21: An anonymous squad of 3 brave women to took on the enormous Times Square Forever 21 on a weekday afternoon. They spend hours in the store, dodging such obstacles as rambunctious teenagers and crying children on a quest for the ultimate designer-inspired deal. {NY Times}

Of course, Iggy Pop doesn’t really wear t-shirts. At last night’s launch celebration, he was wearing a vest with no shirt underneath. If you Google image the punk rock legend, it’s hard to find an image of him with a shirt on.

So I asked him, “You don’t really wear t-shirts–are you going to wear your Barneys’ Archive 1887 line?”
Now prepare yourself for this epic rock star response: “I wear them in the morning when my AC is too cold in my Ferrari–I always wear an Iggy and the Stooges t-shirt,” he told me.

But would he ever wear them on stage?
“Nah,” he said, at this point perched close to me on the large wooden table where he was autographing tees. “I just stay like I am.”

Yes, please. You just stay like you are.

Iggy was a good sport about signing tees and posing for photogs, and made an interesting analogy about his Barney’s appearance.

“It’s a new relationship and I owed them one,” Iggy said. “Kind of like if you go with a chick you eventually get married and you have to have a ceremony. I owed them an appearance of some sort. And also, Barneys is a nice store to crash.”

Indeed it is. So nice that Trash and Vaudeville’s Jimmy Webb stopped by to say hi to his friend and stripped down in the middle of the store to try on the line.

The tees, priced at $58, are classic super-soft rock tees plastered with iconic images of Iggy Pop contorting on stage.

Of course it’s not the first time Iggy Pop has made a foray into fashion. He was the poster boy for John Varvatos’ campaign back in 2007.
