This weekend was less stressing for my cats than I had thought. Grandson Toby with Daddy were on visit.

Kim had chosen a new place on the sofa just under the painting of the Grand'Place in Brussels.

It was the first time that she slept there since she arrived in our house. She didn't know yet what would come !

Pookie's instinct told her that there is something wrong, the rugs had disappeared and also the cat statues, and decorations, strange things were laying around which she had to inspect.

and then it happened ! Strange noises came from the house ! Alert ! a mini human was approaching !
Rosie escaped into the house like a flash and Kim disappeared for the 2 days our visitors were staying ! She only came in at night for food.

Rosie was offended, she doesn't like mini humans, they are noisy and try to pet her. She stayed in my room, but came out sometimes into the yard, to observe from far what was going on.

Only one cat wasn't bothered at all, Arthur of course ! He stayed cool and allowed to be petted. Toby was introduced to Arthur with the recommandation to be sweet and not to scream, and don't slap him, but pet him softly.

The result was this, they were very cute together. Only once Arthur hissed, Toby probably was showing his love too roughly, but this was the only time during the 2 days.

He actually loved this little guest, because he throw food on the ground and helpful Arthur cleaned it off, taking himself for a vacuum cleaner.

But that wasn't all. One morning I heard strange noises coming from the kitchen, I ran there and what did I see ? Arthur with a big croissant in his mouth running in the garden !

Where he ate it with gusto ! He watched that nobody approached him, he didn't want to share. The few crumps he left were later eaten by a crow ! Now waste in this house !

Now the calm is back again and everything returned to normal life.

For once when I worked in the garden, it wasn't Arthur who kept me company or tried to help me, but it was Rosie.

Fortunately she doesn't help like Arthur, who digs out the plants you have freshly put in place. She is more supervisor and apparently the earth she sniffed didn't smell good enough.

She didn't like to go on the grass either, maybe because of my red boots.

But then she saw Pookie who played doorman at the kitchen door, and before they both started to hiss, Pookie went away and waited until Rosie was gone.

For a while she hesitated, inside or outside, and decided that she had enough of fresh air.

She warmed up her belly and had found a new cushion for her head.

Then she choose the armchair and fell asleep.

Kim (under the bushes) was so happy that the ivy who had invaded the bushes was gone and she could lay down on the warm earth, just besides our little cimetary.

Pookie choose to make Mr. G.'s bed, before she lay down.

and Arthur's new quirk is sitting in the kitchen and sing without any reason. He always hopes that somebody shows up with new food ! As he has such an awful voice, we are both running to see what he wants and when we serve him some food so he would just shut up, he turns around and goes away.

We are the poor victims of a cat terrorist !

Each time the sun comes out for an hour or so, Arthur goes out too.

He loves to sit on the little wall besides our house and watch the people especially those who walk their
dogs.

Then he sits there and laughs his head off, because the dog pulls on the leash, and the owner has all difficulties of holding him back (of course it depends on the dog size) and Arthur thinks that they look like those who do water ski.

He also loves to climb on the car, grooms his fur and then sits and observes the street. He only regrets that the dogs don't see him, because they don't look up on cars, but rather at the wheels to eventually lift a leg.

Mr. G. had finally managed to clean the entrance too and Arthur checks if the tiles are as white as his fur !
Kim loves to sleep in the bark, it's nice and warm there when the sun is shining.

To put the garden furniture on the terrace Mr. G. had removed the plastic which had protect them over the winter. As it was wet we put it on the grass to dry. Arthur was not so sure, because it made a strange noise when he walked on it.

When Rosie saw Arthur she of course had to check this strange thing too, she even went under it and Arthur waited on the other side to see when she came out.

Unfortunately I missed this event, I wasn't quick enough with my camera.

After these new experience they were both tired, Arthur joined Pookie, who had stayed inside as usual, for a little nap.

Rosie also returned home and observed me while I was working on the computer

WHERE TO SLEEP ?

For once most of this post is concerning Kim ! I had to take her to the groomer it was more than necessary. But as she is an autistic cat (I am sure of that), very intelligent but not social at all with humans. She is mostly outside not far, but when the weather is bad she comes in around 10 pm and sleeps at Mr. G's feet.

On the night before, we were both nervous and waited that she would come in. At ten she appeared and went to bed with Mr. G. I quickly shut all the doors, put a litterbox, food and water in the guestroom, and then returned to pick her up which of course was impossible. But she had felt something strange her instinct told her that there was something unusual going on so when she saw me she disappeared like a flash downstairs to get out of the house. Instead she found the door closed, ran into the guestroom and I quickly closed the door. We both pushed a big sigh of relief, she was inside !

Next morning we tried to get her out of the guestroom into the staircase where she would be trapped. I finally had to use the broom to get her out of under the bed ! Finally with a lot of desperate meows we managed to push her into the cage. We were exhausted !

Kim not very happy in the cage, "sang" the whole way long in the car until I arrived !

And then happened (as usual) something very strange. Sophie without any problem took her out of the cage, put her on the table and started working on her. And what did Kim do ?? She purred and purred as if she would get payed for !

and then she was the best and most friendly cat in the world. She continued to purr, made pasta with her paws and stroke her head on Sophie's hands. Things she has never done with us ! It was offending !

and this was the result, after nearly one hour of grooming an extraordinary patient cat ! Apparently as the winter was so cold the animals had more hair. It was enough fur to make coats for 3 naked cats !

As soon as we arrived home, she jumped out of the car and disappeared in the garden, and we only saw her in the evening again.

Rosie checks the weather after having done her morning gymnastic. Besides that she has catched a mouse again, and has put it with care into Pookies bowl, nothing special happened.

Arthur who thought he had slept enough and wanted to go out, did his morning cleaning and Yoga exercises, and then stated that it was raining,

which made him very angry ! You can see it on his face.

But as he is a philosopher, he just thought he could keep company to the cushion until better days !

Pookie, rain or not rain, as volontary inside cat doesn't care about the weather. After having mistreated with energy, the sofa with her claws, she collapsed on it for another napping round.

Our spring weather changes like a moody Diva ! Sunshine, rain, sunshine, hail, sunshine, rain etc.

As soon as the sun is out, Arthur too ! As you can see he works hard on the bark and I have to clean the entrance every day. Here he is busy to eat his daily part of salad, but it wasn't good enough in our garden so he went to the neighbor and ate it there.

Usually he then comes home to barf on a oriental rag ! He is a posh cat !

He also tries to do his little business on the bark, but it doesn't work very well because there is a plastic underneath and that's quiet frustrating. But at least I have no weeds. The flowers are fake flowers because it's still too cold to plant real once in the pots.

When after rain it's still wet and then the sun comes out they all take a sunbath in the living room ! This week Rosie hasn't catched any mouse, they probably stay also inside their mouseholes because of the rain. So far I haven't seen a mouse with an ombrella.

Even Kim has enough of the wet grass and profits from the sun shining on the sofa.

While I was working "hard" doing the laundry, my cats helped me watching TV ... they slept. Arthur was probably planning his next crimes.

and in the evenings he sits on the radiator to warm up his botty, before he goes out, certainly not looking for girls, he has enough with his harem of 3 females !

I always wonder about the complicated positions Arthur takes for sleeping ! Under the table over the metalic bars, which is not so comfortable or around the Onyx ashdray (for decoration only) .

PS. I got ~~nearly~~ used to the "improved ???" and easier ??? new Dashbord ! Hurrah !

This week I had inside cats, because the weather was lousy and cold. They all used the litter box in the garage which stands there for emergencies, but nobody wanted to wet his botty and go outside to dig little holes and have to clean their paws afterwards.

Arthur loves to watch me fumbling around in the kitchen, he takes his most innocent look or fakes to sleep. So when I cut a chicken breast into little pieces and turned my head for a second I suddenly saw a white flash disappearing with a big piece of chicken breast ! He is a great thief. If he could be trained I would learn him to steal Euro banknotes at the neighbors !

Rosie as a perfect house~~wife~~cat still puts her mousies around her food bowl and is very proud of herself.

But in the innocent looking housewife a mass murderer is hidden ! She brought us again a real mouse as a gift and left it on the floor. The mouse looked so alive, but was dead, so I suppose it died of a heart attack. Mr. G. wrapped it in kitchen paper and burried it in the bin. Unfortunately there were no flowers inside.

Even Kim was fed up of the cold and humid weather and came to sleep inside. On Saturday I have an appointment at the groomer so please cross your fingers or paws that she will be inside !! The poor thing is full of knots especially under her belly.

and Arthur doesn't bother that with a bow on his head he looks like a cute lady, when he sleeps you can even put a grenade on his head and he wouldn't move unless of course the thing would explode.

Last year on Easter we were almost melting because it was so warm, this year we were freezing and my cats "celebrated" Easter alone at home while my neighbor took good care of them. We went to Amsterdam, where at least on Easter Sunday the sun came out a bit.

Nobody was interested while I did the Easter decoration to take with us. All four snobbed the fake green grass, the yellow feathers and little fluffy chicks, and the plastic easter eggs were also not of any interest to them, not to speak about Easter bunnies.

Pookie as usual did her jogging from sofa to bed and the other way around to sleep and wonders why her belly

becomes round and rounder ! I now bought food for inside cats, although she can go outside, but she is so lazy.

Arthur thought that while it's cold and wet outside he should do some spring cleaning and entertain his white fur for eventual meetings with neighbor cat girls.

Otherwise he ~~disturbes~~ helps Mr. G. when he plays cards with his computer and pushes on the wrong keys creating new programs, much to Mr. G. pleasure. I hear then : %$@&# Arthur !!!

Pookie inspected the new scarfs I had bought and found them very comfy to sleep on them.

And then she told all of us what she thinks of Easter !

This post is dedicated to Arthur's 10th birthday !

In June 2002, Mr. G. and I went to an animal shelter to choose a white cat. Mr. G. had dreamt of a white cat since his childhood, and as our Max went to the rainbow bridge 6 months before, we though it's time to fullfil his dream.

and so Arthur arrived in our home. The vet put as his birthday the 3rd of April which is also the Saint's day of Mr. G. which is very much celebrated in Italy, even more than birthdays. I have my doubts about his Sanctity, but that is another story.

So today we celebrate Arthur's 10th birthday ! When he arrived he wasn't bigger than the remote control and quickly showed that he was a quiet special and intelligent cat.

He makes us laugh with his funny sleeping poses

He is a perfect model for my photo themes, especially when he sleeps then you can do anything with him. Even move him around while I make the bed.

Of course he also is a real cat with the corresponding instincts and unfortunately sometimes a poor bird or a mouse is murdered.

Arthur has a lot of activities besides sleeping ! He likes to watch water drops in the sink, stealing food from Mr. G's plate, squatting our toilet when we need to go, climbing in all cars when a door is open. My neighbors always check, as once he had slept on the back seat and meauwed when the car started to move. Poor neighbor almost got a heart attack. He also loves to take a sunbath and then collapses besides my bed for a little grooming.

He also is very playful, attacks the broom, doesn't fear the vacuum cleaner at all, chases Rosie around, watches the neighborhood, and sometimes also TV. It depends on what is on the program.
He loves watching golf (he is the only one in the family) and each time the ball falls in a hole he looks under the TV for it. For having fun we don't need a TV, we have our private entertainer : Arthur !

During the 10 years the remote control has shrinked. Now Arthur is bigger !

A FLYING MOUSE ?

It looks as if spring has definitively moved in, at least the warm and sunny weather continues.

Arthur checks the temperature each morning before deciding to go out or not.

But this is pure routine, because nothing holds him back to sit on the neighbor's garden shed and watch over all of us, or just sitting in the sunshine and listening to bird songs. The birds are fortunately invisible, because Arthur is a terrible bird catcher !

For the moment Pookie only supports Arthur to share her afternoon nap on Mr. G's bed, and the poor man complains that he can't do a nap anymore because his bed is occupied.

Rosie loves to look out of the window to see what is going on but she also loves to go outside, but mostly during the night and then she brings a homeless mouse into the house, to play with it and then forget about it. Therefore we housed a mouse for two days together with 4 cats, until finally Mr. G. wanting to safe the mouse's life closed the living completely and only left the french window and the stores open, to create a mouse flap. Unfortunately he hadn't noticed that Rosie was also locked in the living so in the morning he found a offended Rosie jumping out of the room through his legs and a dead mouse under the dining table.

Two days later he found a mouse head in one of the food bowls. I think we should rename sweet Rosie to Killer Rosie.

Kim has disappeared and sleeps somewhere outside, she only comes in for food during the night.
This bothers me very much because I can't catch her to take her to the groomer, which is more than necessary !

We really don't need a dog ! As soon as somebody comes near the doorsteps I know !

I have two watch cats

and especially Arthur, who always tells me when Mr. G. is coming home. Long before I hear him fumbling around in the garage Arthur has already heard that he is there and of course as love goes through the stomac he is thinking about what Mr. G. has in the shopping bags ! Since he has discovered that we are worrying about him eating, he doesn't eat his cat food, but waits until he has checked out that there is really NOTHING to eat in our plates. Only then he would eat what's in his bowl. Can't say that he is a stupid cat !

Rosie spends a lot of time on her cat tree playing with her mousies before she carries one into the kitchen to decorate a food bowl by dropping the mouse into the food. Pookie is not very happy about this attention !

After an exhausting morning Miss Rosie starts her 16 h sleep.

But now that the sun is shining from time to time and lets you dream about spring, she joins Kim on the terrace, paying attention not to wet her delicate paws.

Arthur smells if spring is in the air and starts his spring cleaning. Maybe he also wants to get a little more brown.

He still sleeps in the cat tree during nights, so that when he feels hungry he doesn't have to get up and can eat Rosie's special diet food right away ! He is not for wasting his energy.

When the sun is shining Pookie also makes a little stroll around the house and here she probably thinks that the terrace needs a good cleaning !

SPRING IN THE AIR ???

Sometimes miracles happen, Kim sat by my side to take care of her thick fur, unfortunately under her neck and belly she is full of knots. No way to brush her there.

The first real sunny day where spring was in the air, Mr. G. managed to brush at least her back and sides, but she doesn't hold still and goes always a step farer. The poor man has to "run" behind her.

I just had emptied my suitcase coming back from France, that Pookie thought it was a nice bed to sleep in and spent the whole night in there. Arthur just did a little checking, but was hissed away.

For the first time this year, when I looked out of the living room window, I saw Arthur sitting on his watch tower which is our neighbor's garden shed. He was very disappointed that nobody digged in the yards yet, he always loves to help digging or digging out freshly planted bulbs, to the neighbor's delight.

Instead he found a little twig and was throwing it into the air and jumping around with it.

Rosie not quiet sure of the 2012 grass quality, prefered to stay on the terrace and just have a sniff on it.

LIVING HEALTHY ?

I am still at the French Riviera visiting my friend Claudie, (whom I met through blogging) for the second time.

The weather is warm and sunny which is a big change for me coming from the grey and cold weather up north.

Claudie has 3 cats, who she had to leave on the property with her sister while her house was built.

Here are two of them, but I don't know who is who as they look very much alike. Ticoune the female after a while has accepted the new house and moved in again. Pedro is still hesitating but comes often for food of course but doesn't accept yet any approach and doesn't want to come inside. But in a few weeks I am sure he will. The third one I have never seen, still eats at Claudie's sister house and refuses to come down to his new home, which are making them quiet sad. Probably one day he will, when in summer all windows and doors are open.

My little monsters at home are well. Apparently only Rosie suffers a bit from my absence, because she is used to sleep with me and now the bed is empty. The others terrorize Mr. G. except Kim of course who still doesn't know if she should sleep inside or outside.

Next Tuesday I am home again.

Kim really is a mad cat ! When it was so cold and everybody stayed inside, she was always outside and didn't want to come in. Now that it is rather warm outside, she has changed her mind and comes inside !

She even sleeps on my bed which is a miracle !

she loves company of her "siblings" and always tries to sleep together with one, here she choose Arthur.

In Mr. G's office she shares the sofa with Pookie

and even with Mr. G. !

Rosie always likes to have company outside, then she feels more safe, Kim made the kitten sitter.

I have absolutely to take her to the groomer because her belly and around the neck is full of knots, and she hates to be brushed.

Arthur, when he doesn't ask for food enjoyed the first warm day outside, taking a sun bath and watching dogs going by. The dog owners are not very happy about that, because they have to pull their dogs back and it looks as if they did water ski. Arthur doesn't move !

Rosie when she doesn't sleep, plays with her mousies, or waits hidden behind a door or furniture to catch the tails of the others who just walk by. She is a little bitch !

When you read this I am sitting in the airplane taking me to Marseille in Southern France, where my friend Claudie waits for me to take me to her home, where I will spend a week. Mr. G. as usual will spoil the cats, so that they are also on holidays !
