There is always a special relationship between your kid and his/her teacher. As a parent, it is very important that you build a good/solid relationship with your child’s teacher too. You get to know both emotional and mental progress of your child regularly, if you have a good relationship with your child’s teacher. Are you ready to know the right way to build a concrete relationship with your child’s teacher? Here you go! Read some of the peak peeves of most teachers out there and learn how to build a good relationship with teachers.

Stay away from these major ‘favorite peeves’ of teachers:

Odds are teachers will be very polite to notify about the following matters directly to you. So, read the following pet peeves of most teachers and never ever, do them!

1. Don’t try to discuss about a specific issue with your child’s teacher when you pick-up or drop-off your child to school. Your child’s teacher may be very busy for saying ‘bye’ or ‘hi’ as she has to deal with a lot of parents and children. Also, if you talk to the teacher about a topic that is not suitable to discuss in the presence of your kid, your child might understand the problem (if, he is there in that vicinity), even though he seems to be actively talking or playing with his buddies. So, it’s better to contact the teacher individually and talk about things.

2. Never insist your child to keep her clothes neat and tidy all the time at school. Chances are high that your child may lose a pair of mitten or gloves in her outdoor recess or in her physical education class. It’s okay if your child misplace things at times!! Most schools offer personal box and cubby for children to keep their things safe. If not, you can buy additional gloves and mittens and store them for emergencies.

3. Never be late for the ‘circle time’. A lot of preschools begin the day by assembling all the kids (making them stand in a circle) to perform or discuss things such as weather, specific activities. Furthermore, the principal might review the to-do list of that day’s proceedings. So, circle time is an essential fragment of the preschool routine. If your kid fail to spot it, he may feel a little misplaced, particularly if , he’s the only student who missed the circle time.

4. Your ignorance about the school’s regulation policies is the main thing that may upset your child’s teacher (and the school). For instance, if your child’s teacher has the time-out policy in her class, never show objection or make a complaint about that policy even if you don’t like it. This is because, your objection might confuse your child and she may not agree with her teacher. So, before deciding your kid’s school, check whether the school’s policies and viewpoints harmonize with your individual policies. Make sure whether you can respect these policies in any case.

Ways to impress your child’s teacher:

1. Once in a while, check your kid’s (school) cubby to make certain that the additional clothes in the cubby are still appropriate for that particular season and also double check that your kiddo has not outgrown those clothes.

2. Every day, make sure that your kid clearly knows who (whether mom or dad) is going to pick him up from the school in the evening. This is to avoid any anxiety in your kid at the end of the day. The teacher can also prepare your kid accordingly.

3. Label the sandwich variety that you have packed for your child for his lunch. For instance, if your child’s classroom is peanut-free, and you have prepared the sandwich with ‘sunflower’ butter or with some other ‘nut’ butter, it will save the teacher’s time in inquiring about the kind of the sandwich.

4. Share your kid’s specific interests (that she showed on a holiday trip or excursion) with your child’s teacher. This may maneuver your kid to the class-room elements that’ll plea most to her.

Teacher’s expectations from parents to do at home

Even though, the teacher plays a major role in your child’s academics, emotional and mental stability, as a parent, you still have to do a lot of things with your child at home too. Let’s discuss about the most significant things that your child’s teacher expects you to do at home in order to help out your child perform better in his/her school? Take a look at your child’s teacher’s crucial wishlist one by one.

Play classic games with your child: At this moment, children mostly spend a lot of time in using latest technologies. This has made the fundamentals such as sharing with other kids, waiting for their turns and playing reasonable games to pass by the hard shoulder. For this reason, kids come across more tears, disappointments, aggravation and irritation at their school playgrounds. You can avoid this by playing some classic board-games with your kids at home. Also, you can involve them in paper cutting, play-rock, hide-and-seek in order to teach basic rules and skills that are required for playing games with other kids of their age.

Ask detailed questions to your child: Trade “Hope you had a good day at school today” for even more comprehensive and detailed phrases or questions. For example, you can ask, “What have you learnt at science class today?” and “Are you doing addition in your Math class these days?” Such precise, explicit questions are known as “discussion-starter questions”. Such questions will provide you with an enhanced “quick peek” into your child’s world. In addition to that, such detailed queries also help your child to expand essential societal skills that he/she might need at the school.

Read the important notes from your child’s teacher: Every day, take enough time to check your child’s school folder to know about the class bulletin, authorization slips and some other important notes from your child’s teacher. This will provide you with crucial things and events that’s happening (or going to happen) at your kid’s school. Also, this helps you to prepare him/her for those. Neither you or your child will be in high spirits if, for instance, you have forgotten the yearly ‘picture day’ at school!!

Never try to wipe down noses and shoes always: Trust me! Your kid can do things on his own! Perhaps not on the very first time! But, be patient and wait. Even better, be unswerving! Though, some tasks may have the need of your supervision in the beginning, you can gradually leave individual space for your kid to try out things on his own way. You may be surprised to know that your kid’s ‘wisdom of independence even rubbed off on his classmates. You may never know. Your child may become the trend-setter for other kids!!

Manufactures are also releasing new, fun and kid-friendly games every now and then to attract kids. For your convenience, we have created an evaluation of the most excellent ‘Nintendo Wii’ video games for kids. Starting from Disney to Dora the Explorer to Mario Brothers, we have formulated best games for all age groups. Let’s be acquainted with some of the superlative Wii game console for your children!

Vacation flee

This ‘Go vacation’ Wii game will certainly create a center of attention in the total family. All family members can assemble and play this game when you take a trip to your favorite family holiday trip. This console has plenty of family activities and games such as horseback riding, carnival fun games, island discovery, surfing games, etc for the whole family to play and have fun in unison. Though, it may not seem and feel like actual family island vacation trip, this game will offer you an effective vacation feel. Something is better than nothing, right?

Kirby’s – return to dreamland

This is ‘Kirby’s return to dreamland’ adventure. This game is a fun-filled and exciting activity for kids. Kirby tries to pick up some strange pieces of things from an extraterrestrial flying saucer that has stopped working in his ‘Pop Star’ world. Kids who play this game will try to lend a hand to Kirby by gathering all the scattered pieces. They also can help some of Kirby’s friends to enter into the battle. This game can also be played as a family.

Fantastic Mario galaxy two

Being the most highly-admired, all-time favorite Wii video games, this luminously creative podium involves Mario to travel along the galaxy scores that varies from huge wooden plain-sailing puzzles (that hover in the blue sky) to bonbon-themed sugary planets. The game also has scores of newfangled Mario outfits where our big-mustached petite-plumber can become an undulating rock to squash the enemies and also turns out to be a bumble bee to increase the capacity to float. In this game, no 2 levels are same. Your little one can feel the game to be a bit difficult. However, an obliging princess appears to present demonstrations and hints when your little warriors sprint into danger.

McQueen returns – Cars-2 video game

Kids of all ages are crazy about this movie and the video game. However, this game is most adored by older kids as they know to maneuver as it should be. If your child enjoyed the Cars 2 movie, he sure will love this video game also. The game takes your child to CHROME, the “command headquarters for recon operations and motorized espionage” in order to cruise from where the Cars 2 movie left your child off. Now, your kid can select from above twenty Cars 2 characters of the movie and play a part in maneuvers, missions and audacious rescues. Can you hear your kid screaming “Ka-chow”?!!

Epic Mickey from Disney

This game is proposed by ‘Warren Spector’ who is one of the most highly praised video game designers in United States Of America. This incredible video game will put the player in the Disney’s much-loved icon’s shoes as he travels around a gloomy territory. The players will come across the Disney theme park fun rides and their favorite Disney characters that the remarkable company has built over so many years. Kids can reinstate the globe with some paint coat. They can fill in gaps that has gone astray or erase the impediments by using the paint-thinner. Each and every judgment of the player has a crash on the method of the game and the way the characters see the Mickey. Overall, this Epic Mickey is a treat to all little ‘Disney fans’.

Party with Wii

This game is a party with Mario devoid of Mario! The compilation of over eighty simple and quick game activities in this game is expanded over an assemblage of awe-inspiring games that can be played for ten minutes or one hour as you wish. For instance, a board game which is based on dice involve players to dash up a heap in between pit-stops that will make them to race for delivering pizzas or in an attempt to prevent a lofty pile of gifts from falling apart. On the other hand, a cool holiday trip game will request players to jump over several logs or to solve easy 2-piece puzzles while they collect world-wide souvenirs at the same time. A major part of this game requires skill. However, most games are repeatedly ‘hit and miss’ so that the kids can battle on the matching level as parents and teenagers.

Culpable party

For the entire family members, this knowledgeable ‘guilty party game’ coalesces the frantic fun of speedy and easy mini games with the significant game of a ‘tactical board’ game such as the ‘Clue’. Players can gather proof in the course of game activities. For example, investigating fingerprints, choosing locks, questioning suspects and by shifting a flashlight just about the panorama. After that, the players take a look at the clues that they have found about the doer. The examination includes whether the active person is a woman or man, with short or long hair, whether old or young… This investigation helps kids to find out the illicit’s identity. This game has a sufficient amount of mysteries for several weeks of family enjoyment.

Donkey-Kong country returns

This is a primary and novel Donkey-Kong game in recent decades. This side-rolling cute monkey lets the players take control of the main game’s celebrity as he jumps out of barrels, sway on the grape vines, moves along in a mining pushcart and moves pirate ship field gun fire. Older kids will be glad about the fact that the game remains factual to the license’s roots. Still, accumulating bananas remains a major constituent and the cycle of beloved ‘Donkey Kong’ plays a key role in the game. However, the accomplishment request kids who never have played a ‘Donkey Game’ before. In addition, 2 players can play the game in concert. This game makes it a good option for Mom and Dad to enjoy with their children too.

They show things around their kids but personally, parents are not aware of the actual fact. However, the investigation is well worth the effort. According to a research, individual spirituality can provide much more than a fuzzy and warm feeling. Children who expand the wisdom of an affectionate supreme power or an unknown guiding force in their younger age are less likely to suffer from things that may abuse them later. A recent research from the University of British Columbia, Canada found that kids who are having any kind of spiritual belief are appreciably happier in general. On the whole, having a knowledge of supreme power existence seems to augment children’s wisdom of individual purpose and meaning of life. It also reinforces their links to their group of people and also to others.

Now, the big query here is ‘How to offer the contributions of trust and faith to your children?’. Let’s see the various ways of nurturing, through which you can implant this seed in your kid’s heart.

Confess your ignorance honestly

This may not be acceptable for many “noncommittal” parents. Suppose, if your child asks you a question, “ where will grandpa go after he dies?”. You may not answer such questions instinctively. Rather than avoiding such unanswerable questions, you can accept your ignorance by replying, “I’m not pretty sure about this. After all, human life is jam-packed with tons of secrets”!! Also, you can share some of the facts that you know. Like, some people believe that they go to God after they pass away or any other ideas that you have. But, tell your children what you know without any false facts.

Religion versus spirituality

If you are a person who don’t settle in one religion, your kids might ask you several questions like, “Why don’t we go to a temple or a church while my friends go?”. In such circumstances, explain them that they can find the supreme power –‘the God’ everywhere. They should understand that they can find god in the natural world, at their school, at a park or even in their own house! As parents, you should also insist them that every family has its own custom, language and inimitable culture and religion. Likewise, your family might make a different choice in these categories. However, your family is valid in the same way as the others.

Read with your kids frequently

There are many story books for kids which emphasize on kindness, broad-mindedness, impartiality and spirit. All these good characters collectively can be named as “spirituality” as they all speak to the connectedness of all groups of people and leading your life with a principle. Instead of directly insisting about developing these characters in your child, tell them indirectly. You can point some of the moral that the story teaches, like, “Do you think the story teaches good stuff?” or ask questions like, “What do you think was the most excellent chapter of the story?”

Create worship routine

This may sound like rituals and prayers. However, this practice can be a gateway to teach gratitude or concern for your kids. Try to borrow poems or prayers from various cultures or even your family members can write one on their own. Teach them to thank for what they have got in their life (good family, good parents, good food, even for a candy they got that day). Also, teach them to pray for others, say for instance, if they see an ambulance, ask them to pray for that person to get well soon. Every day, as a family, you can sing thankful songs for that whole day before your dinner time.

Discuss about your personal issues

Children benefit greatly from watching and hearing how parents handle the ups and downs of their life. You can express your feeling and concern about your sick friend or any issues at the work place. Tell them the way you are going to handle the situation by passing some good thoughts (or praying) to your sick friend. Also, ask them their opinions about the issue. Older kids can even come up with a really good solution for your problems. This way, you train them to handle things in their own life too! Research says that even if one parent leans towards spirituality, the children persist to discover spiritual issues individually in both teens and adulthood.

Craft a family declaration

A lot of religious traditions offer an agenda of principles and values to pursue. You can also create one for your family. Surprisingly, younger kids of ages 3 or 4 can also understand that their family believes in principles such as, caring for others, helping others, caring for pet animals etc. Post these unique principles in your kitchen cupboards where your kids can see every day or just use it when you are making preferences about how to use your leisure time or while making up your mind on disagreements.

Plan on some quality (quiet) time

For centuries, a major aspect that all religions have followed is to provide a break in weekly proceedings, schedule and reveal about their vital issues. Follow this routine for your family. You can go for a stroll or try a new Pilates or yoga class or make your children write or draw about a spiritual subject for instance, “What do you want to request to God/supreme power/creator?”. Create calm time for your kid so that he can reflect on the day’s happenings and how he/she feels about them.

Explore the spiritual background

It is a way of offering a universal education to your children. Art is a great way to show your children how spirituality is a part of history. Take them to some historic museums and art shows where they can learn more about the past history and different religious beliefs, customs and traditions that people follow from the old times.

Trust your spiritual values in tough situations

If your kid’s beloved grandparent passed away or if your child come across something inequitable or when there is a natural disaster, the chances of turning your child towards supreme power for comfort are high. In such situations, you can teach your kids to pray quietly the and request the supreme power to solve the problems.

Educate with an example

Always insist an idea or a notion by a living example. If you want your kid to behave nice to others, then you do it first. If you preach and act different, your kid does that too.

Teaching your kids about faith, hope and spirituality don’t have to be perfect like it’s done in a church, mosque or a temple. It’s all about letting your kids see people living out their lives with a purpose and meaning. Ask intense questions and answer them in the right way to raise them as kind hearted children.

Parents are ready to do anything and everything to make their babies smile. In the early stages of an infant’s life, he/she may not be able to express their exact feelings and emotions. At times, we parents may not be able to predict their feelings such as hunger, tiredness, crankiness etc. Modern research says that when a good body massage is given to the infant by it’s parents (in the right way), it may not only calm and soothe the baby but also contribute to the baby’s appropriate growth. A soothing massage perhaps will be the consent to a calmer and more contented baby. If the baby is calm and happy, both mom and dad will be too! Basically, infant massage when offered in the right way will do wonders in your baby’s growth level.

Benefits of parent’s touch

It is scientifically proven that when a parent and an infant share direct skin to skin contact and tender loving touches, it offers so many benefits to that baby. The power of massage will offer the following benefits:

Make colicky infant to settle down

Donate to baby’s weight gain

Offers good sleep to the babies

Babies may also have less episodes of a runny nose, infections or cold

As a bonus, the power of parent’s touch also contributes to a lifetime bonding between the parents and the baby

Things required for a baby massage

Before getting ready to offer a relaxing massage to your baby, ensure that you have all the following (essential) stuffs that are needed for the baby massage session.

An even surface that is covered with a cozy blanket or a bath pad

A tiny amount of baby oil or olive oil

Paper napkins or a kitchen wash cloth to wipe off the surplus oil

A squashy towel or blanket to wrap your little pumpkin

If needed, a pacifier for the baby

Dim-light atmosphere

Pleasant, soothing music

Warm temperature

Things to remember during a baby massage session

At a given point of time, give only a minute of gentle and slow strokes. It is important that you use only your finger cushions and not the pads of your fingers. This is because, it might put more pressure to your baby’s body parts. It is not advisable to use the entire area of your palm. In addition, keep your baby comfortable and cozy by increasing the temperature of the room slightly. It’s better to use a soft towel to cover up the exposed parts of the baby in order to keep the baby warm.

10 Step by step instructions for massaging your baby in the right way

The following ten step by step baby massage instructions should be performed in a very gentle manner. Now let’s see the massage instructions step by step.

Step1: Lay down the baby on his stomach comfortably with her head turned to any one side of the body.
Step 2: Dispense a few drops of baby oil or olive oil on your hands. Rub both palms together to get the oil evenly on both the palms.
Step 3: Starting from the baby’s forehead, give slow, nice and gentle strokes.
Step 4: Then, move slowly to the crown of the baby’s head and then move down to the nape of the baby’s neck.
Step 5: Now, give gentle strokes across each shoulder starting from the midpoint of the neck and then moving out to the baby’s arm. Give strokes to one side of the shoulder at a time.
Step 6: Then, starting from the apex of the baby’s back area, move down gently towards his hips using both of your hands. Be very careful and do not touch the spine area.
Step 7: Now, slowly move your finger pads down to the back side of your baby’s legs simultaneously. Then move your finger pads up for one more time.
Step 8: Proceed with the same gentle stroking action on the rear of your baby’s arms also.
Step 9: Now, rest your baby on his back and repeat the same process of stroking (up and down strokes) on your baby’s torso and front of his legs and arms.
Step 10: By this time, some babies might even sleep. If so, cover the baby with a warm and cozy blanket and put him/her in his bed in a quiet and calm place.

In addition, some of the most modern researches also suggest that parents notice a great deal of improvement in their child’s language if, they respond back to their child starting from the first month of the infant’s life. There are some proven strategies through which you can improve language development in your child. Explore the stage by stage speech guide to your baby-talk based on what you notice in your child. Master the best way to keep up your end of the conversation much interesting and turn your child into a ‘master chatter’!

Month 1- “Kwaah-kwaah”

Though wailing and cooing may sound conversational, its essentially the baby’s principal way to communicate with you. Your baby may cry or ‘coo’ for several reasons, such as, hunger, tiredness and so on. What’s more? Crying prepares your child for authentic language by fortifying the neural conduits in her brain that are responsible for speech. It actually offers a good exercise for the organ called ‘larynx’. The larynx is the organ (in throat) that is responsible for speech fabrication.

How to respond: Say something that will soothe your child’s wailing and fussing. Even though a loud cry may work on his vocal cords, the sooner you reply to him, the more convinced he’ll be that you are truly listening to him. That way, he will be more enthusiastic to communicate his feelings with you.

Month 2 to 5: “ Aah..ooh”

These “super” cute coo’s comes from your baby’s larynx. These coo’s are some pre-practice for using his/her tongues and lips in the future. Basically, babies tend to concentrate on specific sounds such as, snarls, vowels and squeal when you call them. Such sounds help your babies to manage vocal volume and tone that are essential for their very first word formation.

How to respond: You can say anything in a ‘singy-song’ voice, like “Hiiii daaarlinnng”!! Latest research suggests that infants are impressed by the high-pitch tones and more willingly will imitate the same tone.

Month 5 to 7: “Ah…boo”

When your child starts to use consonants, it shows that he is now gearing up to generate a complete inventory of different sounds which is a primary linguistic landmark. Actually, creating consonants is a tough task for babies. It needs a greater interaction between their lips and the tongue.

How to respond: You can start describing your baby about the daily routines, things that you see while you walk with them, etc. Say for instance, let your child know that his dad will be taking him for a walk in the evening! You may think that your baby is not able to understand words. But, research says that babies can understand much better than you realize.

Month 7 to 9: “Da..Da..”

Your infant is still imitating sounds. When he begins to babble in different syllables, his conversation will be in a language that’s hard to understand. These meaningless syllables would be your baby’s rehearsal for proper sentence formation with real meaning.

How to respond: Chat about the objects around her so that she can link those things with the right words. Make sure you notice the right object that your child is actually looking or pointing before you label objects.

Month 9 to 12: “Goo-bie”

Making right sounds at this point of time takes a little practice. So, your child will be in the ‘middle’ spot between babble and true speech now. He may say, “Goo-bie” for his ‘sippy cup’ and “Nee-nigh” for ‘milk’!!

How to respond: You don’t have to insist on the right pronunciation as long as you recognize that your child is trying to communicate with you. For fresh talkers, using strange names for common words is not unusual. Hence, the best way to respond is to let your baby know that you understand what she’s trying to say. If she says, “Bolee”, give her bottle”!!

Month 12 to 15: “Ball”

Initially, your baby will say a (full) right word that she’s captivated by and something she can tell without difficulty. That’s why, easy words such as, ball, dog, cat are often used by babies than hard to pronounce words like, computer or kitchen.

How to respond: Cheer her up by saying “Good Job” for her right words. This will encourage her to learn new, different words. Doctors say that “ If parents talk more to their babies, they learn new words very quickly”. So, keep talking to your little one. That way, you will furnish right words for some fascinating sensations and objects. Use those words for appreciating your baby when she uses the right words for the right things.

Month 15 to 18: “Come”

When your toddler has said that first word, she soon learns different parts of speech such as adjectives, nouns and verbs. By the time your kid reaches 15 months, she/he can say more than twenty words and the word list swells as days goes by.

How to respond: Cozy up with a storybook for a vocabulary booster. Board books filled with tiny and sweet words, bright pictures are just right for them now.

Month 18 to 22: “Leis-go-wou”

You know that he says something so adorable. But you can’t understand his sentences. Around 21st month, he will become ‘king of senseless speech’. He may say thirty real words that are super cute though!

How to respond: Question him about his talking. One research says that back and forth conversations between parents and child improves the child’s oral skills efficiently.

Month 22 to 24: “More Juice”

When your kid turns 2, he can twine 2 or 3 words together to create small sentences. This shows that your child is utilizing the language to get things done. Favorite word for most toddlers: “More”.

How to respond: Give her what she wants. Nevertheless, with a reason! If your child is asking for things, then, it means that you have reached your milestone. Celebrate that day!!

I think many of us would have! However, we don’t really think much about “implementing the process” of being an inspiring parent to our kids. Let’s learn some of the best tips that we can do for our kids. Let’s turn into inspiring parents!

1. Try to be tolerant and serene

There is a saying – “ You need to be taught before the time passes”. What does that mean? In recent times, numerous kinds of ethnic assemblage and families are burgeoning in our society. So, as a parent, it is your responsibility to teach your kids about sympathy, acceptance and tolerance before they become 7 or 8 years old. Also, parents should also adapt these qualities in their life in order to live as a live example to their kids.

2. Gather at the dinner table

Have a family dinner every day. Though it sounds very simple, the dinner table is a spot where you can have a good conversation and spend some quality time as a family.

3. Let your kids know your workplace

Once in a while, take your children to your workplace. This will make them understand about your hard work, commitment, passion and aspiration to handle things in a right approach. Also, they will appreciate the value of each and every penny that you earn.

4. Move your body

If you want your children to exercise, then you do it first. Stop being a couch potato and engage yourself in a daily exercise routine. Just run around the house 4 or 5 times with your kids. It’ll be fun and healthy at the same time. Teach them a valuable lifetime habit – ‘exercise’.

5. Be a “supervisor”

Most of the times, parents don’t query about the products that they buy for their children. You always think that the products that are sitting in the grocery store shelves are 100% authentic. You never would have guessed that there would be a harmful chemical in the juice box that you often buy for your kids. Similarly, you never know that many companies use ‘carcinogens’ in the laundry detergents. All these facts never hit us before. Hence, it is always good to be an ‘overseer’ when you buy products for your children in order to keep and raise them healthy.

6. Practice your children to accept your “No’s”

Children must be taught to hold up fulfillment and gratification. They should understand that life is not even-tempered at all times. They should accept the fact that they may not get everything and anything they aspire. Therefore, it’s absolutely fine (actually, crucial) to say “no” to your child’s unacceptable desires or happiness.

7. Engage them in your kitchen work

Most of us don’t know that all kids love to cook. We think that their degree of labor in the kitchen is just restricted to “peeling potatoes or rolling cookie dough”. Actually, kids love to do many things in the kitchen. Allow them to stir-fry veggies, cut pizza slices, blend things together while cooking. Basically, all children love to know the real essence of cooking. If you allow them to perform some interesting activities in the kitchen, they will quickly develop their cooking skills that persist with them perpetually. At times, encourage their ‘kitchen help’ by offering them some money to save in their piggy bank!

8. Educate while you read bedtime stories

Children are very new to this exciting world. They have nil information with them. They need to learn things as they grow. How to help them learn things? Read, read and read with them!! Read more stories with your children. Stories may be anything from history to fiction. Create your own interesting and exciting stories about some queen of Europe or the king of Netherland. These bedtime stories will help them to explore new things in this universe.

9. Involve your children in social services

In all ages, children respond to the idea of helping others. As a parent, it is vital for you to lend a hand and administer their hard work. At the same time, permit your kids to do things on their own. When you educate your children to help others on their own interest, you are offering them an ‘origin’ of a pleasurable lifetime practice – “helping nature”.

10. Zero make-up day

This may sound odd or even, silly for many people! We all want to look and feel beautiful in front of our children. Nevertheless, being unique and remarkable is much more vital than being pretty and attractive. This surely requires compassion, essence, approach and of course, self-confidence. Never forget to rejoice the special qualities that portray you as a ‘unique mom’. What are those special qualities? “Qualities that would inspire your children with or without special grooming”. Simply put, your child should feel: “My mom is very powerful and beautiful until the end of time”!!

11. Never be judgmental

Being judgmental to the kids is the No.1 mistake most parents make. In the first place, let your child to explain. Then, gently but firmly let him/her know the mistake behind their act in a polite way without making them feel embarrassed for their act.

12. Manners matter

Teaching things such as, shaking hands with others in the right way, proper eye contact, polite behaviors are some of the wonderful treasures that parents can offer to their children. It will become a lifetime practice for them. Your child will never get a second opportunity to make a good impression in his/her life. So, start teaching good manners even in simple everyday activities.

13. Show them the real world

You don’t need to hide things from your children. Show some real life struggles that most children face in their life. For instance, poverty, lack of education and much more. That way, you teach your own child to grow up into a responsible adult.

14. Take good care of your health

Every mom or dad thinks that “My child and my family is my first priority”. Emotionally, this statement seems to be fine. But, maintaining your health is vital. If your child comes to know that you are falling apart emotionally or physically, it will hurt (scare) them very badly. Parent’s discontent or deprived health is a great encumber for children. So, let them know that you can handle life in a healthy way. This is a great way of letting your children understand that you will be there for them with a healthy body, mind and soul for a very long time!!

15. Movie night

Once a week, make a giant bag of popcorn, switch-off all the lights, cuddle with your children on a couch and watch some interesting kids movie. Giggle, have fun, discuss about the major flaws of the movie and finally, rate the movie. This is a great way to have a lifetime emotional attachment with your children as they grow up. At any point of their life, they always want you to take part in their personal life discussions or general discussions such as, warfare, allegiance, principles, philosophy, morals etc.

As a busy mom, you always have numerous duties to handle at the same time. However, yelling, screaming, raising your voice or shouting at your children won’t really bring any positive results. When you panic your kid by yelling at him for his mistakes, the child’s total energy will get disconcerted in shielding himself instead of realizing his actual mistake.

We parents should teach optimistic discipline and manners to our children. At one fell swoop, it is very important that we discover and learn them too. When your children watch the way you handle your discontentment and anger in an optimistic manner, they get educated in the same way also. Just think of your kid’s emotional state when you yell or shout at them. He/she will certainly feel dishonored, embarrassed, and overwhelmed.

Top reasons for yelling or screaming at kids:

Mom’s yell at their children for quite a few reasons.

(a) Children never finish their work on their own
(b) Children don’t behave
(c) Children don’t follow your oral directions

And the list goes on….

So as to deal with these behavioral issues, instead of using your judgmental language, try to use a tricky language known as “descriptive or expressive language”. Basically, descriptive or expressive language incorporates certain words that possess ‘zero’ condemnatory affix that would please children instantly. This “expressive language” approach is an effective way that will help your children to resolve their problems on their own in a sensible way.

Ok, how to employ this expressive language strategy? Let’s take your child’s usual bedtime conflict as an exemplar. How to make her go to bed on time with the help of the expressive language? Instead of yelling at her, just look into her eyes and say, “Mommy thinks that it’s time for my bug bunny to snuggle in her bed with her teddy bear now. I guess my darling daughter would say OK without any whining”. Such delicate shift from yelling to emphasizing make things easier than you imagine.

Following are some of the proven approaches to abandon your “judgmental” language:

Approach 1: Talk softly:

Using a soft but firm voice will make a great impact on your child’s behavior. For instance, if it’s your child’s homework time, instead of forcing her to do her homework, go closer to your child, lean over and whisper softly and gently in her ears. “Honey, I think it’s time for you to start your homework. Switch off the TV and start with your homework ”. This intense, powerful and gentle whisper works more effectively than your usual yelling. Also use expressive words instead of judgmental words. When your voice is gentle and soft, the message you wish to convey will reach your kid powerfully and clearly.

Approach 2: Act according to your age:

Sorting your kid by his/her age is an extraordinary technique that provides you an instant viewpoint. Let’s say, your son unintentionally broke his little brother’s favorite flight toy. Instead of yelling at your son for his act, you can calmly question him like this: “Can you tell me your age? Are you a 2 yr old boy? I don’t think so! I think you can handle things more efficiently next time” This solid (soft) punch will cease you from escalating the situation. At the same time, such expressive language will educate you about the resilience and help you understand that your son is just a 4 yr old boy and you are 30 yrs old woman who can handle such situations sensibly. Give it a try!

Approach 3: Take Frequent breaks:

Not only kids struggle to change gears. Parents have the same problem too! Therefore, before attending to your kids’ needs, give yourself some rapid stress-buster’s. They help you to detect your inner sense of feeling, like, whether you are hungry, stressed out or perhaps feeling inexcusable as a result of an argument or debate with your husband that morning. Frequent breaks can be achieved in many ways. If you feel stressed out, take a warm shower. If you feel hungry, snack on a rich protein bar with assorted nuts. Overall, respond to your inner sense of emotions and feelings just few minutes a day. This frequent breaks will assist you to please your kids’ daily needs in a diplomatic and polite manner.

Approach 4: Pamper yourself:

The notion of using expressive language in the place of judgmental language is a wonderful idea. Let’s assume a situation where you happen to notice your daughter’s artwork with colorful markers all over the living room wall. Instead of getting hysterical, try to use calm, expressive language here. Look into your child’s eyes and say, “I notice a huge mess all over the living room wall. It really annoys me. Go ahead and clean this total mess.” In reality, expressive words cannot be used spontaneously. It doesn’t come naturally also. So, set up a chart called “Expressive language star chart”. Whenever you use expressive language to your children, put a star in the chart. If you receive seven stars in a week, pamper yourself with your favorite activity, such as, a spa or facial treatment, a day full of sensible shopping with a friend, a date movie with your hubby etc. These tiny pleasures let you stay on the track consistently.

So, Mom’s! Get ready to implement these powerful strategies to become a super mom!!

I guess, most of us do! Cooking for kids who are too finicky about their food choices is not that easy. So, we have formulated some good strategies with fun that pleases your kid and at the same time turn your dinner time less-hassle. Use the following two part essential kitchen supplies to whip up a healthy meal for your child every day.

1. Build up your kitchen stocks:

There are some interesting yet kid-friendly kitchen tools and supplies that will definitely help you sell your dinner without any trouble!

Egg-cup: Buy the egg cups that can hold hard or soft boil eggs. If the shape and design of the egg cup is attractive, there will be a pleasant eating experience for your child. However, a simple serving of a hard/soft boiled egg in this egg cup will provide that day’s protein for your child.

Skewers and toothpicks: Try to use different exciting ways to prepare the regular dinner recipes for your kids. You can create a different feel and texture in all food with the help of these assorted spears. Try to grill whole fruits, chopped vegetables or cubed cheese in the skewers and serve them with a toothpick. Your child will be so excited to explore his dinner palate.

Slippery parchment paper: Baking fish in a parchment paper is a brilliant idea. However, there is one more advantage in using this parchment paper. Arrange assorted vegetables (sliced carrots, zucchini, snow peas, yellow squash etc) in the parchment paper. Season the veggies with salt and pepper. Squeeze some lemon juice on top of the veggies. Wrap the parchment paper with veggies similar to a sandwich wrap and bake these mini-veggie packets for about 7-10 minutes. Now, surprise your kids by presenting these “veggie presents” in the dinner table. Watch your kids unwrapping these mini-veggie packets with their eyes wide-open!

Bright-colored small glasses: Its surprising to know that all kids have difficulty in accepting one huge portion of food item. So, give them their snacks and even their drinks in small cups that are in eye-catching colors. Kids love to drink their milk in 2 small shot glasses rather than in one standard size cup. It’s all about unusual presentation.

Chopsticks and takeout boxes: For a change, you can serve the dinner using the chopsticks and take out containers. For extra fun, ring the doorbell before the dinner time and say, “Dinner delivery”! Basically, chopsticks can be used at any meal time for eating any food item in order to revolutionize the victory rate of your kid’s dinner. For easy maneuvering, wrap a rubber band on the ends of the chopsticks.

Handy flashlight: When your kid is not really in a mood to eat his dinner, you can do a trick with the flashlight. Turn off all the lights. In one hand, arm your little warrior with a flashlight. Let him have a fork in his other hand. Now, let him attack the iniquitous dinner leftovers with his fork!! It’s fun for him and success for you at the same time.

Parfait: Offering yogurt to your child in his regular bowl cup won’t really attract him. Just make a yogurt parfait by arranging layers of corn bread (or any kind of bread), yogurt and chocolate chips in layers and finish the parfait with a dash of whipped cream and a cherry. You will be surprised to see his excitement in finishing his parfait!

Straws: Straws may be of any shape or any color. Buy some straight, swirly and colorful straws and stock it up in your kitchen. These straws will turn all your kid’s drinks more fun and drinkable. Make sure you store these fun straws in a glass pot on the kitchen countertop.

Weekday restaurant night: Place your kid’s dinner plate on one of your deluxe, yet colorful tablecloth and faint the overhead lights. Just mimic the ambiance of a restaurant. Also, light up some fragrant candles and tell him that it is a weekday restaurant night (at home). Such sudden change in the ambiance might get the kids feel adventurous. Your child won’t concentrate much on finding fault with the food. Instead, he will enjoy the dinner and eat his food without any complaint. Our atmosphere sure makes a difference in eating.

2. Mix and Match Meals:

When it comes to kid’s dinner, it’s all about choosing the right combination of food. Just balance the protein, carbohydrates and vegetables while cooking your kid’s dinner or lunch to offer him a healthy and flavorsome meal.
For protein, go for cheese sticks, chicken tenders, canned tuna, tofu hot dogs, peanut butter, beans or eggs.
For healthy carbohydrates, go for oats, sweet potatoes, whole grain pasta, rice or wheat noodles, brown rice or multi-grain bread varieties.
For vegetables, go for Baby carrots, avocados, spinach, cherry tomatoes, salsa or broccoli.

Pick one from each of these healthy category and in a few minutes you can whip up a healthy and delicious meal for your child.
