You can configure QuickBooks to email invoices, reports, and other transactions. Choose your situation from the options below to use your email service with QuickBooks.
Notes:

To use these options, you need a web mail account or an account with an Internet service provider (ISP). If you are not sure whether AT&T is your ISP, check your bill. Many AT&T email addresses end in domains other than @att.net.
In later versions of Quickbooks, the email field is required, even when sending through Microsoft Outlook. The email in the "To" header can be removed once the email has been opened in Outlook.
Windows Live Mail: QuickBooks is not designed to email through Windows Live Mail. You can save Invoices, Reports Estimates, Purchase Orders and other forms as a .pdf file. Then you can attach them to an email from any email software that supports attachments.
Web Mail support was added in the 2011 versions of QuickBooks for Windows.

Emachine stuck on installing software office 2010 during recovery

I had this issue with a client so I shut the pc down and booted into safe mode. Then I opened msconfig and turned everything off that was related to acer/emachine. I then went into the hidden c:\OEM\preload folder and deleted the office 2010 folder and rebooted and it started up again, skipped that 4th option and jumped to 5 and was done. I went in and turned everything back on in the msconfig except the acer\preload and rebooted straight to the desktop.

I am pretty sure it was just deleting the office 2010 folder but if that doesn't cut it then try killing all the startup options and kill the acer/emachine services. I am not going through that again to find out what did the trick.:-)

Upon starting Outlook I get the message that errors have been detected and that I need to run the Inbox Repair tool.

Where can I find that?

The Inbox Repair Tool can be started with scanpst.exe. The location is different for almost every version of Outlook and even if you have it installed on a 32-bit version of Windows or 64-bit version of Windows.

This is an easy trick that is just 3 steps.

1st, find the page you want to pin

2nd, right click on the tab you want to pin then a menu will drop down

3rdly, left click on the option to pin the tab

Now, every time you open Google Chrome your pinned page will be there.

Now to unpin you follow the same steps and just unpin it and it will be gone.

Create a shortcut and then in the command for the shortcut put the path to the alternate browser and then the URL of the page you want it to open, inside double-quotes.

For instance:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\ "http://www.anything.com/"

There is an extension for Firefox called IE Tab which can be set to open certain websites in an IE tab within Firefox. It's pretty useful for this exact purpose.

When you are working in your company file in multi-user mode, one or more users receives the following message:

Sorry, you cannot record or delete this transaction now. User is currently doing a task that uses the data in this transaction. Try again in a few seconds.

You are unable to perform any other activities in QuickBooks until the message goes away except for the user who is mentioned in the message.

How to fix it

This issue has been resolved in the latest release for QuickBooks 2014.
Update to the latest release:
Estimated time: 30 minutes
Go to the Update to the Latest Release web page.

IMPORTANT: Make sure your product is selected. If not, click "Choose a different product."
Select and follow the instructions for one of the update options:

Automatic Updates
Manual Updates

If the issue still occurs after updating, or if you are on a different version of QuickBooks, continue below:

Intuit recommends more than one solution for this problem. The first solution may solve your problem, or you may need to try all of them to resolve the issue. For best results, perform the solutions in the order shown.
Solution 1: Wait for task to complete
If you see the busy cursor, you can continue to wait until the task completes.
If you do not want to wait or it appears the task will not complete, try Solution 2.
Solution 2: Have the user in the message exit QuickBooks
QuickBooks is trying to complete the task the user in the message first started. Have the user log out of QuickBooks or Exit QuickBooks completely.
If the user is having difficulty exiting QuickBooks, use the Window Task Manager utility to end the program.
Windows 7, Vista, XP, 2000, or NT

To open the Task Manager window, press Ctrl+Alt+Delete.
Click the Task List, Task Manager, or Start Task Manager button.
Select the Applications tab. This tab displays a list of all programs that are currently running.
Find QuickBooks. Note: It may appear as CompanyName - Intuit QuickBooks version.
Quit the program by selecting it from the list and then clicking the End Task button.
Click the Close (X) button in the upper right corner to close the Task Manager window.

All users should be able to log in and perform their regular activities in QuickBooks. If they receive the same error message, attempt Solution 3.
Solution 3: Troubleshoot Alternate Application Interference
Anti-Virus, Firewall or Encryption software installations have been known to interfere with the running of Quickbooks in certain instances.
Attempt to temporarily disable these programs and see if the error subsides or continues to happen. The process for this is dependent on the program(s) utilized by the customer, so consult the software provider for specific instructions in this process.
If the error still occurs with these programs disabled or the customer is not utilizing these programs, try starting Windows in Selective Start Up Mode to identify other possible application conflicts. If the error no longer occurs in Selective Startup, then you can infer there is an application conflict of some kind.
Solution 4: Create a new Quickbooks User (if only 1 user profile is continually referenced in the error)
There is a possibility that the Quickbooks User profile being used is corrupt, so Adding a New User profile and discontinuing the use of the affected user(s) may allow you to determine whether or not a specific user profile is the root cause of the issue.
If the error message no longer occurs with the new user profile, refrain from using the affected user in the future. If the error occurs with the new user profile, then it is not a corrupt user profile, and the user can return to the original login user.

I have had several people complaining that the new Yahoo Mail is terrible, boring and hard to read and separate. Just like the new Microsoft is boring and monochrome. It feels like T2 is not far off.

This is how you go back to classic.

Does your mail look like this?

You can go back to classic by going to the upper right corner of and clicking on the gear icon.
It looks like this.

Go to Viewing Email then choose the basic setting under Mail Version and save.

Now if you have issues with it not going back to your classic theme and your using internet explorer then make sure you add that site to your compatibility list like I did with this client. See the difference below.

PDF Repair Utility. Intuit has combined the separate versions into one installation package – you will be asked to select the year of QuickBooks you are working with. It is a little messy, as it leaves some files on your desktop, but that isn’t too big of a deal.

You may have a problem with access permissions to the “temp” folder in Windows. To fix this:

Press the Windows key + R to open the RUN command.

Type %TEMP% and press Enter.

Right-click an empty area of the temp folder, and choose Properties.

Make sure that all usernames and groups showing on the Security tab have Full Control.

Once the permissions have been set to Full Control, try saving as PDF again within QuickBooks.

SYMPTOMS

Even after installing Java, Applets do not run.

CAUSE

Java is not enabled in the web browser. If Java is already installed but applets do not work, you may need to enable Java through your web browser.

SOLUTION

Please follow these instructions to enable Java though your Web browser.

Browsers for Windows

Internet Explorer

Click Tools and then Internet Options
Select the Security tab, and select the Custom Level button
Scroll down to Scripting of Java applets
Make sure the Enable radio button is checked
Click OK to save your preference

Chrome

Enter about:plugins in the search field.
Scan for Java and check whether Java is enabled (if the Disable link appears, Java is already enabled)
Click on the Enable link (if available)
(Optional) Check the Always allowed box to stop additional Chrome warnings when running Java content

Start Mozilla Firefox browser or restart it if it is already running

Can't email from QuickBooks in Windows 7

Try this:

1. Right click on your Quickbooks startup exe file and open properties. 2. On the compatibility tab select compatibility mode and run this program in compatibility mode for Windows Vista (Service Pack 2).
3. On privilege level check "Run this program as administrator". Press Apply/OK to close properties.
4. Start - Devices and Printers - add a printer - add a local printer - create a new port - local port and name it QBD_PDF.
5. Choose to install AMYUNI Technologies - Amyuni Document Converter 300 (click windows update button if it is not on your list).
6. If windows detects you already have a driver then choose to replace current driver. Name the printer Quickbooks PDF Converter - do not share printer - do NOT set as default printer. Finish
7. Start - Devices and Printers - Right click your QB printer, choose Printer - Properties and go to the advanced tab.
8. Remove any check marks in the 4 items with square boxes next to them (bottom part of screen) then select "Print directly to the printer" Hit OK to close the window.
9. Restart you computer and open Quickbooks. Open File - Printer Setup and make sure Quickbooks PDF Converter is the selected printer for any PDF operation you use frequently. (on rare occasions you may not see the Quickbooks PDF Converter on the list, reboot again and you will get it).

You can now perform PDF operations in Quickbooks (works for 32 and 64 bit Windows 7 RC)

As an option until this is fixed, install cutepdf (it's free).

This will allow you to print to this driver (cutepdf) to create a pdf file that can then be emailed as needed.

Getting text message on phone and email

A client recently go a new Samsung Galaxy S4. I set up his exchange email account, which is through office 365. We noticed that he was receiving text messages on his phone as well as his email.

On the phone:

Open e-mail inbox go to settings, you will see your email address here with a tick
Press it and scroll down to "More Settings"
Scroll to "Sync SMS" and untick it.
