My Project Life/365/52 Pages for 2015 So Far!

I am back on the Project life/project 365/52! I didn't do it last year and i am so sad! I guess I will have to go back and catch up! But, for now I am going to keep up with my weekly layouts for 2015! So, I will share what I have so far as of today! Everything I use for my digi layouts is from GingerScraps.

Week One

Liquor Bouquet

Hi lovelies,
So...on Sunday we celebrated my daughter Kayla's 21st Birthday! We went to visit her and had a wonderful weekend :)

Since it was a "special" birthday I made her a really fun gift to celebrate her being "legal" LOL!

It's a Liquor Bouquet!

It was super fun and easy to make and really I didn't have to buy anything except the liquor and the shot glasses...everything else I pilfered out of my Mom's craft room and my stash :)

I used a basket, some floral foam, dowels, silver spray paint, black craft paint, gold and silver tissue paper, a feather boa, some cardboard that I cut into letters, some silver and gold curly ribbon, some silver sparkly do dads, a little wooden sign, hot glue and glue sticks, mini liquor bottles and shot glasses.

I just glued the little bottles and shot glasses onto some dowels with a hot glue gun and stuck them into some floral foam in the basket. Then added some feathers and other sparkly do dads and a little sign.
Kayla loved it :)

Hello Kitty Costume

Hey Ya’all! I just wanted to pop in a share with you my cute little Halloween costume. My friend Jen and I were Hello Kitty for Halloween. We made the costumes ourselves and it was super easy. Yes, I know Halloween is over but pin it now and use the idea later! Here I am in my cute Hello Kitty Costume.

It was really easy to throw together. We got a white t-shirt at Target for $6.00. Used some craft paint to paint the face on. Added a felt bow and the shirt is done! Then I made another felt bow and stuck it on a headband. Stuck on a pink TuTu which you can totally make super easy, we were lucky because our cheerleader had worn the pink tutus for Oct for Breast Cancer Awareness, so I just used one of theirs. I wore leggings underneith and my black Ugg boots, and some pearls and of course some eyelashes! I love eyelashes and Halloween is a good excuse to wear them! Oh and don’t forget red lipstick!

The rest of my family was not so cute..My daughter was a scary zombie, she got a nightgown at the goodwill and did all her own makeup! The contacts were her big splurge, but she will wear them again.

Creepy huh! She is like one of the characters from The Walking Dead!

My husband and 7 year old were Zombies too…

My 5 year old wanted to be a MotoX guy…so that was easy…lol. He just wore his riding gear!

I love Halloween.

Painted River Rocks

Hi friends! Sorry, I have been MIA…just busy with life. Crazy, fun..you know how it goes. I thought I better post something before everyone in the bloggy world forgets about me! LOL

So, I thought I would share my painted river rocks. I love river rocks. They are just so smooth and cool. I collect them, especially the heart shaped ones that my boys and I are sometimes lucky to find. I have always wanted to paint my rocks and I finally got around to painting a few of them. I have another heart shaped one in progress too. It’s super fun and therapeutic to me. Of course the boys get in on the act. I mean how can a 4 year old see paint and rocks and NOT join in right!

I don’t really use anything special to paint them, just your run of the mill acrylic craft paint and a spray varnish to finish them. Oh and I did some with fabric Mod Podged to them. That was really fun too. Just Mod Podge it on and after it dries spray a coat of the varnish! Easy right!

So, here they are, I hope you enjoy

This one is the fabric modpodged on the rock, and painted words.

These are also modpodged fabric with cute little red birdies on it, see my little quote from my favorite Bob Marley song on there “Three Little Birds…On my Doorstep” and yes, these rock ARE right on my doorstep

I painted this one for my friend Jen, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” was her and her hubs wedding song.

And one more, this one is right on my front porch, greeting all my friends that come by.

So, next time you go to the river, take your self a little bucket and collect some rocks! They are lot’s of fun!

Oh and take your camera too, you might capture some fun moments like these.

DIY Family Tree

Happy Friday! I have another quick post for you! Remember my Family Photo Wall I shared with you all a while back…well, I really wanted to make it into a “Family Tree” wall, but I didn’t really want to paint the tree on the wall…but then, while I was browsing around Target one day I say this wall decal. IT’s a tree! It says easy to apply and re-usable, removable, and hey it was only $19.95. I bought it!

It really was easy to apply, and it really was removable, because I moved a few leaves around.

So, here is the finished “Family Tree”……

I really love how it looks and I’m going to add more photos too! So fun and simple!

Good morning Beautiful, Hybrid Bathroom Wall Art!

I have a quick cute and easy project to share today.

I wanted a cute quote above my bathroom mirror. I looked in the craft store and saw this way cute wall decal that said “Goodmorning Beautiful” I thought that was so prefect for right above the bathroom mirror. But, did I really want to spend $11.99 on a decal…no, not me. So, instead I bought this plain piece of wood/sign blank for $1.99 and made my own!

First I painted the wood, then I antiqued it a bit with some antique gel (which both I already had).

Then I went to the computer and opened up some cute ALphas in Photoshop. I used The Chocolate and Marshmallows Alpha by, Jen Yurko. I resized them to the size I needed, printed them, cut them out, inked the edges with distress ink and mod podged them to the sign. I added a picture hanger to the back of the board and Ta-Da…all done!

So, for $1.99 I made a cute little sign..it could have been free if I had a piece of wood lying around! lol.

That’s it! A super quick and simple little project!

Old Window Wall Art

Hi! I’m here with another Pinterest Project! This is so fun.

So, I saw on Pinterest this wall art made with an old window.

Goodness it’s soooo cute. I totally followed the tut on the original posters blog.

I needed to make this for my bedroom! So, I did just that! I called my friend Kathy who makes art with old windows and asked if she had one she was not using…she did! Yea! Thanks Kathy!!

The colors in my bedroom are brown and teal…so those are the colors I used. And of course I made this a Hybrid project by just using my digital scrapbooking stash! I just found some digi papers that I liked and printed them in the sizes I needed for my window. All the papers I used were from the GingerScraps store. I love using my digi supplies like this!

So, here is my window. I also used some wooden knobs I already had, not as cute as the original posters knobs, but still cute. I glued buttons on the end of the knobs to make them a little more jazzy. I am one of those girls that likes to use what I have..not that I don’t like to go out and buy more goodies at the craft store…lol..but it gives me pleasure to use supplies I already have in my craft closet.

So, here is my window hanging right on my bedroom wall.

Now, I just need to make some more fun projects to hang all around it! I’m sure I will find lots of great ideas on Pinterest! LOL!

My Planner for 2012

Yes, it’s the beginning of a new year. Time to get organized right! Well, I am a planner girl. I know, a lot of you have foregone the paper planners and only use your smart phone calendars. I do have a smart phone..but I just need my planner! It goes with me everywhere. it’s in my purse. I write everything in it. It’s actually kind of fun to go back through my old planners and see what I had written..almost like a journal of my daily life!

So, of course it’s 2012. My old planner is tattered and full. Time for a fresh start! Yea! Fun! I know I could go and buy myself a planner, but it is much more fun to make your own! It’s so way cuter!

So here we go…time to share my 2012 planner!

Here is the planner in process.

Yes, that is my sewing machine. I wanted pocket pages, so I decided to sew them! That should be sturdy don’t cha think!

Here are the inside pages. I created templates for these planner pages you can find them in my shop at GingerScraps. The templates are totally customizable.

Just use any digi papers that you like, drag them into the layers in the template and print the pages back to back. You just have to do a few test prints to see how the pages come out of your printer. Once you get it all tested they printing a a breeze.

So, I was super excited to use my new Zutter Bind it All for my planner this year! I got it on sale too! With my Ben Franklin gift card Whoowhhoo! I am totally loving this new tool! It punches all the little holes for you and binds it all together with the wires. A few test punches with this and I was good to go. You could also use a small 3 ring binder, like I did last year.

Here is the cover. It’s my favorite part

I love pink and black! So, the zebra paper and the little rhinestone camera I also got at Ben Franklin. The rest of the papers and elements are digital and are in the kit Colors of My Life which you can find at GingerScraps. It is a buffet kit, so it is huge and a collaboration of a bunch of the GingerScraps designers. I’m using the same kit for my 365 project this year.

The cover is a piece of chipboard with the zebra paper on both sides. Then the cute little hybrid bit glued on the front. It is all Mod Podged to keep it sealed and protected. This little book has to be able to take my abuse for the whole year! And it turned out so cute, I won’t get bored of looking at it!

Now, I am totally ready to take on another busy, fun filled year of lots and lots of thing to do!

Recycled Book “Family” Banner!

Happy Thursday!! Today I actually have a cute little project to show you! I made this a while ago too and it is super easy but super cute, And multi-purpose too! And it didn’t cost me a cent, because I already had everything I needed laying around the house!

I love how it looks on my family photo wall!

But, not only that…it is so super cute when you take it off the wall and use it as a prop in your family portraits!

(I love it for my family and holiday photo sessions, like in this photo I took of the Zall Children)

I’m totally going to make some more with different sayings! They are so easy..

So, first step, find an old book, cut triangles out of the pages, you can do more than one page at once too!

Print out some letters in a cute font from you computer. I used PSE to resize my letters to the right size, but you can also use word or any other program you have.

Print…Cut…Glue to the triangles. Told you…Easy!

Now, take some string or ribbon, what ever you have. I like to tape the pieces to the string to really hold them on there.

Then add some mini clothespins! Done! Yea!! So cute!

We Made a Wind chime!

Good afternoon my crafty friends! I am so off schedule..I guess summer has it’s own special schedule right?! Any whooo…If you remember my summer fun list, which, by the way we have been checking those boxes off day by day! number 52 on the summer fun list was to make a wind chime.

Of course I had to browse Pinterest to get some fun ideas. I saw this wind chime using a plate as the top part. I thought, Perfect! I have these white lattice plates I bought over 12 years ago that are just calling out to be crafted. So the boys and I took a little trip to the Goodwill to pick up some spoons to make our chimes. I also found some cool clear beads in the craft section that were perfect for this project. Everything else I already had. Yea for cheap projects!

The boys and I got to work, we got out our trusty drill, I already had my little tiny drill bit in it from the last time I made scrabble tile necklaces. We drilled some holes through the spoons. It takes a while for the drill bit to go through the spoon, but eventually it goes through. Tyler helped me do the drilling. Travis just watched us..he didn’t really want to get any where near the drill…lol.

So, then we laid out our beads and spoons. I needed fishing line to string the beads and spoons on, so I snagged my hubby’s fishing pole. Shhhhh.

Now just tie your fishing line onto the spoon. I ties a few knots and make sure you paint the knot with some clear polish to hold it nice and strong.

Now, I kind of forgot to take pics while I was stringing the beads…lol..but you get the idea. Just string them on go all the way around and back through the bead and tie back near the hole in the spoon. Put nail polish on this knot too.

I also strung some polka dot ribbon thru my plate and up to the top to hang it. I didn’t really trust the fishing line to hold it, I thought the ribbon would be stronger, cuter too.

So here we are all done with our wind chime.

So, for just the price of a few thrift store spoons we now have a pretty wind chime to enjoy. I got some super cute colorful wooden beads at the thrift store too. I’m totally gonna make another wind chime!

Mmmmm Yummy Cheesy Bread!

Happy Monday! Today will be fun, and hopefully this will be an every Monday event! It’s a recipe blog train. These fabulous ladies will have some yummy goodness for you. So, when you just don’t know what to make for dinner…again…check these out!

Now, me I have been sooo busy this summer, my family is lucky to get dinner…just kidding! But we are doing a lot of throw this on the grill and eat it!

But, I do have this really yummy cheesy bread to share with you. I first had this while on vacation with my bff and her family way back in the day. I think I was like 14 or 15. Now, you know this must be good because it stuck in my head all those years! I knew my bff had the recipe so I just had to get it from her and start making it again..mmm..sooo good.

So, this is one of those no measure type things..lol..but here is what you need.

Mayo

Red Onion..I like to use my Pampered Chef Chopper! Love this tool! ( I sell Pampered Chef)

Cheese..Grated

A loaf of French Bread unsliced

So, just mix these things all together to make a spread..I know not really helpful with out measurements, but it’s ok, it will taste good.

Spread it on the bread..

Then stick it in the oven at like 350 and bake it till it’s nice and brown and melty and good. You can stick it under the broiler too to make it all brown and toasty!

Let it cool just a bit then slice and serve. Mmmm, so good with chicken or steak..or salad..Mmmm, good with anything!

Now, you have your bread, so go grab some other dinner ideas on the Monday recipe blog train! Come next monday for more!

July 4th Decorations You Can Make Yourself!

Happy Wednesday! I was the guest blogger on Saturday for Not Just a Housewife! I shared my July 4th Ribbon Lights, but wanted to share them here to just in case you missed them!
I am getting my house all ready for Independence Day! Our community has a big blow out every year, with golf cart parades, craft booths, fireworks! The whole she-bang! Of course all my friends and family come over and we all have a big potluck! Super fun. So, of course I gotta make some fun and inexpensive decorations for my house!
So, today I am showing you how to totally jazz up a set of plain white Christmas lights! All you need is a strand of white lights, which you probably already have packed away with your Christmas stuff, and some ribbon. I used red, white and blue ribbons which I got at the Dollar Store! 4 Yards of each color was what I used. But, of course if you want even more ribbon on your lights get more than 4 yards of each color.
So, first step is to cut your ribbons. I just cut them all at once. I cut them at about 9 to 10 inches each. I just eyeballed it. I cut the first one and then just held it up and cut the rest the same length.

Next step is to lay out your strand of lights.

Now you are just going to be tying your ribbons onto the lights. When I started I was tying 3 ribbons in between each light bulb. But I was running out or ribbons too fast and I really didn’t want to drive to town to get more ribbon! LOL! So, I switched it up and just tied on ribbon in between each bulb. I tied them on in order a red, then a white then a blue.

Just keep on tying until you run out of ribbon! This would be totally cute with strips of fabric too.
Now, just hang it up and plug it in! I looks totally cute! Way better than just plain white lights.

Of course I added some more fun stuff to my window. I actually keep a “clothesline” in this window all year round and change the theme for the different seasons. I just clip the different things up there on the line with cute little wooden mini clothespins.
I made this I Love USA Banner with some digital templates that I designed and some digital scrapbooking paper these are all available at GingerScraps. The best digital Scrapbooking site on the web! I love making hybrid projects. Which is where you use a mix of digital and tradition craft and scrapbooking supplies to create fun goodies. If you are a digi scrapper you need to try a hybrid project!

I added some Pinwheels too! It looks super cute. You can get a pinwheel template free in my shop at GingerScraps. Perfect if you want to use digital scrapbooking paper to make your pinwheels. I used traditional paper this time. But I have made them with digi paper lot’s of times. Both ways are super easy and fun!

Hybrid Tile Décor Step by Step

During the month of May the Candy Wrapper (Hybrid) Challenge at GingerScraps was to make a Hybrid Tile of some kind. I finished my tiles up right at the end of the moth and thought I would share them here with you all!

These are pretty easy to make, as long as you are not afraid of Mod Podge!

Here are the steps..

1. measure your tile

2. open a new file in your photo editing program the size of your tile.

3. Design your LO/Artwork for your tile

4. Print on matte photo paper (You can use tissue paper too, but I was afraid to try it)

5. trim the edges of your printed piece

6. ModPodge it to your tile, I like to paint the modpodge to the tile a little bit at a time and smooth it down real good to prevent bubbles. If you get a bubble here is a trick, I have a little Baker's Roller from Pampered Chef (I sell PC) The small side works great for smoothing out the bubbles. I’m sure there is some sort of crafting tool that does this, but I’m a use what you’ve got type girl! Let it dry for about 15 minutes.

7. add more layers of Modpodge on top. Let each coat dry before you put on another coat. I know I hate to wait for drying time too, but if you don’t wait you will get bubbles. You can ink the edges too if you like that look, I did on my second one.

8. Display and enjoy

I made two of them, this first one will be displayed at my daughter and nephews Graduation party this Friday.

Easy and Yummy Strawberry Dip

So, here is the story…every time my husbands side of the family get’s together with his Aunt Linda we all pig out. She is the best cook! She has this tiny little house and that woman knows how to cram like 20 people in there and feed us till we are stuffed and happy!

Now Aunt Linda has this famous Strawberry dip, every time we have a family get together someone always requests this yummy dip! You just can’t get enough of this stuff! so, one day hubs and I are just craving this dip..and I want to know how the heck she makes it so I can take it to some of my side of the family's get togethers. So, I call Aunt Linda (dude really, she is way better than Martha..lol) and ask her can I please have the recipe for you famous Strawberry dip. I need it!! she laughs at me and says..it’s only two ingredients …Yep, all this time we are craving it and waiting to go to aunt Linda's to get it and it’s that simple! Oh goodie!

Here is the “recipe”

Cream Cheese and Marshmallow Cream..that is it!

Let the cream cheese soften a little. Just set it out for a bit. Plop it in a bowl. Get your spoon or classic Scraper wet with warm water and scoop the marshmallow cream into the bowl. (The water help it come off the spreader or spoon better)

Mix it up real good with your mixer.

Wash and cut your strawberries…look how cute this one is, even the Strawberry loves this dip

Put it in a pretty bowl and serve! Dip and eat! Yumm-o!

You want some don’t you? ya, I knew it!

Free Cycle Desk Makeover

So, have you all heard of Free cycle? If you haven’t you should Google Free cycle for your town. It is great! It’s a group where the member post the stuff they don’t want of need anymore and they are all free for the taking. You can also post your needs and see if another member might just have what your need! It’s pretty darn great and keeps things from going to the dump! so, my daughter wanted a small desk for her room. I figured hey I might as well check free cycle before I go buy one. So, I check the page like once a day and up pops a desk. I contact the poster of the desk and no one has claimed it yet! yea! (That is one thing about free cycle, the good stuff get’s grabbed fast!) They send me a pic and I say yep I’ll take it! WE go pick it up. That’s it! Free Desk!

So of course the desk needs fixing up before it goes in Kayla’s room. That’s when hub’s and I went to work. Here is the desk before…

This is the pic the people who were giving away the desk sent me. Yes, it needed some work, but that didn’t scare me off. We sanded and painted, got some new pretty knobs, we added some fabric and batting to the drawers with a staple gun.

just spray glue on the batting and wrap the fabric around and staple. We put a few coats of glossy black paint on it, and covered the top with some really cool black and white vinyl fabric that matched her room. we added some gimp to finish off the edges of the vinyl. And even put some fun “eyelash” fabric on the sides for fun…the really good thing is that all the fabric we used my Mom already had in her shop They were left overs from our days of sewing for interior designers (before she retired, now that was a fun job) We already had the black paint, so the only thing we bought were the knobs!

So, here is now. in her room. I actually did this at Christmas time but never shared it on my blog

Here are the knobs, you can see once we wrapped the drawers in fabric, we just poked a hole and screwed the knobs in the holes that were already there form the old knobs. We just got the knobs at our local ACE hardware, they were only a few dollars each. The fabric is a black raw silk.

I think it turned out pretty chic and fabulous! Especially for being free

I hope this inspires you to make some old furniture into something new and wonderful, it just takes little imagination and elbow grease!

Day 3 of Show Your Teacher Some Love! I have Tyler's gift for today all wrapped up and ready to go! Now I just have to wake him up and get him off to school! Mornings and Tyler…those 2 things don’t mix well. Actually he has gotten way better since I started his “star Chart” He really wants to earn those stars! Positive reinforcement really does work!

So, what are we giving his teachers today you ask…Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub! I got this recipe over a year ago. I have made it tons of times. It mixes up super quick and I always have the ingredients on hand! So, it’s perfect for a quick little gift when you can’t run out and spend money Everyone loves it..I have a few asking for re-fills! I found this recipe on the blog Under the table dreaming. last night I didn’t even measure…lol..I just eyeballed it. It comes out perfect every time. Although I did finally use up all my lemon blossom essential oil sent, so I will have to get some more of that! it lasted me like like 10 years though! haha. It only takes a drop!

Anyway, here is Lemon Sugar Hand Scrub all done!

I had to wrap it up cute, and of course they are wrapped in tissue paper in the bags so they don’t get broken in Ty’s backpack!

I made some little bag labels and bag toppers. I used the kit Fresh Baked by, The gingerscraps designers and the bag topper template is in the hybrid birthday kit I made, in my creations by Julie store at gingerscraps.

This will be perfect for Ty’s kindergarten teachers! They work so hard with their hands doing all kinds of fun projects!

Family Photo Holder with Scrabble Tiles!

Today I pretty much cleaned the house all day. Even the boys room, that is always a real fun time. LOL. Travis and his Ninja helped me, so that was nice .

The house look nice and tidy and I felt the need to do some crafting. I pulled out some stuff I had laying around. I was looking for my Scrabble Tile stash to make a pendant. Then inspiration struck, well the Noggin channel that Travis was watching kind of helped. They are singing this “Family” song. “When your in my heart, your in my Family” lalala. The scrabble tiles, the song. They go together. So, time to make a mess.

These are the items I used in my little project today. I made the little heart real quick, oh and I used my trusty glue gun too.

Here is my cute little “Scrabble Tile Family Photo Holder.”

I put another felt heart I had made on another crafty day in one of the clothespins since it’s so cute for Valentines Day!

What do you think! Makes you want to go tear apart your scrabble game doesn’t it. I have 2 Scrabble games. I don’t play Scrabble, just buy them at Thrift Stores for crafty projects .

Oh and then, after I cleaned some more. I made these Yummy Smore’s Cups with my new Pampered Chef Mini Muffin Pan. I love this pan! I have been making the cutest little treats with it! I’m loving all my new Pampered Chef kitchen tools and gadgets. I made dinner last night and used my Food Chopper, Ultimate Madoline, and Stone Bar Pan! I made the Chicken Broccoli Braid. It is delish!

Check these yummy bits of goodness out. MMmmm. Of course I shared with my sister. Smore’s are her Fave!

Oh and Happy Ground Hog Day! Well, Yesterday was Ground Hog Day! An early spring is what Mr.Groundhog says! I hope he is right! I’m sick of winter. My toes are cold!

Home Made Play Doh!

Last week my sister gave me this huge tub of cool play doh toys that Chandler didn’t play with anymore. My little guys were so excited, but Travis was like “Where’s the Play Doh?” Now, I have bought Play Doh many times. The boys forget to put it back in the container and it dries up…or…Travis eats it…Ya I know…gross. lol What is with kids and eating Play Doh!

So, I decided instead of forking out the 15 buck for a pack of Play Doh, we would just make our own! Today we did just that and the boys loved it.

First we gathered our supplies…

2 cups warm water, 2 cups flour, 1 cup salt, 2 tablespoon vegetable oil and 1 tablespoon cream of tartar!

I didn’t have any Cream of Tartar, so I got a little from my Mom :)

Next mix it all together, once it is mixed put it on the stove over medium heat and stir, stir, stir.

The dough will begin to thicken. When the dough pulls away from the sides and clumps in the center pull it off the heat and plop it out onto a cutting board to cool.

Let it get nice and cool and then kneed it till its nice and smooth. Now you can add your colors. I had green, red and yellow food coloring, I have no idea what happened to the blue. But it doesn’t really matter anyway because the boy are going to end up mixing all the colors!

To mix in the colors, just make a little hole in the center and squirt it in. Then start Kneading it in, try not to color your hands too. :)

Now it’s time to play! fun! And if your kids sneak a little taste, it’s safe. Very salty…but no chemicals!

Fun with Felt and Flowers!

So, I have been having lots of fun lately! Playing with felt and making flowers. My boys are really into playing “kitchen” so I have been making them Felt “Food”

Here are my little projects…

I got the Donut Pattern Here.

I even use a Hybrid Template to make this Milk Carton. It’s by Krisi’s Creations and it’s from Scrap Matters. I just had to modify it a little bit for sewing.

I made some flowers too…

These are made out of Duct Tape! I love Duct Tape! I got the idea here.

These ones are from Tulle and Ribbon.

This one is Vintage lace, it looks so cute in my nieces hair.

So much fun! Loving it! There is so much inspiration out there on the web!

My next project is to make a Play Kitchen out of an old nightstand! Look at these! Awesome!

Grandma's Little Treasure Box

I made this for my Mom for Mothers Day! It was so fun to make. Its so small and sweet! I used Our Story by Kelly Mickus at The Digi Chick. Love that kit!

I made a necklace with the kit too...it was a prize on The Hybrid Chick.
