There's something about monkey dolls that draws you in. They're like humans, but not quite........

This little guy is made of a material called composition. It is a pressed, wood pulp which was originally billed as being unbreakable. Unfortunately, this material proved to be more fragile than the china and bisque dolls it was designed to replace.

If you'd like to horrify your shopping companions, simply go into an antique mall and purchase an old jar filled with various odd baby parts. I found this beauty in an antique mall in Lincoln, Nebraska. I think it has a certain artistic beauty just the way it is, so I have no immediate plans to change it!

Peanut Baby

The makers of this little celluloid doll went into great detail making the details on her body and face. They even put her in a sweet little peanut. Then, to give her a mouth, the just punched a hole in her face!!! A bit harsh, don't you think? At least her monkey friend doesn't seem to mind.

A rough little tin head whose face has taken on a somewhat rough, whitish color. Almost like a Kabuki performer gone bad. She still has a small, flowered diaper, lovingly put on by her little mommy long ago. Thankfully, she has a gargoyle friend looking out for her these days.

Evil Clown

What a lovely, comforting face. Who says clowns can give you nightmares? I'd feel much safer knowing he was watching over me, wouldn't you?

This evil beauty was made by the Schoenhut company. In the early part of the 20th century, Shoenhut produced a complete circus of these wooden toys, complete with performers, animals, tents, and other accessories.
