Gay Movie Director, Lee Daniels has the last laugh

I always tell my friends "The toes you step on today, maybe connected to the ass you'll have to kiss tomorrow. I'm sure Lee Daniels father is wishing he would have watched his "step" a bit more carefully now that his "gay" son has made good. There are few lives with more challenges than that of a black gay man or transsexual. Trying to gain acceptance, compassion and understanding (especially from the paternal figures) is next to impossible.

But as times change and ideals expand, hopefully there will be a sense of appreciation and dare I sat pride from the family members who have been blessed with GLBT members.

*Director Lee Daniels says he felt compelled to bring the story of child abuse to the big screen in "Precious" because it helped heal the scars from his own painful past.

The filmmaker has won critical acclaim for the movie, based on author Sapphire's book Push, about a pregnant teenager who is sexually abused by her father and subjected to physical beatings from her mother.

Child abuse victims Oprah Winfrey and director Tyler Perry were so moved by the film, they jumped on board as executive producers - and now Daniels, who is gay, reveals his motivation to make "Precious" a success is rooted in his own traumatizing experiences.

"My dad wanted me to be a strong man, and I was walking downstairs in my mother's red high-heeled pumps," he tells Vanity Fair magazine. "He couldn't beat it out of me... I made this movie to heal - and hopefully to heal others."

*Meanwhile, in other Lee Daniels related news, "Precious" broke into the top-10 as it expanded to more theaters after a huge debut in limited release the previous weekend.

Finishing at No. 4, "Precious" took in $6.1 million in ONLY 174 theaters, averaging $35,000 a cinema and raising its 10-day total to $8.9 million. That compared to a $19,095 average in 3,404 theaters for "2012."

Any mother who would do this to any child, let alone their own child is disturbed beyond a point of rehabilitation. I sincerely hope that this young girl is found healthy and alive. As for the mother...who cares what happens to her at this point?

The relationship between a mother and her child is a sacred bond. There is no more fierce creature in the world, whether animal or human, more protective than a mother. How, then, can one such creature blessed with a beautiful child betray that bond by allowing her child to be harmed?

It is this question that begs an answer, along with the whereabouts of five-year old Shaniya Nicole Davis.

Breaking news from CNN states that the mother of Shaniya, Antionette Nicole Davis, has been charged in the disappearance of her daughter. Among the charges filed against her are human trafficking, filing a false police report, and prostitution.

In addition, the man previously charged in the kidnapping of the little girl, Clarence Coe, has been cleared of that charge and released as the identification of the man in the video shown leaving the property has been positively made. For CNN details on this story, click here.

Did Antionette Davis sell her daughter to human traffickers? If so, why? How could a mother do such a thing to her child?

Transitioning is a hard thing to do but when the struggle is multiplied by working in testosterone driven environment such as law enforcement...if can be downright petrifying. But Joseph Grabowski, who is now Deborah Grabowski forged ahead in her effort to be comfortable in her own skin and in the process found that her fellow officers were a lot more understanding than she could have ever imagined.

After 17 years with the Dallas Police Department, Officer Joseph Grabowski showed up at work one day sporting makeup, a feminine hairstyle and a new first name: Deborah.

The 44-year-old officer was scared and relieved that the secret was finally out.

"I have always felt like a woman and, suddenly, everybody knew I was going to have the surgery to make it real," she said.

Because the city of Dallas does not offer health insurance coverage for sex-change operations, Grabowski paid for the costly procedure herself.

In recent years, a few cities – and a growing number of private employers – have decided to cover the cost of these surgeries, and the city of Fort Worth is considering whether to join them.

For a brief time in 2006, it was a minor curiosity that a Dallas policeman had become a policewoman. Co-workers had to learn to call Grabowski "Debbie" instead of "Joe."

The public didn't appear to notice, other than one woman who called to complain about a male officer wearing heavy makeup patrolling "in drag," Grabowski recalled.

"We did everything we could to make Debbie comfortable, and I think we did a good job," said Lt. Andy Harvey, a police department spokesman.

"There were no major issues. Joe was always a hard-working officer, and I think the same can be said of Debbie."

In other ways, the transition from Joe to Debbie was not so easy.

With no insurance coverage for the sex change, technically called sex-reassignment surgery, Grabowski had to save for years to pay for the series of surgeries and other procedures that ultimately cost nearly $80,000.

Sarah is riding high in High Society and changing perceptions while while making beautiful music for the uppercrust. Sarah has recently come out as a transgendered pianist and fortunately for Sarah its her art that takes center stage and not her gender identity.

IN September 1998, David Buechner, then 39, a prominent classical pianist, came out as a transgender woman, explaining that from then on, she would live and perform as Sara Davis Buechner. The pianist had been accustomed to rave reviews (at 24, David, in his New York City concert debut, was called “an extraordinary young artist” by a New York Times critic). But the debut as Sara, reported in a Times magazine article, was not so well received, even by loved ones.

Elizabeth and Anthony Buechner, the parents, as well as Matthew, the older brother, all expressed their opposition. In a recent interview, Matthew Buechner, a professor of molecular biosciences at the University of Kansas, said he had counseled David to remain a man publicly and cross-dress in private. “A lot of people live that kind of dichotomy,” Matthew said. “I saw the switch as something that would destroy a career. Classical audiences are very conservative.”

But Sara Buechner was determined to be. She said that from when she first took lessons at age 3, she knew she’d be a pianist, and not long after, realized she was meant to be a girl. (“On the playground, boys yelled ‘David’s a girl’ and I’d think, ‘You got that right.’ ”) She believed that bouts of heavy drinking and depression during her years as David stemmed from not being true to herself.

The case of the transsexual check writer

Now I ask you? Would this really be news if the person committing the crime was not alleged to be transgendered? How do they even know if the person involved is transgendered? It could be a cross-dresser or perhaps a man using drag as a disguise to commit the crimes. Because based on the photo below....I am not seeing a transsexual but I could be wrong?

DOVER -- Police are searching for an unidentified transgendered male in connection to a series of check fraud incidents.

The individual, a black male with a thin build and short hair, wore female clothes while cashing and depositing fraudulent checks at various banks in Delaware and southeast Pennsylvania.
