Sorry about being awol. I have been extremely busy testing out whypark, and have come to realize that it is kick ass, actually kick ass. I will write a whypark guide in the following month that I will sell using various services. I will however give it away for free to my loyal subscribers =) of course.

I know it says "daily reports" but that is a bit impossible at the moment. I apologize, but I will be updating more than I have been, but probably not daily.

Ok, so nothing from namepros yet. There seems to be a bit of a hassle in making threads. I will update you all if anything happens on that front. But as for now... I made a video about funny domain names that can be found on youtube or blip.tv.

I'm sure many of you have got bored, and decided to type in a stupid word or something funny and see if there was a domain. Most of the time you will find that these are parked sites. You can try it right now, type in a stupid word that comes to your head, then type .com and you will probably see a parked page.

Now you may be thinking, what the heck, why are people buying these domains? Well me too, but this for me seems similar to the google trends pattern of domaining. Probably the same people are buying these domains. Why? Because they are "type-in" domainers. They buy domains with a popular word, or something that they believe would have many type-ins. Like www.poo.com. The guy who parked that site is making a killing. It's a no brainer.

Should you domain like this? If you are going to become a domainer... then choose a style that suits you. If you are random and a bit crazy (or a lot like me)... then this is definitely a good way to go. Especially with the new TLD's

I'm going to go off on a bit of a tangent here. In my earlier posts i mentioned whypark, and that I got into their advertising system. Well I haven't been getting much traffic. But the payout per click is 37c. Which isn't too bad, at a click-thru rate of 6.25%

Day 6: Namepros

Ok first off I must say this forum is great. Just great. There is so much good information in the discussions here, I will try to sum it up in one post but for a true taste you must visit namepros.

The first thing I did when I decided to research namepros was search the term "whypark". I found an 8 page thread (I only read the first and last page due to time restraints). Ok, so what did this thread basically say about whypark? I was rather discouraged when I read the first page... there was quite a bit of talk about whypark being considered by google as a "bad neighbourhood" - which could possibly get you penalized or even have your adsense banned. In the earlier days of whypark there were quite a few people who got their adsense accounts banned. Not because they were a part of whypark however.. but because of click fraud (clicking on your own or friends ads).

So I decided to fast forward to page 8. I was relieved, much more positive talk about whypark. Clearly the whypark team have been working hard to reach their dream. The guy who posted this thread "l2ride55" is testing whypark's revenue generating quite ferociously, make sure if you choose whypark as your parking service then follow his posts at least.

Ok so that was just one thread out of thousands, obviously I am not going to go through all of them, if anything really outstanding pops up on namepros I will make sure I mention it. There is just so much content I cannot absorb all I want to :p
I aint complaining though, +1 to namepros!

Day 5 (part 2) - WhyPark

A couple of days ago I mentioned whypark.
I recently applied to use their integrated ads system. Yesterday I received an email from them =)

Day 5: A domaining phenomena

Hi again. I'm sure many of you have been bored and decided to type in a silly domain name to see whats on the other side. For instance... poo.com.

There are two phenomena I have found and many of you will have noticed as well. One is the silly name phenomena, and two is the google trends phenomena. Go ahead, type in a silly word as a domain name and 99% of the time it will be a parked site.

My theory on why people park names with silly names is because of human curiosity. Poo.com will definitely generate an amazing amount of traffic. I can imagine the resell value of this domain name can't be high... But, even though it is a dumb name... maybe because the revenue generated is quite serious, people should take these dumb domain names more seriously as a way of generating some kick ass money.

I have yet to see domain names like these listed however. I don't know exactly why this is. But it may be because people see a stupid name and they think it would be a stupid idea to purchase it. Or maybe the owners don't want to sell because the keyword is so valuable because of the amount of curiosity out there. Or maybe both are occurring. It is my personal opinion that these "stupid" parked domains are making the owner(s) a killing. Why? Simple: Curiosity.

Wow I cant find anything about this on google. All I find is domain name mistakes, nothing about purposely parking stupid domain names. I will be covering name pros before the end of the week, but next up is an update about whypark.

Day 4: Is Google Trends a useful tool for choosing a domain name?

Hi everyone, I've been looking at this quite closely over the past week. Whilst watching google trends and then typing in the most popular keyword(s) into the browser search bar (eg for the keyword "lolo Jones" I would type www.lolojones.com

Funnily enough, these sites are parked! So someone, someone out there must be parking sites via google trends. I wonder if this is profitable, and how profitable this is?
Well google shall hopefully shed some light on this.

Great. There is plenty of documentation on this. First I would like to make note of this article:

As it points out quite a bit of good information, although the most key information I found on this was the use of .cc with the most popular keywords (as shown in the google trends widget ive got on this site). I wouldn't bother trying to get a .com for the keywords as they are usually taken. I would advise to go to godaddy or whoever you like and type in the keyword you want as a domain name and search it. See what TLD's you can use with the keyword. Google Trends updates every hour and is a very useful tool! Do not under-estimate it. I've only been using it for a week but so far there is definately a good pattern of people using this (the proof is in checking the keywords in google trends then seeing if there is a .com for it.

Also in the beginning of this article he mentions www.namepros.com which is a social network forum with what looks like a heck of a lot of information, and members (2628 logged in right now). Look forward to more about namepros.com in my next post! I'm sure there will be heaps of high quality content/insights that I can inform you all about.

Day 3: My first site flip auction

Today I got a $3 bid for my domain, lol. It took a couple of days for google to verify the tracking code on www.freenegro.com so the over data tracking started late. For a parked site with a stupid name...the stats are actually very good. These are the stats for the first day:

78 Visits
263 Pageviews
3.37 pages/visits
1.28% bounce rate (surprisingly good for a parked site)
33 seconds average time on site (not so surprising lol)
97.44% new visits (kinda expected that)

Theres quite a few other stats but I don't want to go through them right now. If any of you think those are some good or bad stats for a parked site then please comment.

Also, on day 2 when I was reading brewsters blog, he mentioned a forum called seo blackhat

I was going to join, but, when I saw that it would cost me $100 for a month just to join the forums ( or 1,000 for a year) I decided to give it a pass. Why?

1) I'm already exhausting my funds by trial and error in this industry

2) No leaks are allowed on this forum, therefor that would be a bad investment as I would not be able to post any of the information i found on the forum to this blog. I would rather invest my time and money into building quality content for this forum, and into domaining.

I am sure that the forum has some awesome info, but I am just not ready for it yet. Maybe later in my journey I will explore seo blackhat.com

Day 2(part two): Dangerous TLD's

Hi again =) second post for the day.

I have done quite a bit of looking around today. Especially on blogcatalog
trying to find other domaining sites. I could only find 6 of them and 1 was dead. There should be some more blogs about site flipping im sure.

All 5 blogs I visited were great I must say =) I even subscribed to all of them. One interesting article I read had this quote about the most dangerous TLD's (i.e .com, and .org etc...):

Of all “.hk” sites McAfee tested, it flagged 19.2 percent as dangerous or potentially dangerous to visitors; it flagged 11.8 percent of “.cn” sites and 11.7 percent of “.info” sites that way.

A little more than 5 percent of the sites under the “.com” domain — the world’s most popular — were identified as dangerous.

More spammers, malicious code writers and other cybercriminals can establish an online presence when domain name registry businesses cut requirements for registering a site in order to boost their profit and profile. The report doesn’t identify domain name registration companies McAfee believes are responsible for those lapses.

Hundreds, perhaps thousands, of companies are in the business of registering domain names; some are large and well known, while others are small and less reputable, offering their services on the cheap and with flimsy or no background checks to lure in more customers.

The fact that Internet scam artists gravitate to domain name services with lower fees and fewer requirements isn’t new.

It's only a couple of days into my journey and I have learned so much already >.<>

EDIT: Yeah Site Flipping got me 4,000+ results :p much better than 6. Looks like I've got a lot of friends to make... busy busy =)

Day 2: I bought my first domain =D

Today I bought my first domain at godaddy the site is: freenegro.com Yeah i know the name is silly, but there are a lot of parked sites with silly names.

So, what has happened with this site so far? Well I site parked it with whypark.com and then placed two lots of my own adsense code that show up on every page. I then set up a channel for these ads on my google adsense account called "free negro". This channel has had 96 views and I think it has just about been 24 hours at the time of this post. If that can keep up... that would be 3,000 Unique visitors a month =)

Also, whypark allows you to add 20 keywords to your parked site so that it can generate relevant articles for you. I chose 10 of the most searched for "bigfoot" keywords using google adwords (Because bigfoot is quite popular on google trends at the moment). Then I chose 10 of the most expensive keywords as listed by SpyFu like conference calling, lawyers etc...

This was not the best idea, I probably should have used keywords based around negroes . Pretty obvious! But I decided to mix things up. Anyways, I have got quite a few visitors so far. And one way I am going to do to enhance the click-thru rate is probably change the keywords to negro-related keywords. Sure the payout may not be as great, but at least there should be more clicks.

I also listed my site on sitepoint with a reserve of $1 and a minimum bid of $1. Sure the domain cost me $20 but hopefully these low numbers will help attract more bidders, and will hopefully give me good feedback so I can learn more about this site flipping business.My First Auction

Day 1: My first day in the domaining world

Hi there, my name is Ben Bravery and today I decided to embark on the domaining journey. First let me describe to you what i think domaining is at this point in time. There are two main aspects of Domaining:

1) Site Flipping - This is where you buy a domain name e.g. sex.com for something like 8 to 20 dollars. Then when people realize how useful this name would be in creating a site with content similar to the title, there will be a demand and people will bid for your domain name. So now something worth a few dollars like sex.com was, and then sell for 12million dollars... Just like sex.com did.

2) Site Parking - This is where you can test how much traffic and how much natural revenue a domain name can make. If a good domain name is chosen this site can get some nice continuous revenue from ads placed by parking companies. You can park for free with companies such as sedo parking, I don't know how much % of the ad revenue you get from them, but when you pay 3$ a month for parking with godaddy you get 60-80%ad revenue depending how much you want to spend monthly on having your site parked. I stumbled upon a site called whypark.com which offers parking for 100% and you can have up to 100 domains. The difference is that you place whatever ads you wish to on their and you get 100% of the commission, and these parked sites can have a lot of content depending on the keywords you associate with your parked domain.

The first thing I did was sign up to a ning social network called SiteRev5.com . Theres about 300 people in this community at the moment and I am just starting to get to know them.. Should be fun =) and a great learning experience.

Anyways, the first domain i have paid for is a bit of a silly name but i figured it would be worth testing. The domain is www.freenegro.com and it cost me $20 us to register for 2 years. I then parked it with whypark.com and placed google adsense on it, it has 100+ articles on it that were put up their by whypark.com

I also found a site called nametumbler.com I haven't used it yet. But it sounds great for coming up with domain names to park. I will post more about nametumbler tomorrow probably.
