Since the launch of Juice Mag, I’ve been playing the editor role myself but to be honest, I don’t enjoy it and I’m not that good at it either! So hopefully I can find someone with experience, enthusiasm and drive to take the magazine to the next level.

The new editor will be responsible for all aspects of content (text, images, captions and headings), managing a handful of enthusiastic writers, generating ideas for content creation, proof reading and working with the design team.

Anyway, it’s kind of cool to be able to add quick links to cool things I find on the web, brag about my poker winnings along with a few thoughts that wouldn’t warrant a blog post here.

I’ve also got each member of my team to sign up and have set a requirement for the non speaking English staff to send 5 tweets per day (yeah, in English) - I’m sure they think I’m evil, but they’ll thank me in 6 months.

If you don’t know what twitter is, it’s basically a micro blogging app whereby you only have 140 characters to write a post with. You can follow others and their latest posts will get displayed within your feed. If that didn’t make sense, check this video out.

Finally joined in the Twitter buzz

You can easily fix this with a new tool I’ve come across called Senu’s Link Sleuth.

Here is a screen shot of the software in action:

Yes, it looks very basic but it certainly does the job of crawling every URL on your domain, finding the links and then checking the page/file you link to see if it’s broken, very well. For example, it checked 2011 URL’s on this blog and reported a 370 broken links links that need checking. I’ve fount that you’ll need to double check the links as some are okay when opening them up in a browser, apparently this is due to the sites server configuration.

You can export the data in tab format (.txt) (ctrl+T), then once saved locally open the document using Microsoft Excel to easily manage fixing the links - This will certainly help me as I can now import this into Google Docs and work through the list when I have spare time (and then will have to run the program again on hundreds of other sites )

I’m often asked what SEO tools I use, and I’ve always not used that many - I think a lot of the tools out their give you stats but don’t actually do anything to help your SEO efforts. Apart from using some search commands in Google, Yahoo Site Explorer and Keyword Tracker, this is another I’ll be using.

Find broken links on your web pages : Free tool

According to Nobuyuki Hayashi, a tech reporter based in Tokyo, the iPhone in Japan will be sold with a loud shutter sound when taking images, even if you put the phone in silent mode. The reason behind this is to try and prevent the ever growing problem of voyeurs taking up-skirt pics in public places.

As far as I’m aware, voyeurism isn’t that big in Thailand - The sexpats and Thai guys want the whole furburger, rather than just a bite. However there is one problem that is growing here, and that is guys secretly filming their sexual encounters on their phones and then distributing the home made movies on the net. There is even a film about this very subject that I unexpectedly watched at the cinema a few months back.

I wonder if Thailand will follow Japan and add a shutter sound when the video function is activated?

Can the iphone stop perverts in Asia? Of course not!

I’ve been a keen poker player for around 8 years and one of the things I miss most from home is sitting round a table with some friends playing one of the best skilled based games in the world: Poker.

As gambling is illegal in Thailand, the poker circuits that are here are very risky to play or get involved in. I know of circuits in Bangkok, Pattaya and Phuket but you’ll need to find these out yourself But be warned, if you were to get caught, you’d better have a lot of tea money or you’d find yourself inside a small dingy room with a few nut-cases for a while.

The big poker sites do work here in Thailand, but it’s worth remembering to register your account in your home country as the last thing you want is for your poker provider to deny your winnings due to being located here (I’m not sure they would do that, but it’s not worth the biscuit is it?)

So, let’s talk about where you can play poker legally in Asia… your best bet (no pun intended) if you are based in Thailand is to head over to Macau. You have the Poker Stars poker room located in the Grand Waldo Casino that offer both cash games and tournaments. I hear the surroundings and service, as you’d expect from Poker Stars management, is very good. You also have the option to play texas hold ‘em in The Grand Lisboa Casino (no link, I couldn’t find the web site) that has cash games 24 hours per day. Air Asia fly to Macau direct from Bangkok at very reasonable fairs (from 1,000฿) making Macau the most viable option to get a few hands in from Bangkok.

There are also a couple of places that offer Texas Hold ‘Em in Manila, located in the Hyatt hotel and Casino and the Manila Metro Card Club.

Although poker is illegal in Japan, there are many home based games in Tokyo which are advertised on Japan Poker League (which is sadly only available in Japanese)

If you find yourself in South Korea, you may want to check out the Walker Hill Casino for Hold ‘em.

If you are a high roller, you’ll find the following poker tournaments that operate throughout Asia of interest:

There you have it, a complete round up of Poker in Asia (to the best of my knowledge)… as you can see, there’s very little action in Asia but I’m pretty sure this will change over the next few years. I’ve got a trip planned to Macau as soon as I’m able to take some time off work so I’ll write an in-depth guide then.

TechCrunch covers start ups and internet businesses, they are often first to break industry leading stories, the content is very well written and what can I say, I’m in the start up business myself so I find it fascinating to learn about new ideas and projects people are working on.

I Can Has Cheez Burger published pictures of cats with funny captions. Seriously, if you don’t find the images/captions very funny, we probably don’t share the same sense of humor as myself. Even when I was feeling really poorly last week with a cold, this site still managed to make me laugh out loud.

why do people listen to this guy so much? He sold a company to AOL for 30 million and suddenly becomes super internet star.

Then he started a wikipedia knockoff/SEO play called mahalo(which no one uses).

I suppose he’s good at making noise. He seems to be more busy trying to show his face everywhere rather than running a company.

This commenter answered his own question as to why people listen to “this guy”:

He sold a company for $30million - Come on dude, 30 fucking million! I don’t know about you, but I consider $30million for a project a HUGE success!

He’s starting new projects - This is what I really admire about this guy. He’s not sitting on a yacht drinking ice tea, he’s busy working on new projects - He’s got the get up and go that so many people lack.

He’s good at making noise - And that’s a bad thing? Come on…

He’s more busy trying to show his face… PR baby, it’s a powerful tool.
