Many of these processes can be potentially automated with your email marketing system. If they can’t be automated manually follow each of these steps every 3-6 months depending on how much email you send. The more frequent you send the more often you should clean your list.

Suppress Typo’s and Fake Emails

Look for and suppress any email subscribers whose email addresses are either fake, typos, or group emails. Here are examples:

jacob@alo.com

jacob@yaho.com

noreply@domain.com

sales@domain.com

921837dsf@hotmail.com

test@

anything@test.com

Remove soft and hard bounces

If your email marketing client doesn’t do this for you fire them immediately. Continued sending to bounced email addresses is a sure fire way to get your email domain and IP address black listed.

Remove any spam@ email addresses

Its true and its that simple. Search for email addresses like: spam@domain.com. Somehow these seem to make it onto your list every once in awhile… especially if you don’t double opt-in subscribers.

Use FBL to remove unsubscribes and complaints

Ensure that your email marketing system is using feedback loops to remove subscribers from your contact lists when they hit the SPAM button in their email client to complain about your emails.

Drop and Re-Engage inactive subscribers

If you have contacts that haven’t opened your emails in months… you are not doing yourself any favors by keeping them on the list. Remove them from your core list and move them to a re-engagement list that will ask them, with quite direct language, to start opening your emails and re-engaging with your content. If they don’t… drop them for good.

Dear MyEmailProgram user I’m please to announce that today we successfully rolled out another feature for all our users. Now, when you are on your email campaign page or looking at your autoresponders, you can group them into folders. This is intended to help you organize your emails and make them easier to find.

If you want to start using the folder view first click on the folder icon at the top of the screen:

Next click on the folder icon with the plus symbol. A window will pop up where you can give your folder a name.

Now you can click and drag any of your emails into that folder.

Please let me know if you have any questions!

Avoid the morning purge. The first thing people do in the morning when checking email is to delete about half of all the unread emails in their inbox. All of the stuff they are subscribed to that they just don’t feel they have the time to review first thing in the morning in their rush to get going. Don’t send your emails first thing in the morning… wait until after that first purge. Where possible better control this by individual time zone.

Our admin team has rolled out new advanced triggers which give you increased ways to automate the delivery of email and management of contacts across your lists.

Yesterday August 9th was an exciting day for MyEmailProgram.com users. Our admin team has rolled out new advanced triggers which give you increased ways to automate the delivery of email and management of contacts across your lists.

Triggers, which have always been a part of the MyEmailProgram application, allow you to create if/then statements that automate tasks. For example, if you wanted to automatically send an email to a contact on their birthday you were able to do that by creating a trigger where the If statement was “On the date in the birthday date field” and the Then statement was “Send the Happy Birthday Email Campaign.”

Prior to the update you could fire a trigger with the following if statements:

Based on Contact Date Field (contact list)

Based on Specific Date

Based on a link being clicked in an email campaign

Based on an email campaign being opened

With the new advanced triggers you can also fire campaigns based on these if statements:

Based on Contact Date Field in a segment

Based on a subscription to contact list

Based on a subscription to a segment

Based on an autoresponder being opened

Based on a link being clicked in a autoresponder

The same then statements remain as have always previous existed which are:

Send an email campaign

Add the contact to an additional list(s)

Remove the contact from the contact list that they are in

So this creates a lot of new options. For example you may have a specific opt-in form on your website that you want to have contacts added to two unique contact lists. The first list being very specific to that website or product but the second list being your more broad and complete contact list. Before this would have been very difficult to arrange but now you can create a trigger that will run everytime someone is added to list A and will automatically add them to list B for you. You can also now run triggers based on autoresponders being opened or links within autoresponders being clicked on.

Login to your email program and look for both the basic and advanced trigger options in the autoresponder menu.
