He's sensitive (allergic to nuts). I just thought he had come out of his "I'm the perfect baby" stage and realized he had a voice, but little did I know the poor guy was in pain and uncomfortable. So I cut out nuts (which by the way are 3/4 of my diet I think) And that fixed him most of the way. When I couldn't figure out what was still bothering him I decided on the total elimination diet (chicken and rice only for a bit and then slowly adding things back in) Oh.. And spark (because unless vital to his well being I am not willing to give up the only thing that helps me not feel like a zombie) and boy... If you ever need motivation not to cheat on a diet, do it for someone who depends on you, knowing that one little cheat may cost you a full night of sleep. With 2 kids a full night sleep is pretty important.....

It was tough.....

And then....

I started to feel better and better and better.

And then....

I woke up 2 days ago and put on (and buttoned) a pair of pants that I couldn't get past my thighs after Andrew... One of the best feelings in the world

and then...

I stepped on the scale and had lost 5lbs in a week.

So the just of the story is... I am delighted and surprised to find out that many of the things in my diet, things that are considered healthy are the things that have been dragging me down and making me feel bad. I am excited to continue on this journey, not only to enjoy my new baby (who is happy most of the time now) but to learn more about myself and to put more in my bank of health knowledge so I can continue to encourage and inspire others to take control of their health and their life. I am currently walking a path I never knew I could walk, and I'm doing it with a sense of accomplishment and pride. Here's to continuing to discover myself and my potential.

I found out I was pregnant with baby #2 last summer, and I was super excited. I was really excited to see the difference that eating healthy, being active, partnered with AdvoCare could make in a pregnancy. The beginning of the pregnancy went great, I felt fantastic. Other than the emotional roller coaster this little man put us through at the beginning (facing the possibility of having a baby with special needs and/or one that might not survive) I felt great physically. Then the 24 week mark hit, and my blood pressures started creeping up. I kept going with my exercise and feeling, ok. Then at almost 33 weeks I found out my blood pressure was super high and I was in pre term labor. I was put on meds that made me feel horrible and also put on restricted activity... which means... no working out... So after almost 3 weeks of bed rest little man decided to come 4 weeks and 1 day early. He's perfectly healthy (praise God) and although I didn't get to experience the fit, active, healthy pregnancy I had hoped for, I'm thankful everything went as well as it did.

After delivery I felt fantastic, my body really was ready to be done being pregnant. However.... That was the week that almost did me in... I had baby Drew on Monday morning, went home Wednesday, my 2 year old had her tonsils out on Thursday and came home from the hospital on Friday. Luckily we were blessed with help from my MIL who came to stay with us for 2 weeks. From Friday to the next Saturday we were recovering from tonsil surgery, which meant lots of crying and pain, meds were a bear and had to be taken every 4 hours, drinks every hour, drops in ears 3 times a day and waking up every hour or two during the night. On top of that we had a newborn who was just figuring out how to nurse, so he was up every 2 hours eating for an hour. Needless to say mommy didn't get much sleep.... I feel like all my time was spent nursing, changing diapers, giving hugs, then nursing again.

As we end the recovery phase and everyone seems to be on the mend, it's time again to get back on the horse and start the journey to getting active and healthy. Its' been hard eating a good diet with very little sleep and very little time to prepare meals. Thankfully our support system has blessed us with meals and we are sooooo grateful.

As I start my journey to losing my baby weight and getting active again I will be continuing my AdvoCare supplements (the ones that are safe for nursing), walking (eventually running and training for a half marathon in November), doing Zumba, and doing AdvoCare's Can you 24 workout videos. I would love encouragement and prayers, but most of all I would love to have anyone who is ready to take hold of their health, increase their activity level, and transform the way they look, feel, and perform to come along side me and partner your journey with mine.

I'm starting from scratch, working my way up from walking. If I can do it then you can do it too. It's easier to do with accountability. Who is willing to join me and experience what a new you can look and feel like?

Well let's start with the obvious. 2013 is going to bring about great change in our lives. We are starting off with a bang and instead of a 24 day challenge with AdvoCare we are doing the new 72 day challenge involving the new workout DVD. I'm pumped about this mostly because at my last ob appointment I found out that I gained 10lbs in a month. I guess the holidays got ahold of me to say the least. I haven't been feeling so stellar so I'm so excited to get recommitted to my health and to see what true health and wellness can do for a pregnancy. Speaking of pregnancy, baby BOY is coming in May and he is HEALTHY and I would like to keep it that way and give him as much nutrition and health as I can while I have complete control over what enters his little developing body. An unborn child is such an amazing gift and it has really hit me in the last few days I'm the only person in the world that can impact his development and I want to give him the best not only after he has entered this world but while he is growing and getting ready. May will be a big month. And the other adventure for this year is COMMITTING to running my 4th half marathon in November. I'm so excited to once again see what taking care of myself and working out through pregnancy can do for getting back on the horse after the baby is here. A half marathon is a HUGE commitment but I'm ready (ps I always love running partners. Nate will be training and running as well. We would LOVE to have a large group of people committed to run with us so let us know if you would like to join us)

The other excitement for 2013 is of course our AdvoCare business. Most of you know that this is our passion. Our desire is to help change lives and help people realize what they are capable of. I am speechless as I look back to 2012 and the number of people who decided to jump in and change their lives, health, and circumstances. Nate and I together lost 84 lbs, felt better than we ever imagined, and we paid off enough debt to cut our 4 or 5 year plan down to a 2-3 year plan (and if things go as we are praying a 1 year plan) The idea of being debt free and truly realizing what financial freedom is excites me so much. I also get the privilege of cutting down my hours at work to spend more time with Ava the last few months of my pregnancy and becoming a (mostly) stay at home mom once this baby comes. AdvocCare has changed our lives in unspeakable ways and is helping us change the lives of others. God has blessed us with an opportunity to help people dream again and see it is possible to live the life that you once dreamed of. 2013 is going to be GREAT. Yes there will be roadblocks and bumps, but the God of the universe is on our side and will help us through the valleys as well as help us celebrate the "hills" After all you can't make a rainbow without a little rain. If you are ready to join people who love to dream and are fired up to change lives we'd love to have you come along side us on this journey (it's been an awesome one) as we find out just what God has in store for 2013=0)

I pray all of you have a fantastic 2013 and a safe and happy New Year

New Year New __________

Can you believe it's December already? It's so hard to comprehend since especially here in Indiana it's been in the 50's and 60's every day. As I sit here getting ready for work, doing my devotions and reading about how Jerimiah didn't believe that he could do the things God asked of him and I read a challenge from Joyce Myer to accept the purpose God gives to you, quit saying you can't and ask for strength, I begin to think about where I am and what I am being called to.

To think of where you are you have to think of where you've been, so I begin to think about this past year as it winds down and, man has it been a crazy one..... From January and getting 12 people started on the 24 day challenge to Febuary and realizing we had a 1 year old. To the Spring and the explosion of people that we encountered and made a part of our lives. To July and going to Success School and not only being challenged in my Advocare business, but challenged in my Faith and challeged to humble myself and seek out where people are and where in their lives I can serve them. August brought the challenge of getting struck by lightning and living in a hotel really realizing the basics of what our small family needed. The Fall has brought lots of challenges and celebrations. Finding out we are expecting another baby, waiting to find out if that baby will be healthy or have some medical issues (praise the LORD it will be healthy) Lots of growing in both Faith and relationships. The last month or so has been a month of total humility realizing that I have to pour into others more than myself to feel as though I am serving God fully. My marriage has grown, my relationship with Ava has grown and my business has grown.

Seeing all the challenges and the periods of growth make me so excited for the possibilities in the next year. January 1st is like pushing the reset button and this year I refuse to do what hasn't worked any other year. I will devise a new plan, I will be diligent in carrying it out, and I will see results. My fill in the blank for New Year New _____________ Is new year, new possiblities, I'm so excited to see where new levels of commitment and new phases of life will take my family. Here's to a fantastic and SPARKling 2013

I am incredibly exicted to track this pregnancy and compare it to my last one before I began to actually take care of my body.

I hope everyone has a great day.

I don't have much time to chat tonight so I will say a quick hello and catch you up a little on my crazy life. I'm still working full time as a labor and delivery nurse which I love. Our Advocare business is going fantastic and is allowing me to cut down to part time in January and very part time in May. I love helping people and serving people so the last year of being a nurse and changing lives through Advocare has been amazing. The little lady is almost 2 and is a bigger blessing than I could every imagine. I never imagined a little creature adding so much life and exitement to our lives. We are having so much fun watching her grow, and I'm so thankful that I have found how to live a healthy life and I feel good enough to fully enjoy her and participate in her life. The last big thing is.... after a little scare of the possibility of some serious issues we found out earlier this week we are having a HEALTHY baby in May. God has blessed my family beyond belief and I cannot wait to get back to sharing my journey with others.

Stay tuned, buckle up, and join me for this ride called life =0)

A yellow is someone who is motivated by relationships, building and maintaining, and by making an impact in others lives. Over the last week, I have been quickly shown that this is true.

This week has been a week! I have had so much fun, and I'm exhausted....

To begin I have to remind you that 2012 is the year that Nate and I committed to dedication and hard work in both of our side businesses in order to lay the foundation to change the course of our family's future. Until this week that seemed to be exciting, but overwhelming to me because it was going to be a year of a lot of work. A lot of fun also but a lot of work. And then the last few days happened....

Over the course of the last few days I heard so many comments about how these opportunities were going to change people's lives. I heard excitement about having other options for making money and making ends meet, I heard comments like "Tonight at Zumba I felt like a spider monkey on Mt. Dew, I think I'm going to like Spark and Catalyst" I heard from a friend who has tried everything to gain control of her weight and lifestyle and her weight is down for the first time and she feels great, I talked a little with a friend who's best friend is criticizing what she is doing but who has seen a change in just 3 days and is incredibly excited, I saw my husband take his leftover Mt. Dew to work and give it away because he doesn't want it anymore... the list goes on and on.

I have never seen Nate so fired up and passionate and happy about anything since we have been married and I love it! And yesterday I reconnected with an old friend and realized, that this is what life is about. It's about loving on people and feeding into them. It's about changing lives and being excited about God's purpose and kingdome on this earth and it's about helping people.

I love my job and I love helping babies come into this world, but I have always felt like there's something that I'm missing in my purpose and my calling, and through the last few days I feel like God has opened the flood gates and shown me that I have a passion to be personally and deeply involved in helping people change their lives and He has given me two vehicles to allow that to happen.

So the ending point of this loooong post? The year that I thought was going to be a ton of "work" has transformed over the last few days into the year that I will get to live out my purpose, build my passion and change lives.. if that's not exciting I don't know what is =0)

What is defining you?

So I sat down to do some work on the computer tonight and to shell out some encouragement to some of my new team members and I read a fellow blogger's post and I just had to reply.

Maren posted a revelation she is having during her journey to weight loss. She is discovering that what the scale says does not define you. That being fat does not have to mean being unhappy.

I want to talk about that a little bit because I have discovered through my Advocare journey that one thing I love to do is to help people discover that they can do things that they never thought possible. I have helping people take hold of their life and their health and begin a journey to feeling great, looking great, and having control over something that they once thought was "just normal" I have seen so many smiles and so much excitement this week my heart just sings with joy. One of the biggest things that I want to emphasize and encourage anyone who is on a journey to health (be it with Advocare or not) to do is to make sure you are taking the time to enjoy the journey. I would encourage you to realize that if you are unhappy with who you are now you will be unhappy with who you are 50lbs from now. Losing weight and being healthy is great, but it doesn't make all problems go away. Maren talked about building yourself up and enjoying who you are becoming. That's a great idea, every day tell yourself what you like about yourself. Even if it is a bad day, find something. Through the journey make sure you become mentally and physically fit.

I have learned through my journey that you will never feel "thin enough" there will always be room for improvement in your mind. That is why you have to enjoy the journey, because it never ends.... There will always be more weight to lose, or a muscle to tone, or a size to get to. Your mental attitude will determine weather you enjoy the journey or if you are always frustrated. Trust those around you, build yourself up and take it one day at a time =0)

Good luck to all on your journey, I'd love to hear from you.

So needless to say this week hasn't been the best. I kind of threw working out out the window and haven't done the best at eating.. really I haven't done the best at actually eating... it gets to be 4pm and I realize that my meal replacement shake is all I've had all day... not the best habit.

But here we are back at a moment when it's time to get back on track, start over, so here's the plan:

1. Easing my way back into working out by starting with some phase 1 insanity videos and then getting back to phase 2

2. new eating plan of planning out snacks for every 3 hours all day and just bypassing the large meals... that way i will actually get some nutrition and calories when I"m overloaded at work

3. I'm going to start at the beginning and I'm hosting/doing another 24 day challenge starting on Leap day! what a better day to "Leap" back into health. (if anyone is interested in doing it with me let me know. head over to my Advocare site and choosethechallenge.com to take a look and let me know) I'm going to focus and get the rest of my weight/inches off before swimsuit season!

With focus and intention we can do anything!

Thanks for following all and let me know that you stopped by and how you are doing on meeting your goals!

Just a few highlights of the last week(ish). I started labor training at work which means I've gone from working 3 12 hour shifts to working 2 8's and 2 12's which doesn't sound like a lot of change but it is REALLY taxing mentally. I'm also working on planning a 1st birthday party for my little peanut (who just got sick) and my husband and I have been pouring into our side businesses. We are making big goals for 2012 and doing everything we can to reach them (which is wonderful, but really tiring at times)

So on the SCC challenge:
Best moment of the week: In the midst of my frustrations measuring myself and realizing I lost 27 3/4 inches since Sept

Not so great moment: this weekend I haven't eaten really well and kind of feel crummy=0(

not really any funny stories

Are you where you hoped you would be on this journey? I am actually farther that I thought I would be physically, I have also seen a lot of personal growth in myself over the last 6 weeks so... i guess the answer is yes =0)

Would you like a buddy? I think it would be fun =0)

I would like to chat but no promises when I am on...

Goals of the week stay the same... Eat well, no extra carbs or sugar, continue water and working out 6 out of 7 days.

Mini challange: I'm pretty good with water all the time except for my 2 Sparks a day (because I have to have my energy)

Have a great week everyone

The MEASURE of success

So this is for all the frustrated people out there that may be like me. I have this routine (habit) that I have gotten into that tends to mess with my mind. I get up EVERY morning and step on the scale. And pretty much since October I've gotten up EVERY morning and said "dang it!" I've wondered what's happening? I am working out and eating well and doing everything possible to lose weight but I've stayed in the range of 3 lb for 4 months. I can tend to get VERY frustrated.

However, last night I learned the importance of non scale victories and measurements of success. Yesterday was a big day for me in really seeing that the hard work I'm doing is paying off and here's why:

Insanity fit test yesterday: Every number went up from 2 weeks ago and I felt great doing it (I also went on to do a 60 min workout after for a total of 80 min of insanity... holy cow)

The biggest victory of the day yesterday was last night though. I decided to have my husband measure me since I've been pretty frustrated lately I wanted to see if anything has changed and.... Since September I've lost about 13 lb (really I lost all of that in the 24 day challenge) so that's not incredibly exciting to me, however I'm down 27 3/4 inches on my body! Since Oct I haven't lost a lb, but I've lost 15 inches. I'd say that's what you call progress =0)

So girls when you get frustrated with the scale remember the value of measurements and progress pictures because it's really not about what that darn scale says it's about how you look and how you feel.

When you fall, get back up and try again, "this time next year you will be wishing you would have started a year ago", so take it every day/hour/min/second at a time whatever you need and let's do this thing!

Back on track and ready to hit it hard..

Not that I've gotten off track, but I'm heading into month 2 of insanity and now's the time to turn up the heat. Watching everything that goes into my mouth, taking my supplements, drinking a TON of water and giving it all I have with phase 2 is sooooo exciting. I'm so ready to see what month 2 has to bring. I've been at a plateau for about 2 weeks now so I'm ready to get the scale moving down. Week 4 is going to be a GREAT and monumental week for my Spring Chick Challenge, I'm gonna get my body revved up and getting strong and in shape!

A cool opportunity

So, my husband and I are part of a really neat travel company. There has been a lot of buzz with people around me wondering what it is so I thought I would share this with you. For the next 8 weeks you have a cool chance to find out. World Ventures is giving away 1 trip a week for 8 weeks for watching a short video that introduces you to the company . Go to http://nathanhines.windreamtrips.com/ and fill in your (accurate) information and watch the video. You will then be entered to win one of the vacations. The best part is that if one of you guys win a trip, we win it also =0). Anyone is welcome no matter who you are.
As I sit here I can't help but reflect on my life and on all the changes that have happened in the last few years (that probably comes from the HUGE change happening at work on Tuesday... I start labor training... for 12 weeks I will be on orientation again, learning again, out of my comfort zone... again) The last year alone has been a learning curve getting out of school, learning my job, learning how to be a mom, continuing to learn to be a wife, and starting a side business (well starting one and helping Nate with the other). I feel like my life has been a giant learning curve and as I settle in, it starts again...... Don't get me wrong, I love the excitement it's fun... just overwhelming sometimes.

Outside of work I think about how much I have changed in the last year. I really enjoy my role as a mom and every day is an adventure, I never imagined it would be this fun. I also am loving being a wife and learning more every day how to pray for Nate and how to speak into his life in the way that matters and makes sense. The biggest change I am starting to realize (as I sit here and drink my smoothie and get prepared to work out) is how much I care about my health, and taking care of my body. A few years ago I hated to work out, I ate nothing healthy, and I was tired and unhealthy. Over the last 4 moths since I began to explore the Advocare lifestyle I have come to understand the beauty of taking care of your body, feeding it what our bodies were intended to be fed, and saying no to all the junk around me. It is an amazing feeling when your body feels "clean" on the inside and when you don't feel sluggish and heavy. If you would have told me last year that I would be on day 25 of insanity on January 21 I would have told you that you were crazy, I can't do that type of crazy exercise.. and I would have been wrong... I'm addicted and I LOVE how my body feels each day as it gets stronger. Even if the scale doesn't drop I feel amazing and I can keep up with the baby all day without a problem.

Anyway that was the long way of saying, it's not always easy but it is ALWAYS worth taking care of your body and living each day intentionally. When you get older and look back on your life it won't be the things you did that you regret it will be the things you didn't do... and I don't want to regret not doing anything....

Happy weekend all!

Great start to the morning

This morning I got on the scale and after staying at the same weight (to the 10th of a pound) for 5 days I was down 1 lb!!! What a great morning! I wanted to post a pic of my breakfast because it is by far the best breakfast ever.

Week 3 goals:
Reorder my supplements... I'm out of my vitamin strip packs and feeling it

keep up insanity with 100% intensity.. my muscles are getting burnt out so it's hard to do the workout full throttle

post my pictures... I took week 1-3 pics and forgot to post them

Challenge: NO sweets this week.... I'm limiting my sweets and have done a great job at not really eating any and just a bite if I do (I find lots of sugar makes me feel kinda crappy)

and last but not least, my diet has kind of gone off course and I need to get back to my clean eating.

I'm still at the same weight but notice my pants getting looser in the legs so I'm seeing progress =0)

Have a great week girls and keep updated

So today was day 20 of insanity! 1/3 of the way there. I am amazed how it is changing my body like I never imagined and how good it is making me feel. While doing the workouts of course I'm not saying that. I'm usually cursing the tv in my mind and saying I hate every moment of it. Thanks to my Spark and Rehydrate I have the energy to get through the workout.

Spring Chick Callengers here is a quick update

1. I have done FANTASTIC on my goal of working out and not missing an insanity. We did skip cardio recovery Saturday but it was a much needed break.

2. I haven't reached my NSV of going down 2 pant sizes but my cloths are definitely fitting better=0)

3. I have been drinking my water

4. I have been MUCH better at taking my supplements on time. I can't wait to get my MNS C in the mail so I can start back up on my strip pack. It is amazing how much of a difference putting in supplements to fill your nutritional gaps can make you feel. I didn't really notice it until I wasn't taking them regularly. Yay for being healthy.

5. I've been visiting most of your blogs I just haven't commented on them in a while... I promise I will get better at it this week.

6. I started a Bible reading plan to read my Bible in a year and I have done great at staying on top of that.

Overall I am kind of on a mountain right now and trying to stay there. I know there will be valleys and I will get through them. Keep up the good work everyone and stay motivated.

Rough few days

This week has been, to say the least, draining...

I started it off by working 3 12 hour shifts in a row.. that in and of itself is exhausting. This week was very rough at work also. I am proud of myself that even though I was exhausted I didn't miss a beat with insanity. I did it every day (except Tuesday which is rest day)

To add to it, on Wednesday there was a little (ok so really big) scare with my dad and his health. I never wavered on believing in the company and the product that I sell even though that isn't the stance everyone took. I had some really encouraging moments and some really discouraging moments. I discovered strength I didn't know I had and God really laid peace on my heart. The timing that God provided and the safety for my dad is just amazing and I am so thankful and blessed to have him with us each day. The ups and downs and work and stress and exhaustion just wiped me out. Last night as I came home I felt beat down and just overwhelmed....

And like always... when I was at and extreme low God swept in and showed up (like the AMAZING God He is) Last night I found out that I had hit advisor level in my Advocare business (which was my goal for January) And today we got blessed with another gift that was way beyond our imagination.

Tonight I went to a meeting with the amazing leaders on my Advocare team and just got reaffirmed and encouraged that I am on the path that God has laid out, this is my puropse, this is my passion and this year is going to be legendary in our family, in our faith, in our health , and in our pocket book. I'm trusting God to do big things this year and I am confident he will provide.

Ok Spring chick challengers here's my update for the week:

1. I have not missed a day with insanity! My pants are looser and today at work there were many people who didn't recognize me because of my new shape. I did get on the scale today and I haven't lost any weight, but my body is definitely reshaping and it is a FANTASTIC feeling! Keep up all the good work.

2. I have been drinking my crazy amounts of water and it is amazing

3. I failed today with the eating and I ate Taco Bell... I know gross right? But that's ok tomorrow is another day.

4. through the stress I have been pretty good at staying on my Advocare supplements. I definitely love my spark for energy and continue to be diligent with my catalyst and thermoplus

Alright time to go to bed to recover from a rough week and tomorrow starts 4 days with my husband AND baby!!! that never happens for that many days in a row.

I hope you are all doing well and keep up the good work

1/6th of the way there

Day 10 of insanity done... what a day. Husband had to drag me out of bed (even though I get so mad I'm thankful for him and his persistence) We both had a little bit of a rough start.. now is the time when our bodies are starting to wear out and burn out. Now is the time to push. Today was cardio circuit and it was rough... but we did it. Keep pushing through. 1/6th of the way doesn't sound that far but it lets me know I'm making progress. I take pictures about every3-4 days and I have def. seen a difference, I can't wait to see what 60 days holds =0) I'll post 1/2 way pics in a few weeks.

On another note, I don't think I'm eating enough calories in a day. I haven't tracked them (definitely not meeting that goal) but at the end of the day when I think back, I might be shorting my goal intake for the amount of working out I'm doing... so the goal of the next few days is revamping the diet.

I'm so excited! I have 8 people starting the 24 day challenge today and tomorrow for the New Year, New you contest. I'm so pumped to see my team take major strides toward their weight loss goals, gain a ton of energy, and just head down the path of getting healthy. Keep watching for stats on how it's going throughout the next 24 days and at the beginning of Feb we will be announcing the winner=0) I love how much momentum the new year has with people trying Advocare for the first time, with the Spring Chick Challenge and just seeing so many people determined and ready to change their lives makes me sooo excited and motivated to keep on track. 26 more pounds to go =0)

Happy Friday everyone!
