So, um, I miss you. :/
This is sort of a guilty post.
Hopefully, by the ending of reading this you'll forgive my absence.

I took some time off from blogging not because I wanted to, but because other important matters took over.
There were videos I became fond of -- that I so badly wanted to post -- but I just couldn't find the time.

I notice that my writing has become a bit sloppy. Some months ago, it was much easier for me to quickly log my thoughts. Now, I have to stop and think about how to arrange these sentences. Therefore, regular blogging is beneficial after all.

Summer was boring -- I was preparing for some life changes you'll soon read below.

:::SEPTEMBER:::
So, September came and with it brought another Fall semester. I was still enrolled at City Tech as a Web Design major. This semester I opted to be a full-time student. Moreover, I applied for financial aid and was approved (or so I thought). Along I went with registration and chose:
Spanish 101: ¡Apúntate!: Español Introductorio.

Wed Design 1: InterAct with Web Standards
Information Architecture: Information Architecture for the World Wide Web

The classes seemed easy enough to maneuver. I was set on another straight "A" semester.
Little did I know that it would be met with so many distractions.
In the begin I was trying my best to readjust to college life while maintaining a job. I complained to no one, but I was secretly exhausted and struggling to joggle both. From the beginning of the semester we were swamped with assignments. Each week we were given tasks to complete and hand in. I didn't even find the time to make my "Labour Day Outfit" :( Nor did I get to partake in that particular weekend activities.
Due to this sudden change, my diet began to suffer. Furthermore, I almost lost my job because I began arriving late or too tired to perform at a fast pace. Most mornings met me at 5AM. Then a few hours of sleep, to wake at 7:15AM, to get to work for 8:30AM. My boss was flexible enough to alloy me an extended morning of 10:30AM.

:::OCTOBER:::
I tried my best to stay on top of things.

1st week:
I received a letter from FAFSA claiming that I did not qualify. That sort a put a downer on my mood. I sank a little and began wondering how was I ever going to pay off that bill; being that I wouldn't be able to do it on my own. Still, I complained to no one. I took it all in strides. I held my head up high and kept pushing. Secretly, I was weeping on the inside. Moreover, I felt lonely, like there wasn't anyone I could trust to share this with. Outwardly, I remained friendly as ever, cheering up many and lending an ear, as I trotted along.

To add salt to my wounds, I lost my best friend of over 20+ years -- no, he didn't die -- he just delete me from his Facebook friend's list -- due to this stupid video upload altercation.
That really hurt me. I missed him everyday. But I was too busy with school to solve that matter. So, I decided to put it off till the end of the semester. Hopefully, we'd both be alive by then and we wouldn't have to live with the regrets over something so trivial.

2nd week:
I ended up in the hospital w/ gastroenteritis.
[I don't really feel hungry until my stomach starts rumbling]
Monday/Wednesday: Work 10:30AM to 5PM. Spend lunchtime doing homework. [I mostly drank tea and nibbled on snacks throughout the day -- once home, I would eat a hearty dinner]. Then, I do homework till 5AM.

Tuesday/Thursday: I wake around 9AM to do homework. Get ready around 12 -- head out around 12:30/1PM to reach to my first class at 2:30PM. This class ends at 3:45PM. My next class didn't start till 6PM. So, I usually spend that time in the library engrossed with more homework. Next class, 6PM, that's when I start feeling hungry. Since I can't venture too far, I usually grab Lipton ice tea and a bag of chips from the vending machine. Class ends around 9PM. Reach home at 10:30PM. Eat dinner. Do homework till 5AM.

Friday: Similar start as Tuesday/Thursday. But, back to back classes from 2:30 - 5:45 to 6 - 9PM. Eat more crap from vending machine (Lipton ice tea and a bag of chips). Reach home at 10:30PM. Eat dinner. SLEEP!

Did I mention -- no breakfast. Well, yeah -- no breakfast.

Due to my bad eating habits I was attacked with an extremely, severe, and gut-wrenching pain. The pain was so bad that I began crying for my mommy in the hospital (at which point I regressed). I didn't care who heard me, all I knew I wanted her security.

3rd Week:
We moved the following week. Which happened to be midterms week as well. Every night while studying, I'd take a break to help my mom pack and clean up. Fortunately, I still manage to pass all my classes.

Last week:
I received the worse news above all. I was so upset and beside myself that I almost packed my bags and called it quits on my eduction journey in America and return to my homeland. The rain didn't help either, the only purpose it served was masking my tears as I sat in the park sobbing.

Finally, someone in a very high position for a very lucrative company (which could actually cost them their job title/lifestyle) made themselves known. Apparently, they were quite fond of me and wanted to navigate (navigate is used here -- trying to keep it PG) their muscular hydrostat all over my body. :/

:::NOVEMBER:::
There was this crazy ass, ridicules, cutlass (machete) episode that I shall not elaborate on. Only to mention that it changed the dynamic and the way I saw this situation. The dynamic was intensified to the point where it became uncomfortable. The atmosphere was stiff and unaccommodating. Thus, I seldom my frequency (not sure if I could write like this -- but it sounds cool to me). I was literally caught in the middle of this HIGHLY PATHETIC dispute with a machete swinging in my face. At which point I realized that my life&goals were WAY F*CKING more important than trying to reason or make peace.

Thanksgiving weekend came and so did my brothers. My oldest flew in from North Carolina and my second to youngest came home from Stony Brooks college. I was quite happy to see them both and share the day with them.

:::DECEMBER:::
I was already down in the dumps and was so not looking forward to December. Actually, I was sort of afraid of what to come. For it seemed like each month the situation accelerated to another level. December 1st also marked the day that FIT revealed their newly accepted. I waited till Friday 2nd, at the end of class to check my status. First, I scrolled through their Facebook page and saw that a few newly accepted were posting pictures. Which cemented my perception that the bulletin had begun. Then, in glee, I logged on to "myFIT" and saw that it still showed "Not Yet Entered". Well, you can imagine what happened next. The stupid smile vanished and tears replaced it's place. I cried myself to sleep that night. Not that I slept very well; I tossed, turned, and at times woke to stare blankly at the ceiling. I pretty much had had it. I didn't know what else could transpire. Nor, did I know how much more I could take. I contemplated many horrible thoughts. But in the end, I told myself to just finish my Web Design degree and "Try Again". ~shrugs~ On Saturday, I decided to confirm their decision by checking my inbox. Once more -- like a bipolar -- my mood swiftly snapped into "jackass glory".
There it was -- all I saw was "CONGRATULATIONS!" and I began screaming -- then crying -- then screaming -- then laughing -- then grinning -- all at once.

"Congratulations once again on your acceptance. Attached, please find a pdf copy of your FIT transfer credit evaluation."

So, I am an official FIT student. Spring 2012. Fashion Design major.
Time to paint the town CRAZY!

Hard work and dedication truly pays off.
If at first you don't succeed, pick yourself up and TRY AGAIN!

This was actually my second time. The first time, I was accepted. But, I was placed on the waiting list. The admission department was waiting on my high school transcript from my home country. Unfortunately, it arrived way too late - spaces were filled. I was sort of hurt by this too and I almost didn't reapply. But, I was persuaded to give it another try. I sorta felt like maybe I wasn't good enough. Who am I kidding? My stuff were probably pieces of crap in their eyes. It feels good knowing that I am actually worthy of gracing these halls. I honestly can't wait. This is the beginning.

Above all, my bff and I made up. It was great to share things with him again. Secrets that I wouldn't dare share with anyone.

So, to all those who don't believe in themselves and get a bit down. Take it from me -- just give it one more "TRY". I am hoping that this post reaches one person. (Yes, I am very much a humanitarian.) ;)

I was heading to the store to remove the security device from this hat I bought.
In my right hand, I was merrily talking with my oldest sister via the cellular phone.
In my left hand, I carried the bright yellow plastic bag from Forever 21.

I only cross the street to venture onto the next block.
When midway through a couple existed from their car along with their half-breed pit bull.
I was sort of distracted by my conversation.
But instantly, it registered that the dog was running towards me.
My chest caved in and my breathing tightened.
I place the yellow bag in front of me -- in hopes of the "Bull & Red cloth" effect.
Sadly, it didn't work -- the dog was vigilantly bolting full fledged in my direction.

I started to panic -- 21 million escape thoughts raced through my mind.
But none seemed to fully develop -- I was too petrified to move.
I stood there as my brain took in the prance as this massive dog jumped on me.
Instantly, my delayed fear-of-flight kicked in.
OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG!
I turned around in a circle hoping it would stop.
OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG!
But the persistent dog kept jumping up on me.
OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG!
I turned with my eyes closed.
OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG - OMG!
I didn't realize how much I was turning until I heard a car screeching to a halt.
I'd turn all the way to the middle of the street.
I peeped out to see that the owners were just standing there looking.
MAKE IT STOOOOOOOOOP!
GET IT OFF! GET IT OFF! GET IT OFFFFFF!
At which point I burst out scream-crying.
GET IT OFF-HEH-HEH-HEHHHH!
Only then did the owner see it fit to slowly jug up and gentle pull the dog away [no apologies].
I discontinued my original path, turned around, and existed the block shaking with tears rolling down my face...
Crying-sobbing like a toddler...
Repeatedly muttering: "get it off"

[I complete forgot that I was on the phone with my sis -- I only realized when I heard her screaming to get my attention through the phone]

Therefore, the name is a collective combination of their suggestion... I wanted to go with ((("Authentic Cunnilingus Shoe Wash... [Spit & Span]"))) -- but it would be too complicated to remember :(...

So there I was, minding my own business, in my seat on the train.
Reading ads that zoomed by and passively listening to the repetitive announcements again.
When I noticed the guy across from me, laughing awkwardly, and staring down yonder.
WTH could it be, I wonder.
So, I proceeded to follow his eye's path and was amazed at what I saw.
There it was, in plain sight, was a man sitting quietly next to the middle door.
Ferociously polishing his Sunday's best, like nothing was wrong.
Dumbfounded when he took off his shoes and began washing it with his tongue.
A wise and clever passenger, could not think it unfair.
For me to take out my camera and start recording right there.
And that's exactly what I did.
It surely served him right.
You can't expect to spit and clean that shoe.
And don't expect a small red light.

So I created a new YouTube account in hopes of this becoming a cool summer side project and onward as to how well it takes off...

We met at college. It's always a joy having good friends. Even better, they are willing to help in time of need.

While at college, they were some of the selected few that I strive to be. I observed their work ethics and wanted to be as good or even "better than" **wink** They pushed me to create only outstanding work. Especially Gustavo, he was a very tough critique. If my designs were not up to par, he would definitely let me know. I am really happy for him.

After the shoot, we hang out for a bit. We spoke about how we each journeyed from an island in the Caribbean (separated from each other) with different degree expectations. But somehow we found the Graphic Design major. This was pleasing to the ears. Mainly because being a gifted child on an island filled with lawyer/doctor oriented kids is not always the most accepting or tolerable experience.

Ninh Nguyen Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection

Guess what???
I attended my first fashion show this past New York Fashion Week (2011 / Feb 10-17). And I was ever so pleased to be popped by this amazing New York based menswear designer, Ninh Nguyen. Must admit, at first I was a bit intimidated by the crowd, for I didn't quite know what to expect. I'd heard rumours that the Fashion world could be snobbish. However, that wasn't the case. My nerves kept me smiling at everyone I met and in turn I received warm responses. Everyone seemed filled with enthusiasm to be surrounded by like-minded individuals, a share interest of Fashion. Besides, who wouldn't want to be surrounded by such an elite group. Bloggers, Fashionistas, Stylist, Artist, Designers, Models, Socialites, etc. That made the jitters disappear. Great crowd, great atmosphere. Furthermore, as I ventured onward through the fields of guest my attention shifted to main reason for my attendance. I was solely engross with the collection and somewhere along the line my love of design took over and nothing else mattered.

Apparently, I wasn't the only one having a first time moment. For this was actually the designers debut; with his highly anticipated Autumn/Winter 2011 collection launching, held Saturday February the 12th, 2011. Additionally, there was a fashion installation and Charity art auction. Being a designer, more importantly a child who spent most of her youth drawing her playtime away; I spent some time apart from the crowd admiring the artwork inspired by the NINH line that hung eye level on the walls, running parallel the Hudson River.

[As a new designer, Ninh Nguyen wanted to incorporate art with fashion for a good cause. This project included 25 different artists from around the world in a small collaboration with NINH. We asked each artist to produce a special illustration based on the NINH Autumn/Winter '11/12 Collection, in which these illustrations were auctioned and proceeds went to charity. ] - http://www.ninhnguyen.co/artists-collaboration

The NINH collection was housed in a private events loft [Michelson Studio] located in the meatpacking district - West Village, New York, to a strictly invite-only crowd. Overall, I was delighted to be sharing this moment with such a exuberant great looking crowd. Appealing music boomed from the speakers. There was an open bar and I sipped on red wine. Bags were stuffed with goodies. One of which was a free eye shadow by Emani Minerals. I also took some time to admire the building's layout. It would be a pleasure to shoot here someday. The sink to wash your hands after using the latrine also captured my attention.

This collection was highly inspired by official professional men uniforms. As I walked across the room and examined each piece I was captivated by the jewelry and impeccable detailing of the jackets. Each were very bold and I imagined men who were super comfortable in their skin, loved fashion and had a keen sense of style wearing them. Ninh said that he design for the modern day renaissance man. Someone who is confident, intellectual, open-minded, cultural, and passionate. He did not disappoint nor left me feeling empty. I can't wait to see his next collection.

It was my sister's birthday the other day. And this is what I made for her. I specifically made it because she received a MacBook Pro for Christmas. So, I thought it would be ideal to make her a bag. I even added a plastic lining for extra protection. This plastic lining was mom's idea.

King Tappa & Kymi - I Should Have Known Better Video

Finally, it's available.
This is my first ever studio recorded song.

On January, 2010 I uploaded the Don't Know Why by Norah Jones Cover and King Tappa heard it. He said he liked my voice; he advised to take my singing seriously and stop joking around. He asked if I was ever interested in recording. At the time I was just doing these videos for fun. I was pretty much in play mode. Just testing out to see how many people would actually liked my vocal range, because it's so, well you know ---- different (heh-heh-heh nervous laugh). You know how people are with things that are not that common. So, I told him no, not really. He said that he had no time to waste, that he only wanted to work with serious people. So, I went on my merry way recording my silly videos. Actually, I personally wasn't ready. Insecurities crept in, tormented by possible dislike. When it's just having fun, that's fine but, once it's professional I couldn't hide behind that playful wall anymore. Furthermore, I thought it unfair to waste his time.

Throughout the year, I continued to upload silly videos and by October I decided to start taking my life along with this singing thing seriously. I wrote and told him that I was ready. He said to give him a few days to go through his stack. However, within those few days the colleges that I applied for sent me their required portfolio applications. I wasted no time to dive in and solely focus on completing those projects.

November came around and with my applications sent off, I was able to devote myself to singing once more. He asked what style of music I usually go for.

Very diverse, a little bit of everything actually. However, if I could mix all these together; [[[Alternative, Rock, Punk Rock, Jazz, Soul, Swing, Oldies, Techno, Bhangra, Bouyon, Zouk, Reggae]]] that would be awesomez. ;)

He said that I should extend my unique vocals to see how it would sound on something that wasn't originally for it's genre.

The search was on.

December came and I decided that it was time to do another cover (F* Me Pumps by Amy Winehouse). I couldn't believe that the year was almost over and I did not post anything since from the Norah Jones Cover back in January. Once again, I uploaded it and surprisingly most liked it.

A few days later King Tappa sent me a possible project that we could work on. He recorded the first verse and told me that I would do the second. I also had freedom to write my own lyrics. At the time I was going through somewhat of breakup and it just flowed easily. It's basically how I felt at the time. I actually laughed when I first heard the song. It was so parallel to my personal life. Irony.

I was in one of those moods (this is where I sign off) where I just couldn't be bothered, tired of the merry-go-round-the-mulberry-bush.

So the lyrics pretty much wrote itself.

I was like [yeah, yeah, yeah, blah, blah, blah] a little too late buddy. ;)

Recording with King Tappa was very intimidating. He was so professional. I felt like a amateur next to him. Fortunately, he guided me along so, that made my first time a bit easy. I actually liked it. Looking forward to this experience again. Yey!

iTunes Album Art (King Tappa)

This is my latest freelance project.
I designed three (3) iTunes Album Art Covers for King Tappa.
Approximation: it took me a span of two (2) days.
In case you're looking for the size (600X600) is an ideal, although some have used (1000x1000).
They are for his latest singles, now available on iTunes:

King Tappa: (Let's Party) on iTunes

My fave is 'Hey Girl'
I kept it on repeat while designing all three.
They are all party songs, so I opted for a techno/retro - like feel for the designs, in accordance to the genre.
Moreover, I tried to grab the feel of the song.
You may have noticed that there's an image on his iTunes page for Let's Party. That's because I created two versions. I preferred the typographic version, he liked the other. nuff said

This is one of my favourite tune right now.
This song came on and it instantly hit me like a ripe breadfruit falling from the tree.
I think I learn the lyrics in less than three (3) days. But who's counting...???
That's just how much I love this song. If I grow enough balls I'll do a cover for my Youtube Channel. ;)

Update: Genie Halloween Costume (2009)

Hey guys, this is an update of the photo-manipulation for the (Genie Halloween Costume 2009) in details + recap post.

The first version was hurried. My main concern was to post about the costume I made for Halloween 2009. However, while editing I had a somewhat great idea to include a surreal- like genie execution. Why not?

I might do a different version.

WineCork Earrings

Just thought you might like to know. ;)

I obtained this cork from my brother. There I was, bringing in the New Year with my family in N. Carolina. He popped the cork, I caught it, and my half tipsy brain decided to keep it to make an earring. They weren't too sure about the idea. But, it was so clear to me. **shrugs** (different strokes for different folks)

The process was simple and straight forward, nothing out of the ordinary of jewelry making. At first, I wasn't going to cut it. I was going to wear it only in one ear. However, the long version just didn't look right. No biggie, I could always make more.

I like this project. Planning on doing different variations.

Will probably add feathers on my next attempt.

Who knows, maybe with some feathers, it just might.

How To Build A Facebook Landing Page

This is my Facebook Landing Tab.

This tut will be very simple.

Step One:

Create artwork of your choice. I used Adobe Illustrator to create mine.

The best size for a Facebook Landing Page is 770px width X 450px height.

However, I used 617 X 475. Play around with similar guidelines. It all depends on what works best for you.

Also, come up with clever ways of reminding new visitors to click 'LIKE'.

Step Two:

Upload your image. I used Google Picasa.

(If you do not have an account, there's always Photobucket.)

Step Three:

Go to the lower right side.

Click '[Link To This Photo]'.

Select '[Original Size]'.

Click '[Hide Album Link]': (to keep your album private).

Step Three 1/2:

Copy (Ctrl + C) content inside '[Embed Image]'.

Step Four:

Go to Facebook.

Click '[Edit Page]' (located under your Profile Picture).

Step Five:

Click '[Apps]'

Step Six:

Scroll down.

Click '[Browse More Applications >>]'

Step Seven:

Search for '[Static FBML]'

FBML means Facebook Markup Language.

Step Eight:

There are a few. I Chose '[Static FBML]'

Click '[Add To My Page]'

Step Eight 1/2:

A dialog box will appear -- choose '' next to your 'Page'.

Step Nine:

Go back to your 'Page'.

Once again -- Click: '[Edit Page]'

Step Nine 1/2:

Click '[Apps]'

Look for '[Welcome! - FBML]'

Step Nine 3/4:

Click '[Go To App]'

Step Ten:

Paste (Ctrl + V) '[Embed Image]' Content from Picasa into the '[FBML]' section.

You can change the '[Title]'. Some like to change it to their business name. Or, you can leave it. Beside, it's a nice way of welcoming new fans.

You can also play around with the link. I chose to redirect it to my blog.

Lacey Doux Banner

Another friend in the design world asked me to create a banner for her new store on Big Cartel: Lacey Doux.
:::Coming Soon::: (She was waiting on the banner). ;)
Really cute undies at affordable prices.
Visit her store. Support locals.
The name Lacey Doux sort of inspired the illustration and typography.
I played around with the 'X' to mimic a head rest.
Hope it was a success.
