A fairy riding on a bee,
Or hiding in a tiny flower;
That would be sweet at any hour!

I Believe I'm a Fairy

I swear I'm a fairy,
I know that I am,
Believe I believe it
As much as I can.

My wings are of gossamer,
Heart filled with light,
I flutter about
In the day and the night.

Are you also a fairy,
Do you glimmer and shine,
Inside you are magic,
Eyes twinkle and shine?

Dance in the twilight
Fairies hither and yon;
Fill up this world
With the one that's beyond!

Fairy Magic on a Dreary Day

Clouds hide the sunshine,
And make the sky gray,
I wish that old north wind
Would blow them away.
On this cold, gloomy morning
There is nothing to do;
I really want something
Surprising and new.
Oh, for some playmates
Or a dazzling toy
To fill me with wonder,
And laughter, and joy;
Perhaps some wee fairies
To flitter and fly
Around me with magic
As the hours go by;
I'd hold them so gently
In my very own hands
While they whisked me away
To whimsical lands.
We'd play hide and seek
In the funnest of places,
With twinkling eyes
And big smiles on our faces.
Just thinking about it
Has made me quite glad,
So full of amazement -
I just cannot be sad
While thinking of fairies
And magical things
Like bright little fairies
With shimmering wings!
It feels radiantly cozy,
The warmth that's inside
My own imagination
When my mind opens wide!

The Fairy Rhyme

Once upon a time
I wrote a fairy rhyme -
It sparkled and it gleamed,
Or so to me it seemed;
But when the tale was o’er
I found it such a bore.
‘Twas quite a waste of time
To make that little rhyme!

The Fairest Fairy Queen

On glittering wings the fairies came
From hither and thither and yon,
Their beautiful new fairy queen
To feast their eyes upon.

Her sparkling hair quite dazzled them
Like sun on morning dew;
The tender eyes beneath her brow
Were of a fawny hue.

Of gossamer her dress was made
The softest royal attire,
Lighter than a baby's breath -
It truly did inspire.

Upon her dainty toes she wore
Tinkling bells so sweet
That jingled with each movement of
Her tiny little feet.

Oh fairy queen, we love you so,
It gives us such delight
To know you're watching over us
Throughout the day and night!

Where Are The Fairies?

Where are the fairies,
Have they all gone away;
Are they under the flowers
Or asleep in the hay?

Where are the fairies?
Are they flying so high
That we just cannot see them
Way up in the sky?

Where are the fairies?
If I call will they come;
Could I entice them
With tea cakes and rum?

Where are the fairies?
Have you seen any near,
Perhaps a wee sparkle,
Or a pointy ear?

Where are the fairies?
If you see them please
Ask them to come visit
On the evening breeze!

I've just completed my ebook of fairy poems and listed it in my Etsy shop. The volume features 12 original poems, with illustrations, all by me. This edition is PDF format for reading on a computer, tablet, or other electronic device.

I've very excited to have finally completed this project. Well, this phase, anyway. I'll be working on a version for the iBookstore, then a Kindle format for Amazon.

Watching

In the swaying daffodils
Growing on the sunny hills
Where bees all tend to clover
And hummingbirds the other
I sit as quiet as a mouse
Watching a wee fairy house
All throughout the day
Hoping to see the little fae
That lives among the flowers
Whiling away the hours
Doing ordinary things
Like mending tiny fairy wings
And when the day is almost done
Just before the setting sun
She finally slips out of her home
Thinking that she's all alone
Dances without a care
Doesn't even know I'm there
For I do not make a sound
Nor move myself around
Lilting, laughing, she prances about
With a happy song and a gleeful shout
On her toes she whirls and twirls
Flapping her wings in the air she swirls
Till oh so softly she touches down
Her dainty feet upon the ground
And in that magic moment
The little fairy paused and bent
Saw my reflection in a drop of dew
Away, away the fairy flew
High up in a nearby tree
Now the fairy is watching me!

What Do Green Fairies Eat?

Green fairies eat cucumbers,
Chives on potatoes,
Tender asparagus,
Fried green tomatoes.

Fresh leaves of herbs
Are a fragrant delicacy,
Especially atop salad
Of watercress and parsley.

They top it all off
With a spot of green tea
In an earthenware cup
By the Emerald Sea.

Sweet Little Fairy

Sitting in my garden
Beneath a fragrant flower
I met a little fairy
We whiled away the hour.

She asked me all about myself
My age and work and name
Though she said it didn't matter
Cause she'd like me all the same.

Her voice it tinkled like a bell
Every time she'd speak
Oh, I could sit and listen to it
All throughout the week.

For she's such a sweet little fairy
With eyes that sparkle bright
And wings as light as gossamer
To carry her in flight.

We'll meet again tomorrow
The little fae and me
I'll bring along some daintly treats
And lovely jasmine tea.

So come along and join us
A party it will be
Perhaps she'll bring her fairy friends...
We'll have to wait and see!

The Lovely Unexpected

Looking through my window
Out into the glade
I see the gentle violets
Lying in the shade
The wind it blows so softly
Sighing through the trees
And there's a touch of magic
Floating on the breeze
The merry dappled sunshine
Sparkles here and there
It makes me think of fairies
Gliding through the air
For all of nature sings out
The beauty of the day
So it should not surprise me
To see the lovely fae
Hiding in the garden
Playing in the flowers
All without a care as they
While away the hours
Look outside your window
Perhaps you'll see them too
In the midday sunshine
Or early morning dew
Our eyes behold such wonders
When hearts and minds let go
The expected expectations
New worlds we come to know

The River Fairy

The river fairy
sits upon a fallen leaf
floating down the river
to the happy sound
of water tinkling
as it gently moves along.

The sparkling sunshine
adds a touch of magic
to the scene
like fairy dust
wishing harmony
into the day.

And when the waters
become swift and troubled
the little fairy
without a care
simply rises above it
and flies away.

Making Magic

A fairy reached up in the sky
On her tippy toes so high;
There a lovely star she found
To put upon her fairy wand.

With a twinkle in her eyes
The little fairy always tries
To make some magic, sweet and clear
For all she in her heart holds dear.

So make a wish, your very best
And your dream just may be blessed
By the fairy and her star,
Be she near, or be she far;

For wishes have their own bright wings,
The soul its beauteous music sings;
Light touches light, so fae and you
Together make your dreams come true!

What do you look like?
Do you look like me?
I have eyes that sparkle
And a dimpled knee.

There's a touch of freckles
Upon my nose,
On my feet I have
Such sweet little toes!

With a body slender,
Skin soft as dew,
Please tell me that
I look like you!

Fairies in the Twilight

Fairies in the twilight
Gathered all around
The twinkling of the firelight
All without a sound.

Breathless was the breeze that blew
Oh so softly there
For it was now the evening
The time for fairy prayer.

And in that hushèd moment
When day at last is done
Gentle thoughts of peaceful sleep
Were wished for everyone.

The Neglected Fairy

Oh why do I sigh,
And moan, and cry
About how very much
Time goes by
When I don't pay attention
To my inner fay,
(I really don't want her
To fly away!)
So instead let me sit
And write some lines,
Hoping to get a poem
That really shines,
`Cause the fairy within me
Needs time for fun
Lest she get cranky
And come undone.
If I do a good job,
She'll soar to new heights
When I dust out the cobwebs
And turn on the lights;
Together we'll go
To a magical place
That will put a sweet grin
On her tiny face.
She will flutter her wings,
Sing some sparkling songs
In a place filled with magic,
Where she truly belongs!

The moonlit garden,
The twinkling stars,
The shimmering fairies,
The glowing fires,
Tell a sweet story,
Tell all who will listen,
Tell of the magic,
Tell while they glisten,
Of times long ago,
Of things here and now,
Of marvelous mysteries,
Of who, where, and how.
Come sit in the shadows,
Come open your eyes,
Come let your mind wander,
Come learn and grow wise.

Sorrow and Joy

A fairy sits alone and cries,
Tears streaming down from both her eyes.
Why is her heart so very sad?
What will make her soul turn glad?
Seeing the one she loves and misses,
Covering that one with all her kisses;
When she has her loved one near
And holds the one she loves so dear,
Her eyes will sparkle and her smile return
When the one for whom her heart did yearn
Shines on her like the sun above
And wraps her in the warmth of sweet fairy love.

Ah To Be A Fairy

Ah, to be a fairy
Floating on air,
Flitting about
Without a care.

Ah, to be soaring
On gossamer wings,
Enjoying whatever
The sunny day brings.

Ah, to settle down
At the end of day,
Knowing tomorrow's magic
Will be full of play.

Fairies in a whirl,
They frolic and sway,
They swing and swirl.

Fairies on the wing,
They fly so high,
They zip and zing.

Fairies all around,
They laugh and sparkle,
They leap and bound.

Fairies love to dance,
They wear gossamer dresses,
They wear tiny pants.

Fairies love to hide,
They spread their magic,
They vanish with the tide.
