It felt like I was on top of the world with the wind rushing through my hair, the freedom pumping through my veins, and a scream escaping from the very depths of my soul! Although there were troubles on the way, now when I think about them, they make me feel nostalgic. Not just that #dry pasta, but life then, made me feel excited.

NOW - Watching life on a roller-coaster ride is now a bit scary. Stepping out is scary. Meeting someone in person is scary. Knowing about someone else's health condition is scary. Not even this pasta can solve this problem. Life now is quite disturbed. Not only mine but almost everyone's. Reasons are many. But COVID-19 stays ahead of the pack.

Moreover, credits to those who are recklessly roaming all over the city playing "Catch me if you can".. and putting their and their family's life at risk. Many of them keep blaming the government for not taking strict actions. Many of them blame their neighbors. Let us stop this blame game and play our part in being a responsible citizens.

Life always gives lemons. Let us all pledge to stay safe during this period, as our safety is our family's safety. and gets ready. She prepares her kids for school. She makes breakfast for the
entire family. Serves breakfast. She prepares lunch and dinner. She makes her
kids do homework. She manages household chores like dusting, watering plants,
washing clothes and ironing them. Makes sure, her house is clean all the time.
A woman, a housewife has a lot of things to do. No need to count them. No one
can count them either.

is another woman, who is not a homemaker, but a working mum. She wakes up.
Makes food for everyone. She sends her kids to school. Leaves for work leaving
some household chores, which she does anyway after coming back. Now here, don’t
you feel she needs some rest? Don’t you feel she needs some help? Domestic
help? Why calling her husband or someone from the family for help is considered
to be deplorable?

that even a housewife, a homemaker can seek help. The woman is just a human as a
man is. She might need help at times and I say, asking for help is nowhere
wrong. But does everyone agree to the same? NO.

asking for help. Hey there, asking for help makes a woman shameless… Yes. You
read it right. It is totally disgusting. I was surprised to hear this when one
of my relatives said so. Her words were, “nowadays, working women
shamelessly ask for help…we people used to do everything on our own without
asking for help even if we had fever/backache/period cramps or whatever.

Whenever, wherever she needs help, she can ask for it.

A woman usually has to
face what almost all brown and healthy women go through - being reproved for
the colour of the skin or the size she is …and being told that she is too tall,
too short, too fat or too dark. The #TOO part of every word is bizarre, I feel.

Here in this post, I am sharing few experiences of my friends who went through
or are still going through such illogical ideologies of our so called society…

My friend’s aunt would
keep asking her mum to do ‘ubtan’ - a home remedy with home ingredients including
chickpea flour, curd etc. to ‘lighten’ my friend's skin tone. A lot of face packs,
several parlor sittings, face washes etc and comments were a part and parcel of
her growing up years.

WHY? I don’t get the point that why a girl always has to be white or wheaty? Isn’t
she beautiful when dusky or dark? Isn’t she a golden hearted?

Another friend of mine was
asked to eat sprouts for her breakfast, 2 rotis and 1 bowl dal for lunch and salad
for dinner. Her father asked her to join a nearby #Gym in the morning and yoga
class in the eve. Trust me, she was beautiful the way she was. Her father felt,
she was #TOO fat. It was more about how will they find a suitable match for her.

WHY? Why a man, a #FAT man is always said to be healthy? Why a girl cannot be
in her own size? Why can’t she eat whatever she likes to?

Newly wed, beautiful
bride comes to me and whispers, “Will his parents be the same to me years after
the marriage?” “It depends on you” I said, alike most of the women. Deep inside
my heart, I felt I was wrong.

6 Years of successful
marriage, mother of 2, that friend of mine texted … “YOU WERE WRONG”.

And I understood what she
was talking about.

She later writes,

"Expectations grow as you
do. Now, being a daughter-in-law people expect me to get up early and serve breakfast
prepare #DELICIOUS lunch caz whatever I cook, they don’t find anything
delicious in that, take good care of kids caz I am a bad mother, clean my messy
room then do whatever I want to. I am a working woman. Can I do this much
alone?"

Why? Why only a girl is responsible for the aftereffects of marriage? His
parents accept the girl wholeheartedly in front of the society and later on start
pointing fingers? Why should a man not help a woman doing chores? Why a
daughter-in-law is treated just as daughter-in-law and not as #HumanBeing?

I
had no idea what marriage entails. Marriage, like everything else in life,
cannot be taught or understood before it is lived. It needs to be felt.
Sometimes it feels joyous, sometimes it hurts.

There are married couples
who claim they are still madly in love. For them, marriage doesn’t require
major adjustments or sacrifices. They naturally know how to keep each other
happy, how to live a perfectly balanced and harmonious life.

But for us, we struggled with such concept of a perfectly harmonious marriage because ours’ was far different from it. I even thought something was dreadfully wrong with our marriage by comparing our relationship to other people’s. I thought we were an anomaly. We used to swim through turbulent waters ineptly. We even survived a few tsunamis together. Despite such accidents, we swam gawkily and rose above the surface. It’s certainly not the prettiest picture of marriage but perhaps the most realistic, the one that helps marriages last a lifetime.

Only thing to be noted is…Live happily with whatever you have…

The campaign with the sole intention to bring administration and citizen closer, named as “Lok Suraj Abhiyaan” was launched in the year 2005. Earlier it was “Gram Suraj” which was a village-centric campaign later it evolved into urban pockets as “Nagar Suraj”. It has now covered rural and urban areas. Hence it developed and took shape of “Lok Suraj”.

Talking about the impact of this campaign started by Chattisgarh government, it has played a vital role in spiraling public’s undeterred faith in government. As the name states, “Lok Suraj”, the good governance for the people, Chattisgarh chief minister Dr. Raman Singh took initiative in developing remote areas of Chattisgarh by getting closer to the villagers and other residents. The government wanted every citizen to make use of this campaign; hence it organizes this campaign mostly during summers. When kids have their vacations, farmers are home and women slightly relieved from the load of work. This gave a platform to the people where they could share their problems of life. Farmers talk about issues related to irrigation, crops, land development and allotment etc whereas children discuss their mid-day meal issues, stationary availability, facilities in schools and so on. Women get a stage to open up about the development of the society by providing proper electricity, water, medical facilities or construction of public toilets etc.

Redressal camps – “Samadhan Shivir”

One of the best measures taken by Dr. Singh and the government is “Samadhan Shivir” where the public can directly get solutions to their needs or problems. Innumerable applications are received during this camp related to public issues. These applications are divided according to area and departments. This finally deals with identifying and correction of administrative irregularities and loopholes if any.

Roof for uncovered heads and gas for those empty stomachs

Women from many areas came up with the request that they dream of a roof on their heads which they could not get till now. And some requested for a safer kitchen. Wooden stoves would result in watery and itchy eyes and danger of catching fire too.

Under “Pradhan Mantri housing and ujjawala” scheme, those women were asked to fill some forms and formalities. Within a week, they got new gas connections which helped them cook safely and easily better than before and within a month’s time, they got their homes built. What else they could wish for?

Ration card for needy

Poor and needy people had to take loans to fulfill their daily needs. As earning bread for the family was sometimes not their cup of tea, they had to borrow money or take ration on credit, which resulted in huge loans on their heads later. This issue came into the limelight when the government stepped into some of the villages during surprise visits or “Samadhan Shivir”. Dr. Raman Singh’s government then promised ration cards to all the needy people and hence that problem was also solved soon.

Women and child welfare schemes

Our C.M. Dr. Raman Singh started his first day of this campaign, 3rdphase by giving polio drops to the kids. Also, there is a ‘pregnancy aid scheme’ under which women from the rural and urban areas get some amount from the hospitals for their medicines and baby’s other needs. Women who run their own house by their earnings also got a respectful life now. Women who had to go door to door for earning bread by washing clothes and utensils, on requesting a shop, have received a shop where they can now wash and iron other’s clothes and earn bread with respect.

Scholastic and employment programs

Schooling has also been made easy and affordable. Free books made the students study much enthusiastically. Schemes like “Yuva Kranti Yojana”, “Saraswati Cycle Yojana”, “Pradhanmantri Jandhan Yojana”. “Kshetra vikas yojana” have helped Chattisgarh’s youth and the unemployed public. Bank accounts were created under 0 balance, several cycles were distributed to school-going girls, employment were given to many unemployed and deserving candidates. People who suffered immense loss owing to the poor yield could enroll into “Fasal Bima Yojana”. This helped the farmer families insure their lands. In case of poor yield also, those poor farmers had not to worry.

Old age – New solutions

“Lok Suraj Abhiyaan” also dealt with elderly and disabled people ’s problems. People who could not afford medical fees and other expenses now can enroll in medical schemes and get help from the government. The pain of helplessness of old age can only be understood by those who face it. For such old age, people who had to survive by depending on their kids now are receiving their own pension with which they could earn a respectful living. Who would like defecating in open? Toilets in every house were made compulsory for everyone and government helped them to build their own. Public toilets were also made under “Swachchata Abhiyaan”.

Whenever the news of CM coming to their village for any campaign was spread, a huge number of people would gather to interact with their favorite leader. They share and discuss their opinions, problems and grievances. The sight of direct interaction of public and government is one of a kind. This is what is called a “Good Governance”- “SURAJ”.

The emerging trend in interior designing shows how India is moving forward. Earlier, we used to have ample of space to build a house perfectly fit for a huge joint family also. But now-a-days as we see, people are opting for apartments where they get less space but interior designing makes that small space look even better. Institutes of Interior designing train their pupils how to utilize the space, how to create designs to make a small area look bigger, better and practical.

ID as a career

Well, it would be better if we change the phrase “scope of ID in India is huge” to “there is a huge scarcity of finest interior designers in India”. No doubt there are best designers in India but we need few more designers to complete the demand over the time. If you have that caliber to understand interior needs and have the idea to fill up empty spaces or to give small spaces the best utility, you can surely opt for interior designing courses. In Chandigarh, there are some institutes which offer ID course and we’re sure, they can definitely guide you to shape your creativity into a bright future.

In the near future, we are going to see a radical change in interior. Thanks to advancement in digital display surfaces. Isn’t it amazing that an iPad programming helps you draw your dream home? Also some technique helps design your walls as you like. Design it your way, as you want it to be. Apps are being made just to know how your room should look like. How much brightness, what color it should be painted. You can switch on your AC even if you’re far away from your home, your houses now can have wifi-enabled lights, remote operating windows and many more.Must say, digitalization has added charm to interior designing.

Computerized interior designing is a major technical advancement.Especially for constructers, architects, designers etc. With the help of computer software, one can easily speed up things, can help architects to create forms and structures which they could not imagine and draw beforehand due to some practical issues. A project that could take several weeks now can be easily done in a couple of days.

Mother’s Day...

Holds a special place in my own heart because of the little one who made me a mum. I love to get up every morning seeing his face. I can't thank God enough for gifting me 'motherhood'.
This day reminds me of my mum...
an amazing mother who dedicated her life to her two daughters. She is selfless, hardworking, strong and the most beautiful woman I know.

Every year as Mother’s Day gets close, I get a little nostalgic. I used to trouble my mum a lot. I have been rude to her many times. I could not apologize directly but always wanted to. I could not thank her for everything but always wanted to. So today I wanted to sit down and blog a little letter for my mum thanking her for every single thing she has done for me and also to share some of the challenges I’ve experienced as a mom.

As a quick side note, when I started writing this post it was all about the joy of motherhood. But when I thought about all the strong moms around me, it didn’t take me long to realize the term “mom” isn’t easy to come by. So whether you’re a mom to ur newborn or right in the middle of raising your babies, or you find yourself helpless with your teenagers...this day is for all of us.

MUM...YOU'RE MORE THAN ENOUGH

I...at times get this insecure feeling of “I’m not doing enough.” So did my mum. Being a working lady, it was the hardest for my mum to handle work, house and two naughty kids. She never skipped a single thing out of her mind. Right from breakfast, our lunchboxes, dad's lunchpack, her own box, cleaning house nd also checking our homework whether it's done or not. Meanwhile my daddy used to look after our uniforms and shoes. Mum used to share every part of her task..and so did we. We had a habit of sharing everything we did in our school.Taking a few seconds to let us in on her huge part of life has really helped us understand that mum and dad both have a big job to do.
You have done a lot for us mummy. You are still doing. Bearing our tantrums, listening to OUR fav music, watching OUR fav movies, moreover...cooking OUR fav dishes. Still..whenever I go to my place (after 6years of marriage also) she cooks all my fav dishes. Lack of time was never an obstacle for her between cooking for her daughter :) hahaha. I love that okra curry and tomato rasam she prepares. I guess no one in the world can mAke such yummy rasam.

I am a stay-at-home mum. And I get the same feelings of “not doing enough". I spend a lot of time focusing on priority of work. Nap time is when I get my daily chores done. Whether it was folding laundry, prepping dinner, doing dishes or cleaning the mess which my not-so-naughty son creates. My husband plays a vital part here. He taught me how to balance household chores and take care of my growing son.
I am glad that whenever I got time, I used to pen down my feelings in my diary. Though I gave a couple of years gap in blogging but never forgot my pen and diary. Taking the time to allow yourself a few minutes a day to do what you love, is OKAY. I found it was the thing that kept me balanced and energized.

Motherhood can be difficult. It's not easy as planting a tree and watching it grow. You have to put efforts. You have to give your kids, your part of time. This is what I've learnt from my mumy. When your kiddos are just babies and you’re changing diapers or listening to whining constantly, it can feel overwhelming. But not at time when you clean the blend of water, omelette, chai, idly and chutney spilled on the floor. My son does so ;)

TEACHING AND LEARNING

While my mum taught me how to cook her way, bring up a child her way, I also want to thank my mother-in-law. Cooking is the best part I have learnt from her. Ever heard a mother-in-law sharing her secret recipies? Mine does. Thankyou mumy for teaching some very interesting recipies as you teach your daughter. I have been rude sometimes, sometimes irresponsible and sometimes moody. Sorry and thankyou both a ton for bearing with me.

I hope you feel so loved and celebrated this Mother’s Day. And no matter what season you find yourself in, just know that you are doing enough, and you are loved and appreciated. I know for me, the thought of my son growing up and moving off to the next stage of his life makes me want to burst into tears! So this Mother’s Day I plan to milk it for all it’s worth, and add suger to all the moments to make my life even more sweeter with my beloved one.
P.S. Cheers to all the mothers.

...And the RAPE SAGA goes on.

She had just started conversing fluently. She wanted to play with dolls. She had recently started schooling. Her parents were dreaming about her future. And now she is in the hospital fighting for her own life.
Humanity? Is that what we crave for? Does it even exist?
Every other day a woman is raped in this country. A few days back, a girl was gangraped in a moving bus. You and I just eventually forgot that incident and moved on with our lives. Within a few days, another incident happened. The whole world was celebrating New years Eve and residents of India’s capital were praying god protesting against those several rapes.

Matter of shame is around 393 cases of rape have been reported between January 1 and March 31. And now in this month- April 2013- Near by 4 cases of rape have been registered.
- A two-and-half year girl was raped by a 25-year-old man in west Delhi's Najafgarh on April 18.
- Another five-year-old girl, studying in lower kindergarten, was sodomized by her teacher in the school premises in the east Delhi's Jagatpuri area April 17.
- A 15-year-old Class 10 student was also gangraped on April 17 in east Delhi.
- In west Delhi's Sultanpuri area, a 10-year-old girl playing outside her home was lured away by neighbour into a stationary bus and raped in April 14.
And here they go- earlier this week, a five year old delhi girl brutalised by a neighbour is the fifth minor to have fallen prey.

Disgusting!Shocking!Shamefull....These emotions that we all went through when we heard about the ghastly gang-rape of a medical student who passed away are set to be revisited as more details emerge of a brutal rape of a 5-year old in Delhi today who was starved, tortured and brutally raped. This girl is battling for life due to infection contracted from foreign objects found inside her body like a piece of candle and a 200ml bottle of hair oil. These objects were found inside her and the girl's genital area had been mutilated. Some of her body parts, like her lips and chest wall etc were severely injured.
How insane can people be?

DELHI- THE RAPE CAPITAL
Hail Delhi police. As read in Indiatimes.com,they were offering Rs. 2000 to the victim's father to keep his mouth shut and also advised him "THANK GOD, YOUR DAUGHTER IS STILL ALIVE".
People claimed that "She was raped because she was wearing skimpy clothes and was travelling at night time". Some highly educated people also used these lines in their speech- GIRLS MUST NOT GET OUT OF THEIR HOUSES AT NIGHT TIME. THEY MUST WEAR PROPER CLOTHES.

EXCUSE ME....Girls are being raped because some bloody insane MEN are raping them. Not because of their clothes, not because of their attractive body. If all these are the only reason, give us a single reason of the condition of those poor minor victims? Was that two n a half year old girl wearing something seductive? Or this 5 year old girl was travelling alone at night?

Why should we keep mum and tolerate the gruesome brutality in the name of human rights? Human rights are not for demons! Justice delayed is justice denied. Castrate the rapists in public. Sleep blurs into memory and lies awake in the arms of darkness. Flashes of Breaking News knock at the inner folds of my mind. It seems, some men of India's capital have not learnt or been shamed from the massive public protests and social coverage of the December incident. They still remain animals. But wait, it is an insult to animals to compare these men to them. What to call them, insane? Shameless? Illiterates? Bastards? Better to start boycotting such men from our societies. Let the police do whatever they want to but people, start punishing the victim on your own if you find one.
After so many Ups and Downs in the year 2012, here I welcome 2013 in Dubai. Yeah. Second winters here and hating it. It wasn't this freezy last year but this time…May be because I am getting out of my house daily for my office. These are the few things about winters which I really reallyyyy hate.

- Winter mornings?? Getting up early for daily routine is really horrible. Ppl plz suggest some tricks to stay @ home 24*7. I don’t wanna get up early for office now. How about work from home?
- It’s dark all the time- it’s dark at 5pm now that really scares me.
- Cold shower? Naah!- It takes forever for my shower water to warm up. Excuse me? Who likes cold shower?
- This dry air- makes for some miserable dry skin and chapped lips ;) It probably has to do with that super hot shower. Yeah…I know.
- Wind chill- In the summer, you WANT the wind to blow. And in winters, it makes terrible weather ever more terrible. Now this year m gonna face all extreme cold wind in Dubai. Hottest place though but cold as of now.
- Frizzy Fridays- Fridays are even more scary for me. Yeah. I work all alone in the office sometimes and wonder why these UAE people save electricity and shut all the corridor lights off. Huh. No light anywhere except my office and yeah of course road side lights.
- Please. Put on some music- can’t work in quite atmosphere. Either headphones, or loudspeaker. Music is must ;) [Disclaimer- Please note that if you are one of my colleague, neglect this point. ;)]
- Actually. I am lazy. And I admit this fact. I don’t like working, I don’t like cooking, I don’t like cleaning. And all above, I don’t like getting out of that cozzzyyy comforter. No more stuff to write now. M tired. And want to sleep again. ;)
Hope you all had a rocking NYE party. Wishing you all luck, good health and cheerful year ahead. I’ll now get back to blog regularly. Missing many moments and wanna right them down.

Happy winters and Happy new year :)

Not much of a post...
I was reading all of my old posts and just laughed and laughed. I'm so glad that I did this blog, because it was so nice to go back and relive those memories! Thanks to Rashmi I'm hoping I'll feel inspired now to keep it up again. Well…who knows???

Housewife is a Profession too!

Honestly speaking…I am finally getting a handle on my life. I'll tell you depression can take a toll and sometimes you don't even realize it. It can creep up on you and turn you into someone you never knew you could be.

Maggi is no more a part of lunch/dinner for me. Maggi was a part of my life b4 marriage. Sharing maggi with co-workers @ lunch time and njoying it with my family is the bestEST moment ever in my life... Though...Meal is now all about a perfect plate of rice/dal/curry/yoghurt/salad n all...
I'm not a perfect house keeper. I try to keep it clean. I sweep, vacuum and dust almost every day, but it doesn't look like a museum either ;) But when this depression set in, my house began to look like I didn't care anymore. You know I didn't go on any medication, I simply started video chatting to all my people. Weekly and now, daily. I got out of depression now. I feel glad whenever I think about my loving husband. I have one kid “My husband”. My life is looking really good right now. So why was it I was unhappy. Because I didn't take time out for me! Or say, I didn’t take time out for blogging.

Girls, you have to put yourself first. If you don't take care of you, no one will. (Here…I miss my mom badly:( .Before marriage, I used to have a career, work out, stayed healthy and fit, had a social life, took time out for a bath and a book. But things do change after marriage. I no longer have a schedule to follow, I get lazy basically, I gained weight, I lost contact with many of my associates, and I quit taking time for myself unless it was on the laptop. The laptop became my escape. Problem was it took me away from the house, my health and my routine. That wasn't good.

Today I have a schedule again. You may think well why, you're only a house wife. Because being a house wife is like any other profession. If you want it to work you need to run it like a well oiled machine. Which includes every element I need to feel like I am functioning at my best. Once again I have a career (Now a bit of family life, roamin around Int City) health and fitness, a social life(though less communities than before), and a little time for me and for hubby.

This part will continue soon with new situations and few of my experiences as a house wife :) Waiting for the day to come with lots and lots of fun which wud leave back beautiful memories so that I can come back n blog it:)

''THE GREY''- The title says it all.

Into the last good fight I'll ever know
Live or die on this day

After 'Mission Impossible-Ghost Protocol', I watched The Grey. Well, for me, MI-GP was not at all worth watching. Liam Neeson played a very good role in this movie. This story, The Grey- actually revolves around a handful of oil-rig workers who survive a disastrous plane crash. Lead actor, Liam has the knowledge and the guts to lead his companion in their urge to stay alive without food, water, or shelter, surrounded by hungry and threatening wolves.

There are so many scary moments involving wolf attacks, and the way the guys strived for their lives and for food n all... Those scary and glowing eyes of hungry wolves were really spooky. Well...the soft corner for their beloved ones had a space in this movie. In the mean while, each man spoke about their family.

It was actually a survival story. I wasn’t satisfied by he ending. Don’t know why. But the way it picturised the emotions, needs, feeling of helplessness etc were awesome. I could feel the ice thunder there on my seat itself...It was snowin there on the screen. I for once, went deep into the movie and could easily get out because of those idiotic horrific wolves. I hate wolves...That too hungry ones.

A famous poem by Shri Harivansh Rai Bacchhan...had a lot to say in this movie AGNEEPATH. Loved it:) Well...We all know that Agneepath 2012 is a remake of the most popular Bollywood movie of Agneepath 1990. The most renowned character - Vijay Deenanath Chauhan (played by Amitabh ji) is again live by Hrithik Roshan.

Agneepath 2012 is the tribute of the original one. It is based on the purely revenge with high pitch of emotion, forceful action and entertainment. You can say that theme of Agneepath 2012 movie is based on the uncomplicated story of revenge. The very thing I loved in the entire movie was the way emotions between brother-sister (Vijay and Shiksha) were expressed which I think was missing in the original one.
Sanjay Dutt’s entry was superb. He was striking in his role- Kancha Cheena, an uncrowned king of Mandwa who terminates a dedicated schoolmaster maliciously. The master’s son (Vijay/Hritik) swears revenge. He grew under the guardianship of Rauf Lala played by Rishi Kapoor. Lala rules on Mumbai for the trade of drug and human. Vijay makes Lala a path to reach Kancha. However there were few changes made in the remake, like Priyanka has got her own beauty saloon in her locality while the original story was about a nurse, the salt business, the way Deenanath was killed, Shiksha’s appearance etc. Amit Ji's 'HAENN' was missing in d movie :D
Priyanka Chopra as Kaali, (Vijay’s childhood friend and wife later for a short while) was again superb in her role. Though she was there in the film for a short time ;P. Inspecter Gaitonde had the same role, entry n all like the original one.‘Chikni Chameli’, the item song in this film was all hit due to Katrina Kaif. Well choreographed by Ganesh Aacharya. Sanjay Dutt is unbeatable in his role. Upasana, being away from my sight, was close to my heart sharing and caring. I do feel that penpalling is almost a sort of therapy for people like me which helps cope up with life’s problems. It is a very good feeling of having a pen pal. Listening to pal’s worries has helped me learn how life is. Also it improved me in every means. It is such a wonderful vehicle for friendship and mutual understanding in this diverse world.

Day 1- It was a Sunday morning when I woke up suddenly. I had a bad dream. Got ready as quick as possible and went away without informing my mom a word about where was I going and what for. I went to Smt. G.S high school almost 9 kms away from my home just to see whether ‘She’ was there or not.
Day 2- I and my mom went shopping. There was a fair, beautiful and tall girl standing besides my mom with long brown hair. Her eyes were so charming that no body would ever like to take off their eyes away from those eyes. I thought it was ‘She’. Went to have a word with her…The girl went away some where till I could go and ask her something.
Day 3- A wonderful scenery caught my eyes. Greenery and colourful flowers, beautiful butterflies and dawn reminded of ‘Her’ favorites. ‘She’ once said that she loved nature. She usually goes to the near by park from her school with her sister. I shared this to my mother, but she couldn’t get a single word of mine.

Here I explain…

Upasana… My PEN FRIEND. We met on a social networking site and then started writing letters to each other. I was shifted from South India directly to Madhya Pradesh. My pen pal, Upasana said, she was from the same state where I once lived. I actually am attached to that name. Upasana was one of my classmates’ name. She was one of my best friends. Her voice made her much more adorable. Her pink cheeks and small eyes were so charming. And alike was her nature. After I shifted to MP, I couldn’t contact her. I wished to be with her on every friendship day. I missed her and her company a lot. Since I got this girl on the networking site, thought she too might be like the same Upasana.

Coming to my pen pal…I and her continued conversing by letters but could never try of sharing photographs of each other. We loved writing any way. Our choice was same. Letters exchanging, greetings, greenery, flowers, puppies, li’l monkeys, butterflies and all were what made both of us go crazy. We shared some personal problems too. This made us more intimate. We were now eager to meet each other. Upasana wrote her next letter…

Dear pen pal,

Love. Since a long time we were exchanging letters. Today I am sending you my personal diary. Though I even never permit my mom to touch that without my permission. But like you to read it. It is all about you. I’ve started maintaining this diary since the day I met you. You bought so many changes in me and I’d sincerely like to thank you for this. Here is my diary. Waiting for your reply and my diary in return…
Hey! I have a li’l kitten @ my home. ‘Gloria’. She is dammnnn cute and loving. Sending her picture also. Have a look. I’d suggest you to have a pet at your place too. It gives us immense pleasure playing with pets and sparing li’l time from such innocent creatures.
Your loving friend,
Upasana.

I was glad to read that letter. But reading her personal diary needed strong heart. I never ever had touched any one’s diary or read one. Now, she has sent me this diary by herself and wants me to read. Okay…The diary’s first three pages consisted of those three days lines which I’ve inscribed above. She every day thought of me. She every day missed me. She every day wished to meet me once. Alike me. But destiny. The last letter from her was… “I am getting married”. After sharing out school days’ experience, college days’ life and all…I thought I’d receive letters from her after her marriage too. But I was wrong. Any way…I wished her luck in my next letter. And again on this day, (friendship day) I wish to be with her at least for a while.

A trip to..."HEAVEN"..

The vicious sound of the alarm clock woke me up with a start. Two three huge yawns later I pushed myself out of the bed with very li'l effort caz I couldn't sleep all night. I looked into the bathroom mirror. A ghost with baggy eyes stared back at me. Scccaarry...No one, believe me no one could wake me up this early in the morning. My granny tried to wake me up during my exams, but no way...I woke up but slept behind my books...hahaha...Well it was for my loving husband whom I got to pick up early morning from the airport. I finally got ready within half an hour and stood near the door waiting for the driver to come. He was late…  We rushed to the air port, my eyes were searching for him with excitement. There….There he was…I found him and ran towards him n gave a huuuugeee hug. After a really very long time, I could see him finally.

It was a planned trip to Vaishnav mata. It's said you can visit Devi maa only when her bulawa comes. Truly said. I tried to visit Devi twice but some how the plans didn't materialize in the end. I am married now. Maybe because I was destined to visit Devi maa only with him, so she made it sure that all other plans are not successful. Though, he visited twice…with his friends and once with family.
My work had me tied like hell, there was no scope of leave, and finally I thought of a plan and called my boss, asked him to manage with my previous matters. He agreed.
We started from Raipur to Delhi, landed @ bhai’s home.

He booked one of the best hotels in Katra. We started again from Delhi to Jammu. Traveled along a beautiful way to Katra…Stepped in the hotel…Believe me, the view of the hill was amazing…(I wish to visit once again, again with him). We were hardly few steps away from Devi maa…my condition was worst I can’t explain even.
My legs were literally dead. The holy chant…”Jai mata di” gave instant energy and I finally had an amazing view. Darshan was so so so holy and divine and peaceful and what not…….We reached back to hotel @ 1:30 am. Slept till 5 pm nxt day… lolll….But as the dates of our trip were going on, my heart was really shrinking because I could hardly see him going away from me…again for don’t know how many days/months….

Again from delhi, we were to catch our train, but he wasn’t in a mood to leave delhi that soon. He looked for flights which would be much better than trains but a bit costly. I wasn't well too. Fever...din measure how much, cough and cold, with body pains and what not??? We could not afford travelling again more than 20 hours in train to Raipur.

"I would like to cancel our train tickets, but will we get our tickets booked in ny flight that soon? " he said in a doubtful voice.
Conversation took place between him and my brother for a time being and then, they left the unanswered question as it is and we all got ready to visit Kingdom of dreams. The most amazingly beautiful place, I’ve ever visited. Enjoyed a lot again and came back home. Next day anyhow we managed to get out tickets booked with double charges for sudden booking. Within two hours, we were away from Delhi and landed @ Raipur. I wonder why these flights are that fast…I wished to be in Delhi for few hours more…

Again the same feeling struck my mind…Only few hours more with him, and again he’ll be away from my sight. By god, I hate that feeling. And wish god, dobara kabhi aise feel karne ka mauka mat de.
Again we were at home. I was picking out my things from our baggage. As he was to move alone to Rourkela. The few hours I spent with him, were like…I was spending few days with one whom I love so so so so so much and the same, to whom I am married few months ago. It is true I feel, when you are in love, the world seems like a great place to live in. Be it Jammu, Delhi or TRAIN…:D
This is why I called my trip as a trip to HEAVEN...

The day came, I had to bid him adieu. It was the day, when I was asked not to cry but my eyes were full of tears…

"One kind kiss before we part,
Drop a tear and bid send-off;
Though we separate, my fond heart
Till we meet shall wheeze for you."

Slapped, kicked, and abused – Where’s women's empowerment on TV gone?

Women are slapped, kicked, abused and raped in popular shows like 'Naa Aana Iss Des Laado', 'Balika Vadhu' and 'Pratigya' that reach over 130 million households in India and they seem to be doing little to empower women.
These supposedly socially relevant shows started as attempts to break away from the chestnut of kitchen politics and tackle themes like female infanticide, child marriage and discrimination. But soon they turned out to be half-hearted efforts, showing violence towards women rather than creating awareness against such atrocities.
Of late, these shows have been depicting scenes where a husband physically abuses his wife only because she stands up against him, or in another show, the husband slaps his wife hard for arguing with him. How these shows talk about women's empowerment then, many viewers ask.
Such depiction of subjugation is 'intolerable', according to noted actress and social activist Shabana Azmi…as I read @ the link of IANS. 'It is extremely important to have positive role models for women. And it's sad that on television, we usually don't see that, even when so many writers are women themselves. I do think that the only way we can counter the image of a girl is by making available as many positive images of empowered women as possible,' Shabana told IANS.
Alas, that is not happening - even though these shows are a staple for most Indian women.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:right;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 139px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLiuBkKtBhoSMdlx6FZKTRjNtSB6UysTXsKvF2H5DIJhZPvUSJjnZ6hivVBO_jyYPD3VVSl50p3cOCSou3iWLySPOHeCvUMlh2j6yG566-2JtpVKNDZrwMFUjuKPnRlptMa735NB6fI5c/s200/abuse1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5625773040549694914" />

STAR Plus has started 'Kaali - Ek Agnipariksha' to show how independent girls become soft targets for sexual harassment. So, while on one hand the channel claims to depict the improving social standing of women, on the other, it shows how men have an upper hand in sabotaging women's lives through 'Pratigya'.
'Pratigya' even depicted the protagonist being asked to drink water that had been used to wash her mother-in-law's feet and now something showing insane things like putting fire to oneself to get rid of daughter in law, causing disputes between son n daughter in law etc are now in trend in Indian television.
Acclaimed filmmaker Govind Nihalani, known for making socially relevant movies like 'Aakrosh' and 'Ardh Satya', said such themes should only provoke debate.
'Somewhere these issues have to be brought into the open so that people are aware of it.
Woman-centric serials became a rage after Ekta Kapoor's 'Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki' and 'Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi'. Ekta claims TV content has helped a lot of Indian women in becoming assertive at home. 'Many people felt that television is 'corrupting' Indian women to stand up for their rights. Some people with very conservative mindsets thought that the women were being influenced and corrupted as we encouraged them to stand up for their rights. 'But recent research proves that many women from smaller towns and rural areas have also started taking charge of decision making and being an active participant in their family issues,' said Ekta.
But many today say with each new show, content has gone from bad to worse. This article is meant to all those human beings who are against such cruel acts. This is to raise voice against some soaps going popular day by day. Stop watching such serials and it will lead to less TRP of that particular serial else complain at consumercomplain website online. Also help those poor women being tortured or abused at their homes.
Be a human. It got on to her nerves when anyone would ask permission to get inside the class.

“I actually waited for a long time for the rain to stop ma’m, that’s why it took so long to reach the school. I thought I could make it here when the rain eased a bit, but…” I cooked up a story, with the completely innocent face and thought she might be convinced. Nope…It was rainy season. She asked me the reason why I didn’t wear a raincoat or have umbrella. How could I say, I wanted to be drenched n I love rains??? I was punished that day. Yeah, I enjoyed being punished. She asked me to stand outside ma classroom. Yeah!!! There he was…the bright sun. That was the bestEST punishment I’ve had ever got. Being doused in rain and getting dry under the sun…amazing.

It’s raining, finally! It is really hard to stay dry while it’s raining. My sis’s schools have been started. When she goes to school carrying an umbrella. She’s not at all like me. She likes to enjoy rainy season sitting @ home.
Rainy season brings lots of memories in mind. I still love making paper boats and I love the feel of rain on ma face, and my bare feet on the wet ground. I took out an old newspaper and made six to seven boats with it. Meanwhile my mother in law peeped inside my room and saw me doing that childish act. She laughed loud and went away saying, “Carry on my girl”… Oh! I loved that. After all the boats were ready, (each diff size…) I arranged them in ascending order (of size) and put it in the rain water collected in our balcony. Yeah!!! I enjoyed watching the speed of ma li’l boat drifting in rain water. They were made of papers so, slowly started to sink. My smiling face slowly turned cheerless. I cursed the rain again and again. Then went away.

My choice amends now and then. I love rain as well as hate it when it is continuous. I like to enjoy it sitting @ the window with a cup of coffee in hand. (All though the same smile on my face can never come back by watching rain sitting @ window.) I love the smell of wet sand, I love the dew drops on leaves after rain, I love the wet and cold wind blows in this season. But I hate heavy rains, anyway...

--------------------

There are certain moments in life when our childhood memories get charged up and make us smile. Childhood fantasies fade with time. But, like many other things in my life, rain brought me back in my yesteryears, making me realize once again that life is about moving, enjoying and dreaming.

----
Monsoon break-1-
http://blendingexpressions.blogspot.com/2010/09/gimme-monsoon-break.html

Office-Office Part2

Hmmm…Didn’t include few things about ma office. But most of the times, I badly miss my days I’d spend @ ma office. Couldn’t enjoy that much @ School and College was full of dumb people everywhere. Got to know what real fun is…when I joined the office. The inner prankster of mine came out with naughty and tricky pranks this time. But only for a while.

- Work stands first of course… After that, me used to chat with my husband, for a change, me n ma colleague plunked our lunch boxes in the sideboard/drawer and when out for partying at SukhSagar or ManjuMamta.
- When we come, we dreadfully needed that A.C on in our cabin. We were just two. But the office looked empty without us says our boss…And yeah!! We two were equal to several funniest pranksters.
- We enjoyed summers by having packet full of ‘kakdis’ every now and then. We squabbled with the canteen staff for serving us cold and foul-tasting ginger tea. (Well that tea some times had no ginger in it to be called as Ginger tea properly)… And many times we went out for a walk near by to refresh our selves.
- On Sundays, we wouldn’t miss that Thela Chai…standing up on the small broken wall and ordering 2 cups of tea from the thela wala standing opp to the wall. Though we couldn’t see him from this side, but could easily guess for how many times he’d boil the same tea and serve it to his customers…Still, we loved to have that.

- Sleeping on our desks, oh! What a relief from stress and head ache…We’d giggle and laugh at our own jokes, create funny emails on our other colleagues, listening loud music when our boss was out, and offering toffee to our boss if he’d come and shriek at us…

- Oh!!! Heartiest thanks to that person who first invented MAGGI. We’d plan and bring maggi and would have that with morning tea at office… :D Nothing remained for us to eat at the lunch hours.

- Till now, the funniest prank I hv ever made is…asking address of ma own office to some thela wala or a vegetable seller on the way… Gosssssshhh….It was such a fun. Guess what? We’d go to our boss and say, boss, no body knows where our office is…I surveyed today. I asked few thela walas and sabji walas and road romeos.

I came to know now…that life really **cks every one at the end. Problems were there in ma life when I was a journo. But after marriage, got problems with responsibilities. And the cruel god now tests me n my endurance. Anyway…I still thank god the almighty for standing besides me every time. (But not helping me now). He had gifted me good frnz, a nice family n affectionate in-laws to live with. And of course you’re there…I know…

Situation changes, life doesn't.

This is for the first time happening with me that I m not able to express my feelings in words. So many thoughts are running in my mind and many feelings are playing hide and seek. Sometimes I am happy for what I’ve got and sometimes I feel gloomy caz I’ll be far away from my dear ones and entering into my new life in few days. Well…Have started maintaining diary now-a-days. So there’s nothing to blog. The feeling of getting close to someone and the feeling of being separated my dear ones with whom I’ve spent 20 years of my life are like drenching my heart into a deep quandary.
Sometimes it is a nice feeling that m goin to start a new life with all new relations and new people around…but when I recall all my memories…it literally hurts to know that I’ll no more be here with my people to celebrate every moment like before.
I just wonder how people follow such customs which have no meaning and sense now-a-days….Sending one’s daughter to a very new family to lead the rest of her life with them is similar to a baby plant uprooted suddenly from the nursery and being planted to a new garden far away. People say, it is natural and happens with every girl one day. But for me, it’s too hard to understand that why a girl is asked to sacrifice every time? Why she has to leave her people? Why she has to bear the pain of being separated from her siblings? Will miss my daily routine...Colleagues, my bosses, and especially...the atmosphere. It was really a nice journey working here. I never felt like being tortured or forced to do ny work. Was never asked to do the work which I don't like. And the special thing was I got a lot of space to work according to my wish and I got space to explore myself a lot. I wish I cud be with this organisation few days/months/years more...
Again dreaming a lot...
Well...Will be back soon with something new in my life...
For now..resignations, marketing and preparation for marriage. Yeah! There you are…
I am talking again about my school days. Actually, I was celebrating my last birthday @ my residence… N was recalling all those days when I partied with my friends at their homes…Yaa…Literally…My birthday celebration at frn’s home. That too on the road side. The strong n cruel glimpse of my frn’s mother made everyone understand that tonight…Our frn is gonna be finished…..
This birthday anyhow was so much full of fun but taught me many things.
Teenage, adolescents and blah…blah…….I now think that teenage is the time when we have nothing to do except wasting time, money, values and everything for just name sake. I'v learnt…that partying doesn’t only mean roaming out and wasting your pocket money @ restaurants n hotels like anything.

I did something unique this year [for the first time in my whole life…till now].
Spared my time for those people who need young ones to be with them. I went to an old age home near my place. Felt like none can see the world better than those people who live in an old age home. They are the people who have nothing to say as their own but live life as happy as we do. In reality, they get a calm surrounding and such people around who actually care for them and live for them.
Met two to three dadaas and many dadis. All were left alone by their own kids. I even can’t think around how those people dare to dump their parents alone anywhere when they need love and support. Are they really human beings? Don’t they think, the same could happen with them when they’ll grow old?

Well…I was there for few hours and shared many things with dem. I cudn’t stop my tears when one of them cried in front of me while yelling at her son who left her alone in the small hut. Hopeless people. They should be buried alive…they are not worth living on this earth. Again I got to know a thing from this visit that, these people speak the LANGUAGE OF LOVE…Still don’t get that. So, give a thought and go, visit any of the old age homes near by and spare some time for those people too rather than wasting time roaming out side doing nothing…
