I bet you all didn't know that but I actually have my personal makeup staff living in my home. I mean, you can't really believe I look this put together all the time without a little help, right?

Our hot water tank was on the fritz yesterday so I figured why not look like a bigger pig-bum? Actually, I'll happily go days without a shower but it just so happened that I smelled like a dead animal and was in desperate need of hygiene.

This was the first time I let George into my make-up. She spent a solid thirty minutes plastering our faces with dark eye shadows. She approached the whole thing with such seriousness; it was completely mesmerizing to watch. I very clearly remember playing with my grandmothers blush and lipstick and it had this magical feeling about it. It was clear this girl was feeling the same way. She kept saying she was a princess. No little girl, you are much much more than a princess. You are my Georgia Grace.

It's finally March 1st and I couldn't be more excited!! Although I've been blogging for many years it was until this time two years ago that I really started to take it seriously. So here I am. Two years of regular blogging. I'm so ready to celebrate.

If you're a regular visitor to this blog then you know that I like to mark a good milestone. For months I've been thinking about the right way to commemorate this one and I think I figured it out...

Yup. Yes. I. Am. I'm giving away a tattoo to celebrate my two year blogging milestone!! I wanted to offer up something that I know a lot of you really, really want so I'm bringing on the ink, blood and pain. And just wait, there's one more awesome thing!

Isn't that freaking awesome?! Sandi is most definitely designing my next tattoo and she could possibly be doing the same for you. Of course, we don't want to dictate to you who will create your next piece of body art so this part of the giveaway is optional. I ain't that bossy.

This contest is not your average giveaway post so please, please, please pay close attention to the details. I am going to enforce these rules to the T to avoid any chance of unfairness.

Around here things are taking their first step towards a normal direction. Jesse is finally home and this parenting thing is once more a two person gig. While he was gone I fell so far behind on my work that there are times that I feel like crumpling up and crying. Then I realize that I may be over-reacting thanks to a monthly delivery of hormones and that life will continue on even if slightly tainted by inconvenience. I'll throw in an obligatory I love my life disclaimer because when I pull my head out of my ass I find that I really, truly do. And that's in spite of having my head just emerge from my ass which is a horrible experience.

I'll be back here tomorrow with something crazy. Something so exciting. Something so bloody spectacular that I can't even use an exclamation mark. Only visit this blog tomorrow if you want to go "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?!" Shit, an exclamation mark got in there.

thursday thrifted: at the flea and on the road

Last Sunday I told Georgia a story of a magical place in a not-so-far-away land called the Lakefield Flea Market. In this fairytale land there are things called hot dogs at an enchanted place called the cafeteria. She was all in.

I actually showed a great amount of restraint that day. That happens when I come across prices in excess of $10. I picked up a Buddy Holly record for my collection and that little bike pencil cup thing. It will replace another knick-knacky bike thing that Georgia so graciously destroyed. She's sweet.

On another out-of-town thrifty adventure I picked up the rest of these things. I was very happy to find that clock at Value Village with a very non-VV price - only $1.99! The faux patchwork fabric is being saved for an upcoming diy project (or I'll just change my mind like I always do and hoard it forever) and the blanket is the background is keeping me cozy as I type. The bunny refused to be ignored and hopped itself right into my shopping cart.

I'm planning some major thrifting this weekend so I'm hoping I have more to share with you next week. I have a favourite spot to find inexpensive pieces of fabric and I'm hoping it will do me a solid once again.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend too! I can't wait for Monday night to roll around and have Jesse back home. Poor George is missing him like mad and I think it's contagious.
