I totally shifted gears with my skin and body regimen when I came across Snoe Beauty. Ever since that one afternoon, I can never have enough of their products (proof: my hauls). I remember, I even went all the way to Galleria just to stock up on my Snoe fixes. Good thing they already opened a stall at Landmark, Trinoma which is so much more accessible to me.

The stunning Jen and Gen are taking their first-hand knowhow of the industry to focus on a beauty line that addresses the unique needs of Asian women. For the duo, this project has been years in the making, but to finally realize their dreams is merely the bonus to sharing what they love with their community.

Jen admits to having experimented on her makeup and clothing since her formative years, and became a sunblock afficionado at the tender age of 16. Meanwhile, Gen's first recollections of makeup began at ten years old, with the help of baby powder, bathroom mirrors, and shampoo commercial impersonations.

Through the years, Diaz and Gerodias have accumulated a wealth of product experience. "I can't use one brand of hair care," Diaz gives an example, often shifting from one brand to the other, trying out different looks and styles. Gerodias, on the other hand, who was "introduced to the addictive world of mani-pedis at the age of 12," was trying out skin lightening lotions and branded moisturizers since her preteens.

Nowadays, their childhood obsessions materialize in the form of carefully curated ingredients formulated with the help of the duo's team of chemists and dermatologists; tested only on their closest friends and relatives, and on themselves, too; and packed with an avid consumer's point-of-view and sensibility.

Benefit Sugarbomb Blush

Without a doubt, Sugarbomb is my favorite blush from Benefit (and is one of my all-time favorite blushes too). I find it funny actually because I never really had high hopes for this blush to begin with. Yes I've read quite a lot of positive reviews about Sugarbomb, but for some odd reason, I never had the urge to purchase one for myself like ASAP. I can vividly remember how it even took me days before testing it out when my Benefit order came. Lets just say that I was so in love with Bella Bamba that I kinda underestimated the beauty of Sugarbomb. Big mistake! Because the moment I swiped it across my cheekbones, I became euphoric. It was so gorgeous that it instantly went up to "Holy Grail" status.

Benefit Sugarbomb has 4 complimenting, shimmering shades of peach, soft plum, pink and rose powders that when swirled together give my fair skin a nice, soft peachy-rose radiance. It is not as pigmented as Bella Bamba or Coralista, but the color is definitely buildable which means that it will work for a wide range of skin tones. Also, if you favor a particular color from the four, you can just load your brush with that and you're good to go. But I find that this blush delivers the prettiest when the colors are swirled together (at least on me).

The shimmers in it might look intimidating at first, but don't despair because it reflects just the right amount of light on the face for that illuminating glow that I couldn't get enough of. There is no need for that extra highlighting step with this blush because it gives that glow-from-within flush on its own. It smells fantastic, stays decently on the skin and doesn't break me out. I can see myself using this blush for my entire existence. Although I am still far from using mine all up or even hitting its pan, I can already see myself rushing to the Benefit Cosmetics counter when I ran out of it.

Mac Pink Pigeon Lipstick

Most girls fall into nude shades. But I'm definitely not part of that league. I'm more drawn to colors. I'm naturally pale and colors bring out the more alive version of myself. And if there is one particular color that I tend to favor more (at least on make up department), it's pink!

I am and perhaps will always be drawn to pink lipsticks for the rest of my lifetime. It's like it's already innate in me to adore them. And the more vibrant, the better (since I can just tone it down with a weaker lipstick shade/gloss)!

So it didn't come as a surprise that I had my eyes on Mac Pink Pigeon lipstick. In fact, it was the shade that I was most excited about in the recent Iris Apfel collection. In short, it was on top of my make up to-buy list!

Bold, yet wearable. Fierce, but delectable. Striking, yet romantic. These phrases encapsulated my huge love for this lipstick. Pink Pigeon is a beautiful deep vibrant pink. It's bright, but not so over the top like Candy Yum Yum. Despite its matte formula, it sits comfortably on my lips. If I didn't know this part, I'd probably thought of it as a satin or an amplified creme. It's creamy, not overly drying and highly opaque. Just one clean stroke and my pigmented lips are all set. The staying power is also amazing. It even leaves a nice stain to the lips after a few drinks and bites. It's definitely that perfect lipstick to carry on your purse for a party or for any occasion that requires minimal touch ups.

The only downside is this pretty doll is limited edition and is sold out already. So if the Iris Apfel collection hasn't reached your Mac counters yet, make sure to grab Pink Pigeon once it does.

Collective Mango SALE Haul!

I love Mango! And I love them even better when they are on SALE! Although I did not go crazy this time, I am still happy with the pieces that I got. Let's start!

My Mac Iris Apfel Collection HAUL!

There is no doubt that the Iris Apfel collection definitely rekindled my love for Mac. Let's just say that at one point in my make up world, I became lazy in trying to cope up with their gazillion collections. So with a brave soul (and happy wallet), I decided to put an end to my insanity. I gave up and stopped caring for their new releases.

But when the massive anticipation for the Iris Apfel collection reached my senses (thanks to beauty bloggers and YT gurus), it tickled my fancy. You see, I don't like a lot of colors on my eyes, but on my puckers, I prefer the other side of the spectrum. Let's just say that I am lazy and my bright lip colors save me from looking incredibly boring and lifeless.

So when my ever reliable Mac make up artist ringed me and told me that the Iris Apfel collection is finally out, it was a no-brainer for me. I rushed. I swatched. I hauled.

Iris Apfel is an interior designer and a fashion icon. The colorful, bright, bombastic and attention-grabbing range of her collection definitely reflect her eccentric fashion taste. And on that note, I grabbed all the limited edition (bright) lipsticks (Php1,000 each)!

Orly Sweet Peacock Nail Polish

I may not be a fan of blue eye shadows, but I dig blue polishes! And on that note, when I finally saw Orly Sweet Peacock (part of Birds of a Feather collection) on display at Landmark, Trinoma, I did not think twice and purchased one immediately. Why not? It's blue. It's metallic. It's gorgeous!

Orly Sweet Peacock is a fun bright foiled blue color that will never fail to stand out (in a good way). It's a show stopper and (as for me) a great conversational piece. Random girls were asking what particular polish I'm wearing every time I have this on (which is cool and kinda weird as well). It looks gorgeous on my tips and extremely flattering on my toes too! It's the perfect accessory when I am just wearing a plain white shirt paired with jeans and flip flops. The formula of this polish is beyond fantastic too. It goes really really well. It's opaque in two coats and it dries super fast. Even a novice on a d0-it-yourself manicure will not have a hard time in putting this on. I also enjoyed that it stayed on my tips even without a top coat for almost a week! So yes, Orly Sweet Peacock did not disappoint me. I couldn't even think of something that I hate about this polish. It's perfect (at least for me)!

Hair fall is one predicament that I have been dealing with for years. But before hovering over to that, let us understand a couple of things about hair loss - the myths and the truths as explained by a hair and scalp medical expert in one of the leading hospitals in the Philippines.

Myth No. 1: Wearing hats can cause hair loss - This is untrue, unless the hats you wear - ever so often, and everyday -are so tight, they cut off blood circulation to your scalp.

Myth No. 2: I suffer from hair loss - my hair falls out everyday! - It's natural to have your hail fall out everyday. While it differs for everyone, a person loses an average of 50-100 hairs a day. Myth No. 5: There is no solution to hair loss - This may have been true in the past, but such is no longer the case today. Diana Stalder Premium Diamond Peel with Serum (Php2,000) is a procedure that gently cleans, scrubs and exfoliates the skin with the aid of a diamond tipped wand. I particularly enjoyed that their cleansing products felt minty which left that cool & relaxing sensation on the skin. Also, the facial scrub that was used just had the right amount of grittiness (definitely not abrasive) that helped lift the dead skin cells away. Next, steam was used to open my pores and then my nasty white/black heads were patiently extracted. Fresh cucumber eye patches were also applied. And then, the diamond tipped wand was gently rolled all over my face and neck. I love that my therapist made sure that every area was treated accordingly. She also used red LED lights on my face to encourage collagen stimulation and to reduce redness. And as a final touch, a specialized serum was applied to hydrate the skin.

The result; - I walked away with supple, smooth and youthful glowy skin. I had this procedure days ago, but I still can't help touching my face. The silky feeling as I stroke my face makes me crazy (and extremely pleased). I am also happy to report that I did not break out after the procedure (mind you, I have sensitive skin). :)

Benefit Bella Bamba Blush

I remember adding Benefit's Bella Bamba blush on my make up wishlist the minute I learned about it. If you have been reading my blog for quite awhile now, you probably know already that I have a "thing" for blushes. So when I saw the promotional pictures of Bella Bamba, read about a gazillion positive feedback about it and watched my favorite YouTube gurus talking nonstop about this blush, I was completely sold. But since Benefit Cosmetics was not yet available here in the Philippines at that time, I had to play the excruciating waiting game. But it was okay because Bella Bamba was so worth the wait!

Bella Bamba is described as a 3D watermelon pink blush that amplifies the cheekbones and aims to give the face that illusion of sculpted features. It also has that pleasing fruity scent (definitely not overpowering) that makes sweeping it across my cheekbones always a delight. Seriously, it is one of the most deliciously smelling blush that I have ever owned. Although I don't know what to expect or how a 3D blush should work, I am pleased with how Bella Bamba delivers on my cheeks. With proper application, it gives that healthy medium pink flush with slightly golden sheen to the skin. Its fine shimmers create that beautiful lit to the face as well.

Bella Bamba doesn't come low on pigmentation too. It is a blush that can be worn and will work for all skin tones. It is super pigmented that overdoing it is remarkably easy. So make sure to use a light hand or a dual fibre brush in applying this (at least for fair/NC20-ish skin tones like me).

Housed in a super cute packaging, Bella Bamba is perfect for travelling too. It flips open, has a mirror inside and comes with a usable soft brush. I personally don't use the brush that came with it (which I do in all my blushes) since I prefer applying it with my dual fibre brush, but it's quite handy for quick touch ups. However, I am not a big fan of their new flip top box design. I still prefer their old detachable lid design because I find that the flip cover a little bit harder to work (and to photograph) with as it tends to close involuntarily while I'm still doing my blush. But hey, that's just me. Different strokes for different folks, right?

Thai at Silk Restaurant

I am not adventurous with Asian cuisine. I always tend to dine with restaurants offering more of a Western vibe. But last night, I bent some rules and took that leap of gastronomic faith with Silk Thai Cuisine.

Situated at the heart of Serendra lifestyle mall in Fort Bonifacio, Silk was crowned as one of the best restaurants in the market that offers Thai cuisine (source:spot.ph). Their cozy interiors, relaxing ambiance and courteous staff makes dining here even more appealing. Their Silk menu is also made up of traditional Thai cuisine, in which a complete meal not only acquaints you with various spices and flavors of Asia, it also allows you to enjoy a balance of the four fundamental taste flavors of Thai cuisine - sweet, spicy, salty and sour.

Our dinner menu consisted of:

Pandan Martini - a perfect light refreshing cocktail drink that pairs well with the flavors of Thai Food.

Seafood Satay - marinated squid, shrimp and shapper fillets on skewers with vinegar and chill sauce and peanut sauce.

Fresh Thai Spring Rolls - this best selling appetizer is a take from Vietnamese cuisine; rolls of fresh shrimp, pork, bean sprouts, Chinese vermicelli, cucumber, carrots, spring onions and basil served with Thai peanut sauce, sweet vinegar and cucumber dipping sauce.

Thai Style Apple & Mango Salad - Som Tam Style salad composed of grated apple and green mango dressed in a sour vinaigrette.

Chiang Mai Curry Noodles - a popular street dish in Thailand. It is comprised of noodles in a freshly made curry soup then topped with tender pieces of chicken, crispy fried egg noodles, coriander, onions, pickled cabbage, shallots and lime.

Vegetable Filled Roti - crisp, unleavened flat bread filled with a melange of vegetables which comes with a Thai curry dipping sauce.

Crispy Shrimp and Coriander-Filled Pastry - crisp pastry filled with chopped prawns and coriander paste.

Crispy Salt and Pepper Fried Squid with Coriander Root - crispy pieces of fried squid stir fried with salt and pepper, coriander, onions, and peppers.

Thai Style Beef with Oyster Sauce, Black Fungus and Bamboo Shoot - Silk's take on the popular Chinese beef with oyster sauce. Stir fried tender pieces of beef served with black fungus and bamboo shoots with a sprinkling of Thai kaffir lime leaves.

Over all, my palate definitely appreciated Silk's succulent, zesty and flavorsome dishes. I enjoyed most the seafood satay, the Thai style beef and surprisingly, the Thai style apple and mango salad too. It was a nice break from overdosing myself with Italian and American food. I would definitely try some of their best sellers (Phad Thai, Deep Fried Soft Shell Crab with Black Pepper Sauce and Mango Sticky Rice to name a few) on my next visit (which I bet will be soon!).

Strip It ALL Off At Strip Manila!

Stripping it ALL off down there (aka Brazilian wax) is a procedure that requires a strong will, a positive outlook and one hell of a good waxing service! Now if you already possess the first two elements, it's time to search for that holy grail waxing salon that is equipped with specially trained therapists (aka Waxperts), uses nothing-but-the-best-quality wax and most importantly has high regards for hygiene. This part is tedious and sometimes heart breaking because really, you never know what you are getting into until you experience it, right? But let me save y'all from the ugliness of trial and error (read: burns, irritations, wax remnants, etc). Fun facts!

Strip adheres in stripping those unwanted hair in a very sanitary and hygienic way. Recycling is a no-no to Strip. Each Brazilian wax customer will be given their individually sealed Hygiene pack (see pic below), which includes latex gloves, spatulas, wet wipes, cotton pads, and buds. They don't do double dipping. Spatulas are disposed off after every application. This is essential because it lowers the possibility of acquiring infection. Remember dolls, we want to be hair-free and germ-free as well, right?

Strip also uses only the prime quality wax in town! Their Berry Chocolate Wax is loaded with Titanium Dioxide which makes it gentle on the skin. It leaves the skin soft and supple as well.

So now, the big question is: How did it go?

They say in order to lessen the pain, it is advisable to pop a capsule of pain reliever half an hour before doing the Brazilian procedure. But since I would like to experience the Brazilian wax in all its glory, I decided to skip that part. Did I regret omitting that? Surprisingly, the answer is NO. Yes, it was not the most soothing experience but the pain was definitely not as excruciating as what I imagined it to be. All the screaming I saw on various movie clips were beyond exaggeration. It was not pain-free but it was definitely tolerable. Coming from a girl with genetically implanted low pain tolerance and is medically unaided to numb her pain receptors, that is definitely a big naked statement!

Also, my therapist (named Lanie) just took 15 minutes to complete the whole procedure. But don't equate speed with lesser quality because she was definitely keen to details (literally!). A post treatment cream was also applied on my V section to avoid irritation and all the bad stuff. And contrary to my initial belief, I did not experience difficulty in walking (or in any motor skill) after the procedure (again, blame the movies!). Helen and I even continued shopping afterwards. And since I considered my experience a big achievement, I even treated myself with my favorite dish and dessert!

So will I recommend Strip Ministry of Waxing? My answer: in a heart beat! As a matter of fact, I am hugely encouraging all you dolls and dudes (yes, they offer boyzilian) to take off all your inhibitions and start the year light and free! Forever 21 SALE Haul!

Forever 21's sale is almost over (ends on the 15th) so I wasn't really expecting to still see items on the sale rack that will catch my interest and will fit my size when I stepped inside their SM Makati branch yesterday.
