If you are around Subang Airport and feel like checking out a nursery nearby, there is one in Pekan Subang (opposite the TUDM airfield). Hmm... now I wonder if this is the nursery that one of my blog readers, Gentak, was referring to in my Cbox some time last August.

Anyway, this is definitely one nursery that can make you 'shop till you drop'! The nursery is huge and filled with numerous variety of shrubs, ferns, climbers and trees.

Law Nursery & Landscaping opens from 8.00am to 7.00pm daily and has been in the business for more than 10 years. Besides retailing plants, the operator also provides turfing, landscaping and garden maintenance services. On their name card, it's also stated that they rent out plants, supply pegola or gazebo and build fish pond. Everything under one roof?!

Plant Variety Rating: 5.00 | With so many types of plants in stock at this nursery, I don't think I could complete the list of plants sold here. Well, people say that a picture tells a thousand words. From all the pics posted here you should be able to see that the place is packed with an enormous amount of plants.

The thing I like most about this place is that they kept propagating plants. Hence, I can have a choice of either getting really young plants (rooted cuttings) or matured ones :-)

At one corner of the nursery, I saw some orchids while at another area, they have a selection of aquatic plants.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | Most of the plants are in good condition. I spotted some nice fruit trees...

Layout Rating: 4.00 | Although they have lots of plants, I was still able to browse every plant with ease. However as it was quite sunny that day, I wished I had brought a bigger hat... then I could spend more time checking out their plants as most plants are in the sun!

Garden Products Rating: 4.00 | They have lots plastic and ceramic pots and gardening supplies here for their customers.

Wong Tai Hoon Orchid & Nursery

Here is one nursery that surprised me with some huge longan trees within their compound. Well, I didn't expect to see the fruit trees in the midst of all their beautiful orchids :)

Similar to another orchid nursery nearby, this nursery also has terete vandas planted at the entrance. The vandas flowers are just amazing... very pretty and graceful flowers with foliage covering every inch of the chain fence.

Wong Tai Hoon Orchid & Nursery opens at 8.00am everyday and closes at about 7.00pm. The operator has been in the business for more than eight years.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.25 | Besides orchids, the nursery also has a small selection of other plants like air plants, aglaonema and ant plant.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.25 | Most of the plants were in very good condition.

Layout Rating: 3.75 | Just like any other orchid nursery, this one also has all the plants placed under a nursery netting. Hence, all orchids are protected against the strong sun and heavy rain.

Garden Products Rating: NA | I couldn't recall if there was any garden products available at this nursery as I was too engrossed looking at plants :)

Baku Nursery

On the way back from Rompin and driving through Bahau one weekend, I noticed that there were quite a number of nurseries along the way. If I have not had a tiring day, I would have dropped by each and everyone of these nurseries. Anyway I only managed to visit one that looked neat and organised from the outside.

Baku Nursery opens from 9.00am to 6.00pm daily. They have been in the business for more than 10 years. Mr Chong, the owner, is an avid gardener himself. He gardens and retails plants all at the same time in this nursery.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.50 | There are lots of cacti and desert roses on the racks.

The desert roses are mainly from Thailand. Some of the bigger plants are not for sale (those under the tent in the pic below). They are grown by the owner for his own pleasure only :-)

The owner used to have a great passion in growing cactus but not anymore. He however still has plenty of cacti in stock for his customers.

There are other plants in the nurseries as well (see subsequent pics).

Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

Layout Rating: 4.50 | I really like the space that they have. It's so easy to browse the plants and walk around the nursery. Most plants and merchandises are in the shade. All items are arranged nicely and orderly.

Garden Products Rating: 4.50 | They have lots of garden products on the shelves and floor. It's definitely a place to go for pots or garden accessories - plenty of options!

Rainforest Landscape & Nursery @ Garden Mart

Here is one nursery that has been operating at Garden Mart for a few years already. I had always looked forward to checking out the new plants that are parked outside the premises of this nursery each time I pass by it. Other than plants, they have lots of interesting sandstone garden features and sculptures, wooden furniture, garden ornaments and pots on the selling floor.

Rainforest Landscape & Nursery opens from 8.00am to 7.30pm daily. They have fascinating plants for the pond as well as for the garden!

Plant Variety Rating: 3.50 | They have lots of trees and shrubs for landscaping.

The ones in the shade (placed right at the entrance) are plants with handsome foliages.

In the open are flowering plants like frangipani and allamanda. Apt for its name, I saw lots of beautiful tropical rainforest greens!

Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

The plants that are outside look really attractive. When I was there, I was so attracted to the water hyssop with its bright green leaves and pretty lavender flowers... an excellent bog plant!

Layout Rating: 3.75 | Although the plants are not so neatly arranged, you can still check out each one pretty easily.

If you interested in the pots (that are mostly stacked up) you can always ask for some assistance from the workers there.

Garden Products Rating: 4.50 | For those who are looking for a sculpture or some wooden furniture for your garden, be sure to check out this nursery. They have plenty of choices and in many sizes!

Leong Nursery

Leong Nursery is perhaps the only nursery at Sungai Buloh Leprosy Centre's Central Section that sells lots of potted bonsais. Well, at least that was what I saw when I visited this nursery that day... more bonsais than any other plants! So if you are looking for bonsais, you may want to check out this nursery.

Leong Nursery opens daily from 8.30am to 7.00pm. I was told that they have been in the business for more than 20 years.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.50 | There are lots of shrubs, all placed on racks.

Besides bonsais, other selection of plants include agave, umbrella tree, calathea, zamioculcas, aglaonema and dracaena.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.25 | Most of the plants are in pretty good condition.

Layout Rating: 4.00 | They made use of the slopes within its compound to create tiers and rows of plants. Most of their plants are placed on raised planks. Overall, the nursery looks really organised.

Garden Products Rating: 3.00 | They have some gardening supplies like pots, fertilisers and soil available at the back of the premises, all placed in the shade.

Chea Ngai Hoong Nursery

I saw lots of shrubs that are suitable for landscaping at Chea Ngai Hoong Nursery. Besides that there were also plenty of small potted flowering plants placed at one corner of this pretty sizeable nursery.

Chea Ngai Hoong Nursery opens from 9.30am to 6.00pm daily. They have been in the business for more than five years at this place. Before that they were located near the Sungai Buloh hospital. They were there for over 20 years.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.25 | There are lots of trees and shrubs for landscaping.

I spotted varieties of cordyline and big bonsais.

For those who are looking for plants that can go in the shade, there are plenty found here. Amongst the plants, I spotted orchids also.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

I also saw some roselle, bird's eye chili and brinjal plants on sale and they were looking pretty good :-)

Layout Rating: 3.75 | What I appreciate most about this nursery is that they have a big 'road' in the middle of its premises, which is very convenient for loading and unloading. But for walk-in customers, you will need to walk a big circle and go into each shaded area of plant groupings to check out their plants.

Garden Products Rating: 3.00 | They have plastic and ceramic pots and gardening supplies in store for walk-in customers.

Taman Orkid

I was attracted to the neat- and cool-looking orchid pots and baskets displayed along the road at the central section of this nursery bazaar known as the Sungai Buloh Leprosy Centre. The nursery is however situated on the opposite side of the road where the pots and basket are placed.

Taman Orkid (translated as Orchid Garden) has orchids of various sizes and colours - sourced from Thailand, Taiwan and local farms - which I found fascinating and very much attracted to.

Taman Orkid sells a variety of orchids and some tillandsias, and is opened from 7.00am to 6.00pm daily. They have been in the business for more than 20 years.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.75 | There are a variety of orchids in many colours. Some are really bright while some are in cool colours.

At one corner, I saw some young plants in small plastic pots.

The most attractive plant of them all is the huge and healthy looking phalaenopsis orchids.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.50 | Almost all the orchids are in very good condition.

I also spotted some really beautiful dendrobiums, cattleyas and other hybrids.

Apart from orchids, there are some really attractive tillandsias on one of the racks.

Layout Rating: 4.75 |All orchids are either hung or placed on racks. And they have arranged those with bright and attractive colours right at the entrance. In the shade, all orchids are placed on racks. It was really easy to browse each and every orchid that are on display.

Garden Products Rating: 4.00 | They have pots in an assortment of colours and sizes, fertilisers for orchids and other orchid gardening supplies.

Yeap Nursery

I have not shopped at the Sungai Buloh nursery bazaar popularly known as the leprosy centre for months. This time round, I went there with some friends from Singapore and we saw many of the nurseries well stocked with really beautiful plants!

I enjoyed my normal browsing for plants. Most of the plants are quite appealing and I am glad to see my friends enjoying themselves too and even found some interesting plants to bring home :-)

One nursery that particularly stood out for me this time is Yeap Nursery. From the front I was so attracted to their neatly arranged plants. On closer look, I was even more delighted to see that almost all their plants were in very good condition.

Yeap Nursery opens daily from 8.30am to 6.00pm. Although the size of the nursery is rather small, they managed to pack the place with many colourful flowering plants. Check out the pic below.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.00 | There are many pretty plants that caught my eyes.

Besides these eye-catching plants, there are also some fascinating ones like nepenthes pitcher plants (pic below).

The lush greeneries in many textures and hues were looking really good at one corner of the nursery. I was captivated by the marigolds, ferns and coleuses, which were placed together in the midst of many small tropical green shrubs.

There were some cool hoyas in hanging pots at the back of the nursery. Though there were not many of them, I must say that it is not everyday that you would stumble upon these beauties.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.50 | Most of the plants are in very good condition.

There were several pots of herb plants on one of the racks. It was a refreshing sight to behold :-) Take a look at these mint plant in the pic below...

Layout Rating: 4.75 | As I have mentioned earlier, the nursery is very well arranged. The layout is orderly with plants of the same type being grouped together for easy browsing.

Pauline Nursery

If you are one of those who love flowers and would like to add splashes of bright colours to your garden, here is one nursery you might not want to miss. This nursery has lots of annuals in stock! And perennials also.

The highlight for me is that I found many interesting combo planters that's a unique offering at this nursery :-D

Below is one example of a combination of snake plant, portulaca and red flame ivy. Can you see how some of our common plants such as portulaca can be used as filler and red flame ivy as skirting or trailing plant?

Pauline Nursery opens from 8.30am to 5.00/6.00pm daily. They have been in the business for more than 2 years.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.50 | There are a number of ornamental plants, both flowering and non-flowering types. And I saw some fruit saplings here also.

There are many plants that I find attractive. One plant that stood out from the rest is portulaca. They have a variety of portulaca, looking really pretty in hanging pots. I love the red impatiens that I spotted near the portulaca. Oh my goodness, it was all bright and pretty there :-D

Aside from pretty annuals, they have many other wonderful perennials as well. I spotted some nice pink mandavillas and lipstick plants.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.25 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

Layout Rating: 4.00 | Walking around the nursery was easy even when I have to walk up a slope to get to the plants that are under shades. There I saw many potted plants on racks as well as hanging from poles above.

Garden Products Rating: 3.50 | They have plastic and ceramic pots and gardening supplies.

Scenic Tropical Garden

I entered Scenic Tropical Garden nursery from the adjacent Lot 21 as there is no fence separating the two lots. Hmm... are both nurseries related to each other? Well, I didn't get to find out about this :-P

What I did find out however was that there are many wonderful plants in this nursery and also many colourful annuals at the front of its premises. I guess that piece of info is more relevant to gardeners hunting for the right plants to adorn their gardens rather than whether the proprietors are related to one another, haha...

Scenic Tropical Gardens opens from 8.00am to 6.00pm daily but on weekend, they close an hour later, at 7.00pm.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.50 | There are lots of beautiful aquatic plants, annuals, flowering shrubs, foliage shrubs and trees here.

I managed to snap pics of some really nice plants here. In the combo pic below, you will be able to see a kesidang (bottom left), a dwarf sea hibiscus (top left), an Amazon Blue (centre) and a light pink peregrina (right).

Besides beautiful flowering plants, there are many other interesting foliage plants like Norfolk Island Pine (bottom left), ornamental Musa (top left), crinum (centre) and rattlesnake plant (right).

Plant Condition Rating: 4.25 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

Here is a group of healthy looking variegated Madagascar almond trees...

Layout Rating: 3.75 | Eventhough most of the plants are placed on the ground, I was still able to browse every plant as the walkway in the centre is wide and easy to access. The branching paths are however not that easy to walk into as the plants are positioned quite near to each other.

Garden Products Rating: 3.50 | They have plastic and ceramic pots and gardening supplies at one sheltered place.

Warisan Hijau Tropics Landscape

Like most nurseries in this area, Warisan Hijau Tropics Landscape is another fascinating nursery that has many colourful flowers and plants placed right at its entrance. This one however is quite exceptional as the whole nursery has a garden concept.

Nice pedestals and pots are incorporated to display their plants and various plants are used to enhance its decor. Needless to say, I had a fabulous time browsing the plants in this nursery :-)

Warisan Hijau Tropics Landscape opens from 8.00am to 6.00pm daily. On weekends, they are opened till 7.00pm. They have been in the business for more than 10 years.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.25 | They have a wide variety of annuals, shrubs and trees. And like its neighbours, they have nice stock of aquatic plants.

I saw nice aquatic plants. In the left pic is water lily and the one in the middle is Mexican sword-plant. The other plant which amazes me is the ylang-ylang.

In one of the shades, I noticed many green ferns, orchids and foliage plants that are very attractive. I also spotted some nice banjo fig plants (in the centre of the left pic below) and spider plants, bird's nest ferns and Noong Nock vines in hanging pots.

Of course, popular shrubs like dieffenbachia, aglaonmea and corn plants that are all good for interior/indoor display are available as well.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.50 | Most of the plants are in pretty good condition. Just look at the caladium shown in the left pic below... it's so lush and healthy looking! The other plants that captured my attention were anthurium and desert rose.

Layout Rating: 4.50 | The whole layout is like a garden. All the plants are placed together to have an attractive effect rather than just placed in groupings by the same types. The way the plants are arranged here has really made my visit a pleasurable one.

Garden Products Rating: 4.00 | They have in stock some really nice decorative ornaments for the garden like water fountains and pots for aquatic plants.

It was pretty quiet when I arrived at this nursery. So I went straight to check out the plants that they have on display in the compound and I saw many interesting bromeliads and some annuals at the back of the nursery.

I was attended by Nicole who was in the office. She mentioned that they are actually into wholesale business and they supply seedlings, green plants, Australian cotta pots, grass, water feature and landscape hardscapes to retailers.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.50 | There are a number of different bromeliads in the shade. Besides that I also saw costus and other foliage shrubs.

The annuals are cosmos and amaranthus.

Plant Condition Rating: 3.50 | Most of the plants are in acceptable condition.

Layout Rating: 3.50 | The place is not packed with plants. Hence, there is ample space for walking.

Garden Products Rating: 4.00 | I saw seed trays which is not a regular item in other nurseries. There were even garden furniture and accessories.

Pun Sam Nursery

The entrance to Pun Sam Nursery is really marvellous. There are lots of multi-coloured flowers and foliage plants, providing a very welcoming effect! This kind of nursery excites me as I will be so looking forward to checking out what's in store inside.

And so I entered its premises with heightened expectations. Come, join me in a tour of this wonderful nursery!

Pun Sam Nursery opens daily froom 9.00am to 5.30pm and during weekends, they close half an hour later. They have been in this business for more than ten years.

I like the fact that this nursery has a diverse variety of plants - from annuals to bonsais, aquatics and big trees and shrubs.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.25 | I love the allamanda, bougainvillea, garden croton and water lilies that I aw on the day of my visit... all looking really fantastic. I also like the pretty frangipani flower with yellow centre and pink edging.

As I walked to the back of the nursery, there were more and more interesting shrubs llike bonsais, desert roses, bamboo, ficus, bucida and Chinese fringe flower plants.

You will be able to find both flowering and non-flowering shrubs, palms and agave here.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | The ferns, flowering plants and many foliage shrubs that were placed in each and every corner of the nursery were all in pretty good condition.

Layout Rating: 4.00 | The plants at the front of the nursery were the ones best arranged. The orderly and neatness however slowly changed to random placing of taller shrubs and trees that were randomly placed on the ground. Still I must say that overall it was quite easy to check out each plant.

Garden Products Rating: 4.00 | I was attracted to the black pots they have in various shapes and sizes. This would be really good for those who wanted to have uniformity in pot colours i.e. all black pots... cool right?

Sri Andalas Nursery

As I walking past the entrance of Sri Andalas Nursery, a man came forward to greet me. He turned out to be the owner of the nursery. So, we had a short conversation before I proceeded to check out his place.

Mr Gopalan has been in the nursery business for about 15 years. The nursery opens from 8.00am to 7.00pm daily. Aside from retailing plants, they also provide garden mainenance and landscaping services.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.00 | There are a number of ornamental plants, both flowering and non-flowering ones, here. I saw some fruit saplings too.

I was attracted to the angelonias (centre pic in the collage below) that were placed right at the entrance. They have both the pink- and blue-coloured ones.

Notice the flower at the top right pic in the collage below? That's quite a pretty allamanda. The flower has orangy brown and yellow colouration. Other than that, I also noticed their gerbera daisies, canna lilies and petunias. I must say they had some really pretty flowers here!

They also have some nice pink aglaonmenas (centre pic in the collage below) for those who loves these kind of pretty foliages. Some lotus plants (bottom right in the collage below) were also spotted.

Further in at the back of the nursery, I was attracted to a few ciku fuits (Manilkara sp.) that were looking quite cute...

Plant Condition Rating: 3.50 | Most of the plants are in acceptable condition.

Layout Rating: 3.00 | The plants are all placed on a slope. Some are on racks and some on the ground. The pathways were not so clear as you walk further in, hence making it a little difficult to browse every one of their plants especially those plants that are placed at the back.

Garden Products Rating: 4.00 | They have lots of plastic and ceramic pots and gardening supplies.

The whole stretch of Selangor Green Lane got me thinking recently how many nurseries are they along that road. Do you know the answer? Looking at the many nurseries lining up here, I think I would never get to visit every nursery in town.

During my recent trip, I came across SMM Landscape Sdn Bhd, which is located at one end of this 'green stretch'. The nursery occupies two lots with big walkways and a big room with lots of garden supplies.

The nursery opens from 8.00am to 7.00pm daily and have been in the business for more than 20 years. Besides retailing plants, they are also a wholesaler and a provider of soft and hard landscaping services.

As I stepped into the nursery, a number of attractive potted live plants gifts got me snapping photos. 'Green' gift... cool!!

Plant Variety Rating: 4.25 | They are lots of plants in this nursery. When I was there, I saw a wide variety of big tree and shrubs. I even spotted a few animal-shaped topiaries.

Amongst the many trees and shrubs in the open space, there were tower fern, palm, pandanus, dracaena, heliconia, bougainvillea, alpinia, yucca, bamboo and even aloe vera plants.

Facing the busy main road were rows of bonsai shrubs. At one corner of the nursery, a variety of aquatic plants caught my eye.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | Most of the plants are in pretty good condition. A number of flowering plants were in bloom during my visit.

Since I visited this nursery before the Chinese New Year (CNY), it was all decked up to usher in the lunar new year. There were red lanterns hung on trees along the main path of the nursery. Oh, the nusery is so filled with festive mood!

As I was trying to look for the nursery owner, a man who was sitting nearby asked me what I need. So I introduced myself and requested for some information regarding the nursery. Another man (who was the owner!) then quickly told me that everyone in Klang knows of their nursery... oh, okie... Anyway he later revealed a few things about the nursery as I continued to check out the place :-)

Poh Soon Garden opens daily from 8.00am to 9.00pm. They have been in business for more than 30 years. I was told that this CNY was their 31st.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.25 | There are quite a number of shrubs, ornamental festive plants and even some small potted succulents and cacti.

I love the many wonderful pots of kalanchoes and chrysanthemums they have there. They have some of the most amazing colours.

The owner also showed me some of his prized lime trees or limau kasturi that he has grown with his own hands. The one in the pic below is about 7 to 8 years old and is selling for more than RM1,000! The rest of the lime trees are about 2 to 3 years old. Lime is called 'kat' in Chinese, a homophone that means auspicious. Bring some of these 'kats' home and you will have plenty of wealth this year, some say ;-)

There are many varieties of plants at the nurseries including popular ones like canna lily, desert rose, ixora, little bird plant, China aster and garden croton.

Plant Condition Rating: 3.75 | Most of the plants look good especially the festive plants.

The brighly coloured chrysanthemums are auspicious flowers that are supposed to bring lots of joy the new year ;-)

Layout Rating: 3.50 | There are many plants in the shade. Most plants are placed at the right hand side of the nursery as you walk in. On the left is where you can find lots of pots and garden supplies. Although the main path is quite big, the aisles between rows of plants are not big.

Garden Products Rating: 4.50 | Plenty of pots and garden supplies are sold there.

I was back at my hometown Ipoh during the Chinese New Year (CNY) holidays recently. A day before the first day of CNY, I happened to be at Greentown, the commercial hub of the city, a short distance from Ipoh Parade where Parkson Grand is located. I was told that there is a nursery around the area (actually two!) so I made a few turns to look for it and guess what... the nursery was just next to the shoplots!

As it was CNY season, many popular festive flowers and plants (all colourful and attractive!) were placed right at the entrance for the convenience of those who are doing last-minute shopping :-D

At the back of the nursery, there were dozens of foliage and flowering shrubs on display.

Hock Loke Siew Nursery opens daily from 7.30am to 7.00pm. They have been in this businesss for more than 10 years.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.25 | Besides festive plants, I saw lots other wonderful shrubs, ferns and trees in the shade as well as out in the open.

One particular plant that caught my eye was the air plants or tillandsias. They have plenty here!

I was also amazed by the wide variety of plants that have great significance for the Chinese. I was fascinated by the ornamental pepper, chrysanthemum, bromeliad, hydrangea, narcissus, sakura, pussy willow and five-finger fruit plants.

The other parts of the nursery were packed with many ornamental ferns, short shrubs, bonsai trees and orchids. I also noticed many trailing plants in hanging baskets.

Plant Condition Rating: 3.50 | Overall, the plants looked fine but those festive plants were more fresh and nice.

Layout Rating: 3.50 | The plants out in the open are placed in rows on the ground. Those in the shade are either on racks or on the ground. Some of the walking spaces were quite tight.

Garden Products Rating: 4.75 | There are plenty of garden ornaments, pots and garden supplies available here. The thing that captured my attention were those colourful pinwheels ;-)

Fancy meeting a dinosaur at a nursery? Well, come then to Chung Lim Garden! Not only was I greeted by a pretty neat-looking signage upon arriving at this nursery I saw sculptures of dinosaurs and water fountains, all made of cement, as I stepped into the premises. For a moment I thought that I have landed myself in Jurassic Park!

The dinosaurs really brighten up the nursery. I actually asked if they were for sale and the attendant told me that they are. Anyway I ddn't buy any :-)

Chung Lim Garden opens daily from 8.00am to 6.30pm. The operator has been in this business for more than ten years now.

The place is quite big and I was glad that the weather was not that hot when I was there. With so many wonderful plants and whimsy ornaments here and there, walking around and checking out their plants was a breeze.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.50 | They have lots of ornamental vines, ferns and shrubs.

As Chinese New Year was just around the corner during my visit, there were many festive ornamental plants for sale.

Since bright coloured ornaments are everything during Chinese New Year, there were lots of colourful and auspicious plants like chyrsanthemum, hydrangea, lime, mona lavender and kalanchoe stocked up.

Aside from small potted plants, there are lots of big and shaped plants as well. I saw some palms (in large black bags) at one corner of the nursery.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.50 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

Layout Rating: 4.25 | Some plants are in the shade but many are placed in the open. There is ample space to move around. And what I like most is that the plants are grouped in orderly fashion.

Garden Products Rating: 3.75 | They have pots of various sizes besides multiple garden supplies.

I was shopping at Ikano Cold Storage one day when I came across many nice-looking and colourful potted plants that were all decked up with Chinese New Year (CNY) ornaments. I wanted to see more of their plants, hence I asked the promoter in-charge for their nursery address and contact details. I was so glad that she readily furnished me with the information!

And guess what... I headed off immediately to Cheras, where the nursery is located, to check out the plants there as I had wanted to get some nice CNY plants for my home ;-)

Unfortunately when I reached the nursery, it was already late afternoon and it was not so bright due to the cloudy sky. Hence, I wasn't able to get clear shots of the plants that were in the shade (sorry!). Secondly, one of the plants I wanted to get was out of stock already... sigh :-(

Springleaf Garden is a wholesaler as well as a retailer, and is opened daily from 8.00am to 7.00pm.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.00 | There are quite a number of festive plants that are suitable to decorate the house during CNY. Other than that, there are also some pitcher plants, spider plants and small bonsai plants.

I love the bright and colourful CNY plants like lime, celosia (phoenix tail), Indian azalea, ornamental pepper, kalanchoe, chrysanthemum and even bulbs like hyacinth and narcissus. Some people believe that these plants will bring about good begining for the year when they get some of the auspicious flowers home.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.75 | The plants are all in very good condition. The pic below shows the varieties of orchids there.

Layout Rating: 3.75 | The place is quite small actually but the orderly arrangment of plants make it easy for customers to check out their stocks.

Garden Products Rating: 3.00 | They have good stock of decorative pots.

I have always noticed a particular nursery whenever I travel from Petaling Jaya to AEON Bukit Tinggi Klang (to patronise Lavender Bistro!). The nursery is in fact very noticeable from the busy Jalan Langat. This time, a week before Chinese New Year (CNY), I decided to drop by to check out what they have.

Green Grass is well stocked with many CNY favourites that include lime, chrysanthemum, kalanchoe and many small potted flowering plants. They are all displayed right at the entrance and it's such a wonderful sight to behold! As I was browsing the plants, the owner was quick to check with me if I was looking for any plants...

Green Grass opens daily from 8.00am to 7.00pm daily. They are mainly into garden and landscaping work.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.00 | There are lots of big bonsai trees and many more ornamental shrubs.

I am amazed at how little soil that are at the bottom of these big bonsai trees...

I spotted some nice shrubs like Indian head ginger, Chinese fringe flower and some aquatic plants.

And of course, there are many small potted flowering plants and auspicious plants for Chinese New Year like the little bird plant.

Also at one corner, they have grass...

Plant Condition Rating: 4.00 | At another corner I spotted some wonderful false agaves. Nonetheless, the plants that they have in the nursery are all in pretty good condition.

Layout Rating: 3.70 | The nursery is all packed with many big items - big plants and pots. Hence, it's easy to move around.

Garden Products Rating: 4.00 | They have bonsai pots, water fountain and many other hardscape materials.

I had initially thought that I would not be able to find any nursery along Jalan Kebun as the place was very quiet although it was a main road. But what a delight it was when I spotted one when I had almost given up... hurray :-)

Perniagaan Jalur Wira opens from 8.00am to 6.00pm daily. Although the nursery appears old and seemingly 'worn out' as one enters the place, once inside the premises interesting plants are aplenty!

Plant Variety Rating: 3.75 | There are lots of interesting ferns, non-flowering and flowering shrubs.

The anthurium, costus, rain lily, billbergia, frangipani and crossandra plants were blooming in the midst of many shrubs there.

Plant Condition Rating: 3.75 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

The ginger, aglaonema, mandarin plant, peace lily, begonia, dieffenbachia and cordyline were all in pretty good shape.

Layout Rating: 3.75 | Some plants are in hanging pots, some on the ground and others on racks. Although the nursery tried to cram as many pots as possible into the somewhat limited space, I was still able to move around pretty easily.

Garden Products Rating: 3.50 | They also sell soil, pots and gardening accessories.

Rumpun Damai Nursery

Rumpun Damai Nursery is another one of the many nurseries at Kampung Melayu Sungai Buloh that captivated me. I was drawn to the beautiful variegated bucida trees they have here. Also the sight of the many wonderful and colourful foliages is incredible.

The main road where all the nurseries are located seems to be pretty busy (while I was there). So if you are driving along this road, don't get overly excited when you notice a plant that you like and stop suddenly... else the car behind you might crash into yours :-)

Plant Variety Rating: 4.25 | There are lots of interesting trees for landscaping.

Other than bucida, there are garden croton, cordyline, hibiscus, ixora, rain lily, heliconia, powder puff, alocasia, brunfelsia and flaming beauty.

I also spotted some water lettuces.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.25 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

Layout Rating: 4.00 | All plants are neatly arranged and organised in various groupings. It's a pleasant experience walking around the nursery as all the shrubs are at their best. The greens and colourful foliage of shrubs are so pleasing to the eyes.

Garden Products Rating: NA | I didn't notice any gardening supplies on sale while I was there.

It feels refreshing to just stroll along Kampung Melayu at Sungai Buloh. There are just so many nurseries parked along both sides of the central road that cuts across this modern village. Each nursery is packed with many wonderful plants that are neatly arranged. Also the newly erected yellow signboards by Jabatan Pertanian (Department of Agriculture) made the place looks very uniformed. I also noticed that these nurseries are under the Projek Hub Bunga (Flower Hub Project). Well, don't ask me for the details about this project though :-)

Seri Kehijauan Nursery is one of the many nurseries here. I visited the nursery on a Sunday which probably explains why there was no attendant on-site.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.75 | There are lots of outdoor shrubs.

They have beautiful costus, heliconia, bougainvillea and Bauhinia kockiana plants.

Other shrubs like Mexican heather, hibiscus, bucida, canna lily, cordyline, cycad, ixora and garden croton were looking really attractive as well.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.25 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

Layout Rating: 4.00 | The nursery space is narrow and deep. All plants are very neatly arranged and there are ample space for walking.

Garden Products Rating: 2.50 | They sell soil right at the front of the nursery.

This is the second nursery that I notice along Jalan Morib in Banting. Its big signage caught my attention. Unlike other nurseries that I visited in the vicinity of Kuala Langat, the signage says Kebun Semaian Pokok (nursery) instead of Kedai Bunga (flower shop).

Lim & Family Enterprise has been in business for more than 10 years and is opened from 9.00am to 6.30pm daily, closing only for about five days during Chinese New Year.

Plant Variety Rating: 3.75 | There are lots of popular foliage plants, ferns and flowering shrubs.

Some plants that I do not normally see at most other usual nurseries but found here are herbs and fruit trees. I notice that they have lots of varieties but small quantities.

Plant Condition Rating: 4.25 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

Layout Rating: 3.75 | In the section that's facing the road, the plants are more neatly arranged than the plants in other parts of the nursery.

However, checking out the plants is easy and of course, milling around the nursery is a breeze.

I was glad to have stopped by S. K. Agrobase. Although the workers were busy doing their work when I stepped into the place, they were quick to attend to my needs, which made me felt welcomed :-)

S. K. Agrobase has been in this business for more than 20 years here at Kampung Melayu Sungai Buloh. The nursery opens daily from 8.00am to 5.00pm, and closes for a week to celebrate Hari Raya every year. The nursery has plenty of captivating plants - trees and shrubs that are very suitable to be planted out in the open and for landscaping purpose.

Plant Variety Rating: 4.25 | There are lots of flowering and non-flowering shrubs and water plants.

When I was there I noticed many pretty blooms like allamanda, lotus, blackberry lily, heliconia, passiflora, sandpaper vine, powder puff and firecracker plants.

There were lots of gorgeous greens and palms as well.

If you are looking for bamboos and big palms, you will be able to find many here...

Plant Condition Rating: 4.25 | Most of the plants are in good condition.

Layout Rating: 4.50 | It's a wonderful to walk around this very spacious nursery. Firstly, the owner has a very beautiful house in the compound with a garden full of wonderful vines like bougainilleas and chalice vines.

Secondly, all plants are arranged in a very orderly manner and it is just so easy to spot the plant you are looking for. And lastly, there is big pathway to walk around... just like strolling in a park!

Garden Products Rating: 4.00 | The black pots and water fountains they have in stock are quite unique and have traditional jars appeal.
