			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<h3>Spreading Cells Can Cause a Condition Called Endometriosis</h3>
<p>Pain can be the first sign that something&#8217;s wrong — cramping pain in the pelvis or pain during sex. But for women of childbearing age, difficulty getting pregnant is most often what leads them to see a doctor. The culprit, endometriosis, is difficult to diagnose and may require a surgical procedure.</p>
<p>Endometriosis, or &#8220;endo&#8221; for short, is caused by tissue that normally grows along the lining of the uterus that begins to grow elsewhere — on the ovaries, for example. This “unauthorized” growth may be what causes pain.</p>
<p>Researcher Dr. Pamela Stratton is chief of the gynecology consult service at NIH&#8217;s National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). She says the really puzzling thing is that the degree of pain is not always related to the amount of endo. A woman feeling low levels of pain might have a number of large endo cell masses, yet a woman in a lot of pain might have only trace amounts.</p>
<p>Treatments may reduce her pain and improve fertility. The good news is that endo can often be treated while it is being diagnosed. There are two types of tests that can show images of unauthorized tissue growth—ultrasound and MRI—but only a surgical procedure called laparoscopy can confirm that the growth is endo. After masses are removed during the procedure, a lab determines if they are endo.</p>
<p>Ending pain permanently, however, can be more difficult, Stratton explains. For many women, the pain returns, signaling regrowth of the tissue. Because endo cells are fed by estrogen, some doctors prescribe estrogen blockers to deprive endo of its food source.</p>
<p>&#8220;Treating the pain by altering hormone levels gets much more tricky,&#8221; Stratton says. Lowering estrogen can limit endo growth, but it can also cause unpleasant side effects like hot flashes, unwanted hair growth and weight gain.</p>
<p>NIH scientists are working on new ways to treat endo. In one study, researchers are hoping an estrogen drug called raloxifene can limit endo growth. Stratton and her colleagues are also working with other specialists to better understand how the brain processes the pain caused by endo. Other factors such as chronic stress may make endo pain worse.</p>

<p>Our nose, mouth, and eyes are visible entry points for germs. Mucus and tears contain an enzyme that break down the cell walls of many types of bacteria. Saliva is also anti-bacterial. Our nasal-passages, lungs, throat and skin are lined with mast cells (resident cells of connective tissue) which play an important defensive role against bacteria and viruses. What&#8217;s more, our skin secretes anti-bacteria substances. Any germ that tries to reproduce in our body have to first go by these defenses.</p>
<h3>Immune System Defense Inside The Body</h3>
<p>Once the germ breaks past this first set of defense, it will be dealt with by the immune system at different level. The major components of this other set of defense mechanisms include our spleen, thymus (a ductless gland in our chest), lymph system, antibodies, bone marrow, white blood cells, complement system (a series of proteins) and hormones.</p>

<li><span style="color: #333300;"><strong>Awaken during sleep.</strong></span> You awaken frequently in the night and then have trouble falling back to sleep again.</li>
<li><span style="color: #333300;"><strong>Wake up too early.</strong></span> You awaken too early in the morning.</li>
<li><span style="color: #333300;"><strong>Still feeling tired after a long night sleep.</strong></span> You frequently don&#8217;t feel well rested despite spending 7–8 hours or more asleep at night.</li>
<li><span style="color: #333300;"><strong>Sleepy during daytime.</strong></span> You feel sleepy during the day and fall asleep within 5 minutes if you have an opportunity to nap, or you fall asleep at inappropriate times during the day.</li>

<p>Also keep in mind that, although children can show some of these same signs of a sleep disorder, they often do not show signs of excessive daytime sleepiness. Instead, they may seem overactive and have difficulty focusing and concentrating. And most of this problem will not be from injury, but will root from out-of-shape muscles that cause poor posture and alignment and lack of spinal support.</p>
<p>Back problems are primarily muscle problems, according to muscular-skeletal medicine specialists. Most patients are hard to convince of that. People who exercise on a regular basis and have core stability have better backs. This can be seen from a professional athlete with common back or neck strain is quite rare. Athletes may take hits that cause a back injury but aside from that, their backs are in good shape because they are in good shape.</p>
<p>Specialist recommends daily walking, core strengthening and stretching, combined with a pinch of common sense for the back pain treatment and prevention of most back problems. Pilates-type exercises that build strong abdominal and oblique (core) muscles are particularly good for back health, although it is not for everyone.</p>
<p>The usual route in back pain treatment is to see a family doctor and then a physiotherapist who will assess any mechanical issues and recommend exercise to suit.</p>
<p>Often pain will get a bit worse with exercise before it gets better. For most people, the pain will go away and they will feel better if they continue on their given exercise routine. This is where common sense comes to play. If pain on exercise is too great, a reassessment and a visit to a back specialist may be required.</p>

It is a chronic, often disabling disease that damages the central nervous system, which is made up of the brain and spinal cord. The disease attacks the protective myelin covering of the central nervous system, causing inflammation and often destroying the myelin in patches.</p>
<p>When this happens, the natural flow of nerve impulses along nerve fibers is interrupted or distorted. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is thought to be an auto immune disorder, which means the body’s immune system incorrectly attacks the person’s healthy tissue.</p>
<h3>Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis</h3>
<p>The most common symptoms of multiple sclerosis are blindness in one eye, double vision, sensory problems, tingling and numbness in one side of the body, weakness in one side, and fatigue.</p>
<p>Many of these symptoms are also common to other disorders. At the same time, symptoms may come and go, making it hard to diagnose and only few people, if any, experience all the possible symptoms.</p>

It works round the clock protecting us from the millions of bacteria, viruses, toxins and parasites that we come into contact with daily. However, we typically pay attention to this complex and intricate defense system only when it fails to work. And that is usually when we already start to feel unwell.</p>
<p>We inhale airborne germs, bacteria and viruses everyday. When our immune system is working fine, it eliminates all these bodily invaders successfully without us feeling unwell. On the occasions when we come down with flu, for example, the illness is a visible sign that our immune system has failed to get rid of the flu virus that has entered our body.</p>
<h3>How the Immune System Works</h3>
<p>Our body’s immune system works in the following ways:</p>
<ol>
<li>It establishes a barrier that prevents viruses and bacteria from entering our body at various entry points: our eyes, nose, ears, mouth, genitalia and skin.</li>
<li>In the event of a virus or bacteria getting into our body, the immune system detects it and tries to eliminate it before it can reproduce itself.</li>
<li>If the virus or bacteria starts reproducing in our body, the immune system will continues to try to kill it.</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Traveling to east generally causes more severe jet lag than traveling to west because traveling east requires you to shorten the day, and your biological clock is better able to adjust to a longer day than a shorter day.</p>
<h3>Dealing with Jet Lag</h3>
<p>Fortunately for travelers, a few preventive measures and treatments seem to help relieve jet lag:</p>
<ul>
<li><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Adjust your biological clock. </strong></span><br />
Several days before traveling to a new time zone, gradually shift your sleeping and eating times to match with those at your destination. You can also adjust your clock by using light therapy. This involves being exposed to special lights, many times brighter than ordinary household light, for several hours near the time you want to wake up. Alternatively, after arrival, spend a lot of time outdoors to make sure your body gets the light cues it needs to adjust to the new time zone.</li>
<li><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>Avoid alcohol and caffeine.</strong></span><br />
Although it may be tempting to drink alcohol to relieve the stress of travel and make it easier to fall asleep, you&#8217;re more likely to sleep lighter and wake up in the middle of the night when the effects of the alcohol wear off. Caffeine can help keep you awake longer, but caffeine can also make it harder for you to fall asleep if its effects haven&#8217;t worn off by the time you are ready to go to sleep.</li>
<li><span style="color: #ff6600;"><strong>What about melatonin? </strong></span><br />
Your body produces this hormone that makes you drowsy. Melatonin builds up in your body as the night progresses and decreases when daylight arrives. Melatonin is available as an over-the-counter supplement. Because melatonin is considered safe when used over a period of days or weeks and seems to contribute to feeling sleepy, it has been suggested as a treatment for jet lag. But melatonin&#8217;s effectiveness is controversial, and its safety when used over a prolonged period is unclear. Some studies find that taking melatonin supplements before bedtime for several days after arrival in a new time zone can make it easier to fall asleep at the proper time. Other studies find that melatonin does not help to relieve jet lag.</li>
</ul>
<p>Be aware that adjusting to a new time zone may take several days. If you are going to be away for just a few days, it may be better to stick to your original sleep and wake times as much as possible, rather than adjusting your biological clock too many times in rapid succession. <span style="font-size: 78%;">Courtesy of National Institute of Health.</span></p>

<p>The research, done by a research team from Burgos, Spain, says that people with sleep apnea &#8211; a condition that causes irregular breathing and snoring – are seven times more probable to crash than other drivers.</p>
<p>While in United Kingdom, a poll done shows that up to 11% of drivers admit to have fallen asleep while driving.</p>
<p>Sleep apnea is caused by the throat temporarily closing during sleep. The sleeper wakes violently because of lack of oxygen and suffocating.</p>
<p>This condition, which is more frequent in overweight people, can cause severe tiredness because insufficient sleep time.</p>
<p>Sleep apnea can be identified only by monitoring the way a person sleep.</p>

<li><strong>Be active and maintain a healthy weight.</strong> Be physically active for at least 30 minutes on 5 or more days each week.</li>
<li><strong>Don’t smoke.</strong> Quit now if you do.</li>
<li><strong>Eat well.</strong> A healthy diet includes whole-grain breads and cereals and 5 to 9 servings of fruits and vegetables every day.</li>
<li><strong>Avoid UV radiation</strong> from overexposure to the sun, sunlamps and tanning booths.</li>
<li><strong>Avoid and treat infections that can cause cancer.</strong> Talk to your doctor about avoiding viruses that cause cancer, and about any stomach problems.<strong> </strong></li>
<li><strong>Avoid chemicals and other substances that raise your risk of getting cancer.</strong> Follow instructions and safety tips on the products you use.</li>
</ul>
<p>It is important to talk to a health professional about your specific cancer risks and what you can do to lower them. Make sure to discuss the cancers that people in your family have had.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Due to the rise in melanoma cases, tanning – both outdoors and indoors – has garnered a bad reputation. Movies such as “There’s Something About Mary” openly mock overly tan people, portraying them with leathery skin and deep wrinkles. Additionally, a recent public service announcement featuring several prominent (and nearly nude) celebrities ends with the warning, &#8220;If you leave the house without sunscreen, you might as well be naked.&#8221; However, moderate use of <a href="http://www.uvalux.com/" target="_blank">tanning beds</a> can actually have a beneficial impact on your health.</p>
<p>Tanning beds were originally used in Europe to help Europeans compensate for the loss of sunshine in the winter. Upon reaching American soil, however, tanning has largely been used for cosmetic reasons. Tan skin is often equated with overall health, and despite the warnings regarding skin cancer and premature skin aging, many men and women have made tanning a permanent part of their beauty and health routines. It’s not uncommon for gyms to offer free or inexpensive tanning to their guests, and there are tanning businesses everywhere.</p>
<p>Sunlight is responsible for supplying your body with Vitamin D, which in turn helps with strong bones and teeth and blood formation. When Vitamin D passes through your liver and kidneys, it is turned into calcitriol, which helps your body to fight disease and helps to regulate your body’s levels of calcium and phosphorous.Under normal circumstances, 95% of your body’s necessary Vitamin D comes from exposure to the sun, but with the use of sun screen – even as low as SPF 8 – your body is deprived of this necessary vitamin.</p>
<p>Other than sunlight, Vitamin D can be found in cold water fish such as salmon and trout, and in milk that has been fortified with Vitamin D. For vegetarians and vegans, this presents an obvious challenge, as well as those who are lactose intolerant or who simply don’t like to drink milk. Vitamin D deficiency leads to Rickets, which is marked by weakened and bent bones; and muscle weakness and pain in adults.</p>
<p>However, recent studies are beginning to suggest that moderate use of tanning beds not only counteracts a Vitamin D deficiency, but can be used to treat such diseases as hypertension; Osteoporosis; Type 1 and 2 Diabetes; breast, colon and prostate cancer; skin conditions such as Psoriasis, acne, eczema (and can help to camouflage scars and stretch marks); Fibromyalgia; rheumatoid arthritis (along with other forms of arthritis); and PMS. Tanning can also help with depression and Seasonal Affective Disorder.</p>
<p>Unlike tanning in the sun, tanning indoors can be controlled. If you go outdoors without sunscreen, you are exposed to sunlight for the entire time that you&#8217;re out. However, you can choose to slather on the sunscreen while outdoors, and plan your tanning for specific lengths of time. It is estimated that you can get all of your necessary Vitamin D by spending between 10and 20 minutes in the sunlight every day without sunscreen. Due to the higher intensity of a tanning bed, eight to 10 minutes two or three times a week is all you need.</p>
<p>The key to using a tanning bed for this purpose is to avoid getting sunburn. If you have very fair skin, only use the bed minimally. If you have darker skin, then it may be necessary to stay in for a little longer, as darker skin doesn’t absorb Vitamin D as readily as lighter skin. Thanks to the FDA, beds are required to post recommended exposure levels, which are usually located on the side of the bed. Many beds actually have charts printed on them that show how to gradually and safely increase your tanning, in the event that you are tanning for cosmetic reasons.</p>
<p>Another way to avoid sunburn is to tan “dry.” Most tanning businesses offer various tanning lotions intended to boost your tan. However, these have the effect of intensifying your tan, and if you are only tanning for a short time in order to attain Vitamin D, such intensification methods aren’t really necessary. You would only need these if you were also going after a more cosmetic tan.</p>
<p>Tanning in a bed can actually help to prevent burning later, as darker skin is less prone to sunburn. Additionally, tanning makes muscle definition more obvious, which is why you see so many bodybuilders with dark tans. If one of your reasons for tanning is for the latter reason, however, it is important to note that a darker tan can be attained while still limiting yourself to shorter sessions; you can increase your time by just two or three minutes, and you will notice a huge difference in your results.</p>
<p>One final note: It is no longer necessary to tan in a confining capsule that allows little to no movement. While that style of tanning bed is still popular and prevalent, there are also tanning booths that allow you to stand and hold onto overhead handles to ensure even tanning. These sometimes cost a little more, but if you tend toward claustrophobia, or don’t like the thought that your tanning bed may not have been properly cleaned after the person who went in before you, then this is a good option.</p>
<p>If you are someone who has always balked at the idea of tanning, take the time to consider how often you are outdoors, and whether you suffer from any of the conditions detailed above.  If you are not getting enough sunlight, or are concerned about going outdoors without sunscreen, then tanning may be the solution you are overlooking.</p>

<li>Worsen with coughing or sneezing.</li>

<li>Stiff neck.</li>
<li>Hallucinating/feeling dreamy/delusional.</li>
<li>Experiencing seizure.</li>
<li>Feeling weak and numb.</li>
<li>Blurry vision or cannot see at all or become blind.</li>
<li>Having headache for more than a week, worsen at night or early morning.</li>
<li>Nausea, vomiting.</li>
<li>Loss of appetite and body weight.</li>
<li>A hypertension or high blood pressure, cancer or HIV sufferer.</li>
</ul>
<p>See a doctor if you have one or a combination of above factors.</p>

<p>Hormones are just one of the things your body is coping with at perimenopause, and for some people, it becomes the straw that breaks the camel’s back.</p>
<p>Regular contact with nature, physical exercise, and yoga are all stress relievers. Some studies show that applied relaxation exercises, such as meditation and deep breathing, can decrease the number and intensity of hot flashes and mood-related symptoms.</p>
<p>Doing something you enjoy such as gardening, reading, cooking or walking, can be relaxing, as long as you do not force yourself to set a record or create a flawless result.</p>
<p>Planning ahead and setting goals can also be excellent tools for women at this stage in their lives. The women who are going to be healthiest as they move through live and probably have the most vibrancy and joy are ones who are going to take some responsibility for the direction of their life.</p>
<p>It is a good time to reflect on where you want to go. Women might need to learn a few more coping skill, but they can do it. It is having faith in yourself to come through the other side.</p>

<p>Just imagine a bowl of cheesy mushroom soup with crouton or mixed with delicious and creamy cereals. Tempting!</p>
<p>Its legendary effects as herbal remedy now grab the attention of Western scientists to do research by research on mushrooms.</p>
<p>Mushrooms have been practiced in traditional Chinese and Japanese medicine since thousands of years ago.</p>
<p>In Asia, common mushrooms are used to relieve pain and treat illnesses such as arthritis.</p>

<p>So it is not surprising if mushroom species which is often classified as in the same class as fruits and vegetables will appear in its own class in natural healing.</p>
<p>Martin Powell, a traditional Chinese medicine practitioner, shares his knowledge how the &#8216;magical touch&#8217; of mushrooms as he claims, can be use to increase the effectiveness of cancer treatment.</p>
<p>According to him, mushrooms have unique benefits for those who undergo conventional cancer treatment because they are safe to be use with modern medications.</p>
<p>There are many herbal medications which were not accepted by doctors because of the possibilities of interaction with drugs, but the mushrooms is regarded safe and have been used by doctors as additional treatment in the West.</p>
<p>&#8220;Coriolus versicolor is the most studied to support its usage on cancer and been used for cancer therapy in Japan and China. At late 1980s, sales of Coriolus in Japan is estimated at USD600 million,&#8221; said Powell.</p>
<p>Powell is also a biochemist skilled in Chinese medicine when he furthered his study in the area at London School of Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine and Shanghai Clinic of Traditional Chinese Medicine, China.</p>

<p>Powell stated, two extracts from Coriolus versicolor were tested profoundly in Japan and China and found can increase the lifespan of breast, lung, stomach, intestine and nasopharyngeal cancer’s patient.</p>
<p>&#8220;This mushroom now is used widely to support the body immune system in controlling cancer. Radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment will weaken the body immune system and taking this mushroom helps the treatment effectiveness, reduces side effects and supports the immune system.&#8221;</p>
<h3>Cancer Relapse</h3>
<p>&#8220;Continuous ingestion after treatment helps to prevent cancer from returning. Beside, it also used in several chronic virus infection problems,&#8221; said Powell.</p>
<p>In Western medic, when they assess certain diseases, they do not look at the person as a whole though it is important especially for diseases at acute stage.</p>
<p>Powell is drawn by how Chinese do their evaluation on health and diseases.</p>
<p>&#8220;It have connection with &#8216;yin and yang&#8217;, the seven emotions. For instance heart is happiness, spleen is anxiety, kidney is fear, liver is anger and lung is sadness. While the concept of balance and harmonization is also considered as a thing that must be achieved in life,&#8221; he explained.</p>
<p>The most used mushrooms are Coriolus, Cordyceps sinensis and Reishi (Lingzhi).</p>
<p>Lingzhi is used widely to treat rhinitis because it has characteristic of antihistamine, anti-inflammation and immune modulator substance.</p>
<p>It helps those who low in energy and men with low sexual function.</p>

<p>He said, &#8220;I will take Coriolus when I catch a cold, when traveling and when I’m feeling stressful. Taking vitamin C and Coriolus helps to avoid infection. In cancer problems such as breast cancer, stomach cancer, intestine cancer, prostate cancer, liver cancer and leukemia, taking it (Coriolus) is able to help support the immune system.&#8221;</p>
<p>&#8220;In UK, some veterinarians give Coriolus the cats and dogs that have cancer at late stage and it helps to increase their appetite and quality of life of the pets.&#8221;</p>
<p>Research has shown that Shitake, Maitake, Reishi, Cordyceps sinensis and Coriolus versicolor are antitumors.</p>
<p>Maitake, Coriolus and Reishi also are anti inflammation while Coriolus and Reishi are beneficial to protect the liver.</p>
<p>Powell explained, &#8220;Coriolus and Reishi have hypoglycemic substance (reducing the sugar level in blood) while Cordyceps has steroidal activity.</p>
<p>&#8220;This mushroom contains long chain polysaccharide, beta-glucans and proteoglycan and enzymes to avoid oxidative pressure, stop uncontrolled cell growth and stimulate detoxification.&#8221;</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Respect contributes to a child&#8217;s emotional development. It’s one of the many core strengths that provide a strong foundation for future health, happiness, and productivity. The development of respect is a lifelong process, but its roots are in early childhood.</p>
<p>It is important to inculcate respect in children as children will belong to many groups, meet many kinds of people, and will need to be able to listen, negotiate, compromise, and cooperate.</p>

<p>Developing respect enables your child to accept others and to see the value in diversity. He can see that even group needs many styles and much strength to succeed. He will value each person in the group for their talents.</p>
<p>When children respect &#8211; and even celebrate diversity, they find the world to be a more interesting, complex, and safe place. Just as understanding replaces ignorance, respect replaces fear.</p>
<p>Children with respect have better social and teamwork skills. They speak kindly and are more friendly, play fairly, say “please”, “sorry”, and ‘thank you”, clean up after themselves, share, wait their turn, and keep unkind thoughts to themselves.</p>
<p>Children who are disrespectful to teachers and classmates exhibit this same trait in other aspects of their lives, and they are not as successful in either school or the workplace.</p>
<p>A child who cannot respect others is incapable of self-respect. He will he quick to find fault with others, but can also be his own worst critic. Too often, the trait a child ridicules in others reflects something similar he hates in himself.</p>
<p>Not only that. The core of all violence is a lack of respect, for oneself and for others. In fact, without this value, children are more likely to become violent.</p>
<p>How do we teach children to be a respectful person? The golden rule is to treat your children the way you want to be treated. Remember, children always learn from their parents’ actions, attitudes, and behaviors.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>A person is said to experience panic disorder if he or she has these criteria:</p>
<ul>
<li>Panic      attack that happens repeatedly unexpectedly</li>
<li>Takes      at least a month to be in anxiety of possibility of getting the panic      attack again</li>
<li>Feeling      anxious about the bad effects that can arise because of the panic attack      which brings to affect to or change of behavior.</li>
<li>The      attack and disorder happens not caused by other mental illnesses, physical      illnesses or effect of substances or drugs.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Two Conditions of Panic Disorder</h3>
<h4><span style="color: #993300;">Situational PD</span></h4>
<p>Happens when the individual is at certain places such as supermarket, a crowded place or in a lift, with assumption that he or she may get panic attack when being at the certain place and assumes that it is hard to get help and to save her/himself if he/she gets the attack. In the end the individual will shun the place. This condition is also known as <em>agoraphobia with panic attack</em>.</p>
<h4><span style="color: #993300;">Spontaneous PD</span></h4>
<p>There are also individuals who get panic attack without reason. Panic attack happens spontaneously like when the person is shocked, recall past traumatic memories and so on. This condition is also known as <em>spontaneous panic attack</em>. There are people who get this panic attack during their sleep.</p>
