Obama said that the energy and environmental policy will change dramatically under his administration even if the economical crisis will continue. Everybody is waiting for a change and this new administration and Congress should encourage the use of clean energy technologies for the national energy grid. Now the hard work begins. Change is on the way,” said Dan Farber, member of the lobbying group Cleantech & Green Business for Obama. These words are encouraging and hopefully, change will come and Obama will stick to his energy plan which consists of a $150 billion funding for clean technologies on a 10-year period. The plan is to come up with programs where energy efficiency, low-carbon fuels and renewable energies will be promoted. Also the greenhouse gas emissions will have to be reduced dramatically for a cleaner Earth, not only USA. The Obama administration will concentrate first to implement smaller measures because the energy legislation will have a hard time to pass (one reason would be the slumping economy) therefore Obama will focus on efficiency and renewable energy mandates. “One of the biggest setbacks is trying to find the money to pay for all of this. This isn’t free. Reality will set in and trying to find money…is really going to temper the possibilities over the next 12 months,” said David Kurzman, managing director of Kurzman CleanTech Research. A positive thing is that Barack Obama believes that clean technologies are related to economical development as harnessing renewable energies means that new workplaces will be created. “From a purely economic perspective, finding the new driver of our economy is going to be critical. There is no better potential driver that pervades all aspects of our economy than a new energy economy,” said the future president of the US in an interview for the Time magazine. During his campaign, Obama talked very much about clean energy and technologies, and about the environment and it’s very possible that renewable energies will become a really profitable business if the Obama administration manages to implement the energy legislation. “There’s a growing sense that investing in infrastructure, even if it means more deficit spending, is a good thing because it will help economic growth in the short and long term. And green energy has come to be regarded as a 21st-century infrastructure play,” said Ethan Zindler from New Energy Finance.

Delegates from other countries say that without Congress' support, Obama won't be able to keep whatever promises he makes when he arrives here Friday to try to seal a deal on capping emissions. Without the full cooperation of the world's second-biggest emitter behind China, any broad agreement to address global warming by the 192 nations gathered in Copenhagen will simply fall apart, they say.

"Unless the U.S. has the political will to make the necessary sacrifices, none of this will work," said Sudanese diplomat Lumumba Di-Aping, the lead representative for more than 130 developing nations at the summit.

Obama has proposed cutting greenhouse gas emissions by about 17% by 2020, compared with levels in 2005. He says a firm cap on carbon dioxide produced by U.S. industry, as mandated by a House bill passed in June, will help slow global warming and provide an incentive for companies to invest in cleaner energy. The Senate is to debate an energy bill early next year.

"There are many (U.S.) companies and investors … waiting for Congress to act, waiting for some certainty before they make these investments," Commerce Secretary Gary Locke said. He said Chinese companies were moving ahead with "green" technology: "If we don't watch out … they'll end up with all those jobs."

Even Republicans who say global warming may be a problem, including Sen. Sam Brownback, R-Kan., say a cap on carbon emissions would damage the U.S. economy by pushing up energy prices. Carbon emitters such as power plants and factories would have to pay for permits to keep burning coal and oil at the same levels. The cost, Republicans say, would be passed on to consumers in higher energy bills.

The United States House of Representatives has passed an Energy Bill requiring utility companies to produce 15 per cent of their electricity from renewable sources such as wind and solar power by 2020. The Bill passed in the House on a 241-172 vote, despite strong opposition from electric utility companies and the White House, which has threatened to veto the measure. Twenty six Republicans voted in favor and nine Democrats opposed the bill. A senior analyst for Lazard Capital Markets described the bill as "a significant positive step towards creating a cohesive energy policy." The renewable electricity standard applies only to investor-owned utilities and exempts rural electric cooperatives, municipal utilities, the Tennessee Valley Authority and the state of Hawaii from the mandate. The bill also calls for stronger energy efficiency standards for appliances and lighting and incentives for building more energy-efficient buildings. The bill bans the sale of 100-watt incandescent light bulbs by 2012 and requires that all bulbs be 300% more efficient than today’s ordinary bulbs by 2020. The bill also includes a range of loan guarantees, federal grants and tax breaks for alternative energy programs. These include building biomass factories, research into making ethanol from wood chips and switch grass and producing better batteries for hybrid cars. The bill will repeal a tax break for oil companies from 2009, and another tax break relating to income from foreign oil production. Critics of the two tax breaks called them loopholes that the industry had taken advantage of. The 786-page House energy bill does not include an increase in fuel-efficiency standards for cars and light trucks. That issue, as well as whether to force major increases in the use of E85 fuel as a substitute for gasoline, were left to be negotiated when the House bill is merged with energy legislation the Senate passed in June."There's a war going on against energy from fossil fuels" said Representative Ralph Hall, Republican-Texas. Representative Joe Barton predicted the bill "isn't going to go anywhere" because President Bush would veto it if it reaches his desk. In a somewhat surprising comment from the White House, they accused the bill of making "no serious attempts to increase our energy security". This defies commonsense as by producing more electricity from domestic renewable sources rather than with imported natural gas by definition increases the United States' diversity and security of energy supply. As with all legislation the details (such as a subsidy for installing gas pumps for expensive and inefficient E85 fuel) need to be checked carefully. Regardless a 15% renewable energy standard is good news.

I am an engineer who works with corporations to help them go green by converting to solar and wind energy. I know what it takes to create an alternative energy plan that works, and I know how to implement those plans. As an engineer who works in the realm of alternative energy, there is one thing that often surprises me.The range of quality of information on how to go green is simply astounding. At least once a week, someone will ask me how they can learn how to convert their home, and answering that question can be difficult. Simply put, there are literally hundreds of products out there that teach you how to switch a home to solar or wind generated energy. When you look at these products though, only a few of them are worthanything. Converting a home using professionals is an expensive proposition. To compensate many are turning to do-it-yourself books and making the move to go green on their own. With the wide range of information available, let's first discuss what a go-green learning package is and is not. First, a program that teaches you to convert your home is NOT the only thing you need. To make the actual conversion you'll still need to follow the guide to building solar panels or windmills or both. Second, NOT every home is appropriate for green conversion. If you live in an condo for example you don't have the surface area for solar panels, or the land needed to setup a windmill. Third, a package that teaches you how to convert your home IS an excellent way to reduce and even get rid of that month power bill. In fact, if you do it right you'll likely generate more energy than you use, and the power company will have to pay you for the power you feed back into the grid. Best of all, if you choose the right methods to convert your home it can be done for very little cost to you. Fourth, if you don't take the time to choose the right learning tools then you're just wasting your money. You even run the risk of creating problems for yourself when your real estate value drops due to the non-working solar panels that are covering the roof. Choosing the right tool to learn with is the most important step! To help you choose a green power package that works, along with some friends, I have worked to evaluate the top five learning products on the market today. We based my evaluations on the following criteria. Green Power - Obviously our main goal from any power generation project is to generate power. We tested how much power each solar panel and windmill could actually generate. Ease of Building - With a package that teaches how to convert a home, the material should be clearly laid out, and the components should be simple to build. Instructional Value - From the above criteria we gave higher ratings to those learning packages that taught us how to go green with ease. The best packages had everything clearly explained, drawn blueprints, and then further explained with how-to videos. Cost Involved - The main reason people choose to convert their home themselves is to save money. We gave much higher ratings to the packages that taught us how to find parts for less. Availability of Parts - Some of the learning packages we tested recommended parts that weren't available. We gave higher marks to those that used parts that were available to anyone (such as at your local hardware store) Time Involved - How long did it take to build each component. We found this had a lot to do with how well the material was explained, but some of the plans just weren't simple enough. Overall Rating - From the above factors we gave each package an overall rating. To follow you will find our ratings for the top five products that can teach you how to go green. With each of our evaluations we did take the time to build each component that the book/video suggested, and in the process we converted a home. I have many friends who have been bugging me to help them go green. Over a two month period of time (working on the weekends), that's exactly what I did. They paid for the parts and put in most of the work, I paid for the learning materials and helped them along the way. The clear winner from our evaluations was Earth 4 Energy, but the other four products that made the top five didn't fair too badly either. Solar energy is arguably the most recognizable source of energy for residential use. Solar panels have been on roofs in some areas of the country for decades. And while it is an effective source of renewable energy for many people it isn't their best option. The reasons for that are:
1. Not every part of the country gets a lot of sunny weather and therefore there will be many days when you aren't generating electricity.
2. Solar panels won't work at night and no matter how sunny Your climate there will be a big part of the day, every day, when you aren't producing electricity.
3. On average one wind turbine will generate about the same amount of electricity as solar panels. And can work day or night as long as there is wind. Of course wind energy has it's issues too such as the fact that it needs a fairly big open space. Though if you mount your turbine on your roof you can overcome that to a large degree.

As a certified mechanic, I know the ins and outs of cars. also I know how easy it is (or isn't) to perform certain conversionson cars, trucks, and big-rigs. Ten years ago when I first started experimenting with the different technologies to achieve superior fuel economy, I just took it for granted that getting 50-80 miles per gallon (80 to 129 kilometers) was normal with the water/HHO system installed. Today, with the advent of people selling the do-it-yourself instructions to use water as a fuel supplement, I want to shed some light on what is and what is not possible.

First, it is NOT possible to drive completely with water (these vehicles are still in production and are very expensive). You will still need fuel. BUT, with the water being converted to hydrogen (also called oxyhdrogen, HHO or Brown's gas) and fed into the engine's air intake, your vehicle will get more miles per gallon (or kilometers per liter) of fuel and you save money on gas.
Second, it is NOT for everyone. If you do not spend more than $50 a month on gas, it really doesn't make sense.
Third, you may only get 50-60% increase in fuel efficiency and depending on your vehicle, engine size, your vehicle's increase in fuel efficiency will vary. Yet, with that said, we have had reports from USA and Canada of 113% to 279.3% increases in MPG. You still would have to buy gas each month, but your bill would likely be half to one third of what it is right now.
Fourth, in our tests of the some of the guides recommended by non-mechanics, some actually damaged the engine or destroyed certain critical engine components, which not only was expensive to fix, but VOIDED the vehicle warranty.
I and the other mechanics in our shop evaluated 19 different guides based on the following criteria:
•Mechanically sound design that will withstand daily use of the vehicle. •An increased gas mileage and money savings. •Very inexpensive and easy for a beginner. •Clean emissions (which help protect the environment). •Produce the maximum amount of HHO (oxyhydrogen or "Brown's gas"). •Work with 99% of new and used vehicles on the market today (including fuel/carb injection, petrol, gas, and hybrids). •Has successfully been used on vehicles around the world using petrol, diesel, or gasoline. •Faster vehicle acceleration. •Stronger torque or engine power. •Works in freezing temperatures. •Eliminates engine "nock" or "ping". •Does NOT damage the vehicle warranty. •Compatible with IRS requirements to REALLY get you tax rebates to pay for the conversion. •REALLY can be removed or installed in minutes from your car's engine compartment. •Eliminate carbon deposits from unused fuel. •You get rights to the system to build and distribute the kits for personal use or profit. Below, I give you recommendations of the top three conversion guides that my team has tested and that meet all of the criteria above.

Scientists use fiber optics instead of solar panels to capture sun's energy

Like the idea of free and clean solar power but hate the thought of ugly, black panels covering the roof of your home? Help is on the way.

Scientists in Georgia and New Jersey are taking solar panels off the roofs of homes and cars, and moving them into basements and walls. The new panels could unobtrusively provide solar power while simultaneously protecting the delicate photovoltaics.

"No one wants to buy a big, nice, fancy car with a huge solar panel on the roof," said Zhong Wang, a scientist at Georgia Tech designing what he calls the world's first 3-D solar panel system.

Instead of using traditional solar panels, the Georgia Tech scientists will capture sunlight and turn it into electricity using fiber optics cables coated with zinc oxide, the same white compound lifeguards slather on their noses.

The fiber optic cables, each one two to three times the width of a human, would be installed on the roof of a house, car or any other structure.

Only the very tip of the cables would be exposed to the outside environment.

Light enters the tip of the fiber and travels to the end. The light is absorbed and turned into electrical energy along the way.

Once the light reaches the end of the fiber, it actually bounces back, giving the zinc oxide another chance to absorb any light missed during the first pass.

The fibers can be cut to any length depending on the needs of the user. A 10-centimeter (four-inch) fiber would conservatively generate about 0.5 volts.

Crazy green-energy ideas that just might work

There are many options up for consideration as renewable energy besides windmills and solar panels. And these ideas are so wacky they just might work.

Powering a 10-watt light bulb would require about 10,000 fibers, each about 10 centimeters (four inches) long. That might sound like a lot of fibers, but it's about the same size as a small handful of human hair.

Although the fibers are small, they aren't particularly efficient. Right now, they convert about 3.3 percent of all the light that enters them into electricity. Some silicon-based solar cells can absorb 30 percent of light.

Wang thinks that further work could get his number up to 8 percent.

Efficiency can take a backseat to ease of production, however. Conventional solar cells with the highest efficiencies are generally expensive to produce, require temperatures of several hundred degrees, and can damaged relatively easily by rocks or hail.

Fiber optic photovoltaics, on the other hand, are easy to produce. A solution of zinc oxide is heated to about 70 degrees Celsius (158 degrees Fahrenheit), about the same temperature as a cup of coffee. The cables are then dipped into the zinc oxide and allowed to dry.

Expose one end of the fiber to light and attach some wiring, and the electricity will start to flow.

Wang isn't the only person who hopes to rid rooftops of conspicuous solar panels. Raymond Saluccio is the CEO of New Jersey based EarthSure, a company that recently announced its own plan to route light, be it from the sun or incandescent light bulbs, using fiber optic cables connected to underground solar panels.

Known as SubSolar, the plan could generate solar power 24 hours a day, seven days a week in hospitals or office buildings where the lights are always on.

"We don't even have to put the fiber optics on a roof," said Saluccio "We can put our fiber optics cables in the lawn, on a tree, even indoors."

Instead of generating power on the surface of the fiber optic cable, the light would travel to submarine-shaped capsules buried several feet underground.

Homes could be powered by six-foot-long systems, while businesses would need a pod up to 20 feet long and 10 feet in diameter.

"Putting the panels underground we can make them out of cheaper materials because they don't have to stand up to heat, cold, rain, hail, or sleet," said Saluccio.

Until EarthSure can raise more funds to develop a prototype device or Wang creates a start up company to produce and market, concealed solar panels will remain out of reach for most consumers.

Why you should use green energy

The world has relied on fossil fuels for a long time. Fossil fuels are
used to heat our homes, gas our cars, and provide electricity. We are
starting to see the consequences of habitual fossil fuel use.
Resources are becoming depleted and slowly our planet is dying.

But why green energy sources? Well because there are advantages to
using them which we will never be able to get if we dont change our
ways. This is also even if some will argue that the problem with green
energy is that it is sometimes difficult to generate the power we
need. While that may be true, that is why there are other green energy
sources available and we just to know which ones are viable given the
geographic location.

Solar, wind, wave, hydropower, and geothermal are just some of the
various potential sources of green energy. Utilizing green energy
sources do not harm the environment or give off harmful by-products.
The results from these energy sources are completely different than
fossil fuels.

Fossil fuels produce carbon dioxide as a by-product. Individual coal
plants do not put off much carbon dioxide. Until you consider, there
are 50,000 coal plants around the world. It is estimated that this
number will only increase. If we do not reverse this trend, we may not
have a world.

Many say nuclear power is a reliable solution. No one disputes that
nuclear power does produce a large amount of energy. The dispute is
whether or not we are effectively and safely disposing of the spent
nuclear rods. We also have to consider nuclear accidents such as
Chernobyl and Three Mile Island. These incidents were many years ago.
We have gotten better at containment; however, it only takes one
accident.

Green energy also requires maintenance. Windmills have mechanical
parts that must be maintained. Corn to make ethanol must be grown.
Biomass fuels require the trash to be separated and sorted. All of
these choices are more attractive than fossil fuels. Green energy
utilizes facilities that are cheaper to operate.

Green energy is renewable. Probably the most important advantage to
green energy. Unlike fossil fuels, we will not run out of green
energy. Since the beginning of the universe, the Sun's rays have
reached the Earth. As these rays reach the earth they produce wind.
Every time we use green energy, we are moving closer to breaking our
addiction to fossil fuels.

Governments are only talking about replacing fossil fuels. They hold
global climate change summits. They pass resolutions. They even tell
us that we need to drive less and reduce our energy usage. Without
viable alternatives, it is difficult to do. It is time that we realize
we have viable alternatives. We have green energy.

Talking will get us no where. News papers talk about what needs to
change. People talk about how concerned they are. People even tie
themselves to trees. While these actions are noble, they will not
build windmills or erect solar panels. It is time we put our money
where our mouth is.

When will we realize that we have the solution to environmental,
political, and social problems. Green energy will produce a system of
renewable energy that fossil fuels cannot. It is time that we commit
rather than just talk. We have the power to produce home made alternative energy.

President Barack Obama made a pitch for renewable energy Tuesday, announcing $3.4 billion in government support for 100 projects aimed at modernizing the nation's power grid. Touring a field of solar energy panels in west-central Florida, the president urged greater use of several technologies to make America's power transmission system more efficient and better suited to the digital age. The projects include installing "smart" electric meters in homes, automating utility substations, and installing thousands of new digital transformers and grid sensors."There's something big happening in America in terms of creating a clean-energy economy," Obama said, although he added there is much more to be done. He likened the effort to the ambitious development of the national highway system 50 years ago. He said modernization would lead to a "smarter, stronger and more secure electric grid." Under muggy skies, Obama toured the DeSoto Next Generation Solar Energy Center, which is designed to generate enough energy for about 3,000 residential customers of the utility FPL. It is the nation's largest photovoltaic electricity facility. Obama said a modern grid could give consumers better control over their electricity usage and costs, and spur development of renewable energy sources such as wind and solar. The $3.4 billion in grants from the government's January economic stimulus program will be matched by $4.7 billion in private investments. The smallest grant will be $400,000 and the largest $200 million. "We have a very antiquated (electric grid) system in our country," Carol Browner, assistant to the president for energy and climate change, told reporters. "The current system is outdated, it's dilapidated."

Matt Rogers, the Energy Department official involved in the program, said the 100 projects were selected from 400 proposed. The money will be distributed over the next two months and the work is expected to be done over the next one to three years, he said. Even as Obama pitched more efficient and renewable energy use, his trip to Arcadia made it clear that old habits and dependencies die hard. He arrived in a motorcade of gas-guzzling SUVs. While waiting for the motorcade to get started, several vans kept their engines running to provide air conditioning for occupants escaping a hot Florida sun.

Green News: Solar Energy: Obama Administration

The Beatles song “Here Comes the Sun” could be the anthem for the Obama administration because many hopes are pinned on solar energy.

Demand for solar power has been slowly growing for some time, but it still only represents 1 percent of U.S. energy resources, according to the Solar Energy Industries Association. But under the new administration, experts believe the industry will see some of the biggest gains yet.

Today, the U.S. ranks fourth behind Germany, Japan and Spain when it comes to installing solar power.

Solar-power businesses that will benefit include solar panel makers and makers of components and parts used for converting the sun’s energy into electricity, as well as solar panel installation firms. Manufacturers of products that use solar power — such as sun-powered ovens — will also get a boost, as will architectural and construction firms that focus on harnessing passive solar energy by designing homes and buildings that can suck energy out of the sun’s rays.

The president chose the town of Arcadia, Fla., to make the announcement because it is home to the country's largest solar power production facility, which was one of the 100 projects awarded federal stimulus money through the Smart Grid grants.

Standing before a giant field, lined with close to 100,000 solar panels, President Obama addressed a small crowd of invited guests.

"We're on the cusp of a new energy future," he said as he unveiled an investment his administration says will create hundreds of thousands of jobs and reduce America's electricity usage by 4 percent by 2030. Doing so will require updating the current transmission system which the president said "wastes too much energy, it costs us too much money, and it's too susceptible to outages and blackouts."The president compared the development of a "Smart Grid" to the creation of the country's interstate system.

"It was a tangled maze of poorly maintained back roads that were rarely the fastest or the most efficient way to get from point A to point B. Fortunately, President Eisenhower made an investment that revolutionized the way we travel -- an investment that made our lives easier and our economy grow. Now, it's time to make the same kind of investment in the way our energy travels."

The projects are located in 49 states, funded by stimulus money and were each matched at least dollar for dollar by private investment.

The projects range from modernizing the current power line system to funding solar and wind farms to installing "smart meters" in homes that allow households to monitor how much energy they use by the week, day or hour and then adjust their usage according to rate schedules.

"So coupled with other technologies," the president explained, "this is going to help you manage your electricity use and your budget at the same time, allowing you to conserve electricity during times when prices are highest, like hot summer days."

The president promised this kind of large-scale investment in renewable energy and transmission when he was pushing his stimulus plan earlier this year. And while the White House maintains that today's announcement is a big step toward creating a clean energy economy, the president said it will also require a major boost of public support.

"The creation of such an economy is going to require nothing less than the sustained effort of an entire nation -- an all-hands-on-deck approach similar to the mobilization that preceded World War II or the Apollo Project."

He also nudged Congress to get on board with his climate change bill.

"I also believe that such a comprehensive piece of legislation that is taking place right now in Congress is going to be critical."

And while he cited a consensus in Washington on the "Smart Grid" program, he acknowledged critics.

"It's a debate between looking backwards and looking forward," he said. "Between those who are ready to seize the future and those who are afraid of the future. And we know which side the United States of America has always come down on."

News: Clean energy $787 billion stimuius dollars on science

President Barack Obama signed the $787 billion stimulus package today,
and the clean energy industry — among the biggest winners — is
celebrating.
The signing ceremony was heavily loaded with solar symbolism: Mr.
Obama signed the bill after touring the Denver Museum of Nature and
Science, which has solar panels on its roof. He was also introduced by
Blake Jones, head of Namaste Solar Electric, a Colorado company that
installed solar panels on the governor’s mansion there.

(As of this writing, the company’s Web site appears to have crashed,
perhaps under the weight of the attention.)

“It’s an investment that will double the amount of renewable energy
produced over the next three years,” said Mr. Obama, who also promised
that the bill would help “transform the way we use energy.”

The text of the bill is posted by the House Appropriations Committee
here. This detailed summary is particularly helpful.

The provisions include:

* A large sum for energy efficiency, including $5 billion for low-
income weatherization programs; over $6 billion in grants for state
and local governments; and several billion to modernize federal
buildings, with a particular emphasis on energy efficiency.

* $11 billion for “smart grid” investments.

* $3.4 billion for carbon capture and sequestration demonstration
projects (otherwise known as “clean coal”).

* $2 billion for research into batteries for electric cars.

* $500 million to help workers train for “green jobs.”

* A three-year extension of the “production tax credit” for wind
energy (as well as a tax credit extension for biomass, geothermal,
landfill gas and some hydropower projects).

* The option, available to many developers, of turning their tax
credits into direct cash, with the government underwriting 30 percent
of a project’s cost.

Potential for 1.9 Million Renewable Energy Jobs

Three universities of the USA have conducted studies related to renewable sources of energy and it has produced some interesting facts. The first and most important one is that renewable energy policies will lead to employment opportunities. Secondly, it will increase the consumer’s income and thirdly, it will have positive effect on the US economy too. The study Clean Energy & Climate Policy for U.S. Growth and Job Creation: An Economic Assessment of the American Clean Energy & Security Act and the Clean Energy Jobs & American Power Act presents quite an encouraging estimate. According to them as many as 1.9 million new jobs could be created across the United States within the renewable energy sphere. It would also account for an increase in annual household income by US$1,175 per year, and Gross Domestic Product could register a rise of US$111 billion by 2020

I am a personal trainer who works with both women and men to get them on-track to better health. I know what it takes to stay fit, and I know what it takes to lose weight. Many of my clients come to me with their ideas about the latest fad diet, and personally I am against most of them. There are diets that work, but choosing the wrong diet plan can actually work against you. As a personal trainer I am constantly inundated with questions about dieting and losing weight. When you begin to look at these topics, and specifically at dieting, one thing quickly comes to light. There are so many diet plans out there that wading through them all (and choosing one that works) can be extremely difficult. With that, let's first cover what a good diet plan is and what it is not. First, a diet plan alone is NOT the only thing you need to stay in good health. It may be able to help you take some weight off, but you should add in a daily exercise plan to be sure you keep that weight off. Second, NOT everyone needs a diet plan. For those who just need to shed a pound or two, exercise is the better way to take it off. Third, a good diet plan IS an excellent way to lose weight. In fact, if you choose the right diet plan you can may be able to get the figure that you want in just a few months time. The best diet plans will help you to lose weight and stay healthy at the same time. The better plans will also teach you how to keep that weight off and not just lose a few pounds in the short term. Fourth, if you don't choose the right diet it could seriously affect your health. Too many of the latest fad diets are actually dangerous, and some of them are so dangerous that they may land you in a hospital. A good diet plan should never negatively affect your health. To help you out, along with some people who needed to lose some weight (my clients), I took the time to evaluate the top diet plans on the market today. I based my evaluations on the following criteria. •Weight Loss - Obviously the main goal of any diet plan is to lose weight. •Health Factor / Safety - Did the diet plan allow you to stay healthy while you worked to lose weight. Really, some fad diets are downright dangerous so safety is a concern when choosing a plan. •Ease of Use (Simplicity) - Was it easy to learn how to cook foods for the diet plan? A good diet plan shouldn't require you to become a chef. •Long Term Weight Loss - Did the program teach you how to keep the weight off in the longer term. •Value for your Money - Programs that teach you how to lose weight cost money. Did the plan give enough content for the cost of the package itself? •Motivation Factor - A good program should motivate you to use it, and not just teach you how to cook for your new diet. •Enjoyment Factor - Was the diet plan enjoyable? Most diets fail because everything they suggest for you to eat tastes like cardboard. Higher ratings were given to diet plans that suggested food is both tasty and healthy. •Overall Rating - Based on all of the above, how well did the program rate? To evaluate each diet plan we tested them over a six month period of time. Before anyone used them, I first evaluated the program for safety, and then with the programs deemed safe by me I had five of my clients use each diet plan. To ensure that the evaluations were fair 3 of those who tested each program had more than 100 pounds to lose and 2 had 50 pounds or less to take off. Each month our test subjects were weighed, and they shared their thoughts about their progress (and the diet plan) thus far. Below you will find our ratings for the top five weight-loss programs on the market today. These five make up those that were safe, helped my clients to lose weight, and taught them to keep it off.
