my woodland weekend

Friday: found my new favorite Thai spot.
Saturday: worked hard in the garden, laying paths and spreading seeds.
Sunday: went mushroom hunting in the woods with some success. This is going to be my new favorite Spring activity. You can now find me wandering around the forest in search of these tiny morel morsels. It's terribly exciting when you actually find one. Above is my latest splendor.

I am pretty smitten with most everything from Malutki, a new little jewelry shop on Etsy. Malutki (which I think means "tiny" in Polish) features simple, versatile and affordable adornments. We made it! Portland to Chicago via: California-Arizona-New Mexico-Colorado-..and some boring states we drove straight through. Here are some choice photos from our little cross-country venture. It was a swell time. (Find me in the 2nd picture among the great Redwoods!)

Our belongings are mostly unpacked and the shops are open for business again. Happy Spring friends!

Goodbye rain, hello snow. We are moving back to Chicago!
Portland has been great to us, but it is time to go....where the jobs are. We are hoping to find some "actual size" architecture work there and we'd love to be closer to our families. So, in just a few short weeks we will be packing up our lives (again) and movin' on out. We are closing up our online shops in the next day or so and won't be reopening until we get settled in - maybe in a month or more. We are pretty excited about going back and having some new adventures. If all goes well we will be creating a new line of My House Party stuff that is going to rock your world. Stay tuned!

We took another little trip up to Crystal Mountain and Seattle, Washington this week. Unfortunately, we were both fighting off the flu so it wasn't as awesome as it should have been. But it was sooooo nice to get out of the apartment for a bit. Being sick sucks!

Also, in other news...we will be closing up the shops for a little while starting this Monday, February 7th until ??? So if you were thinking of placing an order now is the time. I'll post more about that tomorrow.

We're trying to explore all the winter activities offered in Oregon this year, courtesy of its beautiful and various terrains. It's easy to feel stir crazy with all the rain here in the winter. Last week, climbing at Smith Rock (see above), next week we're trying out Nordic Skiing at Mt. Hood and then a little snowboarding further north after that. I am turning into quite the coupon lady so it's been easy to do things on the cheap and even better when it's free.

We had a wonderful time with family and friends this holiday. Chicago was a winter wonderland when we arrived and it really felt like Christmas this year. We ventured up to Madison for a few days as well, to scope out some farms and enjoy some winterish activities. And then over to Columbus to visit more family. And....now we're back trying to get into the swing of things again. We only have a a couple of our airplant houses left and lots of airplants so I added another plant super sale just for you.

Hi friends! We are closing down the shops for the holidays TOMORROW. So today is your last day to shop. Anything purchased today will be shipped out tomorrow morning before we head out for a much needed vacation break. Thanks again to everyone who supported our work this year. We are nearly sold out of much of our stock and are excited to start fresh with new designs and more amazing "housewares" in 2011.

Christmas is sneaky! I can't believe it's almost here. We leave in just a week for good ole Chicago to spend the holidays with friends and family there. I can't wait! Last year we couldn't manage the high ticket prices and spent the holiday at a little euro pub and then went to see a zombie movie...memorable but I don't recommend it. Being home for the holidays is where it's at. And I am hoping my brother brings his wii home for the holidays so I can get back to world of goo. I plan on convincing everyone to play lots of board games (esp. pictionary), making some cute men out of snow, being very merry, visiting old friends, snow-tubing, and maybe even looking at a little farm in Madison, Wi...what? A girl can dream.

This also means that we will be closing up shop for a few weeks. Probably starting on the 22nd we will put our Etsy in vacation mode and make a note on our main site that orders won't be going out until January 10th. In the meantime we our leaving up our 2fer sales on green houses and brought our mystery plants $ down in hopes of moving most/all of our plant life out before we take off. Cheers!
