Ok, so GTX refreshed wasn't my last rom before I go on hiatus

Here's a dark edition of M2D to add to my 23118 portfolio.

I've added a notification bar which lights up if you've any missed calls, unread items etc, and free up one slot for the launcher bar, which was previously taken by the phone icon.

Do note that the launcher bar uses M2DTP. Make sure that M2D is running first if you wish to use M2DC to customise stuff. This would solve hangs that some are reporting.

Big thanks to r04d5t3r for his Minimalism Nitrogen skin, and Bakuryu91 for his GTX icon set

I've tried to make a cab for TouchInput, but wasn't successful. Thus, I've made three editions for you to choose from, including a lite version that doesn't come with a keyboard, home launcher and notification bars, and OmniaLite apps. Take your pick from below

EDIT: To fix the wifi toggle, just edit to point the shortcut to \windows\Wifi_ON-OFF.exe or simply install AKtogglewifi (which I installed via xda_uc, hence my failure to spot this 'bug')

Here's an update to my most-downloaded rom of all time, presenting: GTX 23118 refreshed

I've made some new skins for the people, action and launcher tabs to complete the GTX look in M2D. Tweaked also a few things on my ClassicGrey skin.

Integrated on the home tab is a quick launcher for your favourite programs, along with a missed call notification icon. DarkNinja and pin12's Android toolbar is also included. To change an icon, tap and hold an icon. To add or remove icons, tap and hold the area just above the icons.

New in this "refreshed" version is full landscape mode in TouchInput. I've fixed the T9 mode and also enabled T9 for a few more languages.

I've included an alternative dialer (thanks Rugal!), with a simple GTX skin I've made. Do note that it does not support video calling. Use the Dialer Switcher inside the tools folder to switch between WM/GTX/OmniaLite dialers without having to soft reset.

Hi everyone, I'm back with a new rom for the i900

This time I've tried out 23129 after some issues with 25018, so far it's running smoothly for me
I've added full portrait and landscape BlueGrey keyboard skins for our Spanish friends too.

For this build, inspired by Jumba's BlueSteel theme (still one of the classiest skins for M2D I've ever seen), I've found some time to make some themes to add on to his excellent work. I hope Jumba won't mind me using his excellent art piece (dropped a note to him though, but guess he's busy with work  ?) Thanks for your themes, Jumba!

New in this build is a fully-skinned Omnia keyboard (landscape and portrait supported, as well as phonepad and keypad), and a brand-new WM6.5.X theme. I've kept the core of my kitchen as I'm happy if it so far

What's new:
- Added BlueSteel M2D skin (with flip clock) by Jumba
- Added BlueSteel WM lockscreen by Jumba
- New WM theme, PremiumGrey (by me)
- New Omnia keyboard skin (by ock)

Introducing... alphaUI, a brand new theme made for XIAMultiTheme (XMT)

After my GTX release, I decided to take a look at alternative UIs, and XMT caught my eye for its customisability. alphaUI features a program launcher written entirely using XML and MSCR files, a showcase of the flexibility of XMT and Mortscript.

Built-in gesture support means each of the 4 panels is one swipe away. Flicking down on the home screen brings down the Music panel, while the Launcher panel can be "pulled" up from the home screen. The Quick Settings and Agenda panels are to the left and right of the home screen. Do note that only portrait mode is supported.

Programs-wise, it contains most of the apps from my Premium Roms, except HTC Album.

Features:
- Gesture support for navigating between panels
- Music panel (BETA) with album art support
- 3-page Launcher panel that holds up to 36 shortcuts, just swipe to switch screens
- Quick Settings panel for access to common controls
- Agenda panel displaying 4 of your upcoming appointments

Quick FAQs:

1) How can I change the wallpaper?
Disable the XIAMultiTheme plugin by going to Start-Settings-Home-Items, then copy a 240x400 png file named "home.png" into \Program Files\XIAMultiTheme\themes\ock_alphaUI\Images\Wallpapers\
Similarly, wall1.jpg, wall2.jpg and wall3.jpg can be overwritten if you want to have different backgrounds for the 3 program launcher screens

2) How can I edit or remove a shortcut I added to the Home panel/ Launcher panel?
Simply tap and hold an icon and select the relevant option.

3) How can I quickly add lots of programs to the program launcher? The Launcher panel closes after I add each one.
Tap and hold on the add icon and the Launcher panel will stay open after you add each shortcut.

4) Why doesn't the album art update?
Due to some technical issues, XMT can't use the album art directly from Nitrogen. The album art thus does not update if you skip a song using Nitrogen. Opening and closing the Music panel will refresh the album art.

5) Why does the song title appear glitched when skipping songs via gestures?
This occurs sometimes and may be due to the way screen refreshing is done. Using the button controls doesn't cause this issue.

6) Why does my screen turn itself off when I try to turn it on?
You are most likely using S2U2. Close Nitrogen before locking your device. If you're listening to music, you can use the screen off button in the Music panel.

7) Why doesn't my appointments show up on my Home panel?
Only the next appointment occurring within a day are shown, a standard behaviour of WM's appointment registry keys. The Appointment panel however can show the next 4 appointments.

8) How can I update the weather status?
Tap on the weather icon and enter you city code.
You can find out you city code by going to Yahoo weather and searching your city under "Enter city or zip code:" If I search "New York" for example, a new page will load with the numbers 2459115 in the url. This will be your city code.
To reconfigure your city, simply tap and hold on the weather icon.

9) Can I use the Music Panel with S2P/ WMP/ HTC AudioManager?
Only Nitrogen is supported.

A COM3 build by popular request Seems there's no bold camera fonts bug in this build as well. Differences in COM3 build include the display of your Operator in the lockscreen, and instant update of the battery icon when you plug/unplug. I've integrated threaded email and the latest Office Mobile as well, so you won't miss out on the goodies from COM5 builds.

Other new stuff include the ability to open SWF games directly. Tap and hold to bring up a menu where you can toggle fullscreen mode. I've also made changes to the Autorun procedure, you can safely tap on the screen to continue without waiting for it to reboot first. It will reboot once after all your cabs are installed.

EDIT: Left out the FM Radio shortcut while tidying up some files, here's a quick fix for that.

- Added support for opening SWF files

GTX Edition

Presenting... 23118 GTX Edition: a one-time special build for those who like light themes

Special thanks to ElCondor who has given me permission to create a GTX-style theme for M2Dv2 based on his original concept. Included are icons from younxt, a hybrid WM theme from gfandrea and Jeffrey2000 (with some new controls by me). I've created from scratch some of the M2D graphics, and added a brand new Nitrogen skin to match the theme.

I've kept only TouchInput as the keyboard and added S2U2 2.41 as I use these two myself. Programs wise, it has all the goodies from my Premium roms. Do note that I've removed the flip clock and the digits may disappear on the first run as M2D loads the files. If you use HTC Music tab, install the HTC Audio Manager cab from my second post to enjoy the new theme.

A cab file to install this on other roms is not possible as I've completely removed certain files.
However, I've made a package of all my skin graphics for those who want to make edits Do note that this package is for those who want to amend the GTX theme, and may not work correctly on my older roms.

Have been busy these few weeks, but have managed to spend some time fixing some bugs reported here, hope my roms are getting better  I've also added some graphical enhancements such as DJ Pete's amazing Sense lockscreen, with lots of tweaks to fix the clock display. Install this cab and copy a file named lockscreenP.png into \Windows if you would want a separate wallpaper for the lockscreen.

Added back in is the EZInput keyboard with its superb T9 engine (no camera button bug finally!), and I've updated GoogleMaps to version 4 thanks to Petter88 and Nick  . I'm still figuring out how to optimise the ram consumption of the flipping clock though, so I've kept it in for the time being.

Remember to leave your Omnia to automatically restart once at the "tap here to start" screen (don't tap the screen first).

EDIT: In case you experience weird squares in Google Maps and Youtube, install this cab and soft reset.

In this build, I've tweaked the autorun procedure to solve some issues with GPRS connections. After flashing, leave your Omnia to automatically restart at the "tap here to start" screen (don't tap first). On the second reboot, tap on the screen to continue and autorun will start installing your cabs (Go to to the Tools folder to run it if it doesn't)

I've gotten DINIK's permission to cook his Anastasia Icon Set and have in fact planned to, but it seems some icons weren't changed.

I've thus not cooked these icons in, but I've packaged a special cab for those who like his icons to try out on my roms. Tested on Premium, should work for my other roms too. I can't guarantee complete compatibility with other roms though, due to different start menu layouts other chefs may use. Thanks also to AnnPhe for introducing Dinik's brilliant work to Modaco. UseJWMD icon changer to change other icons you may have.

My first M2D classic build Was trying something different, and saw htctoucher's M2D skin. Very impressed by his sleek and classy theme. This version of M2D also has a missed call notification bar on the homescreen - no need to install additional apps to get this function. I've added HTC Album, but left out HTC Audio Manager - S2U2 and Nitrogen are better alternatives.

Just a note about M2D v1, cities in weather tab may not scroll properly, but you can type in the name of your city (faster too!). Also, icons in the program tab use their exe icons, and will not reflect any custom ones you may use.

This version includes a beta version of a custom theme I've made . Enable it by going to Settings - Home and selecting rlToday. Disable all other homescreen plugins.

To update the weather, tap on Weather and enter you city code.
You can find out you city code by going to Yahoo weather and searching your city under "Enter city or zip code:" If I search "New York" for example, a new page will load with the numbers 2459115 in the url. This will be your city code.

To set a different city, unzip this file somewhere and run it.

Presenting... TitaniumSense (beta) with gchris's skin . Thanks to gchris for his permission to allow me to cook this in. Do read his first post first on how to configure weather, apps etc. Note that Opera, Nitrogen etc in my screenshots below are not included

Do note that landscape mode is not supported for the Today screen. I've tested this for half a day, hope the sleep problem is gone. As for some issues with video recording, if you notice that it starts recording in slow-mo, do a soft reset, which fixes this problem.

Here's a cab I've put together if you want to install it on other builds. Full credits to gchris for his excellent work.

218xx builds, while not as finger-friendly, have much better responsiveness compared to other branches. Thus I thought UL users would like to try out his build. Don't plan to make M2D for this build though.

Managed to fix some bugs with the BTAR files, so I've added them back in for this build. Soundtester doesn't work with BTAR fix, so use the included AudioGainControl in the tools folder instead if you need to fine-tune the volume.

I've also fixed some compatibility issues with 3rd-party applications such as PlumSIP and S2U2 in this release.

Just updated my rom to build 28002. Not much has changed. There is more free ram (extra 4-5MB in M2D) for those who do heavy multi-tasking. Earlier builds usually achieve around 48 MB.

As in Nicklashidegard's previous roms, flicking through the start menu is a joy, with no accidental clicks. You do have to install FTouchSL to get smooth scrolling in areas such as Email and WM's FileManager (if you do use it).

Titanium is included and starts up by default, so don't worry that you've downloaded the wrong rom. Just go to settings--home to enable TouchFlo. Advanced Config is finally included in this release. NoData would be a good inclusion though. The included M2D Operator Settings tool enables a second launcher tab and allows you to add programs to it.

NaviMapper - Offline Maps for Windows Mobile

Free GPS mapping software are not that common, those which come with maps are even harder to find. NaviMapper breaks this trend by offering users the ability to download maps from online sources like OpenStreetMap.

The bundled NaviMapper software runs on your PC and offers an easy way to download maps to your mobile device. Downloaded maps can be easily copied to your phone for navigation without a wireless connection.

To define a region to download map data for, simply click and drag. The right button allows you to pan around the map. A search box allows you to instantly jump to a particular area. In the screenshot, a search for New York centered the map there.

Download times can vary, at the highest zoom levels, it may take a while. The good thing is that NaviMapper does not clutter your device with thousands of map files - it creates a single database file - very neat indeed.

The mobile client was fast to pick up my location using GPS. Panning around the map was a smooth experience, showing the advantage of offline maps compared to online ones.

A separate feature allows you to track your movement. Information such as distance travelled and speed can be recorded and saved.

Opera Mobile 10 Beta Released!

The beta version of Opera Mobile 10 has just been made available for download. This follows the earlier release of Opera Mini 5 Beta.

Speed and Responsiveness:

I've tested this latest version briefly, and my informal tests support Opera's claims that this new version has better performance in terms of rendering speed and responsiveness. Loading up Neowin's homepage took a full 10 seconds less on this beta release. Strangely, enabling the Turbo mode resulted in slower load times on my wi-fi connection. I didn't face any serious slow-downs even with a few websites loading in background tabs. Memory usage hovered around 1 MB plus.

Rendering and standards support:

There's no support for embedded Youtube videos though, you'll instead get a link that opens the video stream in Windows Media Player. Rather than that, images and text are rendered smoothly, and remains easy on my eye despite the 400x240 resolution of my Omnia i900. Opera gets top marks for accurate display of websites. Just for fun, I ran the Acid3 test -you can see the results in the screenshot. Not that bad, huh?

Bookmarks and saved pages

The new speed dial feature offers quick access to your favourite sites. You also have an option to add more bookmarks and create folders to organise them. You can save versions of a webpage for future reference.
The find-in-page works well, allowing you to jump through matches. All matching terms are highlighted.

Conclusion:

Though it may be a beta version, this version of Opera Mobile takes a few steps in the right direction. The interface remains uncluttered and touch-friendly, and general responsiveness has improved. Inclusion of flash support would be a good addition though. (Perhaps flash could be enabled for a few specified websites, while pesky flash ads on others would be blocked?)
