Maine in the marriage debate…

Marriage for same sex couples was passed and signed into law by the governor.

The opposition got enough signatures to put it to a referendum.

voting day was filled with apprehension, and hope.

We watched online as votes trickled in and decided to go to bed when

it became too close to call.

It was so very close and we lost.

We lost so much more that day.

how to keep up

Just not sure quite how to keep up with it all. I am on vacation, my 2nd day…and I look at my bloglines and google reader…bloglines I have been less attentive too, and I have 5125 unread posts in my reader…Now do I read those all at once…or a little at a time? In the google reader I have 832 unread posts. Maybe I just need to start over with a new account and start from scratch, and re-evaluate what I want to read and don’t want to read. And painting this weekend, and planning a wedding, and going to the gym. And…And…I guess I just need to breathe in and breathe out, and see where that leads!

So many new things. I don’t seem to have time to write or read blogs anymore. I guess that is what happens you go away for a while and then come back when you can. We are having a ceremony in the early August days, and then Maine will become one of the first couples in maine to be married on the actual day it becomes legal, September 16th. I can’t wait. I love her more and more each day, and didn’t think it was possible to be this happy. This weekend, painting house and getting organized. Big Birthday bash for my brother.

Although it isn’t my home any more, I love to go home. To my parents home. I walk in and am hit by the smell of home. You know that smell? The smell of childhood dreams, and first dates, and camp outs in the back yard. The smell of fresh cut grass, and sawdust. The smell of years worn into the floors and walls and of heartbreaks and joys. We are all moved out now and I go back, to visit. This weekend it was to look for dresses at the local bridal boutique. The house is clean, and neat, and well organized. It looks really nice. There are of course no kids there to mess it up! As I fall asleep, the familiar creaks comfort me.

time has a way of flowing and following it’s course. i believe that things happen for a reason a lot of the time.

A lot has happened in my life in the last few months. It is hard to keep up.

I visited the family in KY. It was a nice trip, luckily before the outages when they didn’t have power for 12 days or more…
moved into a new place
started going to a new church
supported a co-worker’s return
ended a therapeutic relationship

I guess it doesn’t seem all that much in the over all scheme of things. Its life.
I wonder sometimes how I keep up with it all. I guess just keep going one foot in front of the other.
I am not sure how I want to use this blog in the future and I think that It will change and evolve as I grow and learn in this relationship. I am looking for different things that when I started writing. Well maybe it isn’t much different. Community and connection. I guess that is the same as what I wanted before.

Sometimes I feel guilty when I don’t write, like there is this community of people that I have met and become friends with and have lost touch with… but I guess that is what this is all about people come and go as they can and as time allows. It also has to be for you, that you write.

Love evolves. Friendship grows. And now we are publicly acknowledging our love and commitment to one another in front of our friends and family. I am so very excited!

I met the family

WE took a trip to KY over the holiday. It was about 60-65 and really nice the whole time that we were there. It was so nice to get away. And of course meeting S’s family was great too. It was not without drama…
on the way down luggage was lost.
On the way back…we missed our connection because of a plane delay. So, we were in DC for a very very long time. The good thing…I got a lot of reading done, which I really enjoyed.

Yes and made it up and down without overheating…My honey had to drive I was too nervous to fall off the edge.
