Wuvies Card

Even though I have designed hundreds of business cards for friends and employers, I never ever once thought to make one for myself. Never thought I would need one. One thing I never pictured myself saying, “Here is my card.” I am more of the “Here’s your sign” type. But after taking a taking a scolding and being asked for my card 4 times in one day, I broke down and made one for myself.

This is actually the third business card I have made in the last week. I made two other for some very creative and crafty friends of mine.

Anns Paragon Jewelry

 This card I made for Anns Paragon Jewelry. She creates amazing custom handmade jewelry. I also started her a simple blog on blogger to help her advertize her etsy shop. You should check it out if you love jewelry as much as I do. Anns Paragon Jewelry

Knothead Designs

Here is another that I did for Jayne Parra of Knothead Designs. She is another creative crafter who does the most amazing things with wood and things we normally toss out. I also started her a simple blog at knothead-designs.blogspot.com.

So as you can see, I have been having so much fun and loving every minute.

I have been working on my photo albums, scanning photos and making blog templates. Trying to keep as busy as possible. I am one of those people that can go a bit crazy if I have nothing to do. I need to work, even if it is just pretend work, to stay sane. Not having a job is really starting to get to me, so I make up jobs. (yes, I am weird)  I have been able to get a 30 page wedding album done for my darling daughter-in-law and another 30 page album 3 of my beautiful grand daughters. I also have to mention that I got them printed at Costco and they did a wonderful job!

I have spent many an hour scanning over 300 photos that I was able to gather on my last trip to see my family in New York.  I have become quite skilled in the art of scanning. Plus I now a huge stash of great photos to make tons of great layout and memory books. I think Costco is going to become a great friend of mine.

Speaking of New York, I am headed back there on Sept. 1st, and will be staying for 6 to 8 weeks. I am really looking forward to it, but still have a little guilt for leaving my hubby for that amount of time. Will be great to be able to spend so much time with my darlings. My usual two week visit seem so rushed, this time they will more than likelybe glad to see me go!

I ended up picking one of my favorite places, Shore Acres. Digital Scrapbook place as you all know is my home while at home. I am always haunting the halls of their forum, checking each room for it’s newest inspirations, freebies, tutorials, contests and challenges. They have it all. There isn’t a day that goes by that I can’t find something new. It is never boring or quiet around the forums. It’s like having a library in the middle of an airport. People from all over the world, coming and going. chatting, laughing, crying, and teaching. Hundreds of wonderful tour guides just waiting for their next group, always willing to lend a hand, give advice or just point you in the right direction. It’s a busy busy place, but oh so much fun!

This is the pond that my oldest son has in his backyard. It was taken early in the morning and there was a fine mist coming up from it. The small photo is a very large Dragonfly sitting on that stone warming himself.

Those are just three of layouts I have done. I have several more, but I must get some housework done. I will be back soon!

Then there are the “Others” that have the opposite problem. Those people with ideas for inventions, articles, paintings, and even song lyrics flooding into their heads constantly. Too Many Ideas Syndrome (TMIS), may not seem like a problem, especially for those in an occupation that requires them to come up with new ideas regularly in order to do their jobs. But having too many ideas and no focus can be just as debilitating to anyone as starting with nothing, especially if it causes you indecision, procrastination, insomnia and anxiety.

You don’t hear much about TMIS because complaining about being too creative is like complaining about being to rich, to talented or to lucky. You receive nothing but strange looks and raised eyebrows. People don’t nod and comfort you, they smirk and give you a slap on the back of the head.  (think NCIS and Gibbs)

What does TMIS feel like? Imagine you open a file drawer and inside are a 100 file folders each labeled “Great Idea”. All of them seem wonderful at the time, but you can only pick one.  So you reach in and grab one random folder and open it. As you begin to read this “Great Idea” you notice that this one random folder has grown in to 3 or 4 more separate folders. The more you read, the bigger the pile gets. Soon the original folder is lost in a pile of new folders all containing even more great ideas. Before long you are again lost in an ocean of random folders and soon you become overwhelmed and unable to focus.

For many people, that’s what it feels like every time they try to capture one idea and make it a reality. Trust me, I know. I suffer from TMIS. At this very moment, my desk is covered with notebooks and tablets full of scribbles of ideas, pencil drawings, notes to myself, layout sketches, kit names, color swatches, tutorial sites, photos that need scanning. Not to mention a list of people I want to make scrapbooks for and several outline ideas for the scrapbooks. One of which is due this May and I have redone the outline 5 times.

I can’t pin point when TMIS started, but I do know when it became almost uncontrollable. The day I lost my job. I have worked from the time I was old enough and when I no longer had a job to occupy my mind the flood started.  I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night with some off the wall idea that has no connection to anything I had been thinking of during the day.

I will admit it feels very soothing to know that I am not the only one and to actually put a name to it. Even as strange sounding as the name may be. Plus I am sure that I will still get the typical smirk and possibly even a bold out loud laugh it will not bother me as much. Giving this condition a name gives it light, makes it a reality and no longer a dirty little secret hidden away in a sock drawer.
