i am super excited and extremely honored, to say the least, to have my work { littleoddforest } featured in the print & pattern book, by pattern design guru curator, bowie style! especially along with so many other talented designers - all 119 of them! you will know the most famous ones, like orla kiely, cath kidston, and jill bliss, but it's a great mix of big and small, with lesser known artists, such as myself! lynda lye! - with a little of our bio and background information. how fun!!! :D and such an honor to also be alongside some of the artists whose work i love, like ana ventura, caroline pratt, helen dardik, and marilyn patrizio! and a few other designers whose work i have just discovered and fallen in love with, such as silkie lloyd, scott rhodes, and patapri, thanks to this book!

i have been anxiously waiting for this book to be published and launched, ever since 2 years ago, when london-based designer, marie perkins (i did not know that bowie was her online pseudonym until last year!! gosh!), from the very famous pattern design blog - http://www.printpattern.blogspot.com - emailed me to ask for some product shots and write-ups. it has been 2 years since! if you read my info in the book, it says i've been doing this for the past 4 years, but it will actually be my 6th year chugging along with my baby, littleoddforest, this year 2010!

bowie scours the world for all good things, design and pattern related, as can be testified by her blog full of visual deliciousness! this print & pattern book is basically a compilation of current designers whom she had most probably previously featured/mentioned in her blog, who work with graphics, surface design, patterns, illustrations and etc., and translate them onto actual products like stationary, textiles and the like.

bowie has been really generously supportive of my work - littleoddforest has been previously featured in her print & pattern blog, and she has also very kindly helped me with some questions i had about expanding my line abroad, when i emailed her asking for any input she might have for me.

it has been a super duper long while!! goodness gracious me!
*flicks the cobwebs away, wiping off all that were left over from last year's christmas party, the new year party, and on-going chinese lunar new year celebrations*

i have totally lost my blogging/typing-down-news/events-that-have-occurred-sharing-my-thoughts-in-long-paragraphs mojo (not that i ever had a good done anyways!)

my ex-intern screamed at me over the email tonight, threatening that it would be the last reminder i get from her, about updating this forsaken business blog which i occasionally use for personal agenda and rants. i say screamed, because it was in bloody caps, underlined, and highlighted. i get your point. so even though it is 3.10am right now as i am typing this, i'll just get it done right now, because i'll most probably (definitely) just forget yet again tomorrow.

sooooo..... !!! the promise i made end of last year, which i had failed to fulfill - telling those of you, random readers, whom might not know yet, about our very first interview on singapore telly! :)

last august 2009, i was interviewed for a current affairs docu in mandarin, tuesday report 星期二特写之《360行以外》, for a feature on some of the less-taken paths (jobs/career paths/life goals) some people in singapore have chosen to take on. my segment was about how i used the world.wide.web. to help kick start littleoddforest.

one fine sunny afternoon (not kidding), i got a phone call from one of the producers of this programme, asking me about lof and etc., and so it began.

the producer was really nice and friendly, heck, the small crew consisting of the camera man and light guy, were all super nice and chatty! the first day of filming took almost one whole day. the second time they filmed was mainly for the customer interview portion, including some additional questions for me, and that also took quite a few hours, and the third and last filming was for additional shots which were needed to help in sequencing the shots. they filmed for so many many hours and it was all compressed into just about 10-15 minutes! woah. and my segment was broadcast on tv on 29 sept 2009.

this was the best 5th year in business present we can ever ask for.
from the heavens. if there was one.
the best things in life, you don't ask for, they just fall onto your lap.
thank you, crystal, and especially mandy, lijun and hazel, who have most sportingly and generously agreed to be interviewed for the littleoddforest's customer interview segment :)))))

it's way much easier to update... with random sentences than a decent-sized blog post. yes yes.. i have already mentioned that a bazillion times before. anyways... as always, so much happening, too many things have been, and are, going on in my life and daily schedules, but nothing in particular that i'd like to report here!

i got back last week from an awesome breath-taking activity-filled birthday holiday break (am not just saying activity-filled for the sake of saying activity-filled. it was really really filled with activities, day after day, morning till night. we're talking about the great outdoors here of course, not about jumping from playing card games to board games kind of activities.. lol. i mean, our holidays are usually like that, but this was the first time that we went from 1 activity to the next, every single day! super! my entire bodily senses were awakened and refreshed,

but had to dive right into littleoddforest work work work......

... and right now, all i want to do is...... ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. but fat chance of that happening any time in my life before, any time now or in the near future.

the shoppe is still updated at least once weekly, littleoddforest's facebook pages are still updated every other few days (or at least once weekly!), and every now then, if my attention span permits, i tweet updates and nonsense. these are just so much easier than blogging!! ha! you don't know what you're missing out if you're a littleoddforest shopper because i have started giving out quick updates and specials via those! ;) so anyhoo... too much going on as usual, exploding brain matter, brain pulp squeezed popped and sucked dry. i wouldn't even have the chance nor time nor inspiration to post this up if not for the gloomy weather that just ruined my plans to recuperate my creative juices at the pool. so... enough talk. some work in progress pics posted up in my flickr recently....

i might start using my own fabric designs for littleoddforest goods soon!! might. maybe. soon.
