Having Fun With Color

When I was a kid I enjoyed spending my time coloring pictures of princesses and fashioned dolls. So does my little tigger, Dina. She has deep interest in arts and crafts especially coloring. She has a big box of coloring books and not to mention there are several sets of color pencils from Crayola to Crayola Twister, she had them all. She gets better every day. When she’s not coloring, she would take sheets of papers to draw and mess the whole living room with them. So I must get her to do the coloring. She used to love using rainbow colors in all the pictures she colored. At first, it looked a little funny and adorable, but when everything kept looking with the same theme (rainbow colors), it's really sort of CLOWNISH?!! I really had to do something so she would color properly. What I did was, I bought 2 identical coloring books (mostly dolls with fancy dresses) and we’ll pick a picture to color. We would then compare the pictures that each of us colored. The outcome result will be different but of course mine is always better than hers (yeah..right!). I showed her that I can color nicely without using too many colors and challenged her to do the same. I've manage to achieved my goal... she now can match colors much better than before. Guess which are mine? I'm not a pro artist ok?

Tips : Best Video Quality Viewing

To play the videos from my blog with the best quality, do these simple steps below.

2. Right after that, click pause & allow file loading for a while.
3. When the progress bar is at least 50% turned into red, press the play button.

Reading kids grow smarter than others. Reading allows kids to explore, imagine and be creative with their thoughts. They will then apply the knowledge to deal with everyday things. Reading is actually shaping the kind of person they will become. It may be difficult to get kids to read before, but now there is an easier way to do it. Let them read stories online . There are many stories they can read online, the fun audio and visual might help them get started with reading. I hope to gain kids interest to start reading and encourage them to read even more.

Here are some of the best places to go for online reading:

Magic Keys - It’s a collection of short stories that is easy to read and simple yet very interesting. Suitable for young reader.

Chateau Meddybemps-Beantime Stories - Entertaining stories with cute pictures and also humorous.

Bedtime-Story - A collection of Classics like Alice in Wonderland, Kids Stories, Magical Stories, Adventure and Imaginative Stories can be found here. The stories are divided into several categories. There are many to choose from and suitable for intermediate to advanced reader.

Woodland Junior School - A big collection of stories for primary school kids.

There are more than 4 million coloring websites available today. That makes coloring is the most popular activity among kids all over the world. It is also a fun way to experiment, match, blend and create new colors by mixing them together. Coloring helps kids to improve their motor skill and also developing good hand and eye co-ordination. That’s something I know from watching Dina (my daughter). Sometimes I would print coloring pages from the internet and spend time coloring with Dina because she loves it so much!! So I have several interesting websites that have printable coloring pages.

PBS Kids Sesame Street - Learn the Alphabets and Numbers while coloring.

Color The Animals by National Geographic - Exciting way to learn about animals.

Educational Coloring Pages - Boys and girls will love this website. It features many popular icons and characters like Disney’s princesses, Barbie, Power Puff Girls, Hello Kitty, My Little Pony, Care Bears, Dora the Explorer and many more that girls totally adore. As for boys they can meet their favorite characters like Superman, Spiderman, Batman, Harry Potter, and etc.

Coloring Page - For a beginner, start coloring with these simple and easy coloring pages with basic pictures and at the same time kids can also learn about everyday things like transportation, animals, flower, and holidays. Many pictures to choose from.

I wanted to share this info with all mothers out there about my finding. I’ve been searching for the best tools to teach my daughter how to read. Dina (my precious daughter) was only just 3 years old back then and I was an eager mother who wanted to educate my kid at such very early age. I knew that learning by phonics method is the only way, so I bought books, stuffs and all possible materials that I could find.

I tried so hard teaching Dina phonics and getting her attention to stay focus in every session was not an easy task. It’s been very tiring. So, I searched the internet for the sites that offer an online lesson or software to teach my kid… and after quite a while, I came across this AMAZING website that teaches phonic reading and I immediately fell in love with STARFALL. I knew this was the right place for my kids to have fun reading education.
