British artist Nicola Yeomen sent me images of her site specific installation "In Waiting". Oh how, I'd love to be able to walk around this warehouse. Yeoman does such an incredible job with incorporating her surroundings within her over all pieces.

”In Waiting”, a sculpture composed principally of drapery and cement, is part of a series of circular installations in different materials that form an ongoing body of work. The installation is part of a series of six circular sculptures using different materials that Yeoman has photographed and which are available as a signed, limited edition portfolio.

"In Waiting" is on display now through March 17, 2012 at Wyer Gallery. A Limited edition, boxed portfolio set of six prints: ‘Scrapbook Circles’ signed by the artist, is also available.

I wrote below that I'll be incorporating designers I find inspiring now on the blog. I figured what better way to start this new era than with the scarves I spotted on Fieldguided. Anabela has hinted a few times about scarves they are making...and I can not wait til they are available. Look at how gorgeous they are! 

Oh, I love this. Jill Bliss had a show back in 2008 (which I covered - way back when the columns were much smaller!) and the ribbon garldands that decorated the show were lost in a warehouse. They were finally returned this past November, 3 years later! So Jill turned that frown upside down and now they're ready for you in her shop!

I remember seeing the pictures for the show (above with the beautiful Saelee Oh) and thinking ooooh, I like those...

JR has been updating his You Tube page with new videos. Hustler of Culture posted a video of his beginnings in 2000, and I had to follow suit and post one as well.

Last year I posted about JR's project Wrinkles of the City, LA. I was unaware that there was a video documenting the people who's images he wheate-pasted. It's a great video. Wonderful to see the pieces come to life. And man, it's so touching and moving to hear them speak about their wrinkles! I'm creeping up on 40 and it's interesting how I never really once thought about getting old until the past year and a bit. It's a trip, really.

I love the strength and wisdom in these interviews. But above all I love the freedom they each person has all gotten with age. Amazing. I want that.

As I have mentioned a few times over that past few months, I am shifting the direction of the blog — slightly. I'll still be staying within the idea of inspiration, of course. But I plan on pushing it a bit and incorporating designers and other people and things I find inspiring.

There are so many folks I admire who make things and who make their living making things. And it blows my mind. Plus there are tons of creative folks with the best shops selling these wares. Most of you don't know this, but my background (of almost 20 years) is in high-end retail. Yep, I was a huge retail snob (but I'm always a sucker for a $15 H&M dress). So I'll be bringing in a bit more of my 2nd love: accessories and clothes.

This is where my male readers groan! Stay with me boys, I know you'll be inspired too! I promise.

So along with posting here and there about lovely handmade things, I'll also branch out my 'studio visits' to designers and shops. I have one visit this weekend that I'll be posting for next week that I'm really excited for!
