I love Blender Lane. I think it's my favourite lane in the CBD. Lots of good stuff that usually stays around for a while.

Melbourne has upright pianos through the CBD for people to play with. It seems to have been greeted with pleasure by Melbournites ranging from the untutored to opera singers. I've found three so far:

16 Jan: Opposite Target on Bourke Street. Taggers got to this one.

14 Jan: Outside the Flinders Street station. This girl was singing opera really well as she was playing, but was really struggling with the wind.

14 Jan: On the Docklands side of Princess Bridge, at the Gallery end of the bridge.

Sometimes it's better late than never. I looked up as I was about to cross Flinders Lane and there she was ... a Be Free angel half hidden by a sign.

The roller door to Local Birds, the smallest shop in Melbourne sold for a record $380,000 back in October 2013.

The food's not bad either, and very reasonably priced.

I try to get over to Footscray every month or so and there was lots of stuff in Chambers Street to enjoy (as well as the Baby Guerilla).

So excited to discover a new favourite ... the wonderful paste ups of Baby Guerilla. I've seen her work around the place and was delighted to discover who to attribute them to.

I love the scale and scope and detail of them, and yet they're so delicate at the same time.

I can't wait to see more.

This huge mural has been at the back of the lane for years.

And this Debs has been at the entrance of Sister Bella's for as long as I can remember.

Blenders Lane: Drewfunk

I was trying to get a decent shot of the DrewFunk in Blender Lane when a passerby asked me what I was doing. I forget everybody doesn't share my passion for public art and when I explained he spent quite a bit of time exploring the lane for himself.

PS I couldn't get the whole DrewFunk in with the lens I took ... the mural is way too big. I'll have to go back another time.

One of the best Melbourne street artists is Deb. You can find her stuff all over Melbourne.

Wandering through Fitzroy after taking the husband to try Yong Green Food for the first time (interestingly good food), I got the chance to show off two Deb's.

This hot chick ...

... and this roller derby gal on the side of the Grizzly Cafe.

I love her bold, independent women, her colours, her style.

Too bad she's off to San Franciso. Look after our Deb's ... treat her well or you'll have us to answer to.

DrewFunk: Union Lane

Favourite piece from Union Lane in the Melbourne CBD. I think it's by DrewFunk but I'm not sure. The image reminds me of one of my favourite Union Lane, even Melbourne, pieces ever.

I love the spray can and the sense the image is surreptitiously spraying, that he's doing something wrong.

Remember Myers from a few month's back?

Lunch at Gong de Lin for a friend's birthday gave us a bird's eye view behind the Lonsdale Street Myer facade.

Quite a bit of progress since I last looked: about half of the flooring looks as though it's in.

Gong de Lin, by the way, is the best Chinese vegetarian I've had in Melbourne.

Plumber's shop, Kensington

I haven't been to Kensington in years, but went to meet a couple of friends for tacos at La Tortilleria. Good food and conversation and time for a quick wander around Kensington near the train station before heading for home.

My eye was quickly caught by this old shop, a plumber's shop at some stage during its career.

A change from the street art, but art even nonetheless.
