Kia Ora!

Days at the Kiwi Land.

Day 1

When we reached Christchurch, it was almost midnight. Waited hungrily at the airport, to pick out our pre-rented car, a hatch back Toyota Corolla. I am thinking to get this car in the future. Perhaps another version, as this model does not exist in this country. The 11 hours flight did make us super hungry. Food in plane was not ample enough for both of us. Once we got our car, we proceed to our Point Break Backpackers in New Brighton. Every where was dark, shops are closed and we were so hungry. The lady manager who checked in for us made us sandwiches. She was sleeping when we arrived, luckily she offered to prepare us sandwiches before we head to bed.

Day 2

We woke up pretty early that day. Before 8 am we were outside the backpacker's inn strolling around. It was quiet. The weather was breezing.

We don't see anyone at that hour. We were the only 2 crazy lads who were strolling around the town. So we headed back to the backpackers and had our breakfast.

We stop by at the New Brighton beach before we proceed our journey to the South.

There is a big glass window at the back of the library where you can sit and read and mesmerize the sea.

While heading South, we noticed the roads were quite devastated due to the earthquake. Tremors were felt at some point.

Along the journey .... you'll see plains, heaps of mountain and tress.. everything was so blue , green and tranquil.

The 7-9 hours driving journey was like a WOW factor to us. The scenery was too beautiful to be disregard. I am so in love with New Zealand. The scenery was so picturesqueness that one cant even express the beauty of it. It was truly breath taking. It makes you want to roll on the greens and just mesmerize the beauty of the mother nature. At that moment you just want to pray that the time will stop.

God's creation are magnificent. I never thought we will spot a lake in the middle of our journey.We have reached Lake Tekapo. Every hour we were blessed with beautiful scenery. The lake was so blue that you cant really believe it with your own eyes! I have never seen such a place in my whole life.

There are pit stop, restaurant, motels and hotels at Lake Tekapo. Driving is comfortable in South Island as there are not many cars. You are only allowed to drive 50 - 100 km/hr. Driver is on the right hand side. We did not stay over night at Lake Tekapo, we continue heading South after lunch.

When you passed by Lindis Pass, you will know that you are already half way through the South. Roads might be icy during winter and one might need chain if road's condition worsen. Do check website for more information on the weather forecast and road condition of New Zealand before journey.

As we passed Lindis Pass, it was soon dusk. There were no lamp post along the highway. I suggest its best to drive during the day, We passed by T- junction to Mount Cook then Tanzel, Omara before we finally reached Queenstown.

Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast

There are not much of changes since 1993. The apartment where my family and I used to stay, Bahia is still remaining firm there. Sea World, Dream World everything looks the freaking same!

Air fare are not that invariably low-priced. It has been years since we had our real.. long … forethought to fly to Oz. My aunts in Oz have meant us to visit them many years ago. We never did. Until one day where AirAsia has this massive 1 million seats for sales. Air Asia has routes to Melbourne, Perth and Gold Coast instead of Sydney and Adelaide, that‘s where my aunts and family are living. We thought hey why not we get the cheapest flights and fly of somewhere in Oz then get some other domestic low fare flights to either Sydney or Adelaide then? We end up cooped up in Surfers Paradise, Gold Coast for 6 days which was truly chillax!

I never in my whole life have that laziest and relaxing long retreat by the beach. You see we tend to travel to places with itineraries filled and packed 24/7 to do activities, sites visits and shopping. We want to see every single thing in a place. Instead, I sloth in Surfers Paradise for 6 days doing nothing! It was amazing! I feel rejuvenate, unstrained and I am begging for more. You know when you rouse from you long beautiful sleep, you saunter to the balcony with a cup of coffee on your hand, and as you walk nearer to the balcony, can feel the breeze rushing through your face, you look up at the blue sky seeing few albatross flying at a nearby distance then you gaze at the sea. It’s was totally mesmerizing! I love that feeling!

TIPS: Get a hotel / apartment (if there are numbers of people as it’s cheaper) at Surfers Paradise. It is very convenient as it’s the sandy beach is along the coast. It is also facilitate with shuttle bus service. Walking is definitely you want to do by the beach.

We spend most of our time at the beach doing nothing, tanning our self, reading and sleeping at the beach. We took a day’s class of surfing and another day of yacht cruise nearby. I did terrible in surfing my body weight is dragging me down to the ocean, but I am going back to do that again. It’s tired but it was fun. All I need is the proper gear to get down there to surf and losing few pounds of blubber might help too.

TIPS: Cruises and surfing class are always available at the hotel receptions or internet. You can book online for cheaper rate. You can also book advance with travel agent from your country.

I enjoyed the yacht cruise, if you are lucky you might get to see a whale or dolphins. The cruises will halt on an island where there are many activities arranged for you to experience such as sand boarding, jet skiing, rafting, karaoke and etc…

I have to admit that it is really expensive to dine in Surfers Paradise. Their currency is getting stronger and booming every day.

Did I mention I travel solo to Bangkok?

It was tremendously gratifying to be at owns leisure. Sleep and awake at the time that I relish. Eating at my own pleasance, paying no heed to the calories, wiping out what I had desired in Malaysia. Going to Bangkok is like getting an orgasm! I know it well-grounded exaggerated. I merely love Thailand.

After my college years, I traveled a lot to Thailand consecutively every year, whether it’s to the North border of Malaysia Hatyai, Padang Besar, the Andaman Sea or well Bangkok. I remembered I made my first trip to Thailand when I was 3.

So here I was in Bangkok, living in Silom, in Furama Xclusive Sathorn. The hotel lies in the small narrow soi of Silom nearby Chong Nongsi MRT station. What could be better? Tips: I found out a better way to go to the town from Airport instead of a taxi. The shuttle bus that is offered in Suvarnabhumi Airport has an excellent service which is at 150 baht (estimated) per person, sharing with other tourists or dwellers and will drop you right a couple of steps away from your hotel main entrance. Taxi service is usually charged at 400-600 baht. Economize that money and I am going to afford myself an extra credit for Thai massage.

Main reason was to rejuvenate, eat and shop. I chill, I eat, I shop.

Plus size clothes it’s at almost every corner of Bangkok. You just need to browse every shops and markets around and with that special oculus of yours. The price is fantastic and surprising. You might get to purchase 4-8 clothes at 1000 baht. Trust me I have been there. The weather was hot and humid, I was sweaty but with purchases that are made economize, you find it’s worth it to soak with sweats.

FYI: Fat Story a plus size shop where I was their patrons was closed in Suan Lum Night Market due to the Red-Yellow Shirt riot. Not sure if it’s going to re-open. I was quite disappointed for not being able to check out their shop.

Satisfied your taste bud with the authentic Thai food, eat whatever that pulls in your taste bud at the hawkers right beside the streets. Just point and ask “Tao rai”. It won’t be expensive. You can get food as cheap as 10 baht.

I can’t wait for my next trip.

April.. Hubby and I flew off to Taipei without informing any one in the family. We have bought the tickets a year earlier with eccentric cheap price. Great deal indeed at RM400 ++ for 2 pax returned tickets. I managed to inform a few family members regarding this trip when I am waiting for my flight to depart.

Kent was kinda excited to be in Taipei. You know those tele-game show that has been showing in the TV cable from Taiwan really hypnotize him. Kent arrange all the itinerary in Taipei whilst I did some arrangement on the hotel and airport transfer. It was Kent's first time to be in Taipei so he has the say to where and when to go.

We were picked up by a limo, yes a limo! Only both of us were in the limo. The airport transfer were awesome. It was so spacious and comfortable. At first I thought I will be placed in a narrow crappy old van with other tourist. Not a bad day after all.

We reach our hotel which is 10 minutes away from the Famous Xi Men Ding, have a quick shower then off we went wonder the city of Taipei...

This is where shopping and eating happens most of our time here in Xi Men Ding.

So the first day was eating and shopping around XI Men Ding.

Most of our time were in bed watching and searching 200 TV channels. Did I say 200 channels in our TV?

I am not lying!

Second day was more to touring, a nice landmark tours of Taipei.

Ok we went to this creepy tourists shop where we were told eating fawn powder helps this and that for the health. By looking at the dead dried fawn, who wants to eat it anyway? That is the name of the shop.

Kent and I then end up in Bei Tou for our little hot Spring Spa, the Taiwanese way.

We have this private pool for our selves.

It's a hot spring we didn really soak long in it.

After the hot bath, we went to Jiu Fen for more foodie, in Taipei there were many hawkers selling appetizer or junk food. I always like hanging out at the small hawkers area where there were ample of food to choose.

Kent queued for 20 minutes for a nasty piece. It's not that special anyway.

So we walk into the crowd of Shilin Night Market. I didn;t hang out long the crowd gave me headache.

Again we linger awhile then back to our hotel watching Tivo again.

The very next day most of our time were in Tan Shui. Did nothing but stare at seas and goes for boat rides. Again more eating.

At the end of the day we went downtown to check out 101 Building. We were really disappointed. Darn dark! No spotlights for the tallest building. We still love our KLCC. hahhaa...

Then the very next day we woke up late , had little brunch, linger awhile in Xi Men Ding then off to the airport with a narrow van no more limo. Sigh .. . -_-""

New York …. Frank Sinatra , Alicia Keys here I come....

Start breaking the news… I’m leaving today.. I want to be a part of it New York New York …. Among all the states in the

, New York entices me the most. It has been my dreams to visit Manhattan for years. The yellow taxi cab, the Wall Street, Central Park it’s just luring. Hollywood movies did all the magic that brings me to it.

After the exciting trips in North Carolina, I headed to New York. My jet arrived in LaGuardia Airport; we took a shuttle bus to our hotel in Times Square. It was exhilarating even though it was confined in the shuttle bus. I can’t wait to get to Times Square where everyone talks about. After the shuttle bus drops few passengers at their designated hotel, we were finally arrived. The hotel looks fancy enough as it is in its website.

We dropped our luggage headed to Times Square. We explore the area in Times Square. Judging by the laziness of me to walk we opt for the New York Hop on Hop off Sightseeing bus.. It is the easiest way to explore New York, New York from the East to the West, North to the South!

Our first stop was at Battery Park. It was way crowded to board to the ferry to get across the Staten Island so I took a little picture of the lady then walk up north to the Wall Street, check out ground zero. We then walk to the Brooklyn Bridge athwart to Brooklyn.

We then walk up North to the Wall Street. The Bull caught my attention.

There is one in Pavillion, KL as well.

Since the site was under construction, we walk towards Brooklyn Bridge.

Chinatown. I am not sure if its still early. It kinda seem quiet. It is certainly big!

We stop at Rockefeller. We didn't manage to go up toThe Rocks as we were kinda chasing the time. So we stop take a few snaps of photos at the ice skating ring. Then head to NBC, bought few souvenirs from the NBC store.

Few shops ahead you will see the Radio City Hall.

Walking is the best way to learn and discover New York!

After that I visited the Hudson River and went up North Side of New York to the Harlem.

If I am not mistaken I have almost reach the 207th Street.

How it starts in US – Winston Salem

I am back to the good old US of America! I am a big fanatic for USA! Flying to US was fun and at the same time tiring.

We transit in Shanghai ate few Shanghai-nese “Siu Long Pau” and beef noodles before we departed to Chicago O’hare Airport. The tarmac was covered with snow when the plane landed. Kent was really inspired to see the whole trail was covered with snow. What excites us most was when we notice our favorite diner at the corner. JOHNNY ROCKETS! After 2 and half years we finally get a bite one the fries and burgers. Well the taste is a bit out of our expectation. It’s not the taste we had while we were in Coconut Groove.

We departed to Greensboro, North Carolina via a jet where it can only occupy less than 30 passengers. It kinda looks like a private jet. It was a cool experience to be in one of that kind of jet. The size of the jet is less significant than a coach.

As we reach Greensboro Airport, we were greeted with a big FAVE FAN WINNERS welcome banners. We were showed to our limo with a big Fave Fan sticker at the side of the limo’s door. It was posh and I felt like a celebrities. As when we reached the hotel, man I was totally amazed. You should check out Gralyns. It was a first manor house I ever lived in. I couldn’t sleep that night I was there to explore the manor house. It was truly amazing to be in it.

There are 9 winners of Fave Fan around the world. We were all treated like Kings and Queens not only in the mansion but everywhere we go. We were greeted by a band, the mayor, CEO of Krispy Kreme, we were escorted by police, cameras, videos, what I love most we have fans and we were on TV news! It was eye opening and I felt proud at every moment.

I get to gain knowledge of and understand the cultural from all the winners, tasted the Moravian pie, I have the comprehension to make doughnut. How a multinational company’s CEO can be that kind and nice. How the organization of a Western company is so much dissimilarity than the Chinese companies. How the first tobacco came to Winston Salem. Identify who RJ Reynolds was. Exploring RJ’s house and discover history.

While in Salem Winston, I visited Reynolda Village and House, Old Salem, few university, renowned NBA basketball court. Then everything and whereabouts is Krispy Kreme headquarters, factory, and etc. I will let some pictures do the talking.

I went for a 9 days trip to London, Brighton and Paris. I don’t really need to pull out my pocket maps searching for details for the tourist spots and stuff as Helen and JY (well I consider them the localsat the moment) were doing their impression and guiding us all the ways for the trip which was kinda really good. So I sit back relax and enjoy them pulling me thru the whole journey in

My flight arrived at the Terminal 4, Heathrow Airport wee in the morning. Hours of gooey and sticky in the plane were finally over. I don’t feel fresh when I am on plane. It was a 12 hours journey flight, well not too bad. I slept for like 8 hours then munch my food; day dreaming and I don’t really enjoy the entertainment given on flight. It was dead as hell. I only miss dad.

So as we reached, (I went with my dearest aunt and cousin). We took a cab to the nearest airport hotel and took a shower as my cousin was there the night before. Then off to the inn by a taxi, we stayed over night in Mayfair which is in Oxford Circus. Yes we did loads of shopping that day. We traveled by the Chiltern Railways, got our tickets to Bicester North to the Bicester Village where branded outlets items were sold. So there we were shopping and getting weary the whole day. We returned to London, head to China Town for some crispy duck for dinner. In London, traveling is easy. All you have to do is to buy a one day ticket return for both underground and bus which is available at every underground station which is sold at approximately 6 Pounds for one person. Before night ends, we head to local bars for few pints then head to bed.

We continue shopping on the early of second day. Then off to visit the icons of London with our shopping bags. We made our stop at Trafalgar Square, Big Ben, The Eye of London, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Winchester Palace, Buckingham Palace, St Paul’s cathedral then lunch at the in Borough Market. All icons can be access via underground and London buses. We took few snaps of the

’s Icon. We returned to our inn, packed and taxied ourselves to Brighton.

In Brighton, our hotel was just in front of the bay front which was lovely. A slower pace and is also a lovely place to live in. It took around one and a half hour to travel from London to Brighton by a taxi. Not to mention the fare was costly too. I got to say that I had a great steak for dinner that night.

Watching the sea breeze and the sunrises at the bay front which is exactly sited in front of our hotel was mesmerizing. We went to the Brighton Pier as to our dismay it was still closed. So we ended up strolling in theBrighton. Window shopping, sight seeing. And then the main reason of this trip is to attend a special event of my cousin’s graduation. It was an honored to be invited to attend his graduation. I have been attending his graduation / convocation all this while. By night, he took us to Marina, where the restaurant is a boat serving Chinese food which is kinda like Jumbo restaurant in Hong Kong but smaller, for dinner. The food was totally awesome with real Malaysian taste bud.

Next day we return to London, a visit to Hyde Park is a must for me. It’s like visiting Central park in New York. After a short walk we then continue to Bond Street with more ladies shopping.

and left us four with our journey to Paris. It took us 2 hours to reachParis via Eurostar. Weather was really freezing. Snow was to spot on the ground. I guess it snow the night before we arrived. Frankly, I hate the underground subway in Paris. It was a total chaotic and it’s pungent and dirty. Their amenities and services are not up to the standard. I was kinda disappointed to see such a romantic country in such a filthy way. While cousin was sleeping in the hotel, I brought my aunt and Jia Yuen for a stroll in St Germain – St Michael – Odeon and the Latin Quarters. Dog turds are spotted everywhere. It’s really disgusting. You might want to be aware where you are walking or stepping.

We opt for an open tour via a hop on hop off Double Decker bus for 2 days in Paris which is really convenient than to travel by the subways. The bus really does the entire job for us. We stop at the Lourve, Champs Elysees, Notre Dame, Eiffel Tower, Bastile, Siene River. We just hop on and off as we like. I love that bus! By the end we stop at the Boulevard for our dinner. I got to tell you I love every meals serve in Paris.

Paris was more like sight seeing for us. Shopping is crazily expensive there. We stop at Champs Elysees had a stroll and shop a bit. The last day of Paris was truly unforgettable as we had French Cuisine in a fine dining restaurant in St Germain. It was lovely and a bit chaotic at first with the personal Seafood Platters. I am happy that I get to taste few authentic French Cuisine such as Foie Gras, French veil, Escargot, the fresh seafood platters which I worried I will get sick after few oysters well it didn’t happen. It’s only about food and sight seeing in Paris. I love French croissant!

The very next day we return to London. Flight back home was at night. Last minute shopping and family good byes….

What I love most about this trip is the experience, the love and honored which my aunt and her families have given me, the hospitality, and last but not least the amazing food I had through out the journey. This astonishing trip will never be forgotten and will be kept as an experience of a life time.

Trips advice - When sightseeing in London is best to travel via underground and buses. As for Paris for both sigh seeing and shopping its best you opt for the Open Tour!

Hard Rock Hotel Penang

Finally I get to step in Hard Rock Hotel in Penang which was opened on Hari Raya Eve 2009. I am a Hard Rock fans. Few cool statues, cool Hard Rock signs and signature in front of the hotel. At the left end of the hotel, there is this Hard Rock stores selling Hard Rock Penang merchandise.

You’ll see as the above when you drive to the end of Batu Feringghi Beach. The Hard Rock’ glam guitar is right in front of the main entrance. While the late Michael Jackson’s statue is located exactly right in front of Hard Rock Cafe.

Snaps few pictures while wandering in the hotel. The hotel it’s just well OK for me. It looks like Tanjung Bunga Paradise Hotel with some monument and few signature of local Malaysian artistes personal belonging mounted on the wall.

I can’t help my self I am missing South Beach so so much today! It has been 2 years and yes I am so missing it right now! I am bounding off my Krabi trip post today. Nothing about Krabi in this post.

I have taken almost a days time by an awful long haul flight journey just to reach the beautiful tropical , mesmerizing Miami! The white sandy beach , the naked beautiful sexy ladies, the sweet sweet minty cold Mojitos, The Cuban Latin song that keeps playing in my head. It’s simply spellbinding! This whole trip has influence me to watch Burn Notice I am emphatically in love with the movie because of the scenery and beach. Well I love Michael Westin my self.

As when Kent and I reached Miami International Airport we taxied a cab to our hotel in Coconut Groove. While on the way to our hotel, we noticed masses of low rise building, palm trees and the sky is so saturated blue. The buildings are coiffure coordinately. The luxury private yacht, cruise and ships are all aligned beautifully beside the beach. The excitement is unexplainable. My heart beats unusually fast that day. I am so charged up for the upcoming plans that I have forethought few months before.

I basked my short ride to the hotel. As we reached Sonesta Bayfront Hotel at Coconut Grove, we were welcomed by a concierge. The hotel looks like an average building externally while the hotel lobby is simply modern with few artistic pictures mounting on the wall. Both of us are felicitous that we received a warm welcome from both the concierge and the reception. It was lovely.

The long haul flight really gets to my nerve. I was jet lag, air sick, light headed. There were so many things I want to do. My tired mind is simply lethargic. I had my shower, lay a bit, turn on my lap top, MSN my family that I have safely arrived. I recuperate a bit then prepared to stroll around the hotel area.

Right next to our hotel is the famous Coco Walk Mall and Mayfair Hotel. Kent and I saunter around the building and the Streets of Mayfair. There are various shops that sell varieties of the American brand trademarks. What caught my attention was Victoria Secret. My bosom needs to have an Americanize souvenir too. So I did a little shopping there, then had dinner in Johnny Rocket across the Street of Mayfair which is next to the hotel we are staying.

Kent and I had burgers and for starters we had chili fries. I got to tell you that I had the best Chili Fries ever! I love Johnny Rocket Chili Fries. Is a simple dish yet has this unique flavor with their special condiment and gravy! This is simply tempting, I am hungry for one now. We were served well by this young lad who is very meticulous and boy he is hardworking. He frequented asked us if our food is good and if everything is alright. We appreciated him a lot. Too bad that we didn't get note of his name. Bless this young man!

We return to our hotel after our dinner. Watching young people partying the night away!

We were charged up the next day. We woke up 7 am in the morning due to jet lag. It was odd. Everything from the outside was dark. No car or nothing not a single soul. It was wee Sunday. We tune our TV, nothing but advertisement, then tune to Comedy Central watch Sarah Silverman sniffing and licking her dogs butt. One heck of a movie. It was kinda time wasted sitting in the hotel watching TV. Kent and I finally decided that we move out to stroll at McFarlane Road hat wee morning.

The air was refreshing, the sky is crystal clear. Everything seemed so relax as if everything was pause for that moment. There were no one on the streets. We headed to the nearest Metrorail at Coconut Grove. No shops were open we were the only 2 weirdo that walks in the street. We snapped our picture at every corner. Along the way, there were massive beautiful bungalows. The Spanish home was irresistible. I can’t help my self but envy all those intricate beautiful designs of the houses. How we both wished we are able to owned a home that luxury and splendid. Awww…..While envying the enticing home, we met a friendly couple. From far, I can see both of them giving us a warmth smile. Without hesitating, I asked for the Metrorail direction just incase if we had walked the wrong way. The man gave us a clear direction and assure us that we are going the right way. Everything seems splendid and goes along my way.

We walked for almost 20 minutes and we finally hear the gushing and rushing sounds of the train. Yup we finally see the Metrorail across the street. Before we rushed over, we had our breakfast at Subway which is just down the road. Then proceed with our journey to the Government Station where we switch to Metromover to downtown. Going downtown via Metromover is free for public.Well the thing is , it’s kind of dirty.

The panorama transformed from one station to the other. High rise building are to be seen in every corner. There is this big canal which can be seen stretch out in Miami. Looking at it makes you think of CSI MIAMI during the movies’ opening.

As we reached downtown, we walked to the Bayfront Park in the beautiful Biscayne Bay. Linger a bit here and there feel the vivid wind blew on our face. We had camera and video on our neck, holding each other hands, walking freely is simply relaxing. This is all I ever wanted, holding each other hands walking freely, feeling the serenity and panoramic view.

We came across the The Bayfront Park Amphitheater is located within Bayfront Park included permanent reserved seats; new, picturesque sightlines to Biscayne Bay; a new superior roof structure; state-of-the-art production capabilities; The Tina Hills Pavilion is also located within the park and is available for smaller concerts, receptions, corporate events, and press conferences.

We proceed to Bayside Market. Selling from souvenirs to Cuban goods, cruises to Cuba and the Caribbean, varieties of food and steak. We stop by for our lunch at a Chinese diner. Then hang out in Hard Rock shopping for goodies and souvenirs. Mostly about shopping and wandering in that area. We that walked to the Overtown, East of Little Havana experiencing the locals shopping and stuff which is kind of amusing. I do admit Latinos and Latinas are pretty people. Look at Enrique!

We took a cab to Miami Beach. The main aim was to go to Miami Ink. Kent and I were so eager to meet the Miami Ink celebrities. As when The cab reach the first junction of Washington Avenue I know I was near. We are very close to the place of our dream. The cab stop right in front of the shop. The excitement and the indescribable feelings is so enthusiast. Man , we snap pictures like crazy! As when I try to enter the shop, not even one person from the TV show was in there. That sudden rush of adrenalin all of the sudden seems to just stop. The butterfly just died in my stomach. Oh well, as long as I have been there and done that. I didn’t get my tattoo there. What’s the point if it is not done by the celebrities.

After our craziness of photo snapping we walked towards the sound of the hypnotizing waves. South Beach here we come! The ladies with their bikinis, the macho man with their six packed abs all lying on the white sandy beach. I have never been so happy to be in South Beach, Miami Beach. Again me and hubby walk hand in hand, our legs in the sand , feel the cold waves rush through our legs. Is simply unforgettable… We spent the whole lovely evening there then return to our hotel in Coconut Grove.

We were dead tired after the whole day of strolling. We had dinner at a pizzeria which is right next to out hotel. Then head up to bed.

The very next day I spend my whole day shopping in Coco Walk and Mayfair Street. Walking in the park nearby MacFarlane Road. I did some how remembered while I was browsing magazines in a shop , well Boy Magazine,and there were so many eyes looking at me. It was funny though. I guess they have never seen an Asian lady viewing one before.

The beach , the sun , the romance, the drink, the music all keeps playing in my head. I am not sure when I will return but I will definitely return to MIAMI one day!

The following day, we head to Krabi by Air Asia. As when we reach Krabi, we were led to the Tiger Temple. No tigers are seen. Please do not obnubilate your self with the tiger temple up north in Bangkok where you have in mind . Instead this tiger temple is occupied with monkeys. Nothing much to view there, only a few nuns were making their prayers.

We stayed in a hotel located in Aonang Beach, Krabi La Playa Resort. A relaxed and cozy resort serving delicious buffet breakfast I would say. I got a great swimming pool view from my room. Along the way to La Playa Resort you wouldn’t miss the beautiful beach. Head down to the town for a stroll, along Aonang Beach you’ll see many massage parlors, sea food restaurants, western dinner, fast food chain restaurant, Talad, traveling booth, bank, currency exchange shop and camera shops, tailor and etc. Not much of vehicles, it’s not hectic, not a heavy traffic jam like in Kuta, Bali. It really soothes the mood. The sounds of the wave which is just nearby are just simply bracing.

What to do in Krabi?

If you are to reach Krabi and ain’t got anything much to do you can go to the small traveling booth to book a day or half day trip of an adventure. Price is affordable. I picked a 4 day long tail boat, island hopping for a day trip which only cost 450 Baht and it includes lunch, snorkeling and transportation for return from hotel to the jetty. Islands arranged on itinerary are Poda, Tub, Phranang and Chicken Island.

Second day in Krabi, we went island hoping by a traditional long tail boat which took around an hour or less to reach the first island of Phranang Beach. We took 10 minutes walk in the island to reach the beach as boats are prevented to stop right in front of Phranang beach. We halted at Railay Beach. En route to the beach you will come upon these stalactite caves. Mind your head if you are more than 6 feet tall. There is this one private (name forgotten)5 star luxurious hotel resort which is located in this secluded island that caught my attention. Fences are built around the resort and have prevented us from glimpsing inside. I only get to peek a bit of the luxuriousness of the resort, when a hotel guest who was checking out from the resort, escorted by the bellboy the fence was only wide open for a minute or two.

The sound of the waves really makes you eager to reach the beach. I can’t wait to be dousing in the sea. Not much of tourist, as I reach the beach there is this small shrine filled and assembled with wooden a like phallus where the Thai’s believe when a woman touch or pray the statue of phallus, they will be blessed with offspring. As for the fisherman, they pray for their safety to return to land before they head out to the sea. Snapping photos of the cave, the temple, the last thing I do, run in to the sea. The water is simply freshening up after walking under the hot sun. We were there for an hour. We return back to our boat for the second Island hopping.

Next stop Poda Island; this is where we stop for 3 hours for our lunch and leisure. Poda Island is a bit crowded with tourists. Cleanliness is not as expected, there were lots of dead dried sea weed, dried corals, sharp pebbles- when where you step on it you want to just curse!, a bit of here and there used food waste at the coast of the beach. Not really what I have in mind. It’s just a typical island.

After the whole 2 hours of boredom in the small island of Poda, we were brought to the Chicken Island. The boat ventured us to the center of the sea for snorkeling. It was way awesome, feeding the colorful vibrant school of fishes under the water, swimming with the fishes, the beauty of the nature and sea is just speechless. There were not many people snorkel with us as our boat carried less that 10 people. No weird stranger, unlike what I had in my past experience with the Sea Angels Phuket Cruise which took us to the Monkey Island, where hundreds of people jump into the sea in each other’s company and snorkel for an hour. It was a dreadful scene; it was like a bunch of illegal immigrants attempting to take their breath after outwore swimming for hours. There was supposed to be school of fishes but was all kicked back away. People are trying to kill each other by kicking at each other in the sea. All I can witness were legs and the ripples that the immigrants did. Nasty!

Koh Kai - Chicken Island

Tub Island was the last island to hop. The island reminds me of Mataking Island in Sabah. It is one awe-inspiring island. How do I describe this island? A small island with a big rock, on top of the rock there were few bushes grown on it. It’s was truly inspiring, To be exact, it is an island where the middle part of the island is kinda submerged and washed away with shallow water so it looks like as if there were two island connected by a sandbar. The two islands are joined by sand bars that rise up from the sea when the tide is low. Out far, you can envision as if people were float walking on the sea.

The trip at Tub Island was a bit short as the cloud was dark and was on its mode with heavy down pour. I was busy having fun at the island and the gust clouds urged us to get back to the boat .What a waste! The trip back is a no fun we were all soaked wet as it was like a boat race against the rain. I was worry sick that my camera will be dead wet. The rain subside when we reach land. Camera is still dry clean in my thick plastic bag. LoL

Well the second day ended with our dinner at Pizza Hut with beer. Continue with Swenson which is right next to Pizza Hut for dessert. We were tired but happy for the awesome cheap trip. Drunk and tired returned to our hotel to charge up for our next day island hopping to Phi Phi Island..

Meeting Gabriella in Bangkok...

I am happy that after 10 years of writing snail mails and email I finally get to reunite with one of my school mates from Italy. Gabriella and her mom fly all the way from Italy to visit me in Bangkok. It is hard for me to express my feeling. I feel honored to have them and to meet them in Bangkok after all these years.

They were in Bangkok for 2 days staying in Reno Hotel which is just opposite to the National Stadium BTS station, nearby to where I live. It is also located opposite MBK and the rate is as cheap as 1200 Baht per night. Reno has its own swimming pool and its convenience. I would say it’s a 2-3 star budget hotel.

I guided them to the canals where we were to travel like the local Thais. We visited Wat Arun, travel along the canals, visiting the city by the local BTS. Then do a little shopping in MBK.

On the second day, they arranged themselves with the hotel travel agent for a short day trip to a floating market in Damnoen Saduak. I did not traveled along as it was way too early in the morning. They wake up at 5 am then travel up north of Bangkok city to Damnoen Saduk.. After their trip in the floating market, they went for the elephant and crocodile show. We met for dinner that day in HaChiBan Ramen then shop a little at a small Talad at the overhead bridge in MBK. This small talad can only be seen at around 9 pm.

Marveling what I will do when I am entirely all by my self in Bangkok? I lived in Rama 1, Bangkok, which is near to Hua Lamphong and is just right at the corner of the city center. It took me 20 minutes walk from MBK back to my apartment. I’m a sloth walker. I will usually hop onto a taxi to get around which only takes 5 minutes ride. I will usually stop my taxi at Bangkok Cultural and Art Center, and then I will precede my saunter from there.

MBK Shopping mall (next to National Stadium BTS) is one of the oldest and Bangkok’s famous shopping mall for tourists. I would say 80% of Thailand’s tourists have left their foot prints in that shopping mall. When I first step into the mall in year 2006, I was kinda lost in there. It was crowded and hectic. It feels like walking in Sungei Wang during the weekends which I by no means I hate the crowd.

6^th and 7^th floor is where the cinema, game arcade and karaoke are located. There are times I would often spend my time watching movies in SF Cinema City. I got to say that I do find that it is an honorable practice that before a movie begins, movie viewers are to stand up for the Thailand’s National Anthem to play where you will see pictures and videos of the King on the screen. It’s a cultural that the Thai’s has been practiced for years. I remember there was once I was on my way to Chatucahak via BTS, out of no where their national anthem played on air loud and clear, everyone on the subway station stood still. It was an amazing scene. I felt like I was in Madame Tussauds Wax museum. I played along by not making a move. Can you believe even the cashier and the customer who were making a transaction buying and selling their drinks stood up straight with their cash on each others hand? That was the spirit I adored. It was true respect for the Thai. I always envisage what if I played the Malaysian National Anthem in a busy walking street. Will I have an impermanent wax museum too?

After MBK, I will walk to the Siam Square. Place crowded with University students, manicure or pedicure services less than 300 Baht, hair extension which cost less then 200 Baht, bulks of beautiful teenager’s apparels, tiny size which is not for me. Ahem… I will automatically head to Hard Rock Bangkok, here is a little tip. Hard Rock Bangkok sometimes does sell their clothing lines in avery low price due to odd sizes. So be sure to go back often to check out. Did I mention MBK and Siam Square is just next to Chulalongkorn Univesity?

Individuals with UK size 6-10 are best to shop modest beautiful clothes here in Siam Square at the low prices.

Next stop I will head to Siam Discovery Shopping and Siam Center mall. The locations related to Siam Discovery Center are represented by the shortest path as the crow would fly between any two points and may not be nearest by road. For example, Siam Discovery Center is located 0.1 kilometre from MBK Shopping Complex.

There are times small kiosk will be set out side the mall just to sell some local designer’s new fashion line or invention which is way too cool for me to explain it. I do find that there are many talented young entrepreneurs in Bangkok.

More shopping malls will be seen ahead, you will discover Siam Center, Siam paragon, Central World, Gaysorn, Chitlom and many more. Shops and more shops will be seen. If you did most of your shopping In MBK, you might end up doing window shopping in the next shopping malls. You will find merchandises are getting classier, exquisite and the labeled price tags gets bigger by then. Before the next stop, I will the stop by Erawan Shrine offering flowers and incense to the famous Four Face Buddha.

I will end my journey heading to Pratunam, Indra Regent Hotel, which is near to this Baiyoke Sky Hotel. Massage parlors are to found everywhere. I do think the price and services are much better compared with other parlor. This is what I reckon,. After my legs are all relax, walk across the road to the nearest Pratunam night market to continue for more shopping.

If we want to have much classier western food such as Italian food, red wine, oyster or Subway for supper, we will head to Sukhumvit. There are way many fancy restaurants and eatery to be found there. You don’t have to worry what you will be eating; there are arrayed of foods to choose from German to Japanese posh Restaurant. Generally, Sukhumvit is filled with high rise condos. It’s like Ampang in Kuala Lumpur but bigger and swisher. Expatriates are commoners. Most of the 5 stars grand hotels are located at this area.

Yes, another Ta Lad can be seen along the way. Ta Lad is everywhere in Bangkok. Not all Talad is that exciting to stroll. I only love the one and only Suan Lum Night Bazaar. European or American loves to hang out in that area. Food is definitely more scrumptious and a bit costly. Body massage parlors are also common to be seen everywhere in Bangkok. Guess I don’t have to mention about this. Always ask for price politely before a body massage to avoid unnecessary circumstances. Do also ask if it is for men only or otherwise.

A nearby red light district Soi Cowboy, is just a few meters from Asoke BTS station. Ask for direction it is just nearby. It is not a street packed with cowboys. No it is not area for the gigolo. Barely-naked sexy ladies will stand out sides with the clubs and pubs inviting, trying their best to attract and receiving guests, promoting their special offers and services. I feel perturbed walking to the end of the soi. Their business purposes are aiming to the men only. I did not dare to take a picture at that point. What if they slap me when I took a snap? It was crowded and occupied with horny and drunk men. It is a bit different from Silom and Patpong as it’s much more rattling. Go take a stroll to understand what I mean. You will get the uneasy feeling if you are a feminine.

Patpong or Silom, a place surrounded with hotels, night market, shopping malls, pubs, clubs, gays, transvestites, market, sex…Tourists favorite night spots. Patpong is two small streets (Soi) running between Silom Rd and Suriwong Rd named Patpong 1 and Patpong 2. The Sala Daeng BTS skytrain station is very nearby. MRT station, Silom is also close by, with an exit straight onto Silom Rd and Patpong 1. It is always convenience to travel in Bangkok.

Startling experience exotic and nudity shows such as Tiger show, ping pong show, gay show is also to be discovered in this notorious place. I can’t recall the name of the smaller alley. Make sure you look closer to all smaller alleys as there are lots of clubs and pubs all the way in. Thais are definitely much more open minded than we are. It’s deliberately normal for homosexual’s couple to loiter around holding hands and hugging. Older men are seen embracing the younger Thais. Pubs are always occupied with homosexual foreigner embracing their Thai partner. Sauntering and people watching is what people usually do there. Comparing their partner or eyeing others. It’s different ambience from Soi Cowboy in Nana.

Suan Lum Night Bazaar

A trip is not complete without going to Suan Lump Night Bazaar. Suan Lum Night Bazaar which is next to Lumphini Park, another destination where we will go for a stroll. Covered walkways with centrally-located snack bars provide perhaps the most luxurious (outdoor) market shopping experience in the city. It has vendors selling gifts, clothing, jeweler, fruit, hand-made products like tapestries and fine arts, such as paintings and sculptures. There is a large beer garden, with an array of food available, and live entertainment. On the other side of the market, there is a quieter area with many restaurants offering both inside and outside garden seating. Several bars along with Thai, Italian, German, and even Mexican restaurants are expediently within the market area, close enough to scrutinize the crowd while enjoying refreshment, yet away from the market's hustle-and-bustle.

After a long stroll in Lumphini Park we will head over to Suan Lum. I never had dinner there as it’s a tourist spot. So when its tourist spots you got to pay extra for the food. I love shopping and browsing for new Thai local designers wear in Suan Lum. Plus size fashion is easily to be found in Suan Lum Night Bazaar. There is this one particular shop “Fat Story”, (rummy name for a shop), which I usually patrons. They have fashion sizes for large women. The clothing size can reach to UK size 28. Most young Thai designers and entrepreneurs will sell their fresh and latest clothing line in this bazaar. Every single shop has their unique designs and icon which you will fall in love by just looking at it. Buying my self beautiful design out fit is the best thing in the world. A size 16/18 like me it’s always pretty hard to find beautiful and suitable outfit. So going there is like a paradise. The clothing is much more affordable too.

It is far more comfortable to walk in Suan Lum than in Chatuchak. You won’t feel uneasy walking in as it’s much cleaner and pleasant than the other market in Bangkok. Suan Lum is a best place to get souvenirs for friends and family.

Their operation hour commenced at 5 pm – till 12pm. I find that some shops started to close at around 11 pm.

Besides giving a reliving chiropractic Thai massage, other services will be inclined whenever customers quested. There will be extra charges for the xtra sevice, you have to pay at the desk at the end of the service. Mostly Taiwanese, Korean and Japanese tourists are to be spotted with no trouble. We have no intention or interest to hang out in the night clubs.

few steps away from the exit of Huay Kwang, MRT sky train station. The MRT sky train is just next to Emerald Hotel.

Huay Kwang Night market is open daily for 9pm – 5am. Fresh market selling fruits and vegetables will be operated in the morning. I don’t find many attractions at the night market. Most of the shops sell sexy lingerie and food. Our main point is to stop at our favorite eatery, for pork knuckles and gravy pork. “Kah Mu” is must eat dish in that location.

Vol 2.Transportation in Bangkok

After hubby’s office hour, we usually linger around in Bangkok. We would travel either via the BTS Sky train, MRT sky train or by a taxi. Taxi is not expensive in Bangkok; bare in mind make sure the taxi driver is using the meter before you hop onto it. Taxi meter will display 35 Baht for a start then subsequently add 3 Bhat after a meter or something. To avoid time wasting, we usually opt to get to a destination by sky train then only to return home by a taxi. I don’t take “tuk-tuk”, the main reason is its life-threatening, and you should see how the driver drives when they turn in to a junction. It’s like drifting in Initial D. Secondly, price are hardly negotiated. They are the only one to call the price. Traveling by “tuk-tuk” usually will end up costing more than a regular taxi. Remember to agree upon a price beforehand, if possible, if there is no other way to get a taxi. Most “tuk –tuk” drivers don't speak English and I do find them a bit rude. Motor taxi is always convenience when roads are highly congested. In Kuala Lumpur, we have 2 times of peak hours daily which cause traffic jam but not in Bangkok. Bangkok is always congested. Motorcycle taxi driver can be recognized with their colored vest. Vests are colored for area code.

Water taxi of Chao Phraya Canal

Water taxi or Chao Phraya boat are used to travel across the river or to different pier ahead. A boat ride can cost as cheap as 20 cent per ride while tourist boats can cost up to RM 200 per person just to tour the river in less than 45 minutes. I have tried to cross to Wat Arun from Chang Pier which only cost less than 50 cents via the local boats which was interesting.

Rampaging anti-government protesters forced the closure of Thailand's main international airport, Suvarnabhumi Airport. Politics issue which causes topsy-turvydom to the Thai citizen and the Prime Minister was switched every 3 months. It was insane and demented.

It all occurred last year. I was there for almost 6 months in Bangkok as my hubby was transferred to work in Bangkok for a year. It’s was a once in a life time opportunity for us to be based in a foreign country. We dwelt in a studio apartment in the metropolis. Public transportation and facilities are seen in every inch of the area I live. Flag a hand, getting in a taxi, “tuk-tuk”, a three wheel motorcycle with a carriage at the back, or a motorcycle taxi is as easy as ABC. Hawker stalls, small shop selling Thai foods, convenience store are scattered everywhere. I am never hungry living in Bangkok. When a weird dainty delicacy attracts my attention I will halt and give it a go.

I was concern about the political issue in Bangkok. I did witness a demonstration from Tha ksin’s supporter. I remember wearing yellow when the protesters dressed themselves all in red. No harm was done to me while walking by the demonstration. Taking heed to the discouraging news has demoralized my faith and trust living in Bangkok. Yet to an extent, I believe that the news has exaggerated quite a bit to make it BIG, scaring visitors and tourists. I can assure that it was safe enough to roam in the city. I did that while hubby was busy with his work. I am so smitten with the city. No matter what happens to that country I love the people, the mouth-watering cuisine and the culture of Thailand.

Part 3. School and Friends

My schooling begun the next day. I was shy and petrified on the first day. Isabella and I went to the same school; Liceo Scientifico G. Brotzu. She showed me to my class then proceeded to her class room next door. Not knowing what I am supposed to do in class, if I should make the first attempt to introduce myself to the class. I kept silent. Everyone looked at me as if I was an alien who has just landed on their planet. Their facial expression gave me the sign.

My first lesson was “Dante’s Comedia” – Dante Divine Comedy. Good lord, what the heck is that? Cikgu tak ajar di sekolah le! The teacher mumbles her lecture with her soft, delicate sleepy voice. I pay no heed , it was cold and I dozed of in a blink of an eye. She blabs too much. Hahaha..
Next class, Latin. Holly … I felt like I was in a preaching home or something. Continued with French, Mathematics and etc….

Then it was when during recess, people started to gather around me asking me questions that have been boggling their mind earlier. They are bubbly, friendly and easy going. I was invited to go to their home, Christmas party, and was ask to hang out with them. It was awesome. I felt like the most popular student in school. Yeah I am going to win the prom queen. Pulling the leg of, it didn’t happen. LOL.

After my first day at school, the butterflies in my stomach have flown away. Everything was aplomb. I do not have to do any homework. That is the best school year of my life. I don’t have to take any examination. I slept in class. I precisely sat in front of the teacher. I was on the first row of the class. Cool and envious isn’t it? When others are concentrating on their study, I will do some sketch, write letters back home to my family in Sabah, and my mind will swing away dreaming in a cartoon world. For sure there were times I was bored. I did avoid few classes as in, I skipped class. LOL. I went back home to sleep. Did I mention the school is just few meters away from where I live? The 3 stories bungalow that I lived in was just behind the school up on a hill. I never tell Marge about this.

Few days in school, classmates became friendlier. I was introduced to friends outside the school which sounds like networking. I hung out with friends in a park sometimes in a shopping mall after school. I had an old video camera that recorded what we did in the park. We sang, we joked, and we flirt. Oh yes. It was fun. Language barriers doest exist but who cares. We will just laugh and try to help each other by translating using the mini dictionary. I was truly happy to be with them. To be honest I hate to go home after school. We were nuts! Those good old days! I do find the experience of studying overseas does differ and it does make one more gallant to approach to a person. When I am back here in Malaysia, I turned to a timid mouse again,

It was from there then I started to call some AFS students who were in Cagliari before me. I never met anyone of them. I grab a phone I just give them a ring and chat. Amazing eh? They were students from Brazil, Panama, Chile, Colombia, Argentina, Austria, Republic Dominican, Iceland, Australia and Indonesia. I called each and every one of them. I was then invited to an organized trip to camp a day in Mont Fortubo. So guess what did I missed, if I didn’t make the random phone calls??

I was invited for a trip. At first it was skeptical. I am not sure if it is safe for me to travel with unknowns. I got 2 weeks ahead for the coming trip and I was worried. I do not own a mobile phone, GPRS, GPS, Internet during those days of cause, I was worried sick.

Finally, I pay no heed I went for the trip. It was a trip I will never going to forget. We travel to this peak by a MPV. Half way up the hill, it started to snow. That was my first time I encounter the snow. I was exciting and happy. “Salju salju” the Indonesian guy next to me exclaimed. It was his first time to encounter it too. I put my hand out of the window; the snow gracefully fell on my palm. I can see the delicate intricate snow flake. It was a truly unique and amazing. I was mesmerized. I was blew out of the water. Our AFS organizer Bruno stopped the car. I rushed out immediately. I think Wan (the Indonesian) and I were stun and speechless to experience the amazing phenomena. Other students rushed down to take their pictures too.

After awhile, we went back in to out car headed to the peak. There was a fort behind the hill that we need to do a bit hiking over to the next hill. Hiking is not a thing for me. I can’t hike with my body weight. The air gets thinner when I climb higher. I was wearied and suffocating. I was out of air. But as I came closer to the fort, again I stun by a mesmerizing scene was right in front of me. The peaks were all covered with snow. It was too beautiful for me to describe. How could Mother Nature be that beautiful?

It was a lovely setting. I was tired and glad to be there. I never regret going to that trip. I totally blocked the skeptical thought I had before. We ascend back down then walk to a nearby chalets. Three students were to share a chalet. Each chalet has 3 bunks. I shared my room with an Icelandic girl and Emma who is from Perth. The temperature drops by the evening. It was tremendously cold. The snow continued… I did not take any shower that day. It was weird for me not to take a shower. The water was too freezing.

We went to have our dinner at this barn a like dinning place. We were sitting in a long table. Authentic Italian meals were served and wine did the job for the rest of the day. We all got high and drunk. We danced, joked, laughed and fooled around. I, who was sober, sat at the corner taking photos of the drunk. I know I was like the geek in the group.

We head back when it reached midnight. I remembered as we walk back to out chalet, a student, I can’t recall who, wore a mask (the mask from the movie Scream) trying to scare us. We were shocked at first, screaming like an old lady (we were drunk) and then we ran chasing after him grabbing his mask. Placed snow under his pants! It was totally outrageous. How I wish I can turn back time for that moment. I would love to capture those moments again.

I was there for a day. I returned to Cagliari the next day and it was only a week left for me to return to Malaysia.

Friendship blossom, my friends and I started to hang out every single day. I attended party dinner, camping, I was taken care of, friends' parents loved me and I was doing all sort of things that I usually don’t do or allowed to do at home. Time flies. I started to love my life there until it’s time for me to head home. It’s sad that I have to leave every beautiful moments behind but I have gained my love from friends, had the best moment, knowledge of cultures and the unforgettable experience of a life time. The experiences that I have always cherish. I am proud to have supportive parents and has given me this once in a life time beautiful experience.

Part 2 - First day in Cagliari

Their Fiat pulled over in front of a 3 stories, dainty - contemporary bungalow, located on top of a hill. Exquisite bungalows with its own unique designs are to be seen around the neighborhood. It’s as though standing in front of the rich and famous. At some point, I can glimpse partly of the suburbia and the scenic glistening sea waters. It was an astonishing view.

I was invited into the house, Simone, their Bullmastiff were constantly barking and wagging its tail welcoming me whilst walking towards their home. Simone was huge; I never came upon a dog that immense where I hailed from. I was petrified and simultaneously wanting to pat him. I didn’t get to pat him. My host mother, Margarita – a doctor, ushered me inside her house.

It was cozy and warm inside the house. Isabella, my host sister – a high school student, showed me to my room which was on the loft. I had my own room. I possess my own study table, my comfy bed and a closet and a funky radio. It was too perfect to be true. I usually sleep with my sister back at home. Now I get a hold to have my own room! The room comes along with a perfect view.

Lunch was prepared after they showed me around the house, Antonio, my good looking-host brother – A law student, came home for lunch. We sat on the dining table and started our conversation. They are very passionate and enthusiast where I came form. I was filled with incertitude questioned of curiosity. Bare in mind they don’t really speak English. They rendered me a dictionary and that was how I communicate with my family. We had language barriers. Dictionary was like part of my limbs.

My first day in Cagliari was superb. I would normally hang out with Marge and Isa, Ant was busy with his studies. Dusk came, Marge took Isa and I for a ride in Quartu Saint Elena. The town was pleasant, again may be the illuminating lights did some trick that brought my attention. It was breathtaking. We roamed in the town, ate dinner and had some creamy gelatos. There were ample of stores selling cute, rugged, and erstwhile to fine merchandise. Clothing stored and bistros were everywhere.

It was all worth while for flying miles and leaving my loving family. It was an awesome experience and cognition knowledge, a cultural memes that will remain unforgotten in my whole life.

Part 1. How it all started...

Once you have attempted to fly solo, the gumption, the “chi” of yours will increase automatically. “Sap-sap-sui la!”

Buy a plane ticket,shut one eye and the last thing you know you got on a plane and reach your destination. Kerfuffle no more.

Back to my chronicle……

After I succeed my AFS interview in Kota Kinabalu, I flew back home, Tawau on that same day. I went back as my SPM examination was held few weeks later. I was excited, gouge, all types of mixed notion. I was panic with my exam, happy for my interview success. All I can think throughout my exam was my AFS program. I can’t even concentrate on my exam papers. What is Chemistry? What are the equations? Who was the English Resident that got murdered in Perak? No, not a word. I am not sure what my answer was. Luckily, I did nifty in my SPM with Grade 1.

Finally, the day I have been eagerly waited arrived. I flew 18 hours (correct me if I am wrong) flight to Rome all by my self. Of course I am proud at that instant. Imagine an adolescent flying to Europe all by her own, not acknowledging anyone seated nearby. No travel guide and no I do not put on Traveling Alone Tag. No GPS, no mobile phone, no maps, no nothing. Hahha… There were 4 exchange students who flew along with me which was not known till I arrive at Rome.

Wondering what I did during long-haul flight? I slept. I wake for my meals and slept again. This kinda repeated few times. Played some Nintendo games. Watched some lame movies. Read the in-flight magazine. The best part was I video recorded my self (cam –whoring) with some uncles and aunties on the background. There was no good-looking man around my designated area. No fun right?

I arrived at Rome Leonardo da Vinci (Fiumicino) Airport

after the long-haul journey. I was greeted by an Intercultural Volunteer with my large font name on a white card board. along with AFS logo. We (me and few unknown girls) were brought to visit the Colosseum, the Aqua duct, Fontana Di Trevi…other unique historical piazzas. Rome is perfectly beautiful. I was in love when I first step in Rome especially standing in front of the Trevi fountain. The lighting, ambiance, the ravishing outflow, I was speechless. It was sooooo romantic. Awwwww….That was my first encounter on a Europen architecture. I know I resemble a peasant in a city.. :P

I rested a night in Rome. The very next morning, I flew to Cagliari, Sardenia. “Alone again naturally- Gilbert O'Sullivan". Plane taxied down at the tarmac, I step out of the airport, and my host mother and sister were expecting me at the arrival. They were delighted to see me wanting to bring me back to their warmth home. This is where my life as a student exchange started…..

Japan 2007

Then in November 2007, Hubby and I went to Japan. It is amazing how we can travel the whole Tokyo in 2 days time. As we arrived in Narita, we took the bus shuttle to Shiodome / Shimbashi area where our hotel, Royal Park Shiodome is situated. We placed our bags showered. Rush to Tokyo Disneyland by the light railway JR line. Well it’s out of my expectation. Tokyo Disneyland is so god damn small! Most of our time was like sitting there waiting and watching the parade seeing the American cartoon character speaking Japs. “Scratching head”On the second day, we walk form Shibuya to Harajuku to Meiji Shrine. Then to Roponggi, Ginza, Akibahara, well u name it we went to the entire Tokyo famous street all on foot. Tsukiji and Akasuka…..Conclusion we were tired and happy for the trip. Loving it.. I am starting lazy to the whole journey. It’s best to watch my video then to tell.Missing Chasoba and Sashimi very much now!!!!
