Kristen Stewart has been announced as the new face of Balenciaga’s fragrances. The “Twilight Saga” star, who has previously confessed to not knowing much about the fashion world, said she is excited to be involved with the "cool" brand as she has always been a big fan of the Spanish design house. "Balenciaga has always stood out to me. Even when I first began to consider fashion and admittedly rarely knew the brand I was wearing, I always knew and loved Balenciaga. It feels full circle to be involved with something that spoke to me then and of course continues to excite me now. The brand is just cool. That’s the way it is," Stewart said.

Creative director of the brand Nicolas Ghesquiere said the 21-year-old actress was great for Balenciaga because of her progressive character.

"Kristen embodies the modernity of the new Balenciaga fragrance with her unique sensibility and intelligence. I’ve always sensed her progressive character. In 2006, I invited her to appear in a project shot by Bruce Weber. Since then, I’ve always wished to collaborate with her further, knowing that she shares the radical spirit of Balenciaga," Ghesquiere added.

Singer-actress Jennifer Hudson says she is still trying to figure out how to dress her new figure after losing over 80lbs over the past two years. The 30-year-old has lost over 80lbs since giving birth to son David in August 2009 and while she has developed a new love of fashion, she still can’t decide on what look she wants to go for. "I just love fashion now. It’s so much more flexible, and there are so many more options out there now. I feel like my own little Barbie doll - I get to dress myself up. I hated heels before, but that’s all I wear now.

"But because it’s a new body, I’m trying to find out, how do I want to be perceived? Who is this new me? I knew how to be the big girl, but now I have to find out how to be this girl," Hudson said.

Although, she is happy with her new figure, the singer recently said she was furious when she was photoshopped by a magazine to look slimmer than she was. "It’s like, ‘Where’s the rest of me?’ They Photoshopped me probably to the size I am now on that cover, when we all know I was nowhere near that.

Beyonce designs T-shirt for Obama’s re-election campaign

Singer Beyonce Knowles has designed a T-shirt to support the Obama campaign.

The R and B star’s 45-dollar crew-neck top will help to raise crucial funds for the 2012 re-election effort. The former Destiny’s Child member, who last week became a parent for the first time with rapper husband Jay-Z, is one of more than 20 designers fashioning garments for well-wishers to buy.

Other designers include Russell Simmons, Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, Tory Burch, Vera Wang, and Diane von Fursternberg, many of whom helped with the similar 2008 ‘Runway to Change’ project.

This year’s ‘Runway to Win’ project has fierce fashion credentials -it is organized by Vogue editor and long-time Obama supporter Anna Wintour.

The singer’s mom Tina Knowles, who manages the Beyonce’s own House of Dereon line, collaborated in designing the t-shirt, which is embellished with Obama phrases including the ubiquitous “Yes we can.”

With 2012 already upon us the Obamas have been looking for some star power to boost their campaign hopes.

The shirt is available for pre-order now, and the garments officially go on sale online Feb 7.

Jennifer Lawrence to announce Oscar nominations

American actress Jennifer Lawrence will announce the nominations for 84th Academy Awards later this month. The 21-year-old, who was nominated for an Academy Award for her performance in “Winter’s Bone” last year, will host the nominations event alongside Academy president Tom Sherak at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater Jan 24 in Beverly Hills in Los Angeles county. The announcement of 10 of the 24 categories will be made at 5:30 a.m. PST (Pacific Standard Time).

Among the expected nominations are Meryl Streep for her performance of Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Iron Lady’ and Michelle Williams for portraying screen siren Marilyn Monroe in ‘My Week with Marilyn’.

The 84th Academy Awards will be held Feb 26 and will be hosted by Billy Crystal.

Jennifer Aniston has regained the title of Hollywood’s Most Desired Body at the age of 42. Three years ago, she was crowned the most desired body in the annual Hollywood’s Hottest Looks survey, compiled by Beverly Hills plastic surgeons Richard W. Fleming, M.D. and Toby G. Mayer, M.D. In 2010 singer Stacy “Fergie” Ferguson grabbed the top spot. Last year Aniston came in a close second to supermodel Gisele Bundchen. But in 2012, it is again all about the ‘Friends’ star, who topped the 15th annual Most Desired Female Body category at the age of 42, leaving 20-something stars Bar Rafaeli and Shakira in her dust. While the relatively older Aniston may have the most coveted total package, younger stars are filling in more and more slots on the docs’ body parts lists.

“The biggest shift over the past year is that the younger celebrity group is emerging – people like Katy Perry,” said Dr. Fleming.

“The celebrity faces are what people refer to as an example because they like the way they look and they refer to these celebrities when they are considering plastic surgery. Esha Gupta to shoot for cosmetic brand Maybelline

Former Miss India International Esha Gupta, who is still to make her Bollywood debut with ‘Jannat 2’, has reportedly bagged an endorsement deal with the international cosmetic giant, Maybelline. She was signed barely two weeks back as the face of the brand that previously had actress Deepika Padukone on board. She will soon be flying to New York to shoot the first campaign. It is expected that as the new face of the brand, Esha will head to New York to shoot a highly stylised campaign.

The brand is going all out for this campaign. They have roped in international stylists and production teams to shoot the campaign.

Esha, who won the Miss India International title in 2007, is currently in the capital shooting for her movie and has given the brand a total of 10 days to shoot the campaign.

Irina Shayk has stripped for a stunning new campaign for an Italian lingerie brand Intimissimi, flaunting her figure in a range of pretty underwear. In the photographs, football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo’s girlfriend is seen posing in cheeky red satin knickers embellished with a bow and modelling a diaphanous black lace camisole in another. It is the most recent in a line of quite a few campaigns the model has shot with Intimissimi’s parent brand Calcedonia, who were one of the first lingerie brands to ‘discover’ the Russian model.

In an interview with Esquire magazine, Shayk had divulged that she had been offered “so much money” to pose without clothes for Playboy magazine but she refused the offer as baring all would be a step too far for her.

“I would never do Playboy. Yes, I am a lingerie model, but I have class. Playboy offered me so much money last year. I was like: ‘No. Way,’” she said.

Cheryl Cole launches lipstick for charity

Cheryl Cole has teamed up with cosmetics giant L’Oreal to create a limited edition of her first ever lipstick, from the Color Riche range called ‘Red Passion’, to raise money for her charity. The lipstick is pegged at 8.16 pounds each and a pound from every sale will go to the The Cheryl Cole Foundation in aid of The Prince’s Trust. Cole said that she was ‘thrilled’ to be able to not only create her own lipstick but to help charity at the same time. “I love wearing lipstick as it is makes me feel glamorous whatever the occasion. I chose this iconic luxurious, red shade as it is the perfect dramatic accessory,” she said. “I am so thrilled the funds raised from my L’Oréal Paris lipstick can make a difference to people’s lives through my foundation with The Prince’s Trust,” she added.

The singer said that a lot of thought had gone behind choosing the shade of the lipstick as she wanted to pick one that would suit everyone.

“When selecting the shade I chose one I felt would flatter most hair and skin types, and is the red that everyone wants in their make-up bag,” she said.

“I will be wearing my L’Oréal - Our Company Paris Color Riche ‘Red Passion’ lipstick with minimal make-up and a touch of mascara to compliment the intense colour,” she added.

Denise Richards to launch hair-care range

Actress Denise Richards says she is launching a hair-care line later this month. The 40-year-old, who has daughters Sam (7), and Lola (6), with ex-husband Charlie Sheen as well as adopted baby Eloise, has teamed up with salon stylist Cristophe for the range, which will include shampoo and conditioner. Announcing the collection, she wrote on her blog: "I’ve been hard at work on this project for the past few months and I am so excited to share it with you."

Girls Aloud star Cheryl Cole wants to own more Victoria Beckham dresses in 2012 because she’s a huge fan of the former Spice Girls singer’s creations. ‘Twilight’ actress Nikki Reed reportedly wed fiance Paul McDonald in a diamond studded wedding gown. The 23-year-old’s ivory white, body-hugging dress wedding dress had a hundred diamond buttons. The couple tied the knot at a private ranch in Malibu, Calif. "We couldn’t be happier. We were surrounded by our family and friends. We’re so glad this day has come," Reed said. The actress had collaborated with bridal jewelry brand Tacori, which crafted not only the engagement and wedding bands for the couple, but her wedding gown as well. Indian fashion industry can’t afford me: Ujjwala Raut

Ujjwala Raut has sashayed down the ramp for international luxury brands like Yves Saint-Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana and Oscar de la Renta but is hardly seen on the Indian ramp. The Indian supermodel candidly admits money is the reason. "They (Indian modelling industry) can’t afford me; that’s why I am rarely seen. Also, my involvement with ad shoots and magazine covers takes maximum time," said Raut. The leggy model shot to fame when she won Femina Look of the Year at the Miss India contest in 1996. She was just 17. The almond-eyed girl was pushed by her elder sister to join this glamorous field. "I used to be an average looking girl; so I had never thought of modelling as a career option. It was my elder sister who inspired me to get into this field. She was completely fascinated by Madhu Sapre and instructed me to follow her and that’s how my journey started," Raut recollected.

Raut has appeared on the cover of fashion magazines like Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Marie Claire and was once the face of Yves Saint Laurent. She has also walked the ramp in Milan, Paris and New York fashion weeks.

Unfortunately, India hasn’t been able to produce any supermodel after the likes of Madhu Sapre, Milind Soman and Raut. And she blames Bollywood for it.

"The main reason why there is no supermodel left in the Indian modelling industry is the presence of Bollywood which has become an obvious career option for most models," she said.

"I never tried Bollywood because it requires a lot of attention and time which I won’t be able to give keeping in mind my other projects. In future I will definitely think about the same but no plans as of now," she added.

Currently Raut is on the judging panel of the NDTV Good Times popular reality show ‘The Hunt for the calendar girl’ 2012 along with Milind Soman and Sonam Kapoor.

Raut feels the most important thing a young model should have is right focus to excel in this business.

"I do what I want to do and I just don’t do anything and everything. There are girls who would often say ‘You are a model, I want to be a model too!’ I would tell them that modeling is not for everybody. You actually have to understand where your interest lies and what you are capable of pursuing as a profession," she said.

Raut, whose father is a cop and mother a homemaker, believes that the Indian modelling industry has increased manifold but there are miles to go before one is satisfied.

"There is no doubt that the Indian modelling industry is growing but it’s still new, while in the West it is very old. In the West, there’s much more competition because you are competing with girls from different parts of the world, whereas in India there are just a few girls from outside, rest all are just Indians," she said.

“Inception” star Marion Cotillard has gone unclothed for her new French film ‘Rust and Bone’. The 36-year-old stunner was caught taking dip on set by photographers in south of France recently. The French beauty, who plays an amputee in the film, was unclothed from the waist up and wore black bikini bottoms. Taken from a series of stories by author Craig Davidson, the film, at least in part, seems based on ‘Rocket Ride’, which is about an marine park orca trainer who loses his leg and then joins Unlimbited Potential, a support group made of addict-amputees.

Cotillard was also spotted wearing green knee-length socks, thought to be used against a green screen to give the illusion she’s missing the bottom half of her legs. Last week, she was seen filming with show orcas.

Cotillard appeared this summer in the ‘Midnight in Paris’, in this fall’s ‘Contagion’, and will be seen next summer in ‘The Dark Knight Rises’.

L’Oreal accused of whitewashing Freida Pinto in ad

Actress Freida Pinto, has found herself in the middle of another skin lightening scandal, based a new ad photo from L’Oreal that shows the Indian beauty looking lighter-skinned than usual. The Slumdog Millionaire star, who was signed as the face of L’Oreal Paris in 2009, first appeared with a paler complexion in the official image released by L’Oreal when she was signed in 2009. However it was then confirmed that the shot was provided by Pinto’s management - and not by the skincare brand. L’Oréal's campaign for ‘Colours Take Flight’ make-up, features a close-up of the gorgeous star, showing off their range of exotic coloured eye shadows.

But the image, which is possibly a lighting effect or a Photoshop blunder, has attracted criticism from online publications and have accused L’Oreal of ‘lightening’ Freida’s skin.

The company, however, has denied any retouching. “Freida Pinto has been a spokesperson for the L’Oréal Paris brand since 2009,” said a L’Oreal spokesperson. ‘We highly value our relationship with Ms.Pinto. ‘It is categorically untrue that L’Oréal Paris altered Ms. Pinto’s features or skin-tone in the campaign for Project Runway “Colors Take Flight” limited-edition collection,” he added.
